My coworker and I were visiting from out of town and wanted to find something delicious and fresh. We were impressed by the menu, but were extremely disappointed by our entire experience. We ordered take out and when we entered the restaurant we waited at the front desk as the sign suggested. The waitress and kitchen staff all looked at us several times, but never acknowledged us being there. Not even a "we will be right with you" After 10 min the server came and acted annoyed that we were there and we explained we had a to go order. She told us to go "just get it" as if we knew we should step into the kitchen area and look for it. We found our bag and all items but one on the order had a check mark on the receipt, so we decided to open the bag to see if everything was inside. The server came up to us and scolded us for opening it, saying that she had packed it herself and included everything. We explained our reasoning and she said "I was too busy to put a check mark" WHAT?! There were literally 2, 4 tops in the ENTIRE restaurant. She was SO rude. I have worked in the service industry and I understand being swamped, but this was not one of those situations. We left with our food and decided to ignore the terrible service, however when we started to open the boxes of food we came to find out the quality matched the service. Slopped together, poorly seasoned... just NOT good. The spicy dishes were unbearable... and I like spicy. The other dishes had zero taste. It was such a shame. My sister and I stopped here for lunch after shopping around village pointe, and were seated fairly quickly. The inside is a little on the smaller side, but did have a variety of seating. Our waitress was super kind and attentive. Poor girl was running the bar and restaurant by herself, and was a rockstar. The food was overall ok. The tuna itself was fresh and overall was pretty tasty. The downside of the dish was that it did feel a bit one note. I'm sure it would have been better with the eel sauce, but I unfortunately couldn't have that. I honestly wish there was cucumber in it for some texture variation. Ika San is hidden away in Downtown Omaha, but I am glad my brother inquired for us to go, because it was overall a great meal! The ambiance of this ramen joint is very fun and colorful, with plenty of diversified seating for all parties, fun graffitied walls, and upbeat music. The vibe was great and I see why it is a go-to for my teen brother and his friends, since it is a very casual but enjoyable experience. The service was initially pretty slow, but picked up after we ordered. It took a moment for us to be seated but there were only two servers for a Friday night, so we were not necessarily in a rush. However, after being seated, it did take a moment for us to get our orders taken. Luckily our server brought our meal out super quickly after ordering, so we were pleased. I started with the pork belly steamed buns, which were very soft, fluffy, and flavorful. My brother warned me that the ramen bowls are huge and very filling, and he was correct. Neither of us finished them completely but we both brought home leftovers. I chose to get Niku Odon and it was amazing. The egg, beef, and thick noodles were such a filling and delicious combination, and although I was initially hesitant because of the high prices, the serving size made it worth every cent. Pretty tasty! I didn't go here expecting super rarified artisanal ramen, but I was pleasantly surprised at the diverse menu and topping options. They have different sizes of noodles you can choose, and the menu says they make the noodles in-house! There are different rice bowls, poke bowls, and ramen, so a variety of carbs to fill and fuel you up. The thin ramen noodles were great. I wish they used fresh garlic instead of the packaged pre-minced stuff packed in preservatives, but it wasn't outside my expectations. The cilantro was super fresh, yum. The takoyaki was nice and pancakey-soft (no bonito, though). The crispy rice appetizers with spicy tuna were similar to what I've experienced at other sushi/Asian restaurants. I liked the shredded green onions on everything, too, but if you don't like that, definitely say something about it when you order, because it was on everything! Lol There were a couple screens with different anime going, and it was pretty quiet when we went. It's a big space, though, and I can imagine it gets nicely noisy when full. Our server Stephanie was on top of it! I enjoyed seeing the way she took care not just of us, but the other few tables around. Very friendly and accommodating. Her capable service was a huge part of what made this meal so restorative. All in all, a satisfying and refreshing meal. Thank you. For supper I had the Fuego Ramen which features fried chicken skins and a buffalo broth. I really enjoyed the soup except that the egg was cold, I had to cut it up and let it warm in the broth. We have been to Ika San Ramen a few times, when we've been out west and hungry for something tasty. The fact that we are repeat customers should tell you how we find the caliber of the food (delicious, that's how we find it ) The decor/ambiance is a cute mix of mural art on the walls, fairy lights over the bar, and very large, round ornamental figures perched on little wooden shelves all around the restaurant. The servers we've had are great and very attentive on refills of water/soda, as well as giving honest opinions on the dishes if you ask for a recommendation. The food is brought out on an as-ready basis, which they mention in the menu, so that you are aware of it. But even with that, all of our ordered items usually come out either a few at a time or pretty quickly after one-another. So we have never really been sitting while one person has food and the other has nothing. Now, on to the FOOD! We've tried a few items on our different visits. Some are absolutely fabulous, and just one or two were "good-not-great". I'll start with the appetizers: -Pork Gyoza Dumplings - These were really well made and actually pretty "light" if you're looking for a starter that won't be too heavy. My favorite part of these is if you get one or two that is a little "crispy" along the crimped edges - yum! -Tokyo Fried Chicken - This was one that was good to me, but did have one drawback in my personal taste. The breading and sauce are delicious, but the size of the chicken pieces is a little too large, making them a little too meaty for me in the middle, and throwing off the ratio of sauce and breading to meat. While I didn't absolutely love this item, conversely it is my husband's favorite thing on the menu. So take that for what you will -Fried Brussels Sprouts - Soooo good! I actually didn't know l liked kimchi, as I had a bad experience with it in the past. But however they prepare these sprouts (with kimchi, as well as miso) - they are scrumptious. You literally can't stop eating them once you start! They also come in such a large portion, my husband and I agreed that it could almost be a meal in itself. And now on to a few of the main courses: -Don Chingon Donburi - This is a delightful rice bowl dish and I have had it a few times. My favorite part of the veggies/toppings is the esquites, which is Mexican Street Corn. The only drawback of this dish is that there is just a little too much rice on the bottom for the amount of toppings to cover all the rice you have. -Beef Galbi Ramen - You absolutely have to get ramen at least once if you come here a few times. This has been our favorite of the ramen options. The paitan broth is a little spicy, and the avocado helps to balance that out a bit, so I try to eat little bit of avocado in every bite. I also added corn because I'm from Nebraska (kidding, I just liked the esquites in the Don Chingon bowl so threw corn into this too, and I don't regret it). As an overall "review" I would say definitely give it a try and choose a few things that sound good to you (and then branch out to some new items when you return!). read more

One of my friends got the same meal and all of his pork belly was over cooked which was a big bummer for him. The waitress was nice and handled our large party well. I was stuffed. I love kimchi and tempura so I couldn't resist and it was super flavorful. The flavor in everything was outstanding. Very hardy. Something about the avocado mixed with the warm broth and noodles really did it for me. It was not really spicy in my opinion which was fine since I was a little concerned ordering it as I can't handle spice like I used to. The prices seemed a touch high at about $17 for the ramen but the kimchi was more appropriate at $6, though this seems to be the standard in the world we are in but it felt rough having a $30 lunch with Tax and tip and no drink. This is one of our favorite places for ramen in Omaha! My husband and I recently moved to west Omaha and were excited to try this place. We have been working our way down the appetizer menu and have yet to be disappointed, everything is always fresh and nice and hot. Was so excited for a Ramen place to come out West. This is my first time at any of the Ika Ramen locations and I'm still undecided if I love it or not. The food was delicious! I got the standard Tonkotsu ramen and it was flavorful, right temp, and rich/filling. We also got the Brussel sprouts for appetizers and it was very tasty...although heavy. I suspect it was deep fried which means, there goes any nutritional value we perceived it having. The service was fine, good intervals for checking in, however, it was odd that the kids ramen (broth and noodles) came out last- like 5 minutes after all 3 adults got their bowls. Thankfully my little dude continued to enjoy the brussels sprouts. The food was exceptionally slow so I'm not sure if they're understaffed or maybe Ramen just takes that long. We went on one of the coldest days last week so my last thought is I wished they had a better ventilation system because the whole restaurant smelled of the kitchen. We decided to give the village pointe location another try today. We've gone twice in the past and had very mediocre food that was barely warm. They stepped up their game today and the Miso was delicious and hot! Prices are high. $30 for 2 bowls of ramen, $8 for gyoza, and the worst $10 for a "kids ramen" when we just ordered a plain bowl of noodles, no broth. No so sure why this happens, but for every new Ika that opens, the service seems to get worse and worse. Wait staff isn't friendly or attentive. Sadly the food kind of suffers too. This makes me so so sad because I love ramen so much and I've loved the Ika in Benson and most of the time in Old Market. The Village Pointe location needs some work - and is now the closest to me. I was super excited when they opened here but have been disappointed the last two times I've been. The OG Ika in Benson is by far the best in terms of food, service and atmosphere. We just got back from Japan and were craving some Ramen. I found this place and didn't expect too much but it was phenomenal! Hidden gem! The Ramen, my son had the Tonkotsu, was very creamy and the noodles were cooked to perfection. The flavors were delicious! The waitress, Spencer, was very hard working. This restaurant took over the old spot of Fuzzy's Tacos in the Village Pointe Mall near the theatre. The neon sign looks inviting and the decor, including the big screens showing Japanese Anime is a very nice touch. We were seated quickly and the server was prompt with the drink orders and taking our food requests. The appetizer of the kimchi and pork egg roll wasn't very impressive. I could not taste the kimchi and the pork was more of a paste than solid pieces. The rice bowl I ordered as the main entree looked great but as I mixed it around, found out the rice was being served cold and not hot. Most rice bowls, the rice is either very warm or hot and the rice was cold. I don't know if this was done purposely but I wished it would have been served hot. The menu is a bit pricey in my opinion for ramen but it's good for an occasional night out. What brought our review quite a bit down was the service. We were not checked on other than ordering, drinks sat empty most of our meal, and we sat without eating waiting for a check longer than we ate. The servers weren't really walking around so we weren't able to flag one down to get our to go boxes. I thought my husband wasn't taking his home so I asked for one box and we were given a lot of attitude and made to feel like an inconvenience when we asked for a second. There were two or three servers and the restaurant was not very busy so I am not sure where the animosity came from. My family and I had a dining experience tonight here that was so negative to me (Village Pointe Ika). My mother has an autoimmune illness and was starting to feel sick and the wait staff was doing nothing short of serving negative energy to our table... what upsets me the most is that when you explain this to people, they have a choice to be kind or not. My family and I will not be giving this location, my business any further, and it is sad to think that people who can clearly see that someone who is struggling are not a priority to them. Food itself was very good. The service, not so much. I don't want to drag too much on the waitress we had because she may have been having a bad day, but she wasn't of many words, and didn't do well answering our questions about the menu (it was our first time here). We started with a little appetizer called Benson Bomb, which tasted good but once served, the chicharrón was pretty soggy and it took away from the experience. We had ordered ramen and it took a little while for our food to get to us, there was a few people, but we waited around 30 minutes just for our first bowl. As soon as my father received his food, it was already cold, and he asked the waitress if she could heat it up for him. She obliged, but it took them another 10 whole minutes to get it back to him, and I still didn't have my ramen bowl either. About 5 minutes after that, and 45 minutes of waiting in total, I finally got my bowl, and thankfully it was hot. Unfortunately I was on a time crunch, and I after a few minutes I had to ask for a takeout box to go. I got the rest of my ramen in the bowl and tried covering it, but it literally would not fit all the way on. The lid only went on about 2/3 of the actual container, and the other 1/3 was in too tight and prone to leakage. It was probably due to a bad batch in manufacturing, but I was surprised the employees didn't notice. I would have tried my luck with another container but I was supposed to be somewhere soon and had to leave. I left another part for last because it was partly my own fathers fault, but still didn't bode well with us. My father has poor eyesight, he cannot read well either, so he always has to wear glasses to read small print. Sometimes he doesn't bother reading menus and just asks me, or any staff around to interpret the menu for him. He was ordering wine, like he does at almost any restaurant he goes to, and assumed 1 cup of wine would be around $10, like most casual restaurants. On the tab he found out 1 cup was $36, and he had ordered 2. My dad never read the beverage menu at all, instead he just asked the waitress if they had any wine. she listed off the wines they had, he picked one, and she didn't tell him the price of it. My dad didn't ask about price, and I didn't think to either, but the waitress didn't mention it either. He certainly didn't expect that high of a price for a casual, small, corner ramen shop, but he didn't fuss about, he was just disappointed. Needless to say, he wasn't happy about the $72 dollars of wine, but at least it tasted good. We really did enjoy the food, and the ambience of the location, but the service could be worked on. read more
