Impressive escape room, top 3 for gta! Group was loving this new place, will be back to try the other rooms soon. Highlights - immersive themed rooms, top notch decor - hints on prompt screen are clear and change with your progress - lighting was right/enough to showcase which area was being focused and dark on others not in play yet. - no key locks or combination locks - success photo stage is automated and complimentary - your stuff/jackets are kept in your escape room with you. Just ok - washrooms are down the hall from entrance, shared with building. 10 second stroll - they sell canned drinks and popsicles - no complimentary board games - no birthday discount/promos We broke out of Shipwreck and below zero. Below zero showed some scariness on their site. It's contained and you are safe, no live actors, nothing will touch you. The suspense was light and done well, pretty sure most can guess when near the end to expect it. My kids would have loved it! Bring an engineer friend for this one, puzzles are a certain style. Shipwreck is so neat! Puzzles are very unique and haven't seen some of these puzzles at other locations before. Would love to gush about them, the puzzle theme is just perfect! They won an award for this escape room and it's well deserved! All puzzles worked properly, timing was good. We did bump a door which tripped the magnets to open(fire safety) and called the attendant. She was really helpful in stalling our time while she reset it back as it was a necessary step. Rooms are big enough, lighting was enough for an older crowd. Bring reading glasses if you kinda need them, as that slowed a team mate down and stalled a puzzle solving situation. Check your friends first for colour blindness, pink or purple? Red or brown? You're kidding me it's orange?? Also surprised we didn't over hear much noise from other rooms. Location: Off of Leslie north of Davis. In an industrial ish area. It's above the pool hall and bowling alley. Parking: Suburbs so lots and freeeeeeeee Building: Old building, you go in the side door and it's upstairs. It's well signed. So you can find it easily. The Place: You walk in and it's like you are walking into a whole different world. When you visit you'll understand. There's a very stark difference between the building and Crypto! You walk in and there's the registrations desk, a bench, and chairs and a lock up for purses and cell phones. The Goods: They have 5 very thought out rooms. I've been 3 times and have enjoyed the experience each time! It's meant for 4 to 8 people. 6 is actually a good amount. Any less than 4 and there are games you can't finish because you actually need at least 4 people (although they change up the games so they may be gone now) The rooms are pretty good. Quality props, smart games and lots of technology mixed in to make the games and time in the room more fun. We came for a corporate team building morning before the Rona times and it was fun. We did a room and then did other team building activities in the entrance room. Catering came in too. I can honestly say its one of my favourite escape room places that I've been too. As a first timer in Escape room, Crypto really really surprised in a positive way. The theming / production value in each room is absolutely 10/10. Crypto Escape Rooms, located in a relatively large facility on the second floor. If you arrive early, there is billiards and bowling available in the same facility to burn some time. At the time of this review, my colleagues and I have completed two of Crypto Escape Games' four available themes: Kilgore Cabin and Below Zero. The lobby features a cyberspace-esque theme, giving off a modern and very sleek vibe. The few tables provided had two classic (emulated and questionably legal?) consoles available, which were all broken and unusable, but hey you're not here for the video games. From a guy who's done various escape rooms across Toronto, from the high-quality escape rooms to the budget one-room wonders, Crypto is a hit-or-miss experience for seasoned escapers. On the other side of the same coin, if you are a newbie to the escape scene then Crypto is definitely an excellent entry point! [Room Review] Kilgore Cabin: On a superficial level, Kilgore Cabin exudes a Friday the 13th vibe with a surprise Jason lurking from the shadows. As a prime-time scardey cat, I can assure you that this escape room is suitable even for those with a faint of heart - there's nothing that will come running after you during the whole experience. You could tell that this room was either conceptualized early as the storyline was on the weaker end compared to the other themes and some of the puzzles were definitely not made with the players in mind (no spoilers). In terms of difficulty, the puzzles are a perfect fit for those looking to dip their feet into escape rooms. However, if you are more experienced, I would definitely steer clear of this one to save yourself from disappointment. [Room Review] Below Zero: This was the first theme my group did when we first visited Crypto. We were enamored with the level of detail and theme of the room. From start to finish, you could tell that there was a lot of time and effort invested in making this an immersive experience. A great highlight about this room is that your decisions change how the storyline plays out (no spoilers)! With that said, the room was definitely below expectations in terms of difficulty as everything was designed to be rather straightforward. However, the excellent storytelling definitely made up for that and left us with a thirst of wanting to come back for more. Whether you are seasoned or beginner, this room is definitely worth visiting for the complexity and consistency of the theme that fit together nicely into an elegant masterpiece from start to finish. read more

This is hands down the best escape room I've ever been to. The entire experience was amazing. The room was great and the details and effects were fantastic. I highly recommend The Lost Shipwreck. It was challenging and a ton of fun. Looking forward to trying all the other rooms! read more

We made the drive out to Newmarket for a new escape room! With it being in Newmarket, there is ample space for the various rooms. The space is shared with a dance hall, so you'll have to go upstairs for the main entrance. Washrooms are located down the hall. Their lobby is a medium size and has a photo booth for pictures after finishing the room or waiting to get inside. The price is $20 weekdays and $25 on weekends. We did the Infiltration Room and the puzzles were cleverly thought out with minimal lockboxes to be solved. Without spoiling too much, it required creative thinking and puzzle solving capabilities. What I love about this place is the space. It's big! The staff are really great as well. We had an honest and long conversation about the best escape rooms in the GTA and it really reflected well on the place. It showed that they (and their staff) understood the industry and what standards to live up to, and how to exceed them. The room we did had really challenging and interesting puzzles. We did Below Zero and Cursed Temple. Both were excellent. We did both with a group of 4. The rooms are high tech, puzzles are interesting and the rooms were all multi-room. We liked that once items/clues were used once, we wouldn't have to use them again. This way we didn't waste time, and there was no need for red herrings in the room. Staff are friendly as well. My friends and I are big fans of escape rooms and at this point have tried numerous throughout the GTA, and I think I can safely say that we may have found a new favourite in Crypto Escape Rooms. Everything from the production value, to the difficulty of the puzzles, to the storyline, to the overall experience was among the best we've done to date. Most escape rooms feature a basic theme for the props or puzzles, and then a series of locks you have to unlock in order until you eventually unlock the room itself. Worse, some are nothing more than a series of math brainteasers that suck all the life and fun out of the game. Sometimes the puzzles can be elaborate, sometimes it's as simple as figuring out the right combination. But the room we did at Crypto, THE INFILTRATION, had a clever theme, and a wide variety of puzzles. There were only a few combination locks to unlock, and far more exciting and interesting puzzles that involved logic, problem solving, and lots of lots of button pushing (which I'm a fan of). There was only one math puzzle, which was a blessing. The puzzles were challenging but never obtuse, and we only had to call for a hint once, and when we were told what we had to do realized that we should have just thought a little bit harder and we would have solved it. This was easily one of the best escape room experiences we've had so far and I can't wait to come back to try their other rooms. Also, they have N64s in their lobby, and that in and of itself is worth the visit. read more
