2 star for this location only. For how much they charge for ice cream, I would not recommend anyone to this location. First, my order was written down wrong after waiting in line for half an hour. Then, the girl who made my ice cream did not clean her cold plate (mixing all the previous flavors with mine). I didn't complain because I thought it wasn't a big deal. However, it was later apparent she was just lazy and didn't care to do her job, she only filled half of the cup and threw away the rest because she was having trouble mixing and rolling it. So I only had half of what I paid for. Icicles need to hire employees with better work ethic. read more

My mom and I stopped after school yesterday to have a treat. We are pretty plain with our ice cream, so the basic with fresh strawberries mixed in was our choice. Love this place! I've been several times and it's always delicious. You will have to wait if it's a weekend. I always bring our guests there when they come to the area to visit. The most recent time I was there I got the Teas Me, which is Thai tea and matcha. So yummy! I always make sure to get a roasted marshmallow with my toppings. read more

Love that Icicles is in Pleasanton! If you're in a rush and there's a line outside, don't wait... it's going to be too long of a wait and you won't enjoy the experience. If you're willing to wait, it's kind of fun/cool. I love that you can add as many toppings as you want and it's all one price. I also love that you can split one order into two without an extra charge. It's expensive already and I love that the kids can share one order. The place is fairly small and the tables and chairs are sparse, so grab one early if you decide to come in. Also parking in that area isn't great... it's a one-way street, but it's in downtown Pleasanton so you can easily take a nice stroll around. read more

This is the best ice cream store I have ever been to. The stuff are so friendly and the ice cream is amazing. I have tried a few flavors and I have loved everyone. The Butter Face and Strawberry Fantasy are my favorite and have a great sense of flavor. I probably would go here every day I could. DO NOT EAT HERE IF YOU HAVE CELIAC DISEASE OR A GLUTEN ALLERGY. The cold rounds that they put the cream on are generally not cleaned very well even if they say "gluten free" as well as the water that they put the scrapers in, I have never seen the water changed out. The first time I went I became sick to my stomach (I have Celiac disease) and a few weeks later I gave it another chance but still felt ill. The ice cream wasn't really all that worth it either, the thing that gets people is the "rolling" of the ice cream. Overall, if you don't have an allergy it's pretty good for a quick stop. If you want something more quality, gluten free, and cheaper you can find ice cream at The Meadowlark Dairy just down the street. read more

My (basic) order was forgotten and I waited as I watched others behind me in line get theirs. The friendliest person was the "toppings" girl who added the chips and nuts. We got something strawberry and it was really really good. It takes a hwile to make the ice cream but i guess the point is to watch them make the ice cream in front of you which is pretty cool for thr first time haha. Super delicious!! Employees were polite and helpful. We got 4 different flavors and all were yummy. There wasn't even a line when we went. The only complaint is that the portions are huge! I brought my kids are they barely made it half way through. It is $7 each, so a little pricey too. Wish there was an option for a smaller order. 3 rolls instead of 6 at $3.50. We decided to try Icicles after our Mother's Day dinner in Pleasanton. Super long line, but we decided it must be worth it so we waited it out. It was a fun experience watching them make the ice cream so I would recommend it for those of you with kids. I won't be rushing back for a few reasons. 1) They only have one size option. This is an issue because some kids, like mine, only take a few bites and then they are done. Typically I don't care, but when you can only get one size and it costs $7, that's pricey! After having dinner, I would like to be able to choose something smaller for myself as well. 2) Flavor. I expected a lot more flavor from the ice cream. I tried the Nutella and Chill. There was a faint taste of banana, but I couldn't taste the Nutella at all. Pretty disappointed with that. 3) Mentioned before, but $7 is pricey. If you have a large family I don't know how many could afford this, but it is Pleasanton so maybe I'm wrong. So I went here to see if this place lives up to all of the hype I've been hearing about. To be completely honest I don't think it does. However, don't get me wrong, it is still good. It's a little sweet in my opinion but that could be what I got. I got the fruity pebbles cereal killer with strawberries, chocolate chips, mochi, and white chocolate drizzle for the toppings. I think the milk in the ice cream is what makes it so sweet. If I come back I would like to try one of the dairy free flavors to see if it is as sweet as the one I got today. The ice cream was very expensive too, in my opinion. It was about $15 dollars for two ice creams. I believe they only have one size. I think the reason it is so expensive is because of the unlimited toppings. There are a lot of toppings to choose from as well so that is nice. I like that there are a variety of toppings and it isn't a free for all when it comes to putting the toppings on your ice cream. The workers do it for you. I also think that you pay a little be more for the experience. I liked watching them make my ice cream. It was very interesting. However, the workers put a lot more work into making your ice cream than the regular scoped ice cream. That may be another reason for the expensive price. Since you get to watch them make your ice cream I will give them 4 out of 5 stars instead of 3 out of 5 for just the ice cream itself. I was edger to try the roll up ice cream trend and was happy to see that there was a shop nearby. My friend and I have been on a tour de ice cream in the Bay Area for the last five days. I will say that this is the richest, creamiest ice cream we had in the week of daily ice cream. Ice cream was rich enough and such a large serving that one cup is plenty to share with another person. Decided to come here with a friend of mine on a Saturday after noticing this location while walking by. It was super crowded and a bit overwhelming. However, the line did move quickly. I didn't really know how the process of ordering and receiving the ice cream worked at first and it was quite hectic. I also couldn't find the pricing of the ice cream and I was a bit surprised by how expensive it turned out to be. Organization could be something Icicles can work on. I decided to go with the Bravocado (avocado) while my friend went along with the Cereal Killer (fruity pebbles). The person who made/rolled my ice cream was super sweet and friendly. I appreciated how she started up a conversation to amp up the service and experience I received. The toppings are unlimited; however, I decided to not go crazy because I mainly wanted to enjoy the ice cream alone. I asked for just condensed milk and mochi (which were amazing w/ the Bravocado btw). Bravocado (5/5)- Amazing !!! Creamy and not too sweet! I'll definitely be coming back just for this. Cereal Killer (4.5/5)- Really good too! I took a couple bites out of my friend's and I really liked how the fruity pebbles were still crunchy and not soggy. However, I think I'd rather stick with the Bravocado because the Cereal Killer was a little too sweet for my preference. Overall, 4/5 stars. I really like how they don't use syrup to add in the flavor. For the Bravocado they used half an avocado and for the Cereal Killer they used actual fruity pebbles cereal. The customer service was quick and friendly. Took off 1 star because pricing is difficult to find (I now know that it's $7 a cup) and because it's a bit unorganized and hectic inside. read more

I have a mild dairy allergy. While they do, after each use, scrape down the freezing plates where they roll the ice cream, they do not wash them when making a dairy-free order. That means that the residue from previous dairy-filled ice cream stays on the rolling area, and you will get some dairy in yours, however minuscule. Also they dip the rollers/scrapers in water to wash them but after awhile it turns white with milk residue. Like I said my milk allergy is only mild so it isn't a deal-breaker, but if you have a severe allergy to milk or technically any of the ice cream base ingredients, you could wind up with trace amounts in yours, and therefore should probably steer clear of this place. read more

Awesome ice cream and topping options. We've been waiting for a place like this to open nearby with later hours as well. I like how they offer a nut free area to ensure those with nut allergies aren't at risk. The price for each cup is a tinge steep but if you get enough toppings it makes it totally worth it.
