I managed to book same day appointments with my mother-in-law. It also happened to be the reopening of the nail salon as the salon was closed for renovations. There were new flooring, lighting and pedicure chairs from what I can tell for renovations. The nail salon was busy. There seemed to be a lot of regular customers returning to the reopened nail salon. I booked a $35 regular polish pedicure. The pedicure was 50 minutes long which included a foot soak, polish removal, cuticle care, exfoliation, trimming and shaping of nails, massage and polish application. The massage was very good and lasted longer than what I usually expected. My only complaint was the polish application has room for improvement. It was a rushed job as the salon was packed. The nail technician did fix it when I asked. Overall, it was a 4 star experience. read more

I got acrylic nails done for the first time and it was an amazing experience. My nails look so beautiful and Mary is so good at her job. She was quick and efficient. The pricing is very fair and I did not have to wait too long even though I didnt have an appointment but I would recommend an appointment if you do not want to wait. Mary is the only one who can do the ombre nails and I highly recommend because I keep getting compliments on my nails!!! I basically just showed her a picture and she knew exactly what I wanted. No breakage so far but I was told they repair broken fake nails for free if you accidentally break a nail after your appointment which is really nice. !!!!!HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!!!! I've been getting pedicures religiously at my usual Salon, my girlfriend brought me to this place, and I'm definitely regretting it. The girl who was doing my pedicure couldn't even speak simple English I had to decipher through hand gestures that I wanted to get my toes shorter. When she continued my pedicure she pushed my cuticles so hard down that I had to tell her to stop. On to the hot stones, yes a great relaxing idea.... EXCEPT she took them right out of the heater and directly onto my skin, I screamed in the shop and said they were way too hot, she dipped them in water and tired again Two more times. And both were too hot. I told her just to forget about it. The massage was great, but short lived. Then she began to use an electric nail file on my toes. I've never seen that being used on toes unless you have previous shellac, not on natural nails ITS TOO ABRASIVE!! And well the inevitable happed she cut my skin and it started to bleed. She continued to use the electric file at a lower speed after another staff spoke to her in another language and shook her head. She then sprayed alcohol on my nails to prep them for polish, and with an open cut, what do you think would happen?? Yah OUCH!! After that another lady took over, she painted my nails and was able to communicate with me. Hope you have a better experience then me, maybe it was a new person, my girlfriend got a good technician. I've been to Icon Nails several times before. Advantages of the salon are that the services are priced well and they have a large range of colours to choose from. Disadvantages are that the appointments typically run 20-30 minutes behind. If you're an early riser, I would suggest coming right when they open because you will get in right away. Otherwise if you have an appointment later in the day you will easily be waiting 20+ minutes. I go to Tina and she does good acrylic nails. I recently got a set done and went in today to have them removed by Tina. I was very surprised at how painful it was to remove them. I've had previous sets soaked off in acetone but she removed it by taking a fake nail tip and sliding it under the acrylic nail and ripping them off. 2 of my own nails split in the process (see attached pic). It was painful and bleeding. She was good at sanitizing the area of skin where the nail was ripped off but didn't offer a bandaid, I had to ask for one as I was leaving. Much to my disappointment, in the end she charged me the full price for removal and laughed when I said that I should receive a discount. Overall, I probably won't return. Their pricing is only ~5.00 cheaper compared to the next average salon and I find that the quality of the overall experience reflects that. read more

Hey all let me share my experience and you can determine wether this was pleasant. So, I've just moved from south surrey to the guilford area and I wanted to give icon a try. I was sitting down getting my gel removed which by the way was just drilled off my nails instead of soaked in acetone. The lady began to ask me "No work today?" I responded no, I'm about 8 weeks from delivery I'm pregnant. She's like "8 weeks? Why no work you collect EI?" I'm like no. My husband is helping me. She's continues to repeat "8 weeks but no work??" I said "ma'am I'm about 8 months pregnant." Then she realized how small I was for my pregnancy. She initiated small talk about the health portion of the baby and I. The whole time she's contorting my fingers in ways they aren't supposed to bend and throws my hands every time she's done with one. She paints my nails sloppily with nail polish cured to my cuticles. Not to mention she's stabbing me with her own natural nail to clean polish off my cuticles. The lady next to my table tells me I'm done and I can go I guess she needed the machine? I'm like I'm not finished yet, the lady comes back starts filing my polish off my cuticles. Then pours oil on my hands rubbing them in. I just had enough at this point. So I told her to stop. She begins to ask if I'm ok and I should be careful outside its so cold. I'm like hey I'll just pay. 35 dollar manicure I gave them 40, asked for no change. I phoned in for walk in since they offered they said I can come in at 4:30 but as I got in not worried for time I was greeted well but when I had to ask a question about the nails I was sadly ignored because it's my first time getting my nails done I needed to ask a question for solar vs acrylic nails because I want the best ones. but because I phoned I they weren't truthful and said they were fully booked, why couldn't they tell me this over the phone? I would have booked it the day before so instead I went to Pink Rose Nails and was greeted since it was empty and I like that they did a good job at my nails I don't think I'll try icon nails since they weren't truthful on the phone. maybe one day maybe not. the one lady there said "Sorry can't do your nails today come back tomorrow." next time be truthful on the phone. don't make me feel like I wasted my time travelling to get there. read more

Went here for my First set of acrylic nails had to go back three times to get the one nail fixed for my coffin shaped nails she still couldn't get it right. Put another overlay top of acrylic to my one nail and it's literally straight no curve to it at all will not be going back here. The girl I had couldn't even speak simple English, asking her "your name" no answers... I heard other lady call her " nog " or "gog" (young lady with pony tail.) She talked amongst each other in Vietnamese and were talking mad trash about their clients. Now me being (look like a Korean) mix with Caucasian I guess they figured I wouldn't understand what she were saying. Well I did ... could not catch her name. "nog" or "gog" .. I did ask her your English name .. no answer but with a glance. Wow. No customer service, just want to pump clients through as fast as possible. One more --- She pull the tools out of an opened bag and I couldn't be sure they ware sanitized. When she was done with my nails, she put the tools back in the bag and into the drawer. Not confident they will be sanitized before next customer come in. Quite scary. Definitely, won't return to Icon Nail Salon. read more

Mediocre. Had a broken nail and rather than gluing it, a powder acrylic was place on top. Was not filed down so that one nail is much thicker and chunkier than the rest. Had nail polish left on skin around fingers which was not removed. Cuticles were not done. read more

Got my nails done by Mary it's was all bumpy and uneven I showed my friends they were so shocked how ugly it was. They told me to go back to get it fixed. I was already annoyed that I was charged extra $5 for Matt top coat. She didn't tell me. Shouldn't it be free? Since I'm getting a top coat anyways? Ripe off. If it's not free at least mention it's gonna cost extra. I never been charged for top Coat before unheard of. I work in the beauty industry an esthetician myself. We never charge for Matt polish. When I came back to get it fixed i was given attitude as if I did something wrong. Never coming back here EVER! I found way nicer places to go to like haute nails or nailfx studio. Decided to try a new salon and what a mistake that was. I made an appointment for a manicure and a pedicure. The pedicure went well. I asked for a manicure with a full set of acrylic nails. The tech seemed like she was in a rush. she couldn't glue dow. one of the nails down. Tried about 6 times before it stuck. They were filed down crooked. I had to ask her to fix them multiple times. There were tons of air bubbles, I asked her to remove one and she drilled it out but kept going until she went straight through my natural nail. Then she tried to charge me double...60 for manicure and full set of acrylic when I didnt get a manicure. Because again she seemed like she was in a rush to get me out of her chair. Only when I stated she didnt do a manicure and pointed at the board for the price of just acrylic is when she apologized and charged me the correct amount. Its been 24 hours and the nails are lifting up from the edges and my hair I'd getting stuck underneath. Needless to say, I will not be going back. read more

Horrible! I decided to try a new salon and what a mistake that was. I got acrylic nails and the shellac nail polish was not applied properly. The edges were missed and it is bubbling after 2 days. I also asked for a specific design and it looked horrible and had to be removed. Not to mention one of the nails is already lifting. Stay clear! read more

Went here as I was so disappointed with the quality, cleanliness and service at another local salon. I was a walk-in and they took me right away even though they were busy. I think some appointment people might get miffed if they have to wait. Not sure how all that works? I needed a powder gel + shellac colour fill and she did a great job. Took her time even though they were busy. I paid more than I usually do but it seems like it was worth it. Emma did my nails and I will ask for her next time. Obviously we will see how the next few weeks go as often the nails lift and chip but......fingers crossed. I don't mind paying a bit more for good quality and service. Place was clean and parking was easy. I would prefer my own nail file, buff and Drexel tool files like I got at another salon OR that it is very obvious that tools have been sterilized/ sanitized between customers as it worries me when they use the same tools on many customers. But overall - I am pleased and plan to return for my next fill. read more

Their spa pedicures are great... And the hot stone massage that they do along with the calf/foot massage is always enjoyable. I went here after reading positive reviews on 'yelp'. Yes, it's inexpensive, fast, nail colour selection is great & the people are nice, this is why I have any stars at all. But most of these reviews left out a VERY IMPORTANT detail. This place is FILTHY. My first quandary came when I saw the nail technician pull her tools from her drawer - not from a sterilizer or sealed bag. When I began to look around I saw other people's finger nails and 'skin' bits were scattered on the work stations. If this wasn't enough 'awful', after my nails were done, and I sat 'to dry', the nail technician took the UNCLEANED tools (she used on me) over to her next client! I didn't see what happened next - I felt sick and took my still wet nails out there as fast as I could. The lotions and other liquids were in what looked like a repurposed squeeze mayonnaise bottles. Brushes (they used on nails) were stuck in odd crevices and in lamps (to hold them in place??) The walls had splatter and holes, the furniture looks like it was hauled in from an alley. If the owner of this establishment is reading this, PLEASE know that you are most likely one client away from causing infection, disease, or worse - and I truly hope you will clean this place up and show more respect for your trusting customers. This is Canada! We have the resources and knowledge to do better. I expect more and so should you! I will NEVER return to this place. read more

I've been going go to la nails once every three weeks to get gel nail polish, for quite a while now. However, Because of my last experience, I will never go there again. I got shellac polish done and the next day all the polish had cracked and bubbled. I went back and asked for it to be fixed, and was treated very unprofessionally. An older man and woman were there who told me I was absolutely wrong, and was seeing things. After I showed them "in the light" they proceeded to tell me there was something wrong with my nail bed causing the polish to crack and that I should go see a doctor instead of coming back to get it fixed. They were very rude and hostile and did not accept that anything was wrong. All they did was shave off the top coat and reapplied another top coat. It is the day after that and my nails are worse then before. Never go here! Your money is worth more somewhere else read more
