Having been to Japan a few years ago, I was extremely excited to hear about Ichigo Matcha. I have been a matcha lover for year, prior to going to Japan but fell in love with matcha soft serve while visiting Japan. Though not as good as what I experienced in Japan it was still a delightful treat. I think I've been here 4 times in the past 5 days. OBSESSED! I love being in different neighborhoods and getting to try different places like this! I was cat-sitting in this neighborhood and once I discovered this place, I had to keep going back! I love the iced Yuzu-matcha and I get boba added! So delicious! This is a cute little spot located down from Larimer street. It's been on my list for a while but it's harder to visit because I'm not in downtown a lot except for shows. We came an hour before they closed and barely beat the sudden rush. When we were here, there were 2 people working so it took a hot minute to get our order. They gave me a free fish cone for waiting. It's a really cute little stand and they were playing chill Japanese pop music. On a side note, please educate and teach your children to not hit someone else's decor. I watched two girls continuously jump and knock the koi fish and their mom didn't do anything. We got the strawberry matcha soft serve and a black sesame drink. The soft serve is some of the best I've had in Denver. It's not too sweet but a nice balance between the strawberry and matcha. The black sesame drink can be skipped. It's a cute little stand. Love the theming and the decor and the 3 hardworking staff was friendly enough. But bro, IMAGINE being called Ichigo Matcha and running out of matcha. It wasn't even a weekend, so that just sucked overall. Oh well. I got their strawberry ice cream taiyaki. It only comes with Nutella smeared on the inside, a small macaron (mine was a lemon flavor), and 2 strawberry Pocky sticks. Perfect for photos and the quantity of ice cream is much more than Somi Somi, I gotta say. However, the quality was definitely subpar to Somi Somi (again, privileged, I guess). Ice cream was a bit too icy and melted very quickly. Not creamy or smooth at all. Hopefully the matcha swirl is better? But I didn't get to try it on this trip. I also got their Mango Fizzy Drink which I think is mango syrup, fruit jellies, popping boba and soda water. Not bad, but it is a bit sweeter and artificial tasting. This is a small hut on the corner of the street across from the Overland leather store. I ordered the Taro Iced Matcha. It was very good and a generous amount. Not too sweet or earthy tasting.
