I arrive and the person at the cash register was punching stuff in, and made an effort not to notice me. here is the experience, you decide: me: hello there - how long have you had that special? him: uh, it changes every nite. me: really - it looks the same as when I stayed here last saturday. him: yes, we rotate it, but we stopped serving specials at 11 pm. me: what time do you have? him: about 11:15, our graveyard shift doesn't do specials. (I take note of the clock behind him, that says 11:05). would you like to be seated? me: yes him: would you like something to drink? me: just water, please him: (engages in 5 minute discussion with employee, less than 10 feet from me). me: excuse me sir, can I have my water. If I don't get some service I am going to leave. him: then leave. So the story on the IHOP is empty restaurant, rude, unfriendly, greeter who treats weary travelers near an airport looking for late food like dirt. I would rather starve, which I did. If this is the way this place treats guests during slow, sunday night hours, imagine what it is like when it is busy. Personally I think 1 star is too many, the manager/owner was rude both to staff and customers. I got a breakfast with eggs runny and disjointed, got the eggs/sausage then the hashbrowns while they redid the eggs then after i finished the hashbrowns the eggs/sausage again. The manager/family owned resteraunt manager as described above said he had been in the resterauant business 40 years and all over the world, which world is that? Wayhne's World, his imagination? Doesn't he know that customers are his bread and butter. I know he wouldn't have accepted his breakfast the way mine was served. I reluctantly paid for it as he was not to back down but told him what i thought of the place. My friend's club sandwich wasn't even toasted but he was so full of himself that we didn't get to that subject. $22 and I did get enough food to feed a sparrow. If he's been around the world in resteraunts then why is he only owning an IHOP and not something more fancy? Anyway my friend, her family and our friends will never cross the doors again. Bad enough you have to deal with bad food but a bad manager/owner too? I see another comment on his management style, dictatorship. He's got the Napoleon Complex. Any other restaurant, and I eat out all the time, would have comped me, not that I ever ask for it except this time because of the horrible experience. Even Outback gave me a certificate for sitting me down at a dirty table and having a manager be rudet to me. Fortunately that manager is no longer there. Maybe this manager may consider retiring? Obviously he's not doing his business any good! I've been to better IHOPs and seen better manager/owners that treat their staff with dignity and their customers as gold to make sure they return as how does any company make money? Through their customers. This manager/owner needs to go back to Business 101. Serving a meal properly and having a satisfied customer goes a lot farther then arguing and doing what he did which was kill repeat business and if he's been in the business 40 years and around the world he should know that or it is time for him to retire! I felt bad for our waitress who was a sweetheart. I wouldn't work for a dictator like him no matter what. He's like what are you going to do about it, here I am! DON'T GO!!! And if you do, don't order the food! This manager/owner needs a lesson from Chef Ramsey or Chef George at Gorgeous George's in Seattle. His position has gone to his head! This place is like a well oiled machine...especially on Sundays! I never wait as long as they say, tables are cleaned off within 2 minutes of leaving (I timed them!). And I do mean clean! No sticky residue or crumbs are left! Staff is always smiling and friendly...and even remember my face! Before they got the Simple & Fit menu, they even remembered what I ordered when I came in...including all substitutions! I've never had a bad experience here. I stopped in this morning for breakfast. The waitress was very prompt. I decided on the bacon, sausage, hash brown and toast.this also comes with 2 eggs. I explained that I have a allergy to eggs.It was decided that I would have a extra order of bacon and extra toast.i did request that the grill be cleaned due to the egg allergy.she explained that the eggs are cooked in a separate container. When she did bring my food which was within 10 minutes. There were eggs on the plate. The toast was not barely toasted and the bacon was not fully cooked. She did bring out a plate minus the eggs, I pointed out to her that the toast was barely toasted. She went to get more. At that point I left. It is better to leave than risk having the cook possibly spit in your food . The quality at IHOP has gone down.every cook should know that pork should not be under cooked. Nix-ay on this IHOP..... I was sick several weeks ago. I was dreaming of some tasty food and when I felt better, I went over to the IHOP on 204th on Pacific Highway near my home and placed a takeout order for a senior citizen omelet with pancakes. When I got home and opened my bag, everything was cold. And worse, the nice omelet I had been so looking for was dry, crumbly and" brown" from overcooking. It was just plain awful....I could make it at home this way for less than a quarter of this cost, so why would I pay IHOP over $7.00 for this type of food? Two days later when I was out, I took my receipt to the store to get a refund. The receptionist got the manager and he came out, ****guns blazing.******** Before even acknowledging me, he started yelling that "he was not going to give me a refund" and that I had already eaten it and that I should have told him this on Sunday when I purchased it. I explained it was a takeout order but he reiterated what he had just said, just as rudely as the first time. I was shocked to be talked to this way and, honestly, wounded by his treatment. I had been instrumental in taking my friends there before, sometimes as many as 8 on a table. Guess how much good will and business he just lost for a $7.00 refund? I've seen this manager (he might also be the owner) in action before. He's a jerk!!! Lots of people from my church go here, and once I stopped in to ask for a donation for our parish picnic drawing and he blew me off. He needs to go back to customer service 101! He's rude, short with people, and a really sorry excuse for a good businessman and a nice human being. If he treats seniors this way, I can't even imagine the abuse his work staff puts up with. It got to the point where my boyfriend and I had become regulars. We would come in after long hours at work and the food never disappointed us and we left with full bellies. Well, the other night I decided to try something new. It was the Philly cheese steak sandwich and I didn't end up liking it. It was dry and I didn't even eat over a quarter of the sand which. I ended up asking for a discount because I didn't want to pay $15 for a sandwich I barely ate. The waiter was a bit sour about my request but ended up asking for a discount anyway. They gave me a whopping $2 discount but not without accusing me of taking advantage (eating "most" of the sandwich and asking for a discount and would do it this time but not again --- which is passive aggressively accusing of taking advantage ). I totally understand that there are people who take advantage and use that excuse to pay less but that wasn't me, we've been there every weekend for two months, and I do not appreciate my character being questioned. I will not be back and say goodbye to our contribution of $300 a month. I know it's not much but it's something. read more

I've always liked this IHOP! Especially the food! I usually only come 2 IHOP during the holidays when they have the pumpkin, gingerbread or egg nog pancakes ( Oct. - Dec.). Me and my two sons went to IHOP Sea-Tac in this early morning for breakfast at 5 a.m this morning. We enjoyed for foods and service. My younger son needed to take 8 a.m. airplane departure to his colllege, Cornell U. in N.Y. We put 2 his bags in my car and I believe I locked the door. Since, I parked my car the most visible spot, the closest from the entrance on the front spot then I trusted the restaurant's reasonable care and we stayed there about an hour. When I got back to the car we were surprised by those two luggages were gone. His new laptop, nintendo, suits, shoes worth about $3,000 were gone. The hostess told me that the area is risky for those burglary. I do not understand why they did not put any warning sign or camera for that. They failed to have reasonble care for their patronages or guests... I do seek some compensation for this lost... I also should be more careful though... I had a good experience here late on a Saturday night, circa 10 PM. I was seated quickly, had an efficient and polite server, was served hot and tasty food, and was out the door quickly. This was the worst service I have ever had in my life. It took almost an hour to get our food. Our waitress was cool, but I don't know what was going on in that kitchen. we seen several people that arrived after us get their food before us. When we asked to speak to the manager, the waitress told him, he looked to see who was at the table and said we can wait. Then my husband went to find the manager, the manager said "what" and my husband advised him that we had been waiting for 50 minutes for our food, the manager said "and" I could not believe it. Our food came at this time. The order was incorrect and cold. We still were unhappy. The manager/owner Jerry was extremely rude saying "we are just swamped, so what do you want me to do, I will get you what you ordered." Really? and wait again, we said no thank you. I asked him why he was being so rude to us and he said that he was not a "hoochie goochie" kind of guy..whatever that means. We left without eating. We usually do a lot of fine dining and we know what great customer service is. I think this guy does not care because its located in a tourist location and next to a hotel where there are really no regulars. He probably thought we were just visiting. Even if we were, that service was so poor as a manager, he should not be allowed to call himself an owner. The Seattle Ihop is worth a drive or just go to Dennys down the street. Don't waste your time unless you don't mind poor service from the manager. Usually the manager is not the one providing BAD service. I don't get it! I generally don't eat at places like IHOP but we stayed at the hotel across the parking lot (Sleep Inn), so we went for the convenience. We were pleasantly surprised by the fresh high quality ingredients. I had the cobb salad and the greens were very fresh and full of deep greens and color (not the usual iceberg or pale romaine). It was reasonably priced too. Wish our IHOPs in Calif were as good. Service efficient and pleasant. read more

We have gone to this reataurant for several years. We used to stay over night at the motel next door the night before our flight and eat here. Now we live in the community. Service is always good. Food is served promptly. Soda refilled without asking. Best deal, if you are a senior, it is two for one between 3 and 6 p.m. The two of us can eat dinner with drink for less than twenty dollars. Consistency... It seems you never have to wonder what the food is going to be like at an IHOP, or Denny's - it's always pretty good :) We went yesterday morning because we found we didn't have enough groceries in the house to make breakfast for ourselves. Sure, we could've swung by the store and picked up some food staples, but why not bolster the economy by eating out instead?? Seconds after we arrived we were greeted by our hostess - friendly, quick, and accommodating - and ushered to a booth like we requested. We were given menus at the same time and very soon afterwards asked if we wanted drinks. It was like watching a well-oiled machine. We ordered off their menu of specials which we tend to favor - I do it because there's always so many options on their menus if I don't pick one of their specials I take a half hour to choose. My wife got spinach and cheese in her eggs, I opted for enchilada sauce and sour cream - we really enjoyed both, and our son ate really good too. Honestly though, I'm not sure if my eggs tasted good or not as it was all about the enchilada sauce. I liked it though :) We agreed that next time we'll have to request our hashed browns be cooked 'crispy' as they were more like mashed potatoes when we got them :-/ Also, IHOP was advertising new flavored coffees (another Yelp user took a picture - we think they were just instant coffees topped with whipped cream) which we both ordered. We got the chocolate raspberry flavor, but we weren't impressed it was oily and very sweet - not as good as Denny's. My daughter loves IHop and this is the closest one to our house so for the last year I have tried multiple times to go. The hostess' are horrible. Every time I go in they never say 'Hi, how are you?" with a smile, when you first arrive. They say 'how many'...then turn their back on you rudely and start walking away without even saying follow me or right this way. The last few times we have gone to leave I go to the hostess counter to pay and the ladies there would ignore me for two full minutes (without having said a word) and continue what they are doing. Simply looking at your customer and saying, "I'll be with in one moment." and a smile will go a LONG way. Usually the food is pretty good. Last time I went my hash browns were burnt and the cook had stuck my country fried steak on top to hide it! The country fried steak had been really chewy and I couldn't even finish eating it. I am not one that ever leaves food on my plate and that day I left everything except the eggs. I was surprised that my waitress never asked how my food was or if there was a problem since over 70% of what I ordered was still on the plate when I was done. The owner seems like a great guy. You see him host and even act as a waiter and have never had a problem. I did have a waitress about 6 months ago tell me a story about how her son had 'Pi$$ed on her and she'd beat his a$$.' Not very professional. Overall I think the staff needs a major overhaul. The place is nice, clean and conveniently located but with a bad staff you will lose returning customers. been a regular since it opened.(5-6 times a week) usually take out. live 1.5 miles away and pick up breakfast for self and wife. main manager is responsive but literally hamstrung by corporate. company needs to learn that some persons have dietary restrictions and can't eat certain things. wife can't eat much cheddar cheese for instance. only other choices are provolone or swiss (both rubbery when heated), pepper jack. plain monterey jack not allowed by corp. dinner menu too limited, need meals like ground or chopped beef, swiss steak, meatloaf and other family style dinners. too much emphasis on tilapia, chicken, etc. wold like regular tasting fries, not their seasoned ones. burgers are too dry. most service staff are friendly and reasonably prompt. evenings and late night i don't recommend due to unruly and sloppier clientele. would like to hear staff speaking english when in presence of customers instead of hearing them chattering away in spanish most of the time. though this sounds critical, this is actually the better breakfast and lunch restaurant for at least 8 miles north or south along pacific hwy s. read more
