This is my second time trying an escape room. It had boosted my ego, yeee! I actually understood what I'm supposed to be looking for and what not. I think this room is for the lazy people lol... Not that I'm complaining, but here's why. Two reasons... 1. A really small room... Really small. So not much walking around and space to look at clues for. 2. You don't even really need all the clues. With the locks that they used, eventually you can just guess the last number or letter and you're fine. Actually on the very last lock, I guessed 4 out of 5 and was able to open the lock (one of it was given as an example). You really, really have to pay attention though, because every little details have meaning, something we didn't even notice. Overall, it was fun. It's a good place to try out and test how escape rooms are like. One thing I wish they did was tell us how to open the locks. I mean, there were locks we've never used before. If we didn't ask for a clue, we wouldn't be able to open the locks... Period.. Because we weren't resetting it properly. Basically we had the codes to open it, but we didn't know how to use the lock... At all. Unless that's part of the game haha. Still, good place to check out. Oh, also, it's on the second floor. There's a small doorway leading to the second floor. The start of the game is solving the problem of how to get to them, ha! :p read more

The concept was cool but overall didn't really like the experience. I left super frustrated leaving even though I won. Staff was nice. You need to reserve before coming. We enjoyed ourselves this weekend playing the "Defuse" room. The story from the website is this "You as a Counter Terrorist Unit received intel informing you a terrorist group has planted a bomb inside the stock exchange building. You have 45 minutes to defuse the bomb!". We didn't complete our room in time, but had a "blast" anyway. We got a Groupon for $50 for 4 people, $12.50 a person is reasonable if you ask me. The room we were in was not decorated a ton, but we did see a two other rooms that were done up real nice. That being said, how many super decorated offices have you been in? I would come back again, even though we have never escaped a room, we always have fun at these places. read more

Took the family to our first try at an escape room. Per previous reviews, the staff is very friendly and provided us with a debrief before the challenge and provided support when we needed. We tried the Space challenge, and we did find some aspects a bit perplexing than others here in Yelp:). It was a good team experience, and a good vibe to the place. Like other reviews, the price point of about $20.00 with check in came out to $80.00 for 4 people, which was a bit steep for the challenge and value. Other locations are about $17.00 without Groupon and I would ask the kind folks to consider aligning to other locales with similar offers. We went on whim this past Saturday and got the Groupon deal for $15/person. Don't bother paying full price for this one. Disclaimer: We've been to a lot of escape rooms in the city and have had our fair share of awesome to awful rooms. This was on the less awesome side. We completed the 'Defuse the Bomb' escape room. It advertised the room for 2-6 players. I would only recommend 2-3. You'll have people just standing there doing nothing if you go with a large group as there were only 4 main puzzles. The place was unclean. From the door handles to the room props, everything was sticky or had a thick layer of dust. The main prop which held the bomb was broken and when we told the worker about it, she brushed it off and said to continue with the game... The puzzles weren't too bad. It would have been nice to have a few more thrown in to make it more worthwhile. The worker was friendly enough but seemed disinterested about the place. Overall, if you're looking to try out escape rooms for the first time, I wouldn't recommend this place. If you're more experienced, I would recommend trying this place to have a better appreciation of the other fantastic escape rooms you've tried in TO. read more

We finally got around to trying out the space room. The room was okay- the clues didn't have an obvious order so that wasted some time. This was my first time at iEscaped and we decided to go for the easy room (Space) with 3 people. The location of iEscaped is great with Finch nearby for subway access but it was hard to figure out how to get to the second floor where the challenge rooms are located. There's a small door between a hairdressers and another business on Yonge that has the smallest sign ever. I guess getting up there is the first challenge :P The staff was friendly and helpful. They explained the rules clearly and it was not hard to get help from them when we got stuck. When we started we were supposed to find a hidden light source (according to the staff) but she had forgotten to put the box in the room because she was changing the battery. I think we got extra time though because we spent the first 5 minutes tearing apart the room looking for them. Another problem I had was that the rocks in the space room were in bad shape. I assume from people kicking them around. The paint was chipped all over the place and it was super difficult to tell what was written on them. We even figured out the solution but had to get help reading the rocks. I would repaint them if I was the owner. The rest of the room was relatively easy to solve and overall a fun experience but I wish I had gone elsewhere because some of the magic was lost in the struggle to find nonexistent flashlights and read rough shape rocks. I would recommend this to people on a budget though since they always have a groupon for $12. read more

A mediocre experience. Glad I got the Groupon otherwise I would have been really upset. We went to the Defuse room and before we went in, a staff member tried to explain the general rules to us in really broken English REALLY fast and all we got out of it was: don't touch or move things this struck me as odd since most of the time you have to flip the rooms to find the clues in other escape rooms. But of course, we didn't want to get hit with a bill so we didnt touch anything as described. So we wasted 20m staring at the wall's 'first' clue before we asked for help and they MOVED something heavy out of the way. Some colleagues and I who share this sentiment planned our staff Holiday party here to try to get others on board!!! Everyone had a great time!!! First off, the guys running the show couldnt be nicer and friendlier. Thats always nice when you are walking into something you might not be familiar with. The rooms were well designed. The Space room (we escaped) was fun, though a tech element wasnt working which would have been cool to see. Our group was very disappointed with the "Space" room escape. We selected an easy room but were shocked at how short it was. There were really only four "puzzles" and most could have been completed in less than five minutes each. The room itself is quite small and even though the room is advertised as being for 2-6 people, we found that there was never enough to do to keep all of us engaged at one time. The most disappointing part was the ending. The front staff had told us what was necessary to finish the puzzle (verging on overexplaining) but when we got to the end of the puzzle, nothing happened. We pushed the final button twice, and waited. No staff came in and the timer kept counting down. Finally we had to walk to the door, let ourselves out (while the timer was still counting down) and walk to the front desk and explain we had finished. Given that the entire game took us about 20 minutes, we thought that the price was quite high. Especially compared to other facilities in Toronto. read more

Tried this with a groupon and I guess you get what you pay for. We played the Diffuse the Time Bomb game. Expect a first generation low budget one room lock box type room that lacked imagination. Kids working behind the counter and the venue was old and run down (not unexpected for the building/area) Half of our group never tried an Escape-Room before and we still managed to escape in 22 mins. Might be ok for first timers, but more experienced gamers will want to skip this one. read more

This was a very fun, frustrating and interesting experience. If you have never gone to an escape room before, I suggest you try their easier room first. I tried to Las Vegas room with my friends but we had no idea what we we're doing. The girls working there we're kinda enough to keep offering help to us, even extending the time so we can finish the room. The entrance a bit hard to find, but it a small door facing Yonge that lead to a staircase upstairs. Parking is free at food basics as well, but do not park there for more than 3 hours in case you get a ticket. Good luck! read more

This was my third escape room, and probably the closest I've come to actually escaping...! Haha. I guess practice makes perfect? The location is a little tricky to find as it's upstairs in the little building as opposed to having a storefront on street level. My group did the Vegas room, and although 2-6 ppl are recommended, we did it with 3 and it was great. The room set-up was pretty cool, not cheapo or disappointing. We had to figure out a vault code to 'steal billions' while there was a 'fire and evac of the casino'. There were quite a few steps to this room (it was their hardest one of the 4 they have, with a 12% success rate or something along those lines), but we managed to get through to the very end with only a couple nudges in the right direction from the employee. Since it was the hardest room, we got 2 free hints instead of 1, and they were definitely necessary! I'd love to come back and try the other rooms, especially if they are easier since there's a chance I might actually...you know, escape! :) read more

I'd like to have given this place 2.5 stars. Some very good elements and some very poor ones as well. We did their defused room. First the good... With the use of a groupon the price was very reasonable. The room had decent decorations and good technology. Two of the clues were very smart and a lot of fun to solve. The negatives... Other clues had no basis in logic. We spent 20 minutes trying to solve a single clue and when we were given the answer it was hard not to be really angry. I don't believe that many people if anyone would have jumped to the silly conclusion of how to get the correct answer. The person who ushered us into the room gave us information that was very misleading. Finally our room was right next to another, which is of course fine, but they had a large group just outside our room who were loud for almost 10 minutes of our time. They certainly should have been kept in the lobby area. Once in the room they were still very loud, but I imagine not much can be done about that. Back to the positives, the employees asked us what we thought and seemed to care about our constructive criticism. It seems as though they're willing to make changes based on feedback. Ultimately, I don't know if I'll go back again for a second try. They did enough well that I'm tempted, but enough wrong so I might not waste my time. read more

The Abandoned room was super fun! Definitely needs a lot of teamwork with 2 teams split between 2 rooms at first. 2 free hints in 45 minutes. They use cool direction locks for this one and lots of clever letter/number clues. Creepy music sets the mood pretty well. We had 8 people and it's definitely a room that needs lots of people to work together at the same time to win. No tech malfunctions which is a plus. Will definitely be back for another room! Where to start... The place is not so bad to find though it was a little tricky. The staff was friendly and had a nice atmosphere. Though my reason for the 2 stars is when me and my friend played the casino room, it was not the greatest of experience. It was very tacky so to say and the music and lights gave me a headache. I had never been to an escape room before and I heard about some friend's experiences here in Vancouver where they have so many thoughtful props and even move onto a separate room after each stage. One friend had an experience where they each start off in separate cages that are locked. WOAH, intense. Our friends picked this place since we were visiting from out of town and I had a certain level of expectation for the room itself and the prop design. Nothing too fancy here, but I think less props means it is an easier room so not to distract people to the wrong direction? Who knows. We were in the stock exchange room - I thought it was pretty difficult but after solving the puzzles it made a lot of sense. Unfortunately we went with someone who had done the room before (but didn't complete it fully, although it felt like they had...) so that was an edge for sure. We ended up escaping but it seemed like a false experience and that we truly didn't do it on our own, so not a rewarding feeling at all. I recommend not picking a room someone has tried before if you want to really get the full experience. I don't really count this as a true escape room experience because of this, but no blame on the business at all and this didn't effect the star rating since it was our choice. I thought it was still a memorable and I learned that not all escape rooms are the same when it comes to efforts in prop design. It isn't necessary for the game design but it would be a nice addition. I did enjoy the photo taking at the end, the props were fun and cute. read more

I did not enjoy my experience here. Can tell there are attempts to make codes/puzzles interesting but overall I can definitely make the same room at home without too much effort. Some of the puzzles can be interesting, but definitely not worth paying 20$+ for. The clues are hard and if you don't know much about black jack don't do this one. The props were much cooler in the other 6-12 ppl room. Had my first escape room experience last night with my SO, MIL and her friend. We booked 'Lost in Space'. It started off pretty good - we found our light source within 5mins and then we got stuck. Mainly because the props were well worn and hard to read/see. Didnt help that we didnt have fresh batteries and the light was very dim. With people feeling the walls in the dark potential clues were rubbed off and not prominent enough to be read. We buzzed for help twice. Each time the girl came in she didn't look impressed we needed help. Almost like we were interrupting her. We truly think we were missing a clue of some sort. All in all we had a great time for the first 30mins but then it got discouraging and frustrating for us.We would definitely do an escape room again, but probably not this one. Not worth regular price - go for a Groupon instead, even try to get additional 20% thru them too. Not wheelchair friendly - lots of steep carpeted stairs to climb. Good luck! read more

I've done dozens of escape rooms before and compared against say Escape Games Canada, Omescape, and Mayze, this place leaves much to be desired. Without spoiling any details of the room--- I can say while certain individual elements were somewhat clever puzzles, the overall playthrough lacks continuity and immersion/production value. Had a wonderful experience here with my family over the March Break. We had played in the defused room. We had almost made it but we ran out of time. I thought all the puzzles in the room were well thought of, the first puzzle we found so quickly! My children had a blast playing this room and I would recommend others trying it as well. I know that we'll be back to play the space room! Pricing was also very affordable. Normally it's $25 on weekends but if you check in you get $5 off, so we only paid $80 for four people! This was my first escape room and I went with a party of 12 for my birthday. We tried the Abandoned escape room and it was really confused. The props were good but the hints didn't really make sense. The manager was really friendly and gave us a discount for free. I would definitely come back but maybe try a different room and listen more carefully to what she says before going in. read more

Horrendous escape room (coming from someone who has done a few of them). The escape room was poorly designed and the equipment provided for the room was also not working properly. Customer service was also horrible, we wanted to use our available hint and it took 15 minute (despite multiple pushes of the request button) before someone showed up (and this is in a 45 minute escape room). This is by far the worst escape room I've ever done. I would highly recommend avoiding it as it is not at all representative of what an escape room should be like. read more

So disappointing. Took our group of 6 20 minutes to escape. We found that it was very minimally challenging at most. The first clue took us about 10 minutes to figure out, then everything else took basically zero thought power. Not challenging at all. For $20/person that sucks. A dollar a minute for no fun at all. Somewhat underwhelmed by my first room escape experience, I checked this place out with a number of friends. It's new to the scene, and is seemingly run by a single, very relaxed sole proprietor. The entrance is hard to find - park at the Food Basics parking lot and walk along Steeles until you find a small entrance leading to a stairwell. Set design is considerably less engaging than Escape Games, though the puzzles here were consistently challenging, and fairly well designed. I tried the "Abandoned" scenario with about eight people; it requires two rooms, and a lot of amounts of communication through a translucent window. One advantage of this place though, is its price. There's a discount card floating around that a friend got a hold of, and with that - a single game is only $13. Even without it, however, checking into Facebook will get you $5 off the $20 full price. read more

Too simple and not nearly enough puzzles for six people so it is only for a money grab that they allow six to do that room. Go to EscapeGames for the same price and have a way better experience. This was my second experience with an escape room. We did the bomb diffusal and Las Vegas room. We had a Groupon which they let us apply to both rooms as we originally only went in for one room. Clean, complex puzzles, good use of atmosphere and themes. Rooms are on the classic, "simpler" side, in both cases the escape was single room only. Mainly numbers, locks, passwords, keycodes. Limited use of devices, technology, and mechatronics. Would go back to try and solve the remaining rooms. read more

iEscaped was actually pretty impressive! I read a few reviews before going that seemed really negative. However, we got a good deal and decided to go for the experience regardless - and I'm glad we did! Park across the street in the grocery store lot. You won't be there long and there doesn't seem to be any risk for a ticket or tow. The entrance to the upper level of the plaza can be found in between the medical clinic and another storefront. Go straight upstairs, you can't miss it. The host was very welcoming and kind, she confirmed our booking and recognized our Groupon without trouble. She brought us to the room and gave us an explanation of the storyline and what to expect. She was very helpful in explaining a specific lock that we would find in the game. Her English was fine and we understood everything. She even answered our questions without any problems. (This is just in reference to other reviews I read complaining about the hosts' English and explanations) My husband and I chose the 'Defuse' room which apparently is the medium level room. The room was well organized and set up, it helped us really get into it. We used 2 hints, we had no problems with any locks or written clues. We successfully completed the mission with 9 minutes to spare! It was a really well thought out room! Overall, this is a really good location for the price we paid. Even if we had paid full price, I feel like we would've still been satisfied! Only one small complaint: I didn't personally appreciate the hardcore hip hop music with profanity that she was playing at the time. If there were any children under 16 there it would've been really inappropriate. Maybe something for them to watch out during march break and earlier in the day time. If I could give it 0 stars, I would. This place deserves to be closed down; they're clearly only open to get your money. Firstly, the staff are by far the rudest staff I have ever come across. They rushed us in the room even though our entire group wasn't all there. Then they didn't evenly split us up into the two rooms (Abandoned), so we had 6 in one room and 3 in the other. When we told them they should've evenly divided us, the girl said "that's not our issue". Apparently, nothing is their issue. The rooms itself was the most ridiculous setup and the clues didn't make logical sense. You basically just had to figure out how to open a bunch of locks. Also, the rooms were tiny, really cheap and ghetto and covered in stickers that said "Do not touch". Really terrible, not even worth the Groupon value. read more

First time doing any type of escape room and had high expectation.That may have been the first problem. We were booked to do "Space" since we were inexperienced amd this was our first time. The reason i gave two stars and not one is because the guy i spoke to on the phone to book with was really great. He suggested this room. All wemt downhill once we got there and unfortunately it was mostly because of an english second language problem. The girl who was working when we got there gave the world's worst instructions.... they were not only bad, but i had to keep telling her i couldnt understand what she was saying; which i felt bad having to say that, but the instructions were really important. so, she strongly suggested that we play "diffused" so we said sure. we had no clue. Once in, she told us our first clue which was INCREDIBLY misleading. It caused us immense frustration. We had no idea you were supposed to search for stuff so we didnt. That sucked. We had to call for help and waste our one help "ticket" with something we totally could have done ourselves had we not been misled with poor instructions. This led us to get angrier and angrier as the time ticked. With 4 minutes left we were not at all close... wasted too much time. She also gave poor instructions on using one of the locks and none on the other.type of lock (which maybe we're hick), but i had never seen either before. She looked at us like we were crazy when i asked how that lock worked (not the up/down one). So we expressed our problems and asked to do the original room we had booked. She let us, which i thought was only right. However, i couldnt understand her instructions. I told her, and when i clarified that she needed to speak slower, not louder, i upset her... which i didnt mean to. So i gave up on understanding and just wemt in "blind". we had a blast until one of the very last clues which we gave up and called her in. I I convoluted and illogical where that clue came from which really pissed us off. The girl couldmt explain why that clue was created that way, which of course pissed me off more. So we left bitching amd complaining to each other about our frustrations. Glad we got a discount groupon for this one!!!! read more

How does this place legitimize 20 dollars per person for the rooms that they have? We did the ticking bomb room and there was nothing exciting about the room - just a desk with a computer and some books. They really should be putting some more effort into the design. Also, I should mention that we beat the system and didn't have to open two out of four clue boxes. The girl who let us in was also extremely dry and did not even bother greeting us with a smile. We were in the space room and due her directions, spent 15 minutes of wasted time because we ignored something she told us we shouldn't touch - but the clue was there all along. THERE ARE PLENTY OF BETTER ESCAPE ROOMS. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE - THE WORST I'VE EVER SEEN. I did the Abandoned room with 4 other people. The room and puzzles were challenging and fun. However, the reason why I'm writing a poor review is because the customer service was TERRIBLE - the worst I've ever experienced. Here's a brief summary of my experience: 1) the worker was extremely rude; 2) the worker outright LIED TO US to try to convince us to do another room so that she could go home earlier; 3) she put no effort into giving us a single helpful hint and walked into the room saying literally only "oh, you're right." and walking out of the room even before we explained what we needed help with. Now here's a detailed account of what happened for those interested: 1) When I called to book the abandoned room, the receptionist tried to talk me out of the booking because we only had 5 people when the recommended # was 6 people. When I told her we'd still like to give it a shot if possible, she proceeded to book us in but with an extremely rude tone, didn't even take my name or number, and just hung up after saying "okay". 2) When we got there 20mins before our scheduled time, which was 11pm, the same girl I spoke to on the phone proceeded to LIE TO US that their business closes at 11:30pm. She then concluded that we can't do the abandoned room because there was a group ahead of us that would finish at 10:50pm, which didn't make any sense because we arrived well in advance of our scheduled time. She said if we wanted, we could do one of the other rooms instead. On Facebook and their website, they state VERY CLEARLY that their business hours on Saturdays are from 12pm to 12am. Further, if they closed at 11:30pm, WHY WOULD THEY EVEN HAVE AN OPENING TO BOOK A ROOM AT 11PM WHEN EACH ROOM TAKES 45MINS????? When I brought this to the girl's attention, she proceeded to change her story and told me that it was RECOMMENDED that we do another room instead since we can start right away, but that it's up to us. When I told her we really wanted to do the abandoned room and that was the reason why we waited until 11pm, she continued to try to convince us to do the another room. I have no idea what she would gain by having us do another room, except that maybe she wanted to go home earlier that 12am. I've NEVER experienced a representative EVER lie about their hours of operation until tonight. 3) She put no effort into giving us a helpful hint. We were allowed 2 hints. Both times, the worker did not give us any proper hints. BOTH TIMES, when she came into the room, all she said was "Oh, you're right." and just walked out. Yes, of course we're right. That's why we did what we did. But, you were supposed to give us a hint as to how to get to the next answer. In summary, I don't know about everyone else, but I put a lot of emphasis on customer service. I would never pay $25 for this type of service, no matter how good the rooms may be.
