In general, I do like a good IHOP restaurant. You know the ones where you can smell the food before you get to the door? Or you see, there's a wait and it's not because it's a holiday but because whoever they have in the kitchen is really taking time with the orders. Well, I'm giving this IHOP 2 stars, and I feel like that is being very gracious because this IHOP was one I know we are NOT returning to. It was basically empty. I mean parking lot empty, tables empty. We thought we scored because it was the day after Thanksgiving and figured people were still home in their turkey daze or shopping for various sales. We were wrong. I should have known from the sign on the door that said if there is an issue, give us an opportunity to fix it right away and contact the district manager. So we were seated right away. The seat looked like they wiped all the food from the table on the chair, so I asked if it could be cleaned. The guy wiped it, and I waited for the seat to dry off. The same guy took our orders... Or I should say tried to remember our orders. He didn't write anything down, so he was going off what he remembered. After ordering, we watched a few people come in for pick up orders and wait for quite a bit. I thought maybe they were short of staff due to the holiday. Then we saw a group come in and be seated, and then a little while later, they left. It seemed they were never serviced. Our table spread consisted of: the classic steakburger with unsalted fries and an additional side of pancakes, and The seasonal thick and fluffy french toast But instead of getting gingersnap apple or banana strawberry, I requested the apple and banana and a side of two scrambled eggs with cheddar cheese. The french toast part (which I would have thought would be more complicated) was correct. The scrambled eggs part.. so I'm guessing the guy figured he would make my meal a combo because I asked for eggs. In doing that, he never asked what meat I wanted or if I even wanted meat and anything regarding the hash browns. When he brought out the platter, it had a sausage link, a bacon link, the eggs, and hash browns. I was willing to keep the meal as a combo, but I said to the guy I dont eat pork, so I'm unable to eat any of this. He did ask what kind of sausage I would like instead, and I said I would take turkey. Since her brought out the turkey sausage and nothing else and never took the other plate away, it seemed that he expected me to just eat the remaining food around the pork which for me was not doable So I asked for it to be removed from the check rather than waiting longer for a new plate. In reality, I didn't want all of that to begin with. They took like $5 off but left the charge for the eggs on. We wrapped it up and gave it to the person sleeping in front of the old pizza hut so it wouldn't be wasted. We see why it was empty now. At this rate, I wouldn't be surprised if it's unfortunately closed by one of my next few visits to VA. It's sad because it really used to be a nice spot when I visited. On today's episode of the food service/ restaurant industry sucks: We have IHOP in Suffolk, Va. The mothers and I are in town for a birthday celebration, and we stopped here for a quick bite. We would've been better off just grabbing something from a gas station. They weren't busy, and that should have told me something right then. We were seated, got our drinks, placed our orders, and waited...and we waited... and we waited Our food showed up looking like we ordered from wish.com Needless to say, a few things were missing from the turkey sandwich, and the onions on the Salisbury steak only walked past the grill. They were most definitely still raw. The children in the back on the grill were playing the entire time we were there, and they were more concerned about their colleagues' meals than the people that were actually paying. Well the entire experience was a disappointment. There were live, barely alive and dead bugs around the window sills. Nothing like a bugs crawling around at eye level. Service was extremely slow... no utensils given, had to ask for straws, didn't get refills on my "endless" coffee... and to top it off we ordered water in a cup for my son and was charged for a bottle of water. Wonder how many they get with that one. I've never called the health department on a restaurant before but I'll be calling Monday to make a complaint about how dirty everything was. read more

Family all went here for dinner tonight. Breakfast for dinner sounded good. Except they literally were out of coffee, milk, fruit, seafood... ordered a berry salad. Can't mess that up right? I literally got just lettuce and nasty unthawed chicken they put on it. Not edible. Was gross and slimy. How does IHOP not have coffee?? Sounds like the manager needs to go. I wish I could give zero stars about this awful place. Please do not waste your time stopping in this nasty restaurant our adventure began with servers and what look to be cooks arguing about who was going to seat me and my husband . The servers have nasty attitudes, and the whole entire restaurant is gross. I've stated to my server that the table was sticky, and she proceeded to spray me and the table with bleach water, and wipe the sticky stuff with a dry rag . after we realize how disgusting this restaurant was, we received our drinks. We did not take a single sip of the drinks, and we let our server know that we were going to be leaving, and we still had to pay for the drinks. I've ordered 5 times as early as 3 hours in advance, and each time (except once) I've had to wait over 20 minutes. What's the point of ordering in advance if the order is not ready? Great service, waitress was the host and our server. She was very nice and friendly, hardworking girl. I ordered Chicken classic burger with fries and it was delicious. My husband ordered Steak and eggs with pancakes and steak was delicious he says. One negative, was they didn't have coffee filters, they ran out. Great experience, quite not a lot of people. Placed an online order because the phone number that is listed was not available/working. I had a pick up time of 10:54 but when I arrived, an additional 15 minutes was needed to complete the order. As I walked out, someone yelled, "hold on we forgot your French toast." I specifically asked for no cheddar on one of the omelets but that's what was on it. The hash browns were grease logged and burnt. There was maybe 2 employees that had masks covering the nose and mouth, rest had them hanging around chin. Okay soooo I usually don't do this b/c people can have a bad day! But I just can't keep this too myself!! First off after getting off a 12 hour shift I suggested to my husband let's go to IHOP just he and I (we have 5 kids, so just us two happens like never).... So first when we got there we noticed a few dead flies in the window seal and on the blind we ignored it. The waitress came over and she got our drink orders and when she came back with our coffees she told us she didn't have creamer just milk we told her fine and asked for sugar as well because there was none at the table. She left and took her awhile to come back. We could hear her going back and forth with the cooks about our order. She entered it one way and was verbally telling them what she didn't know how to do in the system and the cooks were a little frustrated. She came back to tell me that that they didn't have part of my order that I wanted so I gave a substitute for it and when she relayed the message the cooks responded with frustration. We asked "again" for the milk and sugar for our now cold coffees as well as fresh coffees due to ours sitting waiting for the milk and sugar the first time. At this point my husband was ready to go and I said no it's alright. He again pointed out that it wasn't enough people in the restaurant for the wait times we were experiencing on something as simple as coffee and milk. When she came back to the table with the milk in a glass I asked for to go silverware due to ours being dirty and a ant crawled crossed the table while she was standing there. She killed it with her finger right on the table and at this point we walked out... agreeing to NEVER go back to that location! read more

We ordered food online with a pick up time of 10:54 Online was the only option because the phone number on the website is the wrong number.(I was 6 minutes from IHOP). The first thing I noticed during this pandemic, Staff either had No mask on or wore it below there chin particular the cooks who handle the food. My food was finally brought to me 20 minutes after the pick- up time. The food was an complete disappointment. Oily hash browns, two pieces of steak on the "STEAK" omelet, cheese on an omelette marked No cheese. And luckily I was chased down on the way out with food that wasn't placed in my bag. This was not only a terrible experience, but very poor customer service. I gave 1 star for the waitress that apologized for my long wait time. read more

We were fairly happy with service here. Food was decent for the price. But last time we went, we ordered two adult meals and two kids meals, which should have been free. When I went to check out, I was told the kids meals were not free because we were supposed to order a drink with the adult meals. Our waitress knew we were looking for the free kids meals and she never said anything about us ordering waters. I have never heard of such a rule. The best thing that could happen to IHOP is for it to close and something decent open to take its place. A few years ago it used to be pretty good, but something has happened because service has taken a drastic nosedive. Two of us went in and were seated. There was almost no one else there. We waited and waited and no one ever came to our table. Servers were working because we could see them talking to one another and looking at their cell phones. Had the pleasure of dining here for brunch with my husband a few weeks ago. We were seated right away. (It was a Thursday afternoon after all.) Our server introduced herself to us almost immediately and started us off with drinks. After perusing the menu, we were able to place our orders. We never felt rushed by the server during or after the process. Our food came out hot and tasty and exactly as ordered, with the warmed syrup our server offered to us. So no complaints about the food or the server. I did visit the restroom. It wasn't clean the way I like it and there are gaps between the stall bars and the walls, but it wasn't horribly filthy either. I did see an employee enter to use the facilities, but due to the line, walked right back out using a napkin to grasp the handle. Not a huge offense as regardless there are hand washing stations around to use. The only part we were unsure about was where to pay. In the end we left a tip on the table and paid upfront. (They were having a huge training that afternoon so the floor was a bit sparse.) All in all, no real complaints here. read more

Been here several times and I think it is one of those deals that if you are in the mood for pancakes or an omelet (comfort food), then come to a place like this. My wife and I were killing time and we just wanted to get a cup of coffee. They seem to have pretty good coffee. For a food item, we decided to get some toast and hash browns. Everything was great and what made the place good this time around was the great service. Like every place that falls into this category, the service can be spotty, depending on who is working at the time. This night, the hostess opened the door for us and the waitress was bending over backwards for us. Coffee was good. Pancakes are always good and if I was still eating meat, I would have the Colorado omelet. Always yummy. Looking at the reviews for this place, it all depends who is working that day and who is having a rough day it seems. I will come back if necessary, but I wont go out of my way to make it happen. Welcome to iHop. Just like the rest of the reviews, iHop is in normal form. Chain restaurant with a chain flavor. If this is what you're looking for, then you found the place. There isn't a Dennys here in town. Came in Saturday morning at opening. 7am. Looks like the town doesn't open up till 7 unless you go to Mickey D's (24 hour drive through). Seated promply, ordered, and food brought in a timely manner. Just like you'd expect from a chain. Got my regular coffee, water, 2 eggs over Med. Bacon, seasoned red potatoes (substituted the hash browns) and sourdough toast. Same as I get at the other breakfast place in town, the Plaid Turnip. Service was quicker here. Coffee (fresher) , and potatoes (actually seasoned), and bacon (4 there 2 here) were better there. As was the price ($8.88 there, $11.29 here). Wanted to make a comparison of the 2 places in town. Another difference is the selection. If you're use to the iHop menu, then this is the place to go. If you like the chain store consistency, then iHop wins hands down. This has to be the worst IHOP I've ever ate at. I've given this location multiple chances but the only thing they are consistent on is messing up your order or never making it.
