    Basturma Brisket Sandwich
    Joe S.

Having heard about this place for years, when it was a backyard operation, I was excited to give it a try. I placed my order online and headed to their ghost kitchen to pick it up. I ordered the Basturma Brisket Sandwich which is their most popular item. I am a big fan of both Basturma and Brisket so this sounded like a match made in heaven. And I was right!!! This sandwich was epic!! The meat was tender and smoky. The spices were perfectly balanced. It had a delicious Chaman Spread, a slice of Swiss cheese and housemade pickled Persian cucumbers. The acidity of the pickles helped to balance out the rich meat. It all came together like magic. The sandwich is quite large, which justifies the $29 price. I only ate half and saved the rest for later. It was just as good cold as it was hot. I can't wait for my friends to try it. They will love it!! Great job III Mas!

They have RE-OPENED down the road on San Fernando And Allen at a former donut shop. The place is small and simple, but has an open kitchen so you can see the food being made. The service is brisk since its a counter and you can see when the food is ready. They still make the Basturma Brisket sandwich, but they improved it with house made melted cheese. Its not cheap at 38 dollars, but it is heavy and special. I also had the Pistachio Hummus thats based on a 14th century Iraqi recipe. Its probably the best hummus Ive had in years. I had that with a imported Hibiscus Soda that was very dry and not sweet, and it paired well with the food. They have other Armenian dishes from this specific region that I have not seen before and I look forward to trying them with friends to share.

One of the best sandwiches in LA. Each cost $29 but can easily share unless you really hungry. Hummus with the chili Crisp is a must. I added pastrami to take it to the next level. Worth driving out of your way to get it. Operate out of a ghost kitchen, order pick up time slot and enjoy.

III Mas offers phenomenal basturma sandwiches. The Basturma Brisket is now one of my favorite sandwiches. Basturma is Armenian cured beef, prepared with salt and spices, and typically sliced thin. Basturma Brisket: This is not your grandmother's basturma. The thick slabs of brisket are double stacked and juicy. I'll just go ahead and say it. The smoky slabs are better than Texas brisket and well known pastrami spots, much more succulent and tender. The spices and zesty spread complement the beefiness beautifully. There's a pretty bark that's fenugreek forward. The melted cheese and abundant tangy pickles balance the richness. The thick and fluffy pita stands up to the meat with a dense enjoyable chewiness. Ordering and Pickup: Place your order at their website. Pickup is through a door behind the ghost kitchen building. Call them when you arrive and they'll bring your order out. There are a couple tiny tables in the lot if you can't wait. Parking: There are about a dozen spots in the back. Or you can look for street parking.

I've been going around to the top rated spots for sandwiches to hunt for the best. There are so many great pastrami spots... some of the most famous being Langer's and Katz's. I don't think these two are the best but I was recently debating between these two. It was somewhat of a close contest for me. I like Langer's a bit more than Katz's. Anyhow, I tried this Basturma Brisket from iii Mas and I felt like it was better than either of those two famous ones. I didn't even need to think about it. The brisket is great quality and the home made pita is what really sets it apart for me. It's so soft and perfect. SERVICE It's a ghost kitchen at the moment. Order online, park in the back lot, call them to tell them you're there, then collect your goodies. PARKING Small, shared lot behind the building. Limited street parking.

Straight fire. See, this is the kind of fusion that honors the culinary traditions in a way that confuses you (in a good way) as to which you're enjoying at any given moment. Bite this way, basturma. Bite that way, brisket. This way, pita. That way, 'cue. Truly a triumph, Chef Arthur.

I've never had a brisket sandwich like this--wild is an understatement! They load it up with perfectly cooked brisket, flavorful sauces, homemade bread, and delicious pickles. Definitely worth ordering in advance!

Ok WOW. Just wow. III Mas is a ghost kitchen in Glendale with some tasty, high quality food. We ordered online- the brisket sandwich and cheese manousheh. We went to the location described waited in line (although we saw some people who called the number and waited in the car) and the food was brought out to us. Just an FYI there is no place to sit and eat since it is a ghost kitchen! First off, the brisket sandwich is substantial- with enough meat to fill my husband- which is a difficult task! Otherwise the bread, sauce, cheese, brisket- all SO tasty. I had the brisket by itself as well which was divine. We really enjoyed this sandwich. The cheese manousheh was the perfect amount of bread, cheese, spice (Aleppo pepper). I was so impressed and wanted to finish the whole thing myself. Overall, would highly recommend III Mas Bakery and Deli! Will definitely be returning for some yummy food.

Basturma brisket is flavorful and tender. The bread is soft and chewy on the inside and has got some crisp on the outside. Chaman spread gives the sandwich an added flavor. Service was fast and friendly. This is a pick up only place, but they keep the exterior of the building nicely kept and parking at the back was convenient.

Food I had tasted great, I ate it in the parking lot because the rest/other orders placed with the party took an additional 45 mins after the time told to us... I can understand the ghost kitchen they work out of may be small and hard to complete orders...at the end of day, people can only wait for food for so long... Person bringing the orders out reiterated that if we are going to place a "big order"( food for 6, 2 separate orders), that we should do so a day in advance.. I didn't get a chance to try any of the other menu items, as I had to head back to work... Other members of this lunch party said the sandwich was a bit on the salty side...

Very delicious sandwich packed with thick cut basturma style brisket (reminded me of pastrami). The bread is delicious, the pickled persian cucumbers are delicious, the spread...everything delicious! A bit steep at $25 considering it's in a ghost kitchen and there are only two small tables outside, but the quality is definitely there. Some people were smoking cigarettes at one of the tables so you may want to eat the sandwich in your car. Very nice service, worker came out multiple times to check on customers and update them about status of their order.

Incredible basturma brisket sando! Best sandwich I've had all year. You order online and then pick up at the ghost kitchen located in Glendale. It is efficient, and they bring it outside to you when it's ready. There was enough parking in the parking lot when I picked up on the weekend.

III Mas Bakery & Deli is a ghost kitchen in Glendale offering takeout-only. I tried their sandwich with incredibly soft pita, smoked brisket, cheese, pickles, and a deliciously spicy Armenian sauce. The sauce was fantastic but surprisingly spicy, overpowering the smoky brisket flavor. Despite that, it was still tasty enough that I'm looking forward to trying their Mortadella sandwich next time. Check it out if you're a fan of bold, spicy, unique flavors.

I went to order online and realized there is the common convenience fee tacked on. I decided to order the old fashioned way, go there in person. Then I can browse the store while I wait. It has the usual stuff you'd expect to find in mini markets. But there are hidden gems in the dusty corners like a vintage bottle of Trader Vic's Mai Tai cocktail mix. I didn't check the price but I'm wishing it still had the price tag from 1975 on it. Made me think of the Werewolf of London drinking a Pina Colada and his hair was perfect. Another good find was a dusty bottle of Crème de Menthe. It made me want to look up the recipe for a Grasshopper. I don't know if these old mixer's are for sale or just museum pieces. The sandwiches look pretty good, I'll have to try one another time. Overall the veggie pizza was pretty good, but a bit heavy on the veggies. I generally like fewer toppings, but everyone is different. I suppose in the future I could ask to go light on the toppings. But I'd rather they be generous rather than skimpy.

My favorite hands down is the butter cheese which is packed in the refrigerated case, sliced and ready to go. That cheese with pumpernickel bread (which they also offer) is so comforting. There are multiple types of salami, with the German style being my favorite. I really enjoyed the imported caraway crackers which was a lighter alternative to the more solid breads. We showed up and the infamous elderly woman with a walker was working the cash register. We asked for a bbq roast beef sandwich with chopped pepperoncini (the menu lists available sides and condiments, this was one). The old woman shook her head no and wagged her finger at us. We tried to push back and request the peppers, and it seemed that she wrote down our specification. We the asked for a Reuben with horseradish added (again, available on the menu). The woman made a disgusted face, wagged her finger in our face again, and told us no. At this point a gentleman from the back let us know that they would be able to accommodate our request, and the woman again appeared to write something down. We ordered a pastrami sandwich, add pickles. Again, finger wag. At this point we were told pickles will come on the side. Ok, understandable. Get me out of here. Ordered two more sandwiches with no specifications because we didn't feel like being berated again. Now the credit card transaction: Woman didn't understand how to handle the transaction, again the gentleman from the back had to explain to her that she can tap the card on the machine. After 20 minutes we received our food with absolutely zero modifications and no explanation. I guess she was faking writing down what we would like. Honestly, the worst part was the sandwiches weren't even great. For such a highly rated place, my entire team was disappointed with our orders. We could've made better at home with a normal amount of effort. Not worth the time, hassle, or attitude. Will not return, and left a bad taste in our mouths for the local businesses. For a town recovering from a disaster, you sure aren't friendly.
