I may be just about the pickiest person in the world when it comes to threading my eyebrows, but having them done in the ATX is a bit pricey so I decided to try Iclips. You could tell the technician (I believe her name was Dao) that did my eyebrows was new to threading because she took a bit longer and then had to tweeze a lot of the hairs that she missed the first time around. NO COMPLAINTS though because once she finished, my eyebrows looked like if I had went and gotten them done at a Pakistani salon. Definitely recommend going there! And it's cheap which is ALWAYS a plus. read more

For a gel mani- I would give it zero stars if that were an option. Unfortunately I do not know the name of the woman that did my nails but it was hands down the worst gel mani I've ever gotten. I travel monthly so I get them done all of the country and have never had such a bad one. Got them done 20 minutes ago and it looks like I have a weeks worth of grown. She didn't paint anywhere near the cuticle. Barely clipped the cuticles! And honestly it looks like a child painted them. Sloppy! So disappointed and a waste of time. Go elsewhere. read more

I've been getting my haircut with Matt for awhile now. I use to go to Sassoon and Silk cuts up North Austin. But compared to Matt and his skills. He was the better pick. He's on point with the haircuts. And you can't beat his price! Especially being on west campus. Many of my friends go to him too. they are affordable - no nonsense - but do as good a job as all those fluffy, big-talking places. these ladies have lots of experience ... and know what they are doing. AND - they don't rush you. if i want coffee and fancy vittles, i'll buy it. i just want a decent cut and this places works fine (and i've sent others to them). yes - parking is difficult -- but it is true for even trying to grab a sandwich in the area. it IS the UT Drag, after all. I had my brows done here for the first time earlier this week. The woman did a really nice job shaping them, and while I don't get threaded super often, I do feel like it was less painful than other times I've had it done. The price, at $10, was also really reasonable. (I think it might be $9 if you pay with cash, though.) I went around lunchtime on a weekday, and they were able to take me immediately - yay! I was able to walk over, but like most of the other businesses on the drag, parking is pretty limited. read more

It's what you expect for a little salon on guad. They do AMAZING eyebrow threading for only $8 and they do just fine on split end trims for broke college girls. I've been here a few times, and it's typically a decent experience. But, I got my eyebrows threaded here yesterday and will never go back. The woman who did them was VERY aggressive - she was literally hitting my face to move it and my hand around instead of just telling me to put my hand down when she was ready. Matt, who was very nice, was busy when I first arrived and like the other yelper, I, too had the gal who just prepped me who hurt me and didn't say sorry- they need to teach her about that- but I say ask for Dao or Matt and you cannot go wrong for gel nails. This is my second place to try in Austin. I was fine with the finished product (a polish change on my toes,) but the atmosphere was so weird. I felt like I'd just interrupted a strange family get together. It's teeny tiny small, there was a loud game show on the television, it was pretty hot in there... basically I've never been to a less relaxing salon in my life. As far as color selection, I wound up getting french because their Essie/OPI choices were pretty limited (and the bottles they did have seemed dated.) The fabulous Jenny from Mane Express is working here now (I think the ownership of the two salons is somehow related). She really has a gift. I get better cuts from her than from people who charge three times as much, and Jenny's cuts always grow out really well. I can go more than ten weeks before my hair starts needing attention. I have short, curly hair and she does just as good a job on a co-worker with super fine, super straight, shoulder-length hair, and I've seen guys leaving her chair looking great as well. They don't take appointments, but it's definitely worth going by to see if she's available, and she's very quick so if a couple people are ahead, the wait wouldn't be terribly long. I always enjoy chatting with her, too. Having difficult hair, I've tried lots of different hairdressers in my life, and Jenny is in my top two. read more

It's 2015 and there are more threading spots in Austin now. If you have hella thin hair, go to this place. If you have thick hair, don't go. All they do is a hella minor job of threading and then tweeze you for like ten minutes. I was never impressed with my service or the end result and will never go back. If you have blonde white girl eyebrows, then I'm sure this place will be it for you. If you are in the thick hair club, move on. read more

I dropped by yesterday afternoon to wax my eyebrows and upper lip. It was my first time getting them done out of the place I usually go to so I was a little nervous. Anyhow, I walked in, told them what I wanted and was tended to immediately. The waxing room wasn't too professional-looking but I actually liked that since it made me feel comfortable. The woman who helped me out got the job done quickly and made nice conversation. My face came out looking nice and clean which is what I always like. When I get my eyebrows threaded at other places the person threading usually shapes them (along w/ cleaning them up) and I didn't get that shaping here. My friend came along and got just her bangs cut and she says they did an average job. The woman who cut her hair was very nice. read more

This place is dirty, and dusty. Nothing in this place seemed sterile. My manicurist was rough with my hands and did not talk the entire experience. I thought the women there were silent, and rude. When I got home, my standard manicure latest less than 3 days. Not only that, but my left thumbnail bed became mysteriously painful - possibly infected. I thought the price of twenty six dollars was not too bad. I got there at 430 and it took two hours for them to just do a pedicure and color my nails. I figured it would only take one hour but I did not know I needed an appointment. I went there because I was in the neighborhood. the manicurist was friendly but had to stop so she could thread and wax people's eyebrows. One of my toes refused to cooperate and i finally had to tell them I was in a rush so I got to go under the nail dryer. I've been coming to this shop for the past four years or so, and I've always been pleased with the quality of work here. Threading: Although I don't get my eyebrows threaded anymore, I used to come here once a month to get them touched up. (One bad experience with tweezing my own and I vowed never to let myself touch them.) Rupa does an amazing (and quick!) job with eyebrows. If you have a personal preference (for example, I prefer mine clean and thick), let her know beforehand, and she will gladly accommodate your request. Haircut: I usually get my haircut done with Matt. He's the only male hair stylist in the shop, so he shouldn't be hard to miss. Awesome work, as always. Fades are always well-faded, and he often has good suggestions if you don't know exactly what to do with your hair. As for waits, there can be times when there's high traffic (e.g., students coming back from classes). In those cases, you may have to wait an hour to get a haircut, but the end result is worth it. (Just don't come Thursdays and Fridays; that's when I usually go, heh.) I can't rate their work on nails, since I've never gone here to have them done, but everything else is sound. read more

I was in town for work and wanted to get my toes done and eyebrows waxed. At 6pm on a Monday there weren't too many options, so I went to iclips. Globally it was a fine experience and not too expensive. My only comment would be rergarding the owner (manager?) and the staff interaction. They were having a staffing issue/dispute in front of me and another customer and it was rather awkward for the patrons. Also it sure felt like the pedicure guy was flirting with and trying to pick up on the young co-eds. Maybe they didn't realize it or care, just a bit too obvious. But my eyebrows and toes look good and I got to read a trashy magazine and veg out for an hour or so. In my world that is priceless! read more

Hi, I recently moved to Austin from Las Vegas, and based on good reviews of this place by other yelpers, I gave Iclips a try when I was looking for a place to get my eyebrows threaded. I took the bus there, so parking wasn't a problem for me. The building was clean, and the wait was minimal, and most importantly, the lady that did my eyebrows did a great job! Searching for your first haircut in a new city can be daunting to say the least. I chose Iclips because the great Yelp reviews. I was a little nervous because most of the reviewers were women so I was unsure of their experience with cutting men's hair. But I must say I was pleasantly surprised.
