Oshawa Escape Rooms

Oshawa Escape Rooms

Oshawa is definitely lovely and it's not common to have an escape room vs Toronto/GTA. So I'm…read moredelighted that this place offered one - it's still a nice activity to do. Oshawa Escape Room staff were nice, approachable and funny! They are lively when doing the intro speech and helping to take your photos! Having played numerous escape rooms throughout these years, I have to be honest and compare apple to apples. That being said, Oshawa Escape Room was average. As a group of 6 (P.S. most of us are experienced escape room players), we played the Privet Drive room (of course Harry Potter was the main reason). Everything was all in just one room and all the puzzles were revolving around combination locks. As a result, our group didnt feel there was anything special, different or technology-driven. Likewise, the quality of props and room design was not too good - perhaps back when they opened it was better built. So the concept wasn't bad but it didnt truly give that interactive escape room excitement some other places had, especially when we were expecting more wizard and Harry Potter references. Overall, it's good for starters who haven't done escape rooms and around Oshawa. I also felt for the experience within the room, at $30/person it was little pricey.

Despite there being closer escape room games, I went allll the way here to Oshawa Escape Rooms with…read morea group (four of us total) to do the Harry Potter themed escape room, Privet Drive, which is the hardest difficulty level if I recall correctly. This was my first time doing an escape room (though it wasn't the first time for some of the others) so I didn't know what to expect and I was a tad nervous that I wouldn't be able to solve any of the puzzles. Long story short and in an effort not to give away any clues or hints, my friends and I had a blast! The puzzles were tricky, but not too tricky; and while the Harry Potter theme was definitely cool, you don't need a thorough history of the story to be able to figure things out. Would definitely want to come back here the next time I'm in town to try another escape room - the CSI one was recommended by the front desk ;)

Great idea for a birthday, team ice breaker, date activity or a family event to visit here. It's…read morefun, very active and can get loud at times. Located in a plaza across a McDonald's, there are lots of free parking. Once inside it gets a bit crammed as they do not have any party rooms but a few tables and chairs for waiting parents. They do not serve or offer food at this chain but do permit if you brought in small packaged snacks. There are lockers linked to a wrist band, it easily fit our family of four for jackets and shoes. There are two change rooms as it is highly suggested to wear almost gym clothes, especially if you run hot and clean inside shoes. It's February and the rooms are well heated; plus you're warm from running around. It's quick; tap each player and select levels at the screen, each room is 90 seconds long and the entrance to each game will unlock and open for you to start. It's well organised. Some game rooms have a line but it moves quickly. You will be able to try every room here within your 75 minute session. It's self explanatory, tap each game for info to the rules. We really enjoyed the Mega Grid Room the most, the Strike(asteroid) room, laser room. There are two hoop rooms which are fun, but did not find value in the Push(wormhole) game, or search one. Tap at end of games for points. Points can be redeemed for swag or saved up for later redemptions.

My only criticisms about this place is that they should keep the rooms cleaner and maybe put more bathrooms and water fountains and more rooms because you don't wanna be in line waiting for a room. Other than that great place!

Impressive escape room, top 3 for gta! Group was loving this…read morenew place, will be back to try the other rooms soon. Highlights - immersive themed rooms, top notch decor - hints on prompt screen are clear and change with your progress - lighting was right/enough to showcase which area was being focused and dark on others not in play yet. - no key locks or combination locks - success photo stage is automated and complimentary - your stuff/jackets are kept in your escape room with you. Just ok - washrooms are down the hall from entrance, shared with building. 10 second stroll - they sell canned drinks and popsicles - no complimentary board games - no birthday discount/promos We broke out of Shipwreck and below zero. Below zero showed some scariness on their site. It's contained and you are safe, no live actors, nothing will touch you. The suspense was light and done well, pretty sure most can guess when near the end to expect it. My kids would have loved it! Bring an engineer friend for this one, puzzles are a certain style. Shipwreck is so neat! Puzzles are very unique and haven't seen some of these puzzles at other locations before. Would love to gush about them, the puzzle theme is just perfect! They won an award for this escape room and it's well deserved! All puzzles worked properly, timing was good. We did bump a door which tripped the magnets to open(fire safety) and called the attendant. She was really helpful in stalling our time while she reset it back as it was a necessary step. Rooms are big enough, lighting was enough for an older crowd. Bring reading glasses if you kinda need them, as that slowed a team mate down and stalled a puzzle solving situation. Check your friends first for colour blindness, pink or purple? Red or brown? You're kidding me it's orange?? Also surprised we didn't over hear much noise from other rooms. At another place, there was always screaming next door which got annoying quick. Top 3, give it a try, this is a good one

Location: Off of Leslie north of Davis. In an industrial ish…read morearea. It's above the pool hall and bowling alley. Parking: Suburbs so lots and freeeeeeeee Building: Old building, you go in the side door and it's upstairs. It's well signed. So you can find it easily. The Place: You walk in and it's like you are walking into a whole different world. When you visit you'll understand. There's a very stark difference between the building and Crypto! You walk in and there's the registrations desk, a bench, and chairs and a lock up for purses and cell phones. The Goods: They have 5 very thought out rooms. I've been 3 times and have enjoyed the experience each time! It's meant for 4 to 8 people. 6 is actually a good amount. Any less than 4 and there are games you can't finish because you actually need at least 4 people (although they change up the games so they may be gone now) The rooms are pretty good. Quality props, smart games and lots of technology mixed in to make the games and time in the room more fun. We came for a corporate team building morning before the Rona times and it was fun. We did a room and then did other team building activities in the entrance room. Catering came in too. I can honestly say its one of my favourite escape room places that I've been too. Cost: It used to be a bit cheaper now it's like 31 plus tax but it's quality so you get what you pay for! Will I be back. Um.... Yeah of course!!

Avoid avoid avoid. Worst escape room I've done, quite litterally have done FREE escape rooms better…read morethan this. None of the mechanisms work and the staff don't pay attention to manually start them either. So basically you'll solve a problem and wait around and wonder for 20 mins why nothings moving even if you got it right from the start. Then you have to ask for a clue (which they won't give, it'll just be a condescending phrase that tells you to do what you've already been doing.) then after fighting with them for five min they'll realize it's their fault and manually start it, wasting not just our time but our money. 30 dollars a person is just ridiculous for what this is. If you want more fun lock yourself in a dark closet for 30 min and try to get out, you'll probably feel more satisfied anyways. I will say that we did ignore all of the red flags 1. The bad reviews online 2. The two groups that came out super pissed off before us fighting for refunds cause nothing worked for them 3. How the place looked So kinda on us but... Did this for group bonding and I will say we did bond pretty well over how terrible this was and how much we got scammed, so maybe if you want team bonding then this works for you idk? Definitely tests your teams patience....

So many rooms to go through that it made the experience well worth it. My only criticism would be the staff. We didn't escape the room and only had one section left to get through. When the staff came in telling us we were out of time, the normal procedure would be to walk us through what we had left. Instead, the guy said he was unable to finish a walk through because the next group had arrived. It seemed that he was unwilling to walk us through the remaining aspects because if he did, then he'd have to reset all the puzzles... I've been to quite a few escape room locations and never has this happened before, even if the next group had arrived.. Overall the Osaka High room was pretty cool, but I only wish I knew how it ended.....

I loved everything about the escape room and my friends and I will definitely be back…read more We did the space station with augmented reality and it was so much fun. Definitely the first time I've gone to an escape room that uses a VR head set. The staff is super lovely, the place is very clean and all the other rooms seem like a lot of fun too.

I knew very little about The Imaginarium before I visited this week…read more I have to say it was one of the best escape room experiences I've had in a very long time. The Puzzles We ended up doing two because we had such a good time. We did the Amun Ra room and the Wilshire puzzle. They were engaging and well thought out and had us working together to communicate our findings and surroundings. The production of each room and immersiveness were great. Sometimes the puzzles didn't work PERFECTLY, but the staff were quick to correct it if things didn't work well which was rare The Service The staff were fantastic . All were friendly and wanted to make sure we had the best experience possible. The team was clear with the rules and expectations of each room. Follow the rules and you will have fun. The Value It's just under $40 for each person playing and each room with the minimum of 4 participants is a private booking. I really enjoyed this as I got to work with people I knew and could work off their energies as well. It's worth the money and it's time and money well spent. I'm looking forward to trying the Steampunk room as well as the upcoming Microsoft HoloLens room. I would 100% recommend this place and can't wait to go again. I can't recommend it enough!

Still one of the top escape places in gta!…read more Decor: 5* They have talented artists that decorate the hallway, outside theme doors, and an immersive setting in the escape room. I'm surprised they haven't won more awards for their rooms or close contender bragging rights. Clue: 4* Some rooms have hints on a screen and follows your progress based on where you've progressed. Some rooms are a white button and they'll come into your room to assist you, no walkie talkies thank goodness! Lighting 3* They feel it is enough and the main focus clues are properly illuminated. We feel it's still too dark to read some clues like book titles and request their flashlight every time. Staff 5* All staff here over the years have been awesome! Friendly, passionate, mature and all game lovers themselves. Game puzzles 3*-5* Some are well done, clever and creative. no locks and combos and they progressed to top of the line puzzles. We did find not all were well timed and one finale puzzle just plain lazy as if they lost their puzzle maker. We've done almost all their rooms and even ones they've replaced. The Missing Will: so much potential at the start but with an unsatisfactory end! It's like they ran out of time or money as the puzzles did not compare. The ending was too sudden and we stood there having won but confused this was it instead of their usual wrap up theme. It's not scary at all but with a supernatural theme. It's also perfect for larger groups or friends with adhd. The roles you pick can help give clues and hints for solving your character puzzles aside from the main ones. This is also what makes it frustrating for us, as we want to clear all puzzles and it's not possible/necessary. Pathogen: interesting how the game can change based on your progress, choices and hints. We won with a minute thirty to spare. Bring a friend that reads everything as ours rushed before following orders, one that isn't colour blind, and one that isn't afraid to go somewhere alone. Not scary on this room. Noriko: scary theme! For me it wasn't the doll props and flashy lighting but the background music and special effect noise. I couldn't concentrate very well as I found that triggering and this had the darkest rooms with poorest lighting at their establishment. Tip: Bring a friend that is musical, don't bring friends afraid of scary movies! Crossroads: dark thriller vibe, liked the choice to choose a decision to effect ending, the changing atmosphere to fit the evolving story and ending was fun. My friends liked this room a lot and played it two more times after our win and couldn't break out with the other two groups. Lounge: only standing room now. No board games offered anymore. They sell canned pop and waters, have 3 clean washrooms. Photo board is self run at the entrance on a timer but terrible angle and background. $10 off for back to back games. Free game on ACTUAL DAY of your birthday.
