After getting tattoos at nearby Good Omen Tattoo, I declared today body mutilation day & decided to treat myself to piercings. The shop takes walk-ins as long as you show up before 8pm. The selection here is incredible. I asked for "the more affordable jewelry" so I was guided to a glass display of stunning studs. I forgot to get their name, but the person helping me pick out jewelry suggested I hold (with prongs) the stud I first picked up to my nose, which was a blessing bc it would be WAY too big for my tiny nose! I appreciated the chance to hold jewelry up (with proper hygiene) bc it rly does look a lot different when you hold it up to your face. I wanted a hoop for my second nostril piercing, but was told they only do studs for new piercings, which makes sense bc there's less surface area that could otherwise cause infection. I got a round stud for my nostril, & a square stud for my Medusa. I had my Medusa before, but my lip ate it (don't ask) and the amount of scar tissue kept me from being able to be re pierced for a while. Izlet was my piercer, & made sure my upper lip was healed enough to be repierced. She asked which piercing "scares me the most" but I really enjoy piercings so I said neither. Both piercings went smoothly. She gauged that my lip wouldn't swell as much as the larger backing is meant to accommodate, so she switched it for a shorter backing (that I'd still have to downsize in 2-4 weeks). Process was very quick, but also professional & excellent! Izlet detailed aftercare instructions & I bought the large NeilMed aftercare spray which was only $10. Backings are charged separately from the front of jewelry. I paid $196 before tip & including the aftercare spray for my second nostril piercing and my Medusa lip piercing. Love this place! If you are looking to get anything pierced, come here! It's been eons since I got anything pierced, and the girls and I all of a sudden got an urge to pierce our nostrils. Identify Body Piercing does it all - from earlobes, cartilage, nose, septum's, bellybuttons, etc. Back in the day I normally went to Claire's to get my ears pierced. Please don't judge! LOL. Coming here, everything was so professional, the place looked aesthetically clean and sanitized and was just organized. Everybody looked legit and licensed. The nostril piercing went super smooth and the lady that did our piercing was very informative and gentle. She gave us lots of information on how to clean and care for our piercings. Overall we were super satisfied with the experience . They have a nice selection of jewelry as well. And I loved the free stickers and candy! They offered to have the same thing CUSTOM MADE for me in the size I needed! I didn't even know that was an option. Bonus? It's a local, high quality jewelry, that was less than half the price of the lowest-priced options I was seeing for the pieces I loved so much! I patiently waited for the call and a few months later my piece had come in! They swapped it out for me and I absolutely love it! It's everything I had hoped for. I came in on Friday because I was having trouble with a nose piercing that had been done at another shop. It was very irritated, crusty, and starting to develop an irritation bump. Turns out the jewelry I'd originally been given wasn't appropriate for an initial piercing. The woman at the front desk was kind and took the time to walk me through my options for new jewelry and proper aftercare. I explained what I had been doing to care for it, and she very kindly told me "nope, don't do any of that" which I appreciated. I'm sorry I didn't catch her name, but she was great. Itzel then took me to the back and changed out my jewelry for me, offering more advice and making the whole process feel very comfortable and easy. By Sunday, the irritation bump has already flattened and calmed down significantly. I also picked up new jewelry for my established nose ring, which Itzel changed for me as well, plus the new jewelry for the irritated side, all for just under $100, which felt very reasonable. I was in and out quickly, and the care I received made a huge difference. Thank you all so much! read more

My experience at Identity Body Piercing was mixed. The pricing is extremely high (around $164 starting), and I paid about $100 for a very VERY tiny piece of jewelry for a simple conch piercing. What really bothered me was that I paid for a gold earring but they used a silver-colored backing, which wasn't explained or offered as a choice. At that price point, the jewelry should match or at least be discussed. I was also pretty disappointed with the front desk customer service. I genuinely didn't see a single smile or feel like anyone matched the positive energy I came in with. It just felt a bit cold and transactional. The one bright spot was my piercer, Itzel, who was very kind, patient, and professional, and did a great job with the piercing itself. The shop is okay. I stopped in because I wanted to get a new piercing. I've only ever been pierced at one place in Chicago, and that's Insight Studio, which has done great work; my other piercings are from my hometown in Oregon so until I go back home that place is out of the question. I have been to the other location of Identity Body Piercing to buy new jewelry but I've never been pierced by them. I came to the Roscoe Village location because I knew they had a larger selection of jewelry. This location is easily twice the size of the Wicker Park store. It's really beautiful inside. I like that Identity will pierce you with whatever jewelry you wish, rather than only allowing you to do the basic CZ that you have to come back and get swapped out. But I ended up not getting a piercing here. The one I wanted I was told they wouldn't be able to do because of my ear anatomy, but when I first was looking into this piercing a year or so ago I'd planned to do it elsewhere and that person said it shouldn't be a problem. So since I didn't have a ton of time to wait around anyway I figured I'd get a second opinion. The area of RV that this shop is in has good street parking, at least as it seemed when I visited around 1 pm on a Saturday. The parking on Belmont is free, which is an added bonus. If you're looking for a nice piece of jewelry and don't want to shop online, Identity has a large selection and lots of beautiful sparkly things. read more

So overpriced for no reason I had to pay like $200 for a surface piercing that was ill advised and never healed even though I followed after care instructions to a tee. I went back to get it taken out cuz it's an anti eyebrow and the guy couldn't get it without yanking my shi with pliers for real it hurt so bad even worse than getting the piercing. Had an excellent experience at Identity this weekend! First, the vibe in the Roscoe Village location is so chill and inviting that I felt immediately comfortable. Nice selection of body piercings. They do have people to complete piercings and supposedly offer reinstallations of piercings you want to change out but prepare to wait a while. Asked to get a new nose piercing and change out the one I have in. I waited for about 45 minutes to decide that it probably wouldn't happen anytime soon and decided to go home. I guess I'll figure out how to install a new type of piercing in my nose at home then? read more

Please stop immediately. The workers here are snobby toward other piercing shops because of the jewelry quality (bye) without realizing that the service they provide sucks because of THEM. I've been to Identity over four times and i end up feeling like shit every time. I asked for smaller balls on my bridge piercing and they said I'd have to buy a new bar and suddenly I was paying upwards of $60 and I said actually I'll keep my giant balls today, thanks. The employees contradict each other and you'll leave feeling like you payed for a heart surgery and idgaf what royal academy of pins and needles you went to because you fail to communicate effectively to your customers in every stage. Great location. Lots of jewelry choice. Their other location was not taking walk-ins, so we ended up here: We had Rita as our piercer, fast talker but very knowledgeable and confident. She answered all our questions. A bit expensive (I paid $200 (incl tip) for 2 lobes and a rook) as their actual jewelry starts at $20 for the pin and $15 per backing). They don't allow you to bring your own jewelry (even though I had implant grade stainless steel). So it gets expensive real fast (considering I chose the cheapest option). But I guess you pay for quality (everything is healing quite nicely, I'm about at 5 weeks). read more

Weird experience, in a bad way. Despite me wearing gold pieces, I was not able to purchase any gold pieces at that time and after that my interaction with the staff went downhill. I was asking for advice on certain earrings and the person working literally said yes to all pieces I was curious about just to make a sale and get me out of the store. Another person started sweeping, as I looked at the time they still had about 2 hours left to close. Ended up purchasing something on a whim feeling rushed and by the time I got home to finally see what they'd look like, the earrings were way too big in diameter for my small ear lobe. Not only unable to wear but unable to return. Waste of time and also a waste of money. I won't be returning anytime soon. read more

Jesus and Itzel were so sweet and patient with my six-year-old who wanted to get her ears pierced. She was excited but started getting really nervous. They didn't rush the process and made her feel really comfortable. Jesus had the awesome idea to do both ears at once. If he hadn't suggested that we might have left with only one ear pierced. okay so i literally JUST got pierced here less than 2 hours ago. i got my nipples but. i was so scared even after having both nostrils, septum, tongue and belly (elsewhere). i was scared knowing that the second one was going to hurt more and i was going to have to be way more careful with these then past piercings. but. everyone at the front desk was so sweet and not over the top peppy with helped not to overstimulate me. and Rita was soooo thorough and sweet. I had my husband come in with me too and she accommodated him. She's great honestly. Now if you're wondering about the nipple piercing specifically. it definitely hurts but to me it was a similar pain level to getting my septum pierced BUT THE COLD and the bumps driving home definitely hurt. Here's my honest review, this place is a massive rip off! I wish there were more honest reviews showing that so I would have avoided this place. I paid $300 for 2 lobe piercings. Yup you read that right, $300 with VERY SIMPLE tiny gold earrings. It was $150 for the earrings PLUS another $40 for the backs. Then they want you to come back and downsize which they never explained during my visit but after looking online there's an additional charge for downsizing and assuming the downsize jewelry is another $40. I just pulled the piercing back off hoping to put a regular backing on it and I'm in shock at how tiny the stem is, I can't even put a normal back on this earring it's so small. I figured it was a normal earring post I could rewear with regular backs but the stem isn't even long enough to go through my ear and it's sooo hard to get the earring into the flat back so these earrings pretty much seem like they will hardly be worn after I change them out. How are they charging $150 for such a tiny piece of jewelry it's criminal! Additionally they trick you into tipping on the jewelry and any saline you purchase because their tipping system averaged that in. I ended up tipping more than the actual service cost when I looked back at my payment. If you're OK paying $200 for a pair of tiny plain earrings and ready for a $300 experience then go for it but I can't justify that it was worth it and therefore I do not recommend this place. My experience in the store was fine and took about 30 minutes from start to end of my appt but for $300 it better be just fine. read more

Though I've had multiple piercings done at Ashland, I didn't feel especially welcome there, which is why I tried Belmont to fix the issue. Chris was fantastic! I went in to get an industrial piercing and a snug piercing. However, I only ended up getting an industrial since my cartilage ridge was anatomically too small for a snug. Overall, the process was great and my piercer gave a brief rundown of what was expected. She measured my ears at first to make sure the type of piercings I wanted would fit my ear without any issues. The queue time was a bit long but that's to be expected since I went in the evenings; their evenings are usually a little busier. My 15 year old was so excited to get another piercing. She wanted to return to Identity on Belmont where she had gone during the grand opening. This time, we were so disappointed! We were greeted by an employee who barely looked at us as she took our info. My daughter took a bit of time to pick her jewelry and the employee just lost interest in us. My daughter had asked her 4 questions about style etc and the employee answered the same thing each time--It's up to you. No help whatsoever. No excitement no customer service. The woman who did the piercing was Meh. She didn't even introduce herself or try to establish rapport. The piercings are fine but we won't be back. I went to get my plugs changed and the women blew my ears out (meaning the piercing was too big and she forced it into the hole and when you looked and the back of my ear the skin was hanging I expressed my concerns still haven't heard from a manger and now I'm forced to let my ear close!!! My friend and I went here to get a couple of piercings and we had a fantastic experience start to finish! Expect to wait for a while if you go in the evening; it's a popular time after people get out of work. (They had water and snacks out though, which was a really nice touch!) The staff at the counter are so kind and patient- they asked us right away for our names and pronouns, and were very helpful with choosing jewelry. They let you hold pieces up to see how they will look on you, and they'll help you choose pieces to fit a budget if you need to. The jewelry selection is awesome- there's definitely something for everyone! Itzel did our piercings and she was wonderful! We have had some great experiences here in the past but our last couple of experiences have been horrible and I would not recommend. Today's experience was just to much. My daughter turned 18 yesterday and came in for nostril piercing the girl who was doing the piercing helped us the last time we were here and it was ok for us to be in the room together. Not sure if policies changed but today she attempted to close the door in my face and my daughter let her know so she cracked the door and said sorry you can't be in the room. I explained she just turned 18 the day before and I understand I can't be in the room but the other piercer said that someone can stand in the doorway as that's what she had just did with another customer. She said well that's personal preference of the piercer and I want the door closed. Ok so we're rude and lack compassion got it. When we were here in May with this same piercer we were in the same room with the door wide open. I asked my child if she was ok and she said yes so I went to sit down and 2 seconds later she comes out and says the piercer told her she's not comfortable doing the piercing anyone and she passed us off to someone else. They need consistent policies, we have come here many times over the years as they pierce with fine jewelry and have cute pieces however the rudeness of the staff makes it not worth it better to take the business where it's wanted and appreciated. read more
