The food was good, I had a waffle, with scrambled egg and bacon, while Dawn decided on the steak omelet. Everything was served promptly and hot. The restaurant was clean and well lit, and the morning crowd seemed to be a good laid back local group of gentlemen and ladies. From the moment my guest and I walked in, the place almost felt like stepping into a library: "quiet, calm, and with just a few customers enjoying either a late lunch or early dinner". Honestly, I didn't mind the peaceful vibe at all. We were seated within about four minutes, menus in hand the second we sat down. Drink orders were taken right away, and to my surprise, they came back in what felt like four seconds flat. Quick service? Absolutely. Food Experience: My guest ordered the Sirloin Steak Tips with Broccoli & a Side Salad. Before placing my entrée order, I got something for us to share: the Cinnamon Bun Crepes. (Though oddly enough, they didn't come out first like a traditional appetizer.) Her side salad arrived almost instantly. Presentation-wise, it could've passed for an entrée -- generous tomatoes, cheese, and the usual house salad fixings. She loved it so much she devoured it before I even got a chance to ask for a soda refill. Then came the entrées. I ordered the Fisherman's Platter -- fried cod, shrimp, and fries. But before I could squeeze lemon on my fish, my guest commented on her steak tips. The issue? Sweetness. She's the type who rates her dislike for sweet mixed with savory at a 9.9 out of 10 -- yet her steak tips were sweeter than the Cinnamon Bun Crepes. Even with sautéed onions and mushrooms, the flavor leaned sugary, and the grilled notes didn't really come through. As for my platter, it was decent. The cod and shrimp were hot out of the fryer, the fries were passable, and overall, it scratched the "fried seafood" itch without blowing me away. Now -- the Cinnamon Bun Crepes. Easily the star of the night. The cream cheese mousse was rich and flavorful, the crepe exterior had a slight crisp, and it was topped with fresh strawberries and plenty of cinnamon. This dessert actually tied the whole meal together on a high note. Overall: The service was quick and attentive, the atmosphere calm, and while the food had its highs and lows, the dessert shone brightest. Presentation isn't everything -- flavor is -- and while some dishes missed the mark, there's enough here that I'd be willing to give the place another try. read more

It was horrible.We came in there last night.we we're a party of 4 2 small kids was with us 8 30 pm they were pretty much empty but for a party they had on the other side.After setting there for 24 minutes they came to take drink order I told them we were ready to order everything I was told they had a party so no they would just take my drink order so after that about 20 more minutes they came came and took our order.I am guessing you know how long that took our food did not come out together first one child then 5 minutes later another childs which they didn't eat cause they filled up on the milks and they also drank our sodas so we had nothing to drink then finally our food came out grandson's didn get the apple sauce that came with their meals we both ordered over easy eggs got scamled didn't want to send back cause God only knows how long that would take we asked for check when we got our food cause we didn't know how long till we see him again.Needless to say our grandkids were ready to go because they been done got their stuff.So we could not eat tried to wait for him to come back to ask if we could get a box so we could take it home after tired of waiting my house got up took him the cash for our 65$ bill that we didn't get to eat to the kitchen.It was now 10 24 pm all while watching people come in get tired of waiting to be seated so leave I would hate to see if they had a full house.I work hard to throw away my money for food I couldn't even eat it if it didn't come the way I ordered it.worst nite ever. read more

Usually when we come to FL we have already the mind set that service will be a little on the slow side, so far in Ocala that has not been the case, specially in this IHOP. This is the 2nd time we are here this week and so far it has been an amazing experience, food is great and staff is even better, extremely friendly and they work fast. I hate having my time wasted. I hate people who don't give a care about their jobs and deliver poor customer service. I experienced both tonight. I was in the middle of a 2 hour drive from visiting friends and family. I saw that the steak and shake right off of college road was still open. I got in the drive through at 9:42 pm. There were about 4 cars in front of me. I made it to the drive through window at 9:58 pm. I sat and waited. At 10:02 PM an employee comes out of a side door and says, "We're closed." I was dumbfounded. I told her that I'd been sitting in their drive through live since 9:42 Pm. She repeated what she said then added that they'd turned off the grill. I sat in that line since 9:42 Pm. One of the cooks came out to take out the trash while two cars were ahead of me. That was a chance to tell me that they would close without giving a care that a entered the line before they were closing or not. Nope. so I wasted time and gas sitting in a line that was so slow moving that it took me more than 15 mins to reach the window only to be rudely told that they were closed. I am PISSED. The worst part i I've missed the closing times of restaurants that would have served me food. This was horrible customer service. They could have done like other restaurants and places cones in the drive though to let you know thus taken their last customer instead of letting me waste my time in line and then be rude and tell me they'd closed even though I'd arrived well before their closing time. We came in on 7/1 around 7:30pm. Sat in a booth by the bar, our total was 36.74. Our waitress was great, unfortunately the food was not. Both my husband and my son (who at the leftover food from my husbands) came down with food poisoning and spend most of the night vomiting, and today (7/2) sick. My husband called the store and spoke with what he was told was the manager named he believed it was Michael who basically told him it was not his problem, placed him on hold several minutes for the GM, came back said he left and hung up. Here's the issue, it is his problem if there is a cross contamination issue, rotten food, or something he may have spread to more than one guest. It's sad that your establishment that I have been going to since I was a kid with my own mom has lost its love for the brand and your staff no longer care when they cause harm to a patron, even if it was unintentional. read more

I ordered the new Banana Graham Nut Pancakes w/eggs and hash browns. The photo looks really good. I had asked the server where the bananas were as I didn't see them in the photo. She said they're grilled inside the cakes. Okay then.... My meal came very quickly and I noticed the pancakes didn't look anything like the photo. But then, does it ever??? The "nuts" were 5 chopped pieces on top of the cake. The marsh mellow topping was watered down and in a small amount. My pancakes had exactly 4 TINY slices of bananas in them. Part of the whites of my small eggs were not cooked and I had to cut them off. BTW, I say small because IHOP always serves small eggs. I thought that was gone with the 80s. Service was okay but she gave me the check a couple minutes after she brought the food and then I never saw her again. Why do they give you the check so soon? It's like saying okay, we're done now...if you want to order something else is too bad because your check is right here! A+ on cleanliness. The restrooms were also very clean. Customer service is not the priority here our server Danette was awful, the manager on the other hand was great. Too bad he needed to get involved. One in our party wanted eggs dry (well done) they came glossy. They were remade and looked perfect unfortunately the server put the check pad on them while she was changing hands to put the plate down causing concern for contamination. The bottom of the check pad has been placed on many surfaces. There were four of us. It started off when Danette said that she forgot this was her table. We ordered, people were seated behind us while we were ordering- their food came out before ours. We asked about it and were told it would be out soon. Then ours came and the egg issue began. After speaking to the manager again we decided to just get the check and leave. The people to our side complained about the time it took for their food to come. Then when it arrived he was given a double order of biscuits incorrectly and no silverware. This place is a train wreck. The people who got their food before us... had bad food. The bacon in his omelet was old and minced he complained to the server on the left in the picture. She had about as good an attitude as the one we had on the right. Save yourself the aggravation and skip this IHOP. Until the servers get training on how to treat customers I suspect they will continue not receiving tips. read more

International House of Pancakes is what you think when you think of IHOP but the joke that they use for IHOB has burgers. My burger (Jalapeño Kick) was juicy. Boi howdy, the spicy blend of sautéed jalapeños that were firm diced. Serranos and onion were a nice touch the their-custom-cured hickory-smoked bacon. Of course who could not forget the Pepper-Jack cheese, lettuce, tomato. To top it all, the jalapeño mayo adds the icing on the cake. (In this case the burger with good HOT fries) Pancakes were heavenly with the just amount of strawberries to compliment with a silky smooth like Strawberry Milkshake. Tilapia was good, used with a better looking stuffing but the hash browns and soup was a good choice that made a good choice over the salad. What made my day (my family day here at IHOP) was our server. Felicia was better than prefect, if you know one, please tell me. Then we were seated and waited another ten before anyone offered to get our drinks. 15 more minutes before the coffee even shows up. We ordered our food. I got a crepe with strawberries and bananas, my husband got an omelet and hash browns and a friend got eggs and hash browns. All the hash browns came waaaaay under done. This was after waiting 25 more minutes for the food to show up. M6 wife kept commenting that it came out so fast. A few hours later, I felt very nauseous. I ate most of the omelet, only a few bites of the pancakes. Those I brought home, and let my teenage son eat later on. He was throwing overnight. So my son and I are victims of food poisoning. I will give you one guess at which food was undercooked. Fast service DOES NOT equal quality. Called IHOP to complain and advise, spoke to the manager that cooked the food last night. No apology, no accountability. I cannot be the only customer who got sick. I made a complaint to corporate and of course, it's a franchise. And of course no one cares. I was a regular customer. Not anymore. I love ihop. Really wish they didn't charge $8 for a stack of flavored pancakes with nothing to go with them but that's about my only complaint. My favorite pancakes are the red velvet and new York cheese cake. My son enjoys the chicken and waffles and I love the omelettes and country fried steak.
