I don't really drink much these days, well compared to my rampages of yesteryear, the idea of going into town to queue up for an overpriced pint in a super pub after being vetted by 2 gorillas on the door does not inspire me.
Brady's is a different type of pub, it's a local and has a decent bit of charm. The food and drink is fine and there's a decent beer garden out back. It's not as busy as it used to be, buts that's down to our stalled economy. For me, the best night is Thursday , pub quiz night. There is generally a good turn out and a bit of fun. I wouldn't take the quiz seriously because there is always a student with an iPhone tapping away during the quiz, hence it's not exactly fair. That said, I go down for the people and a couple of pints. There are a fair few stalwarts in Brady's who spend far too much time there, but that's part of the charm. Last week I bumped into an old friend doing the pub quiz who had been on a 48 hour bender ( was beetroot coloured by the time I arrived!!!) , he nearly won, although the kid with the iPhone pipped him at the post. One thing I do like is the Dj , he is convinced that I look like Bear Grylls ( Tv guy who drinks his own urine among other things) , not sure If I'm to be flattered or not.
