This place was great! So worth the $8.25 with unlimited toppings from almonds-strawberries-brownie bite-cereals etc. They have a big variety of toppings, drizzle & ice cream flavors. The store was very clean from the windows to the walls lol (get it?) No but the atmosphere was great. The staff were very friendly and they work super fast! The ice cream was delicious, my whole 8 minute drive home and it didn't melt! I did eat the strawberries and whip cream on the drive though. Its cool how you pay first, then wait until they call your name up, and you can watch as they make your ice cream. Then after you meet them at a little window, tell them your toppings, and voila, ice creamy goodness in your hands! Cant wait to come back and try different flavors/toppings. Out of all the icicles location out there, this has got to be the best one. Consistently fast and delicious! Mai thai: unexpectedly 10/10! I've tried this from other rolled ice cream places. However, they were always too sweet. The one here is perfectly flavored. Not to sweet but not bland either. Just balanced. Fruity pebbles: 10/10 I love this one. The flavor is so nostalgic to me. If I was still 7, I'd ask my parents to order this everyday. Lol. This is so GOOD. I also thought this would be too sweet but the creamy milk flavor balances it out. This would be my second choice for sure. Cereal killer (my favorite): 100/10 Definitely my first choice. Saw my friend getting this and decided to get it for myself. Best choice ever. Nice and crunchy from the Captain crunch cereal, yet still so creamy from the milk. The flavor is subtle enough to add a whole bunch of toppings, which is what I love about it. Icicles can be found in the Lion shopping center (corner of Mowry and Cedar, in Fremont). Stopping in (for our first time) on Tuesday was the best idea! In tradition of "Taco Tuesday," they offer a Special of $1 for their waffle cone to go with your order on Tuesdays. The taco is pretty tasty, so yes... I recommend it. The menu can be found on the right side wall as you enter to order. The colorful breakdown is pretty pleasing, and the menu is pretty self explanatory. I ordered the "Wake Me Up," which consisted of the hazelnut flavor with up to 3 toppings of my choice. The hubby in the other hand ordered "Strawberry-something." He prefers the fruity flavors while I on the other hand prefer the savory-sweet flavors. Pretty fun and enjoyable visit today, as we got to watch as they rolled our ice creams. I still don't understand what the hype is with this "new age" ice cream but I thought it was cute while it lasted - u till our rolled up ice cream melted and returned to normal. They have lots of different combinations for you to try, and you can pretty much choose unlimited toppings to add. It's not cheap, but it's a pretty large portion (hubby and I shared one, and it was more than enough for us). And, if you check in on Yelp, you can get $1 off! Visited Icicles about a month ago during quarantine and I have to say, I'm pretty thankful that this little shop is still open despite all the chaos that's ensuing globally. While $9 is pretty steep for an ice cream, if you think about it split between two people, it's not too bad. Am I just saying that to make myself feel less guilty about spending almost $10 on ice cream? Maybe... I enjoyed the cereal killer here and typically go for the berry one before I tried this one. I'm glad that there's no topping limit, but for $10, there better not be extra costs! While the cereal killer is a little too sweet to eat regularly, it's unique and memorable enough to treat yourself to from time to time. I like it with fruity pebbles! First time I've visited this location versus the one I usually frequent in Cupertino. Unsurprisingly there's only one staff member that's moving around and working when I visited on a weekday evening. I felt bad for him because there was clearly a small queue created and I was afraid he'd be overwhelmed with the guests and the fact that my party had ordered a drink, and rolled ice cream. He handled it pretty well and was super patient and friendly. What didn't make me particularly happy was his (boss?) looming on his side and just watching him work by myself without bothering to help him whatsoever. Maybe he is new and she was training him, maybe she was being a micro-manager, who knows. Regardless, I didn't like that she didn't pick up any slack while he was manning the station alone. Rolled up ice cream made in front of you and all the fixings?! What?? Well, it's true for this place. It's new to this area and perfect for that hot day. The place is small and barely any seating for people to eat there. Staff was friendly enough but too busy to chat with. You pay and they call your name. You see them in action with the base and ingredients. They roll it up and put it in a bowl container. Those employees will have very good strong arms doing this all day! Haha We started out with Strawberry Fantasy base and it was very very good with so many strawberry chunks!! So neat to see the liquid freeze so quickly...amazing! I could taste the chunks in every bite! You can add as many ingredients but I liked it simple with bananas and extra strawberries! If I had lots of money to spare or I was single, I would get this everyday! Yay for rolled ice cream! This place does rolled ice cream right - dense but super creamy. I came in on a Friday around 1:30 and the place wasn't crowded, but since it shares a parking lot with a grocery store, the lot gets pretty full and it gets difficult to find parking. The menu had many options and they all seemed super yummy, I ended up getting the cereal killer (fruity pebbles) rolled ice cream. I was confused at first because they didn't ask me if I wanted any toppings, so I assumed they were an extra charge. But you actually tell them the toppings after they rolled your ice cream. The ice cream is around $7, but it was pretty worth it - a little pricey for ice cream, but that's what I usually pay for rolled ice cream, so I guess it's the average. So, for a first timer (me) it was pretty confusing. You order and pay at the register, you wait for them to call your name and you can watch them roll your ice cream or just sit down, then when they're done they ask you what toppings you want on top. The ice cream came out pretty quickly and I got strawberries on top. There is pretty limited seating - 3 or 4 tables (?) in the whole place and I seriously think they can add more tables since there is definitely room. When it got a bit crowded, people were standing up, so I think they would've enjoyed their ice cream sitting down. Overall, I had a good experience. We're staying in the hotel literally across the street from this place. I will say it was pretty delicious. BUT the portions are huge and pricey. $35 for 4 ice creams is a little much in my opinion. It would be nice if they had half portions like regular and large $8.25 for one and none of us could even come close to finishing ours. I had I think it was fudge overload (was really good but would recommend some type of fruit on top just for less fudgyneas) My son had Mint Oreo which was also really good And my daughter and hubby had strawberry fantasy. Pretty good, but def. not comparable to (1) the glory of what is ice cream with its creamy and rich texture and (2) one portion size option only for a pretty pricey treat compared to the origin countries of this creation where $1 got you a simple milk or fresh fruit version. Also as for the giant one size/portion thing - I think it's mainly bc if the workers are doing all that arm work it better be for a size (therefore price) well worth it - imagine if they kept having to do more size "small" versions bc everyone may then order 2-3 smalls in different flavors to try!?! It's a good way to control quantity of orders I assume. I usually just get one order and share it with others since it's too big for me to finish alone. This Icicles is located in the Lion Center Plaza where Fantasia used to be. There are two entrances -- one in the front of the store leading outside and also one that's inside of the shopping center. We came on a sweltering California day, so needless to say, there was quite a line out the door. That's okay -- it gave me time for my indecisiveness to battle with itself as I stared at the menu. I literally wanted everything. I ended up settling for the Gotcha Matcha and the boyfriend got the Mai Thai. Each cup also comes with unlimited toppings, which includes a whole bunch of goodies like fresh fruit, candy, and chocolate. Not enough for you? There are also cereal dispensers on the counter for you to add some extra crunch. After you place your order, one of the workers will call your name so that you can watch your ice cream masterpiece being made. Pro tip: you can also ask for some of your toppings to be crushed/mixed into the ice cream instead of just placed on top; just let your ice cream roller know. They'll pound out the ice cream, roll it up, and send you on your merry way. The texture of the rolled ice cream reminds me of Taiwanese shaved ice. A little icy but super creamy and all around delicious. At $7/cup, this isn't something that I would do all the time to satisfy my sweet tooth. Anytime we go to this plaza we ALWAYS see a line. So, we decided to try this place out. It's such a hype but totally lives up to its expectations. The three of us got different flavors. Because I'm such a fan of ube, I had to try the ube everywhere. It was pretty good. I actually finished the entire thing. My husband got the all fudged up and my daughter got the cereal killer with fruity pebbles. All were so tasty and worth it. The portions of the ice cream is pretty generous. One of the cups is a good amount for two people. Because we all got our own we felt it was a bit much and my husband and daughter couldn't finish it! It is a bit pricey but totally worth it. Because it can get super busy I feel like they could be a little more organize with the lines. One of the staff members should help direct the customers where to go when they see that others are coming in from the entrance through the store. My kids watched in awe as we had strawberry cream and Ferraro rocher be mixed mashed and smoothen into flat paper like ice cream. Then rolled into thin layers of yummmmm. Wooo, I'm a fan of how they make their rolled ice cream but not a fan of how expensive it is. It's $7 + tax for a cup of ice cream but there are no additional charges for toppings or drizzles. They have quite a few selections ranging from fresh fruits to gummy bears to cheesecake bites and you can get as many as you want! We came here as soon as they opened and we were the first in line to order and even before they opened, there were a lot of people coming in and lining up already. I got the Rock n' Roll and my bf got the Oreo ice cream. They ran out of roasted marshmallow's so I switched it to brownie bites and it actually tasted super good. I got a lot of toppings so I didn't even see the rolled ice cream. It just all got mixed together. The guy who made my ice cream was pretty fast. The ice cream here was so smooth, the taste of the matcha could have been much stronger and the Thai tea was alright. I asked for lychee jelly as a topping for the matcha and instantly regretted it, they literally scooped the jelly and the syrup... on top of all the ice cream. I noticed that even if they were busy making ice cream, they were still able to greet every customer that came in/out! Both were even friendly despite the semi busy spurt of people that entered. The lines might be long at times but it's worth the wait. I like getting #11, Cereal Killer, and I like it with the Cinnamon Toast Crunch. There's also fruity pebbles as well. It's a new location, where the old Fantasia place was, at the Lion Center in Newark, off the hustle and bustle of Mowry Avenue, very near the revampin' NewPark Mall. It's popular with locals - pretty much high school-aged kids, teens, boppers, and families & foodies alike. Rolled Ice Cream is derived from being originally in Thailand, hence, it is called "Thai-Style Rolled Ice Cream", which are little rolls of ice cream, about the size of a roll of quarters, that are packed into a cup, then topped with your choice of toppings (unlimited!) It's super unique, in a way, that it makes eating fun & enjoyable. I'm not a fan of the price, I mean, come on, $7 is really A LOT, but just for the ambience and experience, once in a while, I guess you can treat yourself and splurge on this mind-blown concept of ice cream. THE VERDICT It's a little hard to understand the insta-hit status of Icicles. It's fun to watch them make your ice cream right in front of you, and the process affords obvious Instagram and/or Snapchat opportunities. It is cold, creamy, sweet, and satisfying, all of which are positive things for ice cream to be, no doubt. In the end though, there's nothing revolutionary enough going on here to justify a few minutes wait, especially if you have to travel along the heavily-congested Nimitz corridor. Icicles is such a fun and unique take on ice cream! They make the ice cream right in front of you and it's so cool to watch it all come together. They've got lots of creations on the menu, or you can build your own. Then once it's made you can pick whatever additional toppings you want. I love the cereal killer with fruity pebbles. It literally is just a delicious bowl of frozen cereal! It's a little spendy at $8.75 a bowl, but it's a fun treat every once and a while. And honestly, two people can share one bowl.
