I have a rental house in Concord Mass. I desperately needed new windows. I was referred to ABC…read moreConstruction by a co-worker who has used them for both work-related and personal projects. I called a few vendors to gauge the prices to expect. Mr. Maguire went from Quincy to Concord the very next day to give me an estimate. I only had one month to play with, since the former tenants left and the new tenants would be coming in, and I wanted to have the windows done first before the interior work. I was very happy with ABC Construction's price and only heard good things about them, so as soon as he gave me a quote, I asked him to proceed. I signed the contract and mailed it back to him (I live in East Boston). The project was done in ten days. The windows are quite good and very professionally installed and one of them is a large (what he calls a "picture") window. The house now retains heat and looks much nicer! I would not hesitate having ABC Construction do more projects for me. Very trustworthy. Very honest.

I thought we had signed a ten years warranty agreement. At least some came two and three times but…read moreafter that, it became very difficult to contact them. It was later discovered that they had failed to properly install the original drainage system back, because the rainwater stayed on the roof and couldn't be drained away. It used cheap glue, perhaps because the canal was submerged in water for a long time and started to loose after two years. At the beginning there were only two or three places, but later there were more and more loose and later, bubbles began to appear in many places. It turns out that the entire new replacement was not built to standard. It's very difficult for ordinary people like us to notice. Therefore, you need to consider this before choosing them.

A scam company. Since they have a tactic of lying and saying the bad reviews are for another…read morecompany, let me specify immediately that this is the Quincy, MA RoofKings. They did an overpriced, shoddy job installing our roof actually leaving tiles all over it including a tile glue-side down on the skylight that we had to chase them to come remove and a giant permanent black stain on the sidewalk in front of our house. The skylight leaked a month later and again we had to chase them to even get a response. Ignored our calls and would blow off set appointments with no communication whatsoever. Finally they sent two random guys, who didn't bring a ladder (roofers!) and had to use mine, and they charged us more money saying it was because of a mild storm we had. This never happened with our previous roof and was obviously to get out of honoring their fake warranty. Months later the roof leaks again, and again they're either ignoring our calls altogether or the shifty owner tells us a time then blows it off. Avoid this horrible scam of a business at all costs.

Turns out, those roofers were calling a substance rust that wasn't rust and I didn't need a fix at all! Jay Jr literally saved me $4k on the spot (with photo evidence and all) by pointing that out. I learned so much about our gutters and roofs from that first meeting, he was a wealth of knowledge. Right there, I knew he was our guy. I didn't need Jay to fix the slate anymore but since I was so impressed I happily hired him to do some gutter fixes we needed done and painting a small portion of flat rubber roof white. He did a fantastic job with both. Jay was also the person in charge of our project and doing the work himself. He texted to give me a heads-up before he arrived each day and gave me a recap after each day to share progress and findings (with photos). Over several days of work he found a bunch of previously undiscovered but significant problems that he fixed without charging me more. Jay's integrity is unmatched - he knows that by working on your roof/gutters that his name is forever on that roof/gutter and he takes that very seriously. He came as a referral and I'll hire him again in a heartbeat. He'll surely be the only roofer I refer to others and my first call in the future. THANK YOU JAY!

Thumbs up for Cobb Roofing. After a tree fell on our condo back in June, we needed to have some…read moreshingles and gutters replaced. We called several roofers, and were lucky to find Joe. He came right away to give us an estimate, which came in under our insurance estimate. It was not the least expensive estimate we received, but I knew Joe was knowledgeable when he noticed damage caused by the tree that our insurance adjuster had missed. He also demonstrated pride in quality work when he noticed bad sealing jobs done by the contractor that originally renovated the building back in 2005, and indicated that he would take care of those too before we started to experience leaks over time. After my first interaction with him I knew we had found the guy. Joe showed up on time, on the day he said he would be there. He did the work himself (with a partner), quickly and quietly. He even had our new gutter custom made, and when he didn't like the quality of the shop's product he insisted it be re-done before he installed it. The patches on the previous roofer's bad sealing jobs look great, and I'm no longer worried that our roof will start leaking after the first big snowfall. All of this took about a day and a half. Joe also cleaned everything up--not a single roofing nail or shingle left behind. Hopefully we will not need any additional roof work done, but if we do, I will definitely call Joe Cobb. Highly recommended.

He came by, spent about 10 min walking around, rang the doorbell and gave me a sheet of paper with the quote. Easy and painless as that. I asked for roof quote and got exactly what I wanted. He did not need to come inside or make me listen to a 2 hr sales pitch. I've had at least 2 other companies who tried to do that when I was getting a roof for the quote. 1 of them gave me a quote on sidings instead. The other did not even give me a quote because I decided to kick them out after half an hr. After getting some other quotes I decided to go with Robert and he agreed to come out 2 weeks later. His crew came on time as promised but he wasn't physically there until the end of the day. Overall his crew was efficient. They finished within 1 day as promised. The shingles looked okay, not as flat or even like our neighbors but it appeared to be just fine. They finished the roof before a big snow storm and rain/wind storm within the same week. It was able to withstand everything just fine and no noticeable water leak or anything in the attic. I did discovered a small chipped wood area in the attic which I can see some of the underlayment and shingles but water was not getting through or anything. I will continue to monitor. They actually was supposed to install the chimney as well forgot so they returned a few days later to complete it as promised. Overall fantastic job from Robert and his crew. From the quoting process to the fast efficient work. Cosmetically the shingles could have looked a bit better and more even but functionally it seems to have served its purpose and was worth it for the price I paid.
