We went here tonight for a family dinner as you do on the bank holiday weekend. We had 7 adults and 2 children so we reserved an area in advance just in case and we're lucky we did - it was jammers!
The food was good quality as usual. I had the vegetable soup to start and the carbonara for mains and both were decent enough, especially for pub grub. Everyone else had the strawberry pavlova for dessert and seemed to enjoy that too so it was very good overall.
Ive only given 3 stars because they were way understaffed for 3pm on a bank holiday sunday. There was one girl doing the food and one doing the drinks - for the whole pub! The 2 girls were clearly under a lot of pressure and we waited quite a long time to order and get our bill as a result. Also, there was a patron controlling the volume on the horse racing on the tv across from us and he had it so loud we could barely hear each other speak. The bar staff should have intervened and lowered the volume to suit all their customers who were eating in the lounge, not just one man who clearly had a hearing problem. read more
