My husband and I are ihop in beckley wv two weeks in a row. Our first visit went well so when traveling back through for my dr appt, we stopped again on this past wed. The server was immediately rude and continued to be throughout the meal. I made an offhand comment to my husband "there went half her tip!"I assume she overheard that comment.... Ordering my second ice coffee, it notably tasted odd but after stirring it I accepted it as a fluke; until we left. I finished my drink and I SIGNED The receipt tipping $5.00 putting it in myself manually. In the taking lot I starting aching in my belly so he took me next door to Kroger. I got the the restroom and staying getting flushed, sweating profusely, blurry vision, labored breathing I was truly scared not knowing what had happened, violent diarrhea and vomitting. The lady in the next stall had to rush n call 911. After vomitting several times in the ambulance I was fine. Other than facial swelling and felt ill all evening my symptoms disappeared mostly. I made a police report and went to my dr. Our suspicion is Visine poisoning. Please be careful with who u let handle what goes in your body. This girl could've ended me, with diabetes COPD, a broken foot, high blood pressure ... I feel truly lucky td she did not take me away from this worof. No cameras no proof bc no one saw a thing and management isn't admitting any liability; just be grateful the door to ihop in Beckly is closing soon. Watch out for that server though. I love the food here and remember loving the Grinch line of food here a few years ago but it takes far too long to get the food that should be fairly simple to make. The service is fine and it's not the cleanest, but the food is decent if you have time to waste. read more

This might have been the worst place I have ate in my entire lifetime. The service took about an hour, we got seated 25 minutes after we walked in, we placed our order for breakfast, after I got out of there it felt like it was time for dinner. This iHop is the best! My husband and I were traveling and stopped in late because we hadn't stopped for something to eat. The ambiance was nice. The waitress was super friendly, and the food was great and timely. The best part is, they were open. This iHop is just off the interstate system in Beckley, WV and caters to travelers as they are open 24 hours on Friday and Saturday and it doesn't hurt their service and food quality. I came here a year ago today for my brothers birthday and it was just a simple little day. I ordered chicken tenders im pretty sure. It was all good until I see the inside of the chicken tender that I was holding. It was red inside I'm pretty sure it was still raw. I don't think it's supposed to look like that. I put up a picture and of the other food I had gotten which I liked and tasted normal. The service was good. They were nice but we didn't complain about the food or the chicken tender because we didn't want to make it a big deal which it kinda was but am I over reacting?? read more

Stopped while traveling through, we actually stopped for a different restaurant but they were closed and well we had to work with what was available. Front end staff was friendly and timely, but we were sat a a booth that was broken that felt like you were falling when you sat down and then you felt every movement from the person behind you. Bathrooms were clean and there was plenty of parking! Décor was standard for a IHOP. The downfall is we waited forever for the food... like 45 minutes for two people and it was not good at all. If I could give it a 0 star I would. Went here and got "Mary" I think was her name. Took 20 mins to get our drinks and after an additional 45 mins our food still didn't come. We ended up just leaving. VERY unimpressed with this ENTIRE establishment considering I watched many servers here not pay any attention to their tables. read more

Haven't been to an IHOP for several years... been REALLY wanting to go to one, so we did on our trip. Understaffed! We had to wait about ten minutes to get seated. Looked like two waitresses on duty when we got there. Not a lot of customers either. One waitress seated us, then the other waited our table. Took a while to order. When we got our food, mine was cold. Scrambled eggs were rubbery, cold pancakes. Tiny coffee carafe on the table for me and my wife. Took a while to pay our server as well... she looked really apologetic trying to get to us. I can't blame anyone but management. If there were more employees working front of house, maybe I would have enjoyed my food more... if it was hot and fresh. We stopped at this IHOP on our way to Myrtle Beach. IHOP was the only place that could accomodate a party of 9 with a minimal wait. The food was typical of any IHOP. You cant go wrong with an omelet in my opinion. The one thing that stood out about this IHOP was the manager Bryan. He personally greeted everyone in my party and was very welcoming and accomodating. The only reason this place is getting 2 stars and not 1 is that the bananas foster French toast was delicious, and the coffee was fresh. Those were the two good things about my breakfast. Service was horrible, our waitress, Luz A, was rough and would shove plates right in our face and not say anything. Didn't set anything down but handed us very hot plates, no warning. Don't ever shove something into a customer's face, it's incredibly rude. She also took forever to get us refills on water. For our food, we waited 40 minutes after ordering to get our food. It was not especially busy so I'm not sure why it took so long. When our food finally came out, it was only a portion of our meals. I got my eggs, bacon and hash browns but waited another 5 minutes for my French toast, and another 10 minutes for my toast. My hash browns were cold, my eggs that were supposed to be over -medium were over cooked and the yolks were hard. I didn't not complain because our waitress was already in a crappy mood and I didn't want to wait another half hour. I would definitely not come back. As a customer you don't want to be treated like you're an inconvenience. read more

I stopped at this IHOP on my way home from my Nashville book signing. It was my last breakfast for a trip for months, so I was looking forward to a good last one. Boy, what a disappointment. The server was okay. She didn't really do anything wrong, but she wasn't present except to take my order and bring the cheque. Someone else brought the craptastic food. I ordered a Pablano Omelette and asked that the pancake batter be left out. It was, which is a good thing since I am gluten-free, but the taste was just off. The omelette was a cheap version of others I've had at other chain locations. They skimped on the ingredients and it was apparent. I looked at the allergen menu and was ecstatic to find their hashbrowns were gluten free. Guess what...they said they had none available. I don't get to eat those often, so I was very disappointed. Of course, on the way out, I heard someone else asking and the hostess said the hashbrowns were ready to order...of course. Don't know why they weren't while I was eating. I got fruit instead and it was horrible. Mushy honeydew melon and pineapple...yes, that was all there was to the fruit side. I heard the woman in front of me ask for strawberries for her waffle, but the server said they were frozen so she couldn't have them. What??? There is no effort at this place. The coup de gras was the big ol' FREE WIFI sign on the door. I look for restaurants with that option since my Canadian data is so limited in the states. I couldn't connect and when I asked the hostess, she said it didn't work. Well, then take that sign down! The food was so below average. I was really disappointed that my last breakfast out for a while was so crummy. I don't get to eat out often, sometimes only on my signing trips. I would never darken this door again. Hopefully, this is one of the locations the company has decided to close as it is barely passable. The two stars are for the very pleasant hostess who was polite and quite friendly. We waited only 15-20 minutes for seating but waited over 40 minutes for our breakfast We noticed a handful of times our waitress had gone outside for a cigarette break? This particular IHOP strongly deserves two stars thanks to having no tea bags on hand for hot tea at 7:00 A.M. on a cold Sunday morning, setting the thermostat so low that employees wear winter coats and knit caps to stay warm, serving tough pancakes, and pouring cold salsa onto omelettes. Our server, Lucy, did a good job. I hope someone from IHOP corporate reads this and offers her a raise! read more

It is my policy to review chain restaurants in only extraordinary cases. Having survived the frigid night in my car, stuck on I-77, and finding even McDonalds closed due to the blizzard, the OPEN sign at IHOP was a pleasant site. I hadn't eaten much for the better part of a day. When I asked the gentlemen (in the truest sense of the word) shoveling snow at the door if they were open, he indicated cheerfully that they were, 24 hours a day, everyday of the year. He held the door and was especially helpful when he heard we were one of the many who'd been stuck on the highway. I love IHOP and go fairly regularly at home. This time was no different, except for the relief of being off the highway. There were a few other patrons in the place, mostly folks who'd had the same experience we'd had. Service was great, the chicken fajita omelette, my fav on the menu, was just as good here. The coffee was excellent. Thanks to the IHOP folks in Beckley for staying open in spite of the official call to close businesses and get off the roads. read more

I know IHOP is an expensive option for breakfast but personally I always feel that this location never fails to satisfy. You get a large quantity of food, their staff is very polite, and the food quality is well above average. For Instance, bacon usually comes out soggy and very greasy, but here it is crispy and only slightly greasy. I come here very often with my wife and honestly the best quality about this spot is its consistency. The food is always very good in my wife's opinion, which is valuable since she orders different things while I always stick to my favorite. Really the only negative with this IHOP for me is it's a bit of a drive away and the bathrooms can be in rough shape depending on the time of day you visit. Well. It's IHOP. Not much more to say. The service here is kind of slow, almost as bad as Logans. I paid $3 for old watermelon rind and a few grapes and honeydew pieces. The pancakes were normal, as was everything else. We came here for burgers once and it took them half an hour to get it to us and it wasn't even that good. Their breakfast is much better. read more
