Disaster piercing experience. I've never written a review for anything before but had to for this business. One positive thing is that I had amazing interactions with everyone there, especially Noelle who was working at the front desk when I got my initial piercings. Coming into the shop, I was planning on having a few piercings done on my ear. I had already had my ears double pierced and an existing cartilage on my left ear all done when I was younger. I did much research to find the perfect place for what I was looking for and decided on this business. As I was there, we decided I would do a double stack on my lobe - the two gold discs in the photo- (in between the two lobe piercings I already had) as well as a cartilage piercing -pink CZ- (above the one I already had). After hours of finding the perfect jewelry, it was time for piercing. When I met with the piercer, Joanna, she was very sweet and was aware of the piercings I already had. When everything was finished I ended up spending over $600 (service, jewelry, tip). Four-five days passed and I tried putting jewelry into my 2nd lobe (15 years old) to see it altogether. I was struggling to get the jewelry through and I started to think.. did the holes intersect? Why won't it go through? I asked others to see what was happening behind my ear but no one could see anything so I called Identity and explained the situation. The person I spoke with said it might just be swollen and suggested I give it time and then everything should be good. They also said if my earring wasn't going through after some time, just to come in. After 4 weeks, I got my jewelry through and noticed it was hitting the back of one of my new piercings. I asked others to look behind and they said it was either coming out of the same hole or there was the slightest bit of skin in between the two piercings. Please see pictures for reference. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement. I left the jewelry in and a few days later my ear started to swell. I cleaned it and the next day it began to heal with blood and puss leaking out. I believe this was due to irritation of the two piercings hitting together. Yesterday I stopped into Identity and spoke with the people at the front as well as a different piercer who did confirm the new piercing was too close to the already existing piercing I had. She suggested a few options, both involved piercing another location or at a different angle. I didn't want to make any decisions there and honestly I just wanted a refund because if I had the slightest inkling that this could've happened, I absolutely would not have gone into Identity. The owner was not in so they took my information. I spoke with the owner, Molly, today and my only options were for them to take my piercings out and be refunded for the service only, or for them to pierce a different location with my jewelry. I ended up being refunded $70 for service and she said she wouldn't make me come back in for them to remove the jewelry which I suppose was a favor to me. Anyways, I would hate for someone else to have to go through this headache or ruin their ears / already existing piercings so needed to share my experience. read more

I got my nose pierced here back in April, and it was a very smooth and easy process. I made an appointment online, then brought my vax card to the appointment, then just waited a few minutes while they got everything set up. The person who did the piercing was swift and confident in their motions, and it felt like just a small pinch. They used a labret for the piercing, which I was unfamiliar with, but now I prefer it. if you are looking for a simple piercing for your 12 y/o this is the place. they are great for kids and unpierced people. however if you are looking for a more complicated or 'difficult' piercing (I'm not sure how difficult any piece should be for a 'professional' piercer) you will be SOL, they can't do anything on a diagonal, they will but it will just be crooked. changing jewelry on a piercing they don't see every day will also be a challenge. none of the workers were welcoming -- just because you sell jewelry thats 500$ a pop doesn't mean you are a capable piercer. on top of it all, shop smells like musty skunk. in short, I would rather get my nipples pierced at Claire's than go back to this shop read more

This is one of those places that does a good service but you overpay for it. Plan on booking online and waiting up to a month or longer with limited time slots. 2 pierced ears should not cost $140 that includes surgical posts, saline spray and itemizing each item to nickel and dime you. As far as the store itself it was bit over-crowded, piercing rooms small, they had like 5-6 employees in there not sure what they were doing but they had 2 piercers working. It had that Anti-social Vibe playing death metal, so not a big fan of that. Not very punctual so plan on an hour or more for simple piercing. Would I use it again maybe? If you have a complicated piercing this would be the place in the "city" to use but be prepared to pay through the nose no pun intended. read more

This is for the location on Belmont Ave in Roscoe Village but I don't see them on Yelp. Clean, professional, and just overall well done. I had a septum that was done poorly by another shop the Friday before Halloween. I was able to make an appointment with Identity on Sunday and they quickly assessed me, helped me pick out jewelry and made me feel way more secure. My piercer was Itzel and she was able to re-pierce me and did did such a great job I barely felt anything. Everything was incredibly sterile and everyone was super knowledgeable. Plus, the aesthetic of the shop is super cute with a Bee motif everywhere. Will definitely be going back for future work. read more

I forgot the name of the fella who helped me pick out then insert my jewelry, but he was very professional and nice. I arrive just before opening and waited out on the stoop until they were ready. I wasn't greeted but it's fine because once I was in the store he ended up being very nice. A woman who also works there walked in shortly after and offered me coffee, water and candy, which I thought was really sweet....I wasn't really doing anything major or dropping any serious dough. Let's talk about the dough though.... This place is NOT cheap by any means. But they're extremely professional, extremely sanitary and they offered all the goodies mentioned above AND had a phone charge plugged in for people to use. We all could use a little juice for our iPhones am I right? Much appreciated. I chose a small rose gold hoop for my septum piercing. I also asked if he could put it in for me as for some reason it scares the shit out of me to do it myself, he said yes. The total price for all of this came out to about $66.00 That's fair. The staff is always incredibly rude. Sometimes you may get lucky and get someone who is kind but that I have found is rare and I'm referring to both the front desk staff and the piercers. I stopped going to this place after spending thousands here over the last few years because of how rude they are. Another friend of mine had the same complaint. The jewelry is the only reason I have continued to go but have decided it's not worth it anymore. The one on Belmont is okay but also meh. I don't know why everyone is always so angry there. Like are you all okay? Serious question. What is happening there that makes you hate your job? I have bought jewelry here before but on Friday I got my first piercing done by them. The staff has always been very nice and professional. It is a very open and friendly space to be in. You can tell they are very open to everyone and don't judge anyone. Everyone has their own unique style and that makes me very comfortable as a client. Though I walked in at a very busy time, I was seen in no time. Tinker took care of me and calmed my nerves. They were very calm, professional, precise, and efficient. Their bed side manner and energy was impeccable. I got my nipples pierced and I was nervous for obvious reasons but I have to say it did not hurt. Tinker said their nipple piercings were one of the most empowering things they could have done. This spoke to me so hard and I feel that exact way. I was travelling to Chicago for the first time for a work conference, and enjoyed my experience so much that I decided to commemorate it by getting my rook pierced, which was something I had wanted to get done for over five years. At first, I stopped at another highly rated tattoo and piercing parlor in the same area, and they were very friendly! But alas, they didn't have much choice for barbells, and I wanted to try to get something gold, or at least accented. I decided to shop around and ended up at Identity body piercing around 4pm on a Wednesday afternoon. There was only one customer in front of me (who also left happy), and the shop looked professional and clean. The man staffing the counter's name was Tinker and he was incredibly friendly and patient while I asked about prices, etc. I finally ended up getting a silver barbell, but with champagne-colored accents. They had a pretty wide selection of colors and styles! The basic barbell would have run me about $80 (including piercing), while the one I selected ended up being about $110. Styles I looked at run all the way up to about $195 (for a 14k [I think] gold barbell). Tinker first established positive rapport by making friendly conversation while I was getting settled on the table, and he was thorough with the disinfecting. As he was piercing my ear, he talked me through the process and let me know when I would be expecting the pain. It wasn't very painful, but then again, I have a pretty high pain tolerance. It was over quickly and I was very pleased with the work when I saw it in the mirror! Tinker went over my after-care, answered any questions I had, and even recommended some tattoo and piercing places in California (where I'm from) for when I'm ready to change my barbell. He gave me three different recommendations in three different places near me! Finally, he took a picture of my new piercing, upon request, and I left very happy. Bravo! read more

Went in twice. The first day I didn't have my COVID card on me but was told by the front desk that a photo or pdf is fine. Came back the next day with a photo and another girl said ok you have to have a paper version. The first girl was standing there and I said I spoke to you yesterday and you said a pdf or photo was fine. She proceeded to lie and say she never said that. My friend and I went into get piercings. Mine a Tragus and hers a rook. We heard the places was the best in the city. I loved how much jewelry options they had and the fact that you didn't have to choose the typical sterling silver, non-jeweled earring for your new piercing as I've had to do for my of my other piercings (tongue, lip, industrial, etc) so I chose a jeweled Tragus ring. When we went in my friend went first and got pierced by a guy, another Piercer observed and asked him questions so I assumed she was a student learning. However, when it got to my piercing, he left and she did it. It was ok for a week but I believe the problem was that the jewelry was too short and she didn't pierce it so the flat back could be flush against my skin. It was angled so the front jeweled piece was digging into my skin. After two weeks I had what looked like a keloid or blister, I went back into ask if I could switch to a longer jewelry with a round end. Given I was using the salt spray they told me to use 2x per day and not sleeping on it. I've never had any issues like this for my other piercings. The same lady was there who pierced me was there, took a look and said it was fine and that if the jewelry was longer it might get caught on my hair and create more issues. Two weeks after that my ear completely swelled over the earring with a blood blister, so I went in immediately and had her take it out. Same lady again and only her working there. Overall frustrated by the experience and confused at why this happened. My friend who got the other piercing was fine. read more

I came in wanting to get some new bling for my nostril piercing and was immediately greeted right at the door and they put my name in to be helped with a professional. They offered me refreshments and candy while I waited and you can tell that this place is kept in such good shape- it felt exceedingly clean and I was 100% comfortable! The workers here helped me pick out exactly what I wanted and let me see what other studs would look like, but when it came time to change my nose ring out, I asked for them to help me. The piercing exchange took no-joke 30 seconds max and everything about this place is efficient, customer-friendly, and clean! I will be back for sure! There were people with appointments before us, and while we waited the employee who helped us was SO kind and helped us figure out jewelry we wanted. She was super helpful and looked up prices for different pieces for us and helped us find jewelry in our price range in such a sweet way. The piercing rooms are individual but close together and bright and clean and the interior design is very cute there's lots of places to sit and wait outside the rooms as well! I have wanted a nose piercing since I was in high school, but I have been too scared for years. Over the last couple months, I have been working up the nerve to get it done. Like the teacher I am, I did tons of research, went back and forth, and read a million Yelp reviews for shops. I came across Identity and called the shop to inquire about the cost and the process. Molly answered the phone and was so warm and welcoming on the phone that I knew today was going to be the day. With my best friend in tow, we walked into the shop and were again warmly greeted by Molly. She is SO sweet. She walked me through the process and helped me pick out the stud I wanted for the piercing. We waited around for a bit and looked at all the beautiful jewelry while she got everything sterilized. When she was ready, Molly took us in the back and again walked me through the whole process. She made it a point to show me that everything was sterilized and clean, and I felt confident she knew what she was doing. Literally about 5 minutes later, I was pierced and ready to go! I also loved how Molly literally talked me through everything she was doing as she was doing it. After we were done, she spent a little time taking me through all the aftercare for the piercing and was really clear with what I should do. Now, the only regret I have is that I didn't get the piercing sooner! This is a great shop, and Molly is so nice. I really liked identity, they have an amazing selection of earrings. They may be slightly expensive, but they're made of great materials and will last a long time. I got 3 piercings but purchased 4 earrings. The facility was very clean, they also had an amazing sterilizing system that made me feel very confident and comfortable. The associate that pierced my ears spaced them out, she then asked me what I thought and made adjustments based off my preference. She pierced with the needle technique and was extremely light with her hands and it didn't hurt at all. I took my baby sister in today to get her ears pierced.I had done some research and saw that this shop got amazing reviews, ect. We arrived about 2pm. It's a Sunday before NYE, so I assumed they'd be busy, but we weren't in a hurry and knew we'd just be a walk in. I have both nostrils and my septum pierced and wanted to grab some jewelry that I wouldn't have back home. Yes, I live in Nashville and am in town visiting my family. We have beautiful shops in town, but their "online" shop looked incredible so I picked this one to shop for expensive pieces. This is where the whole experience goes south. Bear with me. We walk in and the girl at the desk is super cute and friendly. You can tell she's a little stressed (the shop is packed and lots of people waiting), but she remained upbeat and smiled. We out down our name, gave the needed information, and started looking at jewelry. There were probably 4 people in front of us, and only 3 staff members there. All of them were around my age, maybe younger. They just seemed frazzled. The girl piercing, Madison, was constantly moving in and out of the room. She always washed her hands and greeted people kindly. The other girls working are another story. The main girl at the counter was trying her best, that was clear. The other girl working was just extremely rude and unprofessional. I don't know her name, she was very short with me and acted as though I was wasting her time, when In fact I was looking at 200$ pieces of jewelry. She was petite and had short brown hair. The girl working the desk and the girl helping customers with jewelry had aero communication with one another. The sign in sheet was a mess, Madison was confused as to who was next or what people were getting and the girl at the desk was overwhelmed. At this point I'm extremely uncomfortable, and I considered leaving. I even asked about other parlors in the area. Anyway, I kept asking about pieces, and the girl was super annoyed with me. She didn't know any of the pricing on pieces and had to look through 2 different iPads and her phone for pricing. For multiple pieces she just kept saying "idk I can't find it." Also, Molly, if you read this, your staff mentioned you a lot. Saying "oh i don't know, Molly does/handles that." "Molly is on vacation I'm not sure." "Oh only Molly knows where that would be." Which is extremely frustrating. I'm there for one day only and it seemed like nobody knew how to do their job unless Molly is there with all of the answers? Needless to say I gave up on getting jewelry. The girl was rude and honestly not giving 300$ of my money for BVLA jewelry that i can just order from a shop in Nashville. I would like to say though, to have pieces in certain styles and brands and NOT even know a range that the piece could be in is mind blowing. Saying "you still want to see something else or should I move on to her" when I'm at the counter is ridiculous. I'm a customer there to spend money and leave with new jewelry, and I made that very clear. I was seriously blown away but this girls attitude. Anyway, moving on the the actual piercing. I can't believe we actually waited, but my sister was excited and we had been planning this for awhile since we never see each other. Madison was extremely professional. She had a calm demeanor, which is SO important to have as a piercer. Room was clean. Tools were new each time. Everything was nice and organized. Sister got pierced and we were out in 10-15 min. Madison actually came out and checked us out with was awesome. I have her a tip in cash and thanked her for being so wonderful. I acknowledged that I was thankful that she was so kind and pleasant despite being super busy, and said that they honestly should've had another piercer on a Sunday for the holiday weekend. Hoping she'd maybe say something to this Molly woman, who is either a manager or owner. Overall, I can't believe I stayed. Zero organization. Unprofessional. Inexperienced FOH staff. I'm writing this and hoping that it was just an off day, and that they were busy and overwhelmed. Yet I can't help but feel like if the staff was more experienced, my experience would have been better? I was uncomfortable and irritated. No acknowledgement from either of the girls up front with an "I apologize/sorry we are just short staffed or busy blah blah." Just snarky service to me from a girl who honestly needs a chill pill and some more training on their stock/pricing. I think the girl at the desk handling the books just got lost and flustered, but overall the entire experience was just messy and annoying. If I lived here I would maybe go back on a week day again, just because their jewelry selection is pretty solid, and Madison seems like a wonderful piercer with a lot of experience and knowledge. I think 3 stars is generous. 129$ for lobe piercings with basic stud jewelry. read more

Really good selection of piercings. I got my industrial here two years ago, but it did take a long time to heal because the bar they gave me was a bit too small for my ear. When I recently went back to get labret studs, the person who helped me was really quiet. I was the one making small talk and jokes with not much response. As I pulled my mask out to point at the side of my nostril where I am talking about the jewelry the woman working there yelled at me to pull up my mask! I got two cartilage piercings from Madison Trubiano there and she was so kind and asked me many questions--positioning of the piercing, if I was later going to want a hoop in, marked where she was going to put it and double triple checked with me to make sure it was where I wanted it. Everything went smoothly and they were very professional in terms of sterilization of jewelry and overall care/cleanliness of there space. When I was picking the jewelry at the beginning, I told the person at the front what I wanted (as I had looked on there website beforehand--https://identitybodypiercing.com) they didn't have one of pieces I wanted (it was very popular) but was able to give me a multitude of similar jewelry. They also respected my budget and was able to do in house anodizing for no additional charge! In conclusion, there is no better place to go than here. I went and got a nose piercing done last week by Itzel. She made me feel very comfortable, and did a great job! This morning, I remembered that I was not able to have my nose piercing in during my MRI. I showed up at Identity right when they opened, and was panicked and flustered. Chris (Von Zeleny) really showed up for me. He was upset on my behalf because of the misinformation the doctors had told me (Identity Piercings are 100% Titanium and are okay to be in MRI machines!) But he was willing to go out of his way to swap my piercing to a plastic retainer for the procedure and then to re-pierce my nose afterwards. He was so helpful and gave me so much information that I felt totally comfortable, and he also was very professional and quick in his piercing. I have probably written one other Yelp review in my life, but I was so impressed I took down his name so I could make a Yelp review!!! I had my nostril repierced and first time septum by Madeline on Monday! Immediately upon walking in, you'll see and smell how clean the studio is. Was in and out within the hour, but the staff were constantly sanitizing in between clients at the jewelry bar and in session. You'll have plenty of options for jewelry from more affordable titanium to precious metals/stones. It was fun to browse while waiting and the staff is very knowledgeable and personable. The actual service was around 10 minutes-- quick and painless. Madeline made sure I was comfortable and am happy to report that less than 24 hours later, I have hardly any tenderness and no pain. I got a tooth jewel done here and the guy gave me an actual chemical burn on my face. I'm guessing it was from the adhesive and he got a glob of it above my lip which is now raw and in extreme pain. He also didn't even clarify which tooth I wanted it on before he put it on. Update: They were super nice about it and let me switch the tooth without paying the service fee.
