On Sunday October 1st 9:30-10:00. The hostess Marta, was seating people that were not on the waitlist. We we're on the waitlist as number 2, Marta seated 3 Hispanic parties before she seated the 2nd couple ahead of my party. Is this the way that business is done at the Chester VA location? If so, I'll inform everyone to beware of this practice. read more

very bad service, I was there with my wife and two children. The client does not deserve bad attention, the job consists of always being available to the client, with respect and patience! read more

The holidays are over and everyone is talking about hitting the gym. I went to IHOP. I typically avoid chains, but IHOP brings back wonderful memories (family) and fuzzy memories (drunken friends). A visit was long overdue. Got in there early New Years Day. Forgive me but I forgot the servers name, but she was great. Competent and friendly, I liked her. I had buttermilk pancakes, sausage links, orange juice and coffee. I love that they leave the coffee pot for the table. My meal was delicious and filling (pancakes after all). It was a good way to start my year 2013. I know that IHOP and good music do not usually go hand in hand, but on this morning I heard Whisper To A Scream by Icicle Works (a great song) and a Lindsey Buckingham song I really like but cannot recall the name. I do not know who the DJ is at IHOP but I salute. Happy New Year from me to you... read more

Considering it is Saturday AM and all places are packed, we were pleasantly surprised to find that we did not have to wait long at all. The waiter was very friendly and helpful and attentive considering the place was completely packed. The food was not bad. I ordered the chicken fried steak breakfast platter thing and thoroughly enjoyed bits of warmed up chicken fried steak and gravy and even the delicious scrambled eggs. We will be BACK! read more

Did you seriously move the staff from the Colonial Heights location to the Chester VA location? We were going there frequently and now the chester store is actually WORSE than the horrible mall location. We have never had someone actually make it clear they were not going to give us any service until last night. We came in and had a group with 2 kids. One needed a high chair. My friend after 15 minutes waiting went and got it himself. This meant in a pretty empty restaurant you had a customer go into the wait area, get a chair and walk back to the table with no staff helping. The manager was working in the kitchen I guess because they needed help. Again the location was empty where the staff had less than 1 table per server. We had the fun of watching our server chat with a table across from us for roughly 20 minutes. She made sure to not look at our table. I waved and said Hey but she made good time going to the back. She ignored us so long the table she paid attention to paid their bill and LEFT! She walked them out then went to the back and didn't come back. We waited and tried to get the attention of the other staff. They would not look our way. I don't know what was going on but 3 adults and 2 kids are hard to miss. After the half hour wait we got up pretty loudly and walked out. No one asked to help, see what was going on or even say good night. Hilariously I held the door open for another couple and and they noticed us and said have a nice night. Not the girl standing at the register staring at the window. We were seated at Cracker Barrel with a really nice waitress and had food on our table but the kids were cranky as we wasted so much time hoping to get dinner. Seriously this location has managed to go from a nice place to get a cheap ok meal to never again. I just cant believe the difference from the last time I ate there. read more

Service was great. Food was accurate and delicious. The hostess even remembered our name from checking in and checked on us later on. Servers and staff worked well together and food came quickly. Great experience. read more

Omg. This was one of the worst eating experiences I have had in a while. We had the misfortune of sitting across from the kitchen which was very loud so much so that engaging in any type of conversation was pointless. The food was ok but it was obvious the pancakes were too large for the plate yet they were served to me any way. No more visits to this I Hop location. It is the 21st century, why are orders still being screamed to the cook? By now they should be digitized. read more

I went today with my family hoping to enjoy a nice lunch. I ordered "The Classic" which was a burger on the menu. My brother ordered an order of pancakes. The server then comes to me asking if I wanted my sandwich grilled or crispy. I was confused so I asked "The Classic is a burger right?" And she says "yes it is" so I'm still confused so I say grill. After waiting forever for my food (about 30 minutes) she brings me a grilled chicken sandwich. I then ask her isn't the classic supposed to be a burger and she says "yes that's what that is" and I go no this is a chicken sandwich I wanted a burger" in which she says "I don't know the difference." And I tell her well a burger is meat and this seems to be a chicken sandwich, not a burger" and she then asks for to replace it with a burger. She started getting an attitude and I didn't feel like waiting 30 more minutes so I just stayed with the chicken sandwich. They also only brought my brother ONE pancake when he asked for an order of pancakes and that's usually two pancakes. I think managers need to retrain their employees on the menu items because i really don't know where it went wrong. I even looked online to make sure I didn't order something wrong but our server was certain that it was a chicken sandwich that I ordered. read more

IHOP - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Chester, Virginia

I do not know what happened to the IHOP brand over the last few years, though it seems they are on a downward spiral of suck. My order was late, incorrect, and to top it off lukewarm at best. The server did not seem to know the menu, nor did they seem to have any actual interest in doing their job. STAY AWAY!!! There are other options not far from this location that can offer a much better dining service. read more

Cost way too much. Daughter and I had what I thought would be a quick breakfast while waiting for traffic to die down. Menu prices extravagant for a pancake house ... then we walked out and see all the "budget" menu prices on the windows. Piss poor service when they don't give you the menu for the "budget" breakfast and you have to read it on the windows outside. :( read more

when you are seated in the dining room you can hear the managment yelling at servers for the smallest mistakes it is a negative environment and definitely made my group uncomfortable. i believe the managers name is Ed. the host continues to seat people while the entire restaurant is on a wait and there are typically only two servers during the busiest hours. not very good service. read more

If i could leave less than half a star i would. I went to get breakfast by myself and it was TRASH. I ordered crispy bacon and it was burnt a chewy I don't know how you accomplish that. The server was great it's just the food was trash. Only reason i went he was because the wait for Cracker Barrel was too long. Sometimes IHOP is great but this location is garbage! read more

I eat here often. The service is sporadic. More to follow. The place is clean and serves food befitting an IHOP and is middle of the road as far as its brethren is concerned . I will return. It's a nice place for a long breakfast. You never know if it's going to be fast or not. Expect service problems. Orders get lost often. Waitstaff has to be reminded to check ticket times. Southern charm abounds. The front of the house staff is very friendly and bends over backwards to resolve problems. Back of the house has issues. Order delays are frequent. To sum it up. Good food for an IHOP, charming wait staff and frontline managers that aim to please you. Clean! Expect delays and check on your order often. There are some really good waitresses/ers there. remember to tip them well. You will know them by their service. read more

Tried this location after there being no hostess at the Colonial Heights location. The same thing happened. Nobody there to seat anyone and stood in line waiting to just talk to somebody about being seated... I didn't know IHOP was now a night club with little to no entrance. I just left after 15min of this and went to a Cracker Barrel. read more

When we first walked in we were waked from one side to the other of the restaurant. Instead of putting us in a clean section we are set in a section they are sweeping while we are sitting there. We waited for over and hour for our food and could see food sitting in the window for over 15 min and watch the waitress put it in the microwave before taking it out. While they are cleaning knocked all the syrup in the floor and just picked it up and put it back on the table without wiping them down or cleaning. Silverware that was brought out "wrapped" was stuck from dirt and food after having to ask for it to start out with. There was 3 other tables that came in after use and others were finishing up so the kitchen wasn't stressed. I worked in the industry so I'm not just complaining. When the food comes out it's all burnt read more

As far as IHOPs are concerned, and please remember, I'm rating an IHOP; this particular location is one of the good ones folks. The food is good, the service is decent and they blast the food out to you in no time flat. They listen to your order and try to help you choose alternatives without getting you to spend more money. I know that my wife chooses crazy combinations and other locations would just chalk it down and serve it; this location helps her choose a combo and with alternatives and saves money. The biggest negative about this place.... Don't go on Sunday mornings. Once the local churches let out, that place becomes a nightmarish wait. read more

My family and I visited this location on a Sunday. The restaurant was extremely busy of course but we expected that and patiently waited for our table. Once we were seated we placed our order when the waiter came to the table. He was resablie annoyed that we order our food before he asked. When our appetizer came out the chicken tenders were burnt. (I couldn't believe the manager was checking the food and allowed those to come out). When we told him he just stated he would take them off our order. (No apology or offer to replace them) He walked away so fast we couldn't ask him for utensils. When I asked for utensils he returned with plastic utensils throwing them on the table with no explanation but everyone else around us had silverware. I immediately became frustrated and felt as if he had made preconceived judgment about myself and family. Once I walked over to ask for silverware he stated I didn't know you wanted silverware and they didn't have any clean utensils. I lost my appetite and cancelled my order. I would not recommend this location. read more

I think that IHOP has some of the best omelets around. The pancakes are always good. They always have some kind of special and you can't beat the prices for the specials. If you are a senior then you need to go on Tuesday evening from 4:00 to 9:00 for the senior deal. read more

Absolutely ridiculous. We get told a day before for a large party to do call ahead seating. Tried calling 12 times with no answer. When I get to the restaurant I'm told that they were told not to answer the phone and I should have used Yelp instead. Told that the wait was 30-45 minutes after over an hour, still no seat and we see other parties behind us on the list getting seated. Finally gave up and went to another restaurant next door to be able to eat in a reasonable amount of time. read more

IHOP is not a trendy or upscale place, just our family's favorite place to go for a weekend or day off, get-out-of-the-house fun breakfast. They provide good, tasty food, and it is reasonably priced. For those over 55, their senior specials are exceptionally good deals. The wait staff is friendly, chatty, quick to check up on your needs and quick to provide. The 20-minute wait on weekends is a testament to their popularity, and while you wait you can strike up a conversation with the friendly stranger sitting next to you. read more

Service is horrible, management is rude, and the food is mediocre. How do you mess up bacon and eggs? Will be going to the local waffle house from now on. read more

A group of 10 of us were on are way to Myrtle Beach, SC when everyone was hungry. We agreed on stopping at this Ihop. It was busy and we had a lot of people in are party so there was a 20-25min wait. When we were being seated, the table wasn't big enough to fit all 10 people. So the rest of are party sat in a empty booth next to the table. The service was fast enough. They brought everyone their drinks, then we ordered are food. They brought are food without messing up anyone's order. I got pancakes with blueberries of top. With bacon, eggs and toat. The food was so great. Ihop has the best pancakes. So in the end everyone was pleased with this Ihop. read more

My daughter and I decided to have a late breakfast. We both ordered the combo plate, mine with the Mexican Les Treches pancakes and my daughter got the cinnamon pancakes. When our order came my eggs were runny when I ordered over-medium, bacon wasn't crispy and portions of my hash browns were barely cooked. The nasty part was that on the whipped cream on top of my daughter's pancakes was this strand of long hair that looked like it was placed there. She asked for a replacement and the waitress came back and said that they were out of cinnamon. So my daughter just asked for the regular pancakes. Then we asked for more creamer for our coffee and they were out of that. It really makes me wonder when restaurants run out of things what exactly is management doing. I used to be an assistant manager for a locally owned drive-in chain and had the authority to go purchase things at the supermarket across the parking lot using money from the petty cash box. Don't remember if Food Lion is in the same area or up the street a block, but come on man. After this assistant manager position I worked in tourism for 17 years and customers always came first ( without reason). I feel not running out of things is within reason. read more
