Date and I came here and they were apparently doing a Valentine's special which meant it was a 5 course meal for 55 dollars a person. It's insane value given it includes a 26 oz steak. The menu changes all the time in terms of the small appetizers you get so I'll skip those. The real draw of the place is the unbelievable mouthwatering melt-in-your-mouth tender massive steak. The owner was nice enough to come by and talk to us about how they buy the beef straight from the farmer and they honey glaze if for hours to get this marbling unlike any I have ever had before. I could barely finish half of my steak and my date couldn't even finish a third. You'll be sure to have left overs that are better than most steaks you make yourself at home for half a week. They also serve this amazing home baked loaf of bread to come with the meal which we also took with us at the end. Hospitality is great and the food is even better. If you have a special occasion and want to do something truly memorable to commemorate it, Gobbler's Roost is the way to go in SW MO.

I made sure to have the gravy on the side to not make the fry soggy. The fry was soggy and lukewarm warm in temp. Lack of seasoning and no crispness is best description. Side salad was something you would expect at a diner. Worst part of the iceberg lettuce. Highlight was the baked Idaho baked potato. Problem is they brought me cold to fozen butter in foil and very cold sour creme. I spent 10 minutes building the potato they could have spent a little time trying to wow me. What spoiled our experience was with interaction with "Bartender" or perhaps manager. When our excellent waitress asked for our choice of drink, we requested the Bread and Butter Chardonnay that we'd enjoyed on prior visits. She informed that it was no longer available. OK... Her advice was Estancia Chardonnay, and we ordered one glass to try. That wine was fine. But... "Bartender" or perhaps manager visited our table to explain in detail how that wine was selected to replace the Bread and Butter Chardonnay. His table visit was also just fine as "Bartender" or perhaps manager displayed our shared passion for quality affordable wines. We went on to enjoy our excellent meal, took leftover pizza boxed, tipped waitress and departed. As we walked out past the bar, I walked near walked, shook his hand and thanked him for his insight on wines. He responded to the effect "We [our restaurant] loses money on wines, only profit from mixed drinks." To which I thought: then STOP selling wine, or stop telling customers not to buy wine!
