I'm so happy my regular sushi place had an off night leading me to research some place different. My husband and I love this place. Despite the exterior of the building/unsightly shopping center, the inside is clean and very nice. What's most important to us though is the quality and freshness of the sushi. I haven't heard my husband moan this much since we spent a few weeks in Japan. Ichiban is definitely a hidden gem...and I am not one to share such treasures with people, but because of this establishments all around perfection, I do hope they become huge quickly and gain the clientele and community support they more than deserve. read more

Very cute place! The waitress was the sweetest lady I have ever met!!! Fastest food service I've also ever had, didn't have to wait for ages for my food. My rolls were delicious except the spicy tuna roll didn't have a nice inner texture. But I highly recommend the YUMMY ROLL.!! We also got general Tsos chicken and it was also good! I would recommended. I'm the most Unloyal person when it comes to a sushi place because I love to try new places but this place was definitely great and I would have to come back again!! What a pleasant surprise!! My sister had heard about this place on FB and we went here tonight for my sons birthday. The decor is very nice and the staff was great. We were a large party of 12 and they were very attentive and kind. At this restaurant each person is given paper menus to check off their order. You can order as much as you want. Took the Mrs. Out for AYCE menu. Kani salad was 3 stars. Beef and broccoli should be named broccoli and a little beef. The tuna maki roll was very good, although the spicy tuna roll was chock full of tempura filler. Hard to taste the tuna or spice. Not a tasty meal. I live one mile away, but will not be returning. Aside from the food, the fire control floodlights were constantly blinking. Major distraction, possible problem for anyone suffering from a seizure disorder. read more

I was very excited to try this place as there are no local Thai food restaurants nearby. I ordered Basil Chicken (classic Thai) and took it home. I was even more excited for the decor of the hidden restaurant, i could not wait to get home and start eating. Unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed . The dish itself looked great with a big portion, however the chicken was awful!! It tastes like rubber old chicken. Then I thought, it was during the week maybe it was old chicken they were trying to get rid of. I ended up throwing the whole dish out. We used to like this place. The food is decent (if you ever get it) but the service sucks. They are understaffed at the sushi bar ( 2 sushi chefs - they need 4) and only have two waitresses (they need at least two more). The bar has no bartender so the waitresses double as bartenders. We've been here two hours. And we don't get everything we order unless we remind them three times. "All you can eat"? I lost my appetite waiting. And my family won't forgive me for insisting we give them "one more chance". We are done here. read more

Great food and even better service , friendly and homey . The staff , as with most Japanese restaurants on Long Island , is entirely from Fujian Province , China , which accounts for the easy going atmosphere . Impressed with the quality of the food and the service. It's deceiving because the outside is non inviting. It's located in a inside corner in a commercial area/plaza and can easily be dismissed by its outside appearance but once you make it inside the ambiance is unexpectedly warm and cozy. Minimal but fairly modern decorations and good lighting makes it inviting and comfortable for the costumer. Full bar with an extensive sake menu as well. We ate 4 rolls and they were all equally amazing. We loved our server and will strongly recommend this place to any sushi aficionado out there. read more

I hate to write such a negative review but tonight's dining experience warrants it (and please excuse the length but I promise this is worth the read). We arrived around 745, a very slow night, and decided to try all you can eat (first time for this). We ordered a few kitchen items and some sushi items. The waitress made it clear they were closing the kitchen soon which we were fine with as we got the order to them quickly. The only kitchen items we had were edamame and lo mein (both for our 3yo daughter). I explicitly asked for the lo mein to come out first if possible since it was for our daughter. Our Kani salad and avocado appetizer came. Next came the sushi. My husband wanted to ask about the lo mein but I insisted on giving them a few minutes. After 10 more minutes he asked to which the waitress shuffled through her pockets to find our order and told us that she never put a kitchen order in and she needed us to check it off again. This annoyed us since it wasn't as if we verbally told her an order, it was written on paper! They finally brought the lo mein and edamame, at 9pm!, and they brought the dessert at the same time (clearly in a hurry to get us out so they could close). I was officially angry at this point, it was not our fault they forgot our order and brought it so late. Our daughter was tired and of course only wanted to eat the ice cream (why bring it out together??) I asked for a box for the Io mein and the waitress tried to tell me she was going to charge us extra since you are charged for "waste" for the leftovers from the all you can eat menu. I made the point that they forgot our order, it took over an hour for my daughters food to come out. The waitress had the nerve to say she knows they screwed up but will charge us to take the lo mein home. I told her listen, you screwed up and need to own up...happy to speak to your manager. The waitress responded the manager wasn't there but she will make an "exception". Never will be back again. read more

I've been coming here the last 2yrs and this past 6mo or so the staff has been holding back the food not giving everything we order and they're rude. I was there yesterday for an every Valentine's Day dinner and my husband was given his food while mine sat at the bar my husband had to tell them to bring me my food. The food sat there 20-30 minutes. I like the fried rolls so when I finally got them they were cold and mushy I asked for new ones they agreed to make them. While they made them they were all looking at me, laughing and talking in their language so I told them forget it I didn't want the food anymore. They are rude and I'm not eating here anymore. I don't need to worry they'll spit in my food or worse. Sad because when I first started coming here it was good but now they cut the cucumbers very thick in the kani salad & added a 2 hour limit and hold back your food. The staff never say anything so you don't even know if they hear what you're asking for. It's like they all are miserable mean spiteful people. They hold food back when it's done and sitting right there and my husband eats without me. Wasted my Valentine day coming here. There are many other good sushi places to eat at that don't make you wait 30/40 minutes to bring you your food when the place is totally empty other then 1 other couple. read more

Absolutely amazing! We came here on New Year's Eve after spending quite some time looking for a place to eat. And it was sooooo worth it! Every item we ordered was beyond fresh and delicious. I have been eating sushi for about 15 years and the Spicy Girl roll has leapfrogged anything I've ever had before to become my new favourite roll. The staff is very nice here and it was the perfect ending to 2015. Can't wait to come back here when I visit New York again in the summer. Highly recommend this place to others!!! read more

I ordered from here twice. Both times I ended up throwing out everything. I rarely write bad reviews. I always find a positive. But this food is over priced for its quality. Both times I ended up gagging. It's really disgusting. Ugh I want to throw up just thinking about it. As soon as I opened up my sushi it smelled terrible. I got the shrimp roll and Cali roll. Who knew ? From the outside its a dump, on the inside its fresh, well lit but not bright, cozy and the food.. Was excellent . I had the Ichiban Roll which was a nice mix of multiple fish but it didn't feel forced like eel and tuna usually would feel. We had the WORST dining experience here! It came highly recommended by friends. There were 8 of us for a 7pm reservation and the place wasn't packed. MAYBE it was because of Lent, they were pumping food out passing our table (presumably to-go or take out). We waited 30 minutes for menus, another 15 for drink orders/ orders then 15 minutes for drinks. The food came out incomplete and in a very confused manner, and at one point the waitress says "all sushi is delivered" meanwhile nobody had gotten their food. At that point two of our party went next door to get pizza. At that point, we all got up from the table, threw money on the table for what we felt we owed based on what we consumed, and walked out. read more
