First time in- All the booths are open, but the hostess decides to seat my husband and I at the tiniest table near the restroom. When she seated us she kind of slammed down the specials menu and said "here's this, or whatever". Out waitress was super awkward, but nice. Our food came out pretty fast, but was pretty skimpy.
Second time in (and last)- we requested a booth when we walked in. Hostess says "um let me check" she looks down at the menus and says "ok I think I can get you one" as we're walking to our seat we pass by ALL the open booths to be seated in the corner booth. Not too bad, but I'm not sure why she passed up so many open booths. Literally every single booth was open! She was very awkward and seemed really uncomfortable. When our waitress came to take drink orders she was very nice. She brought our drinks and took our order. She was unfamiliar with the menu and made sure to let us know she had no waiting experience, which I think is a little unprofessional. When our food came out it was brought by two random servers. My pancakes were wrong, I had to send them back and once again the food was VERY SPARSE and improperly cooked. They only give about half the amount of hash browns and fried potatoes as other IHOPs, eggs were under cooked, and so was the bacon. My husband's meal should have come with 4 sausages, he got 2. My son only got his crepes, they forgot the rest of his meal (eggs, bacon, hash browns) and we had to ask for it. A few minutes later we saw another server walking around with my son's food trying to give it to other tables. He gave up after a few tables and took it back to the kitchen. Finally they realized it was ours. While sitting in this restaurant we heard almost every server apologizing for random things, not only to us, but other customers too. They were getting salads wrong, didn't know the soup of the day because "I'm sorry, I don't know what it is because we didn't have soup yesterday" what?! We heard a couple things being blamed on 'the system' which I knew was just an excuse. I've worked as a waitress, it's not that hard. I do understand if you're new to it, but this place is just ridiculous.
My family and I go to ihop often and this is by far the most uncomfortable, awkward, and unfriendly ihop we've been to. The staff is not trained and the cooks are not experienced. We were excited this one opened in LS, but will not be returning. The Arlington and Everett locations are far, far better in every way. And they also offer 'kids eat free'. read more
