My wife and I came here for our wedding anniversary. The setting is intimate, quiet and communal. There's mainly just seating at the sushi bar, and a small waiting area. It's beautifully decorated, with a mountain range made from lights that is both whimsical and serene. We heard it's BYOB but didn't take advantage of it, opting for their Yuzu sake instead. It was cool and fruity. We ordered the 16 course tasting menu. Our chef was very personable, though hard to understand when he told us what dish he was serving. It didn't detract from the experience. Our servers were all very friendly. The food was mostly amazing! Some stood out from the others, a few didn't agree with my palate. My wife who is a bigger seafood lover than I LOVED 14/16 dishes, I was about 13. The surf and turf was worth doubling up on. I learned I'm not an eel fan, which was cool. The uni noodle dish was like nothing I'd ever eaten before. By the time we got to the sushi roll course we were too full to appreciate it, and it was just ok to be honest, easily the weakest offering. All in all it was a great night. We left satisfied and not feeling too stuffed. It's about $150 per person, but we took advantage of a $99 special promotion they had on. For the price, this is pretty darn good omakase. Very cozy, counter seats about 12 people and they have a few tables. Upon arrival, they offer to hang your coats and promptly seats you. They have 3 omakase seating - 4:30pm, 6:00pm, and 7:30/8pm ?.. made a reservation for 6pm. The counter was full for this session. I'd say most pieces are standard; but they do have a standout that I enjoyed very much - which is the sweet prawn with foie gras. The omakase opens with this 3 trio appetizer and honestly felt a bit too average... the oyster was unnecessary and can do without it. Cute and cozy interior with bar seating and two additional small tables at the front of the restaurant. Waiters were super attentive throughout the meal, constantly refilling our teas and waters. To start the meal, they brought us a hot hand towel which was great. Food came out promptly and each piece was delicious. Out of the appetizers, the sea bass was the star. My favorite piece of nigiri was probably the mackerel or lean tuna. I was a bit thrown off by the tiramisu at the end as it didn't really fit the theme but it was also delicious with good texture from crispy and crunchy chocolate balls between the layers. Updated: just came today for the winter menu and I had to say I was a little dissapointed. Overall it was still good but I didn't love all my peices like I did the first two times I came. Their fresh water eel was a mushy texture and I felt like some of the flavors were off. Not sure if it's the winter menu, the chef or just their fish today. Fairly new (opened 3 months ago) and small omakase restaurant in Park Slope/ Boreum Hill neighborhood. Very zen/minimal naturalism vibes when you walk in, which is reflected in the interior design/decor. We were the only party for a 4:30 pm seating, which is when they open. It's a 90-minute omakase experience but we were able to finish in about an hour since we were the only customers. The experience is $100 for 16 courses (3 appetizers, 10 nigiri, 1 mini don, 1 hand roll and dessert). The sushi chef let us know each dish as he plates in front of us. What stood out to me at this omakase compared to others I've been to is the creativity of the toppings added to each nigiri. Other ones I've tried are pretty standard at its pricing; this place just takes it up a notch noticeably. Even the pickled ginger is different -- they prepare it in cubes instead of the thin slices, which I prefer because it makes the ginger juicer. The experience starts off with appetizers presented in a trio platter. Then the we have yellowtail and sea scallop. My favorite nigiri, which the chef also said is most customers' favorite as well, is the sweet shrimp topped with foie gras torched. I love sweet shrimp, which has a buttery taste when raw, but topped with the foie gras makes it even more buttery. The flavor is very unique, unlike anything I've tasted in my other omakase experiences. Another dish that stood out to me was the ikura uni don, which is a really generous portion of everything delicious. It has uni, salmon roe, crab on top of a bed of soba noodles. The meal ended with yellowtail hand roll and tiramisu for dessert. We added another scallop hand roll and sweet shrimp foie gras nigiri before we ended the meal because it was just too good! I had such a great experience and everything was just chef's kiss. The price was reasonable and affordable. Next time I might double the nigiri (such a good option)! read more

The first course is actually 3 courses served in one plate and the final two courses are served at once as a dessert plate. Unfortunately, the sushi rice left much to be desired -- soggy, aggressively over-vinegared, and overwhelmed by an excessive reliance on torching. Nearly every piece in the sushi set was Aburi-style, which felt less like a creative flourish and more like a cover-up. The balance and finesse one expects from a sushi experience at this price point were simply not there. Service was a mixed bag. Our waiter was genuinely friendly and eager to please, but his lack of finesse detracted from the meal. He repeatedly bumped into us while pouring drinks and serving dishes, even managing to drip chilled sake on us more than once. For a restaurant positioning itself at this level, basic service etiquette should be a given. This was a spectacular dinner at the newly opened Idashi Omakase. I am still fantasizing about my meal last night and hoping to go back again soon (maybe my birthday!). It's an incredible value and top notch quality. 16 pieces for $99, optional BYOB and also they sell beer/sake (not sure if they have full liquor license). I'm not sure why they are still offering byob and don't even charge a corkage (yet) so this can be a more affordable omakase experience. However, my husband and I ordered 2 additional favorite pieces each and ended up buying an additional sake on top of what we brought with us. All of the staff were really sweet and attentive. I made reservations too last minute to sit at the sushi counter so sat at one of 2 the tables at the restaurant next to a mother daughter dinner date next to us who also really loved their meal. This might have been my favorite omakase experience. At other restaurants, I've had an issue with the pacing being too slow or with some of the pieces just being ok but there wasn't a single thing I didn't absolutely love. Highly recommend!
