Ice skating in Hawaii? Well it snows in the big island so why can't we skate in 80 degree Paradise? There's no way to avoid this so I'll get straight to the point. Parking is past bad and just before down right terrible. Located at the Stadium Mall it seems that all the restaurants put cones reserving the spot for themselves. You might be able to park in their stalls after business hours but roving security might get you towed. I ended up under the overpass in the stadium overflow parking. There's only one window to pay for admission but we came for a party and were waved right in. Inside it's old. It's like that 80 look you get from movies. The first "Rocky" comes to mind. Old flooring just getting the mildew stain, a bathroom that need remodeling badly, a snack bar that seem better days, a DJ booth that belongs in a garage then out in the open, and picnic tables that you hope will stay up the entire time. Ok it's not hat bad but it's close. Since this is the only ice rink, it's packed. The ice is sectioned off into two parts. 20% of the rink is for the beginners. The small keikis and those with walkers round the area. The remaining 80% for the adults and experience skaters. There's no speed skating but I'm sure you can form a conga line like in "Family Guy". Overall three stars. It's old school with old school feel. They do break a couple times in the day to repave the ice. The last time I saw a zamboni was in "Deadpool". The review below is related to throwing a birthday party here. The math on my stars are as follows: Zero stars - for the party 3 stars - for general skating at the ice palace Average - 1.5 stars Rounded up because of the pros related to the party described below. In addition to my review I also wanted to give the following tip: note that if you want to throw a party at the ice palace you can reserve a table upstairs for 2 hours only. Keep in mind, they are super strict with set up time and so that 2 hours includes set up and clean up time. I knew the rules going in but was hoping it was more of a suggestion. It was not. I'm not dropping them any stars for that as they were very explicit about this fact, I just want to get the word out that this is non-negotiable. The pros: 1. The girls at the check in are really helpful and it was easy to reserve my tables and get checked in. If you want only 1-2 tables you don't even need to put down a deposit ahead of time. However, I wanted 4 tables so I did have to pay a deposit. 2. Outside food. Since they serve pizza at the party you can't bring pizza or any drinks into the ice palace, but anything else goes. Thank goodness for that as you'll see later on in the cons section. 3. Flexible packages. You can buy things a la cart or a party package and you don't have to decide until the day of. I ran the numbers and felt that even if I didn't have 40 skaters (it's 10 skaters per party package), it was cheaper to buy a package per table than to pay for a table, individual skaters, extra pizza. And now the cons: 1. The food and drinks. I planned for the kids to have the four pizza pies and the adults to eat food I catered from somewhere else. Thank goodness for the "adult" food. Our tables and party started at 1:15 PM. The first 2 pizzas and 7 pitchers showed up at 2:15 PM. I had ordered by 1:30 PM and asked for everything to come ASAP. The second 2 pizzas arrived at 2:45 PM. Since the tables only last until 3:15 PM, we had already started cutting the birthday cake by the time the first set of pizzas came. By the time the second set of pizzas came all the kids were already skating (and some of them were pretty hungry as they didn't like the food I had catered since I hadn't looked for kid friendly options as that's what the pizza was for). That 8th pitcher of soda never showed up. 2. The clean up process. They started cleaning up at 3 PM (in advance of my table being turned over to them). They came and took the pitchers of drinks 45 minutes after they brought them. The pitchers were mostly filled as the kids were skating during those 45 minutes, which is why I had asked for everything ASAP. How it takes an hour to fill up a pitcher of soda is beyond me. Also, knowing we would only have 2 hours at the tables, I called the day before to place my food order (each party option came with a pizza pie and 2 pitchers of fountain drinks and I had paid for 4 party packs (e.g. 4 pizza pies and 8 pitchers of drinks plus water pitchers). They said I couldn't preorder and could place my order when I got to the table and it would be right out. Lies. 3. You are your own waiter. They claim they have wait staff. Lies again. My husband was our wait staff running back and forth to refill the 4 water pitchers for 40 people during lunch since we didn't have anything else to offer them at the time. 4. Tables - as I said, I reserved 4 tables. What I expected was those 4 tables to be located together. They weren't. Are they kidding me??? I was one of the first people upstairs at 1:15 so I swapped where my reserved sections were with other names. I booked this party 3 months in advance, it's not like I was being squeezed in. Thank goodness I was up so early... that would have been a nightmare to have 4 tables scattered around. 5. Parking - there is no 10 minute loading zone, which pretty much every other store in the area offers. So the cake, catered food for 30, favors, paper goods etc all needed to be walked in from VERY far away. And then the presents had to be walked all the way back at the end. In summary, will I take my kids back to the ice palace again? Absolutely. Will I ever throw another party here or tell people they should have a party at the ice palace? Never! read more

Had my daughters birthday there and did the package. 2 tables (20) chairs. 20 skaters $500 2 pizza and 4 drinks. That all sounds great but then you have a time limit. I understand that icepalace was closed for some time and you have to make money back but unfortunately 1:30-3:30 is not enough time. 2 hours, I had to fit in, Eating pizza, singing happy birthday, and eating cake. Having everyone downstairs skating it took a lot of time to get everyone back upstairs to do those things. I just hope that the time frame can change so that we can actually enjoy a birthday party there. If not I don't see why not just come at 11-4 and get more hours in. So it's confusing because we're paying more for only 2 hours?? Our kids don't really have much to do here on Hawaii so I hope in the future it gets better. Ice Palace was closed during the pandemic, and even stated on their website that they were also closed partially due to renovations. I took my some and his friend there the other day. It was our first time there since their reopening. I can say without exaggeration that the only renovations were to the admissions price and the cost of the items on their menu. The best thing about this place now that it reopened is that the ice is frozen. Seriously, it took just under an hour to get in with the long line going all the way back to the gas station. Went for the 2pm to 6pm "session", the line was so long, we got in just before 3pm, and we only had about 3 hours to be "in the building" NOT skating, just in the building. Keep in mind, after you make it in, you need to wait for your skates, and then find a spot to put them on. The food is a joke. The line is ridiculously long, they sell popcorn, but it is Microwave popcorn (for reals) and for $3.00, $4.50 pizza slices smaller than E.K Fernandez pizza slices. The price of admission went up, but remember, you're only paying for a 4 hour "session" slot, then you have to leave. If you want to stay longer, you need to pay again. Which means, return your skates, stand in the long line and get in in about 30 minutes from the opening session time. With all these raising of prices, you'd think they'd of done some remodeling or improvements, this not the case. Nothing new stands out, except the concession with higher prices for a lot less portions and quality. I used to come here as a kid all the time, and brought my kids here before COVID. Now sadly I won't be coming back until they get their stuff together. There are a lot better places to spend $16 per person, than this place. If you do come, eat before or after. DO NOT EAT THERE. Bring your own water. After all it is less than 4 hours of suffering before you can eat cheaper and better quality food. If you're going to go there with hopes of your small child to get some ice time, don't get your hopes up too high, they have only like 15-20 skate-walker things so the little kids and you, will either spend their time waiting for a skate-walker thing or you just have to get them on the ice hoping that they won't get too scared without nothing for them to hold onto other than your hand. I would've given The Ice Palace 1 star but ended up giving 2 stars because of the memories it brings back. I am very disappointed with this places reopening changes. IcePalace is the only place on the island you can go ice skating! Admission is pretty affordable. You can bring your own ice skates, but you still have to pay admission. They have a shop inside in case you do want gear. Things to know: They have affordable party packages that come with 10 passes, pizza and soda. You get the reservation of a table upstairs for 2 hours. This is a popular teen hangout. Be careful coming here on spring break and summer. Those teens really think they are invincible and don't pay attention when they show off. I've seen kids and adults get hurt when it gets crowded. They are open late! If you got little kids I suggest coming before the teen rush to be safe. They have lockers to put in items, make sure to bring quarters to use them. They offer ice skating lessons! Things I don't like: The place is definitely dated.That means it's filthy and old. Bathrooms are gross. Service is so so. Just don't come thinking its pristine. Our last birthday party we had was a couple weeks ago. The pizza came out really late and our soda came AFTER the pizza. Like way after. To top it off, they served us soda water not Sprite. Overall, we have no where else to go ice skating. So if you have the urge to go, this is what we got. It's not pretty, but it'll do. Use the bathroom before you come here. read more

I am here visiting and apparently this is something the residents enjoy doing on a Friday evening . This place is in serious need of a cleaning and renovations. Immediately walking in it has a really dirty feel to it. It even smells weird . I can't believe people actually eat from here. I'm sure the owners make enough money to shut down operations and just bring the building up to 2019. I didn't bother using the restrooms . I could imagine they weren't tidy either . From the ceilings to the floors to the lockers , just filthy. It's a shame the local people are subject to this type of establishment being that it's the only one on the island . Ice skating in Hawaii? Who would have thought. Lol. The Ice Palace is a refreshing getaway from the warm weather as well as a great diversion for childhood boredom. It's located at the Stadium Mall, so parking is plentiful. You can book parties there or just go for open skating. Admission is reasonable but anyone on the ice needs skates. Parents going just to watch get in for free. It's a decent sized rink. They close off a quarter of the ice for the beginners. They even have metal training walkers for novices. I think they need more because everyone is always waiting for one. The other side of the rink is open for free skating. There's bleachers on the side for spectators. On the second floor is a party area which you can reserve. And downstairs is the pro shop, ice skate rental booth, concession stand, a small arcade (charges too much for games), as well as the washrooms and lockers to rent. Food is limited to standard concession food. Pizza, nachos, popcorn, hot chocolate. Etc. The rental skates are decent, not too worn but the skates could be sharper. Dress warm, you will feels the chill as soon as you enter the rink. Wear gloves especially kids using the trainer walkers. They're metal and can get cold. I wanted to go on an adventure...do something different from the norm. So, on my last holiday before busy season, my friend and I decided to go to Ice Palace. He's never been to Ice Palace before as he did not grow up here. I was excited walking through the red doors with the fogged windows and was hit with the nostalgia, remembering all the times I have been there for many school trips and birthday parties. It was just as I remembered it - packed with families enjoying the ice rink, the more daring teens doing tricks on the ice, while others skate in groups. My friend and I would skate close to each other, but not too close as we didn't want to cause the other to fall. I remembered how much I enjoyed ice skating. It feels so freeing and it's cold, so it was a nice break from the afternoon heat. The down side is that I forgot how long it takes for the zamboni to clean the ice and how hard it is to dodge the faster skaters. We have been waiting for ice palace to open ever since covid hit! The star ratings were a little tough for me though..... it's always 5star for the skating and food! The price went up quite a bit. Courteous customer service. All payment types are accepted. Wait time seems longer in minutes as there's only one worker and window available for transactions. No military or Kamaaina discount. No in and out privileges once you purchase admission and skate tickets. Foot measurement for your convenience. I didn't expect to go three sizes smaller. Wearing one to three sizes smaller is the norm. Goal is not to have wobbly feet. Skates are easier to lace and tie. Bring quarters only if you choose to store your valuables in a secured spot. Lockers are spacious to fit boots and valuables. Don't forget anything in the locker. Once you insert orange key in the groove, locker requires another 50 cents. Hold orange key. One of skating rink rules are no cells phones on the rink. We took photos before stepping into the rink. I've noticed some significant changes and improvements from last time I remember skating. Bye bye yellow, rusted types and hello to shiny silver walkers to multi-colored skates. Best to arrive in the morning for all day extravaganza if you want your monies worth. We arrived here in the evening and had less time to ice skate due to business hours on day of visit. Li hing gummies caught my son's attention. My son enjoyed dipping and consuming one tortilla chip at a time with a little cheese and chili. He ogled over his cousins' Pepperoni cheese pizza and Cheese pizza. I told him not tonight because he will sleep soon and he can have pizza on another day and time. For sure I want to bring my son here when he's a little older. There's something very nostalgic about this place. As soon as you step inside, you're hit with a blast of cold air, then it's like walking into a time warp. Lights are dimmed, young couples on skates holding hands with music from the 80's and 90's playing in the background. It's even equipped with a small arcade. The cost of entry was cheaper a few years ago, but everyone needed to pay-- even if they weren't skating, boo! Now, it's a flat rate of $10.00 for those who are skating and free if you're just there to supervise your child, yay! The food at the concession stand is what you'd expect at a low-budget theater. Some of the overpriced menu items include: nachos, pizza, chips, ice cream, hot cocoa/ coffee, etc. My advice: eat out! There's a few good options around Stadium Mall, such as pho, local-style plate lunches, chinese, a bar, Jack-In-The-Box, Taco Bell, etc. Upstairs, you'll find the party area. Basically, you're just reserving a few tables for you and your loved ones to eat together. You have to buy a party package, but they also allow outside food to be brought in, too, so that's nice. Your time there is limited, though, so don't get too comfortable because you have to head down stairs when your time is up. They try to fit as many parties as possible at the same time as well as throughout the day. So, it may feel cramped depending on the number and size of the parties going on that day. Bonus is the DJ gives shout outs to the celebrants upstairs, so if your little one is celebrating a birthday, s/he can feel all cool and special around their buddies for the day. Where did all the training bars go? The last time we came a few months ago there were a lot of the training bars for the little kids, but today there were barely any. I'd say only about 15 or so. So many kids waiting and waiting and it just doesn't make sense on a weekend to have such a small amount of them. If you can skate without them it's great but for a family with young kids who are learning to skate it kind of sucks cause a lot of time is spent waiting or eventually giving up and just holding onto the walls. read more

Upstairs: reserved tables for parties. + Fun. Kind of novel to be ice skating in Hawaii. + Good value. Entrance fee includes skate rental and you can stay as long as you want. - Super crazy and crowded. If you don't like kids or crowds, DO NOT come here. We came on a Saturday afternoon and the place was PACKED. There were three parties happening upstairs, plus additional families and groups downstairs. - Could be cleaner. Although given the age of the facility and the number of people passing through, don't know how much can be done about this. What were a bunch of 40+ year olds and 1 bordering his 40's doing here? Trying to break our bones, using leg muscles we never knew existed, and having fun of course! After posting our outing on FB, all I got were "They're still open??" comments. Yes they are, and still as popular as ever. THE PALACE: I was surprised at how up kept the place is. Well, the exterior anyway. The inside is still in pretty good shape. A few of the places on the side of the rink were a bit messy and worn, and the ceiling was pretty rusty looking. A few arcade games are on the left, the skate rental desk is to the right, followed by the snack bar, lockers and tables. A private party area is located on the pretty spacious loft above. There's a small section coned off for the little ones and walkers are available. A life-saving support wall surrounds the entire rink for off-balance and beginner teens & adults. They did a limbo game while we were there, which gave our legs a much needed break, and by the time it was done and the Zamboni cleaned the ice, everyone threw in their towels. What a bunch of old farts! PRICE: Entry is $9.75 (2015) for everyone who is skating; no charge for non-skaters. LOCKERS: Locker rentals are $0.50. It's about a 1' x 1' box, good for shoes and small items. SNACK BAR: They sell soda, churros, popcorn, pizza, nachos, and hot dogs. Prices are reasonable. No outside food or drink is allowed except for Jamba Juices which is next door to them. TIPS: Choose a skate size 1 size smaller than your normal shoe size. I think the tighter the skate, the better and safer for your ankles. There are no in & out privileges if you're skating. Leave your jacket at home. It really isn't cold inside especially if you're skating. Call them before heading down to make sure the rink is open and not reserved for something. OVERALL: Cheap reminiscent fun! read more

This place is CLOSED but has been leading on the customers who support it for almost two years. The owner has been moving the opening back a few months at a time when it's clear they have no intention to honor the dates given each time. This is absolutely unreasonable, disrespectful, and honestly heartbreaking to the local residents and families who care about ice skating. There are safe ways to operate this business right now, and they should be implemented posthaste so the rink can be safely re-opened as long promised. Came here about 3 weeks ago. My first time in decades! The place hasn't really changed from when I last visited in my youth. Same food but great hot food like nachos, and hot chocolate-- where can you go wrong!!? Hot chocolate always hits the spot. It feels like 40 degrees in there and it could be colder! This is how I know I might not adjust well in the mainland in the wintertime well because Ice Palace was cccccold!!! There was a shortage of training equipment for the newbies and always a line formed to get on the ice. Maybe it was a bad busy day to go. There were a few big parties the day we went. Definitely a great place to hang out on a rainy day or when you got nothing else to do. I came at the recommendation of a first date (kind of a commitment for first time meeting someone, but I accommodated the Canadian desire for skating), and it was packed at 11:30 AM. Getting tickets and skates were easy, and we waited a little only because we had arrived while the zamboni was about to come out. It's exactly as I remember lol. Ice Palace, the only ice skating rink in the state. I've been coming here since it opened when I was in the fourth grade. It's changed a lot and has stayed the same in a lot of ways. What I enjoy most is the temperature in Ice Palace...nice and cool! The perfect escape on a hot day/night. They still offer figure skating classes and hockey, if you're into that kind of thing. Skate rentals are available and there's a snack bar. Bleachers are available to sit on and they have a party area upstairs. It's a great place for groups of people, but beware of falling! It hurts...haha. The ice does seem a lot thinner than I remembered it, being able to see the pipes clearly through the ice, not that it would stop me from skating! read more

I'm not sure how you could give Ice Palace anything less than 4 stars...it's an ice skating rink in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. The ice is always clean, the price is more than reasonable for unlimited skating hours and skates included (most places I've gone to on the mainland charge by the hour and skate rental is separate). My kids love it. As they are old enough for me to drop them off with friends and go, I've really only ever spent time in there when we've been invited to younger neighbors birthday parties. I think they do a nice job. Very simple decorations and a party room upstairs. The kids get their names in lights on the hockey score board. You can bring outside food and they have pizza and other things you can order. Very low maintenance and the kids keep busy. Bring gloves and many layers! And maybe a change of clothes if you or your kiddos are prone to falling on the ice. read more

Brought about 20 plus youth here on a Friday night. We arrived early anticipating a crowd and tight parking, thank goodness we did because it did crowded fairly quickly once they opened. Once we got in, our girls got their skates w/no problem and we got them going. While they skated I checked out the concessions stand. I got hot chocolate, a churro, pizza and a Powerade? Yah, I was a little hungry but more importantly I was trying the menu for all my yelpers so I can give you the 411 So, let's start off w/the hot chocolate. It's not too hot so you can literally gulp it down w/no problem burning your tongue and it's yummy. The popcorn didn't need extra butter lol which I got, and I'd recommend adding a little salt if they have. Pizza was just average nothing amazing unless your starving lol Churro was good and Powerade didn't require Ice as it started to get colder throughout the night. First game they played was a limbo game and although we didn't participate it was so fun to watch. Our girls favorite part of the night was when they dimmed the lights and pumped up the music. They had a blast, downside was that there a couple of obviously advanced skaters who were zooming around our slow skaters either bumping into them, almost colliding into them or just really annoying. We get it, you must camp here and are great but slow down for the rest of us who are trying to enjoy ourselves as well. They may have been friends of the workers on the ice but that was the only annoying part of the night. Other than that, this is a great activity to do for families of all ages. read more

One star for the customer service given to my 11-year old son and birthday friend: Excited to skate and celebrate a friends birthday, my son and fellow 11-yr old revelers waited patiently in line to grab their skates. After seeing other customers ask and receive hockey style skates--which he usually gets, as he is a good skater--they followed suit. It was totally unprofessional to hear the young woman behind the counter respond to my son & friend: "Nah, my back hurts. I'm not going to get it. Ask that guy (points to the guy who skates as a referee on ice)." She gave them the regular skates. My son was disappointed but didn't want me to get him the hockey skates because he knew it was busy and felt that the worker was being lazy and was just "over it". Would she have said this to an adult who paid for the skates and service? Is she discriminating by age? Terrible choice by this young lady. If she truly has a bad back, she shouldn't be working in an area that requires her to reach to bend. I hope that all workers are reminded that people pay for a positive experience and that they are the front line for the company. If I were the manager or owner, I'd want to know that my workers may need a refresher on excellent customer service. read more

Ice Palace is THEE only regularly opened ice skating rink on the entire island so they've got a pretty solid following [monopoly] in Oahu lol This was my first time here since 2012 (7 years!). Nothing has really changed. They still sell theater priced food and drink items in a small concession, the bathrooms are still wet and kind of gross and they still have those old school arcade machines that take tokens only. Some of the skates have definitely seen better days. You can choose from figure skates or hockey skates. The parking lot can get cramped, and people parallel park from the Stadium Mall to the townhomes behind. Many of the businesses and restaurants have stalls in front of their building with signs "reserved for customers only". Luckily there is another lot towards the intersection, under the freeway, and is free but be aware of car break-ins. At $11.50/per adult, including skate rentals, for unlimited ice skating for that day (no in & out privileges) it's not a bad deal and it IS a great cardio workout that will surely workout your left leg because they only ever skate counter clockwise in the rink. read more

This owner is a liar who completely tells stories to the people who want to use the rink. He is beyond redemption. Not to mention before covid the rink was showing its age. But two years for renos? Those past two years didn't have much Minecraft in the market so my sister and I had to make 90 percent of the items. I along with my sister got our fingers burned, got minimal sleep, only to watch our DIY creations get destroyed in a few seconds. So I was quite overjoyed when my son wanted to have his birthday at Ice Palace and with no theme. We literally had to show up and everything else was taken care of. I purchased 2 party packages. It cost $144 per package. It includes: - 1 reserved table that comes with 10 chairs for 2 hours. - 8 admissions with skate rental. +there is no charge for parent chaperones. - one 16" pizza (cheese or pepperoni) - 2 pitchers of fountain drinks. - your child's name on the big board wishing your child a happy birthday. - Plates, cups, and napkins are provided with pizza and drink orders. *You are allowed to bring outside food but NOT pizza or drinks. *All the outside food must be consumed upstairs. *No set up time prior to the party. Since we reserved 2 tables we didn't have to make a deposit. I called and made a reservation. When it was closer to the event Ice Palace mailed me a brochure/confirmation of my reservation. Ice palace is the only ice skating arena in Hawaii. It's over 30 years old and it does need a facelift. But the kids don't notice those kinda stuff. Everyone had a great time. We planned to arrive 1 hour and half before our designated time, so the kids could skate up an appetite. We stayed a little over an hour after our reserved time and continued to skate. Overall, I'm hoping my younger kids will want to have their party at ice palace. I wouldn't mind if my eldest wanted to have his birthday at Ice palace next year. OMG. My sister learned how to ice skate here 40 years ago. I brought her kids here. Showing its age, but still a great place for kids. At $11.50 including skate rental, it's also a good deal. They have a equipment shop that does brisk business selling gloves for children unaccustomed to cold weather. Of course, there's a snack bar. The rink is well maintained. There is a separate area for beginners. "Walkers" are available free of charge to newbies. It's a terrific place for birthday parties. Ice Palace is still good after all these years. read more

Ice Palace used to be my second home in both 6th and 7th grade. I would go there almost every Saturday to go ice skating with my friends. This past weekend, I attended a birthday party there and was happy to be back there. It's been well over 10 years since the last time I've been to Ice Palace. Was I excited? Most definitely, we were there to celebrate my nephew's birthday. Being much older, so many pounds heavier and less athletic than I was way back then-was I afraid to get back on the ice? Terrified! I wondered what kind of changes have been made since then and only two things have changed that I noticed: the entrance fee is much higher and they have new ice skates for rentals (thank GOD). PROS +Arcade Games (requires Ice Palace tokens) +Games on-ice (limbo) +Party room on the 2nd floor that overlooks the skating ring +Ice resurfacing +Proshop near the entrance sells both hockey and ice skates and also sharpens them +Skating lessons are offered +Lockers are available +Adult chaperones are free if not skating CONS -They close the snack bar periodically -Bathrooms are dingy and it doesn't seem like someone checks them regularly to see if they need a quick clean or are low on supplies NO-NO's -No speed-skating -No electronics on the ice; if you're taking pictures, you must be off the ice The ice is sectioned off into two: a coned-off area for beginners where you can use training bars so you don't lose your balance on the ice. The other section is much larger and is for advance skaters. I like that they play music while everyone is skating and sometimes they'll dim the lights and use strobe lights and/or colored lights to light up the ring. Sometimes they have games like limbo. They'll close the skating ring and only allow participants to be on the ice. Two people hold a pole and the object is to pass underneath the pole without touching the ice. The winner gets a prize from the proshop. After all these years, Ice Palace is still a great place to hang out with family and friends. If you're not skating, there are other things to do like play or grab a bite at the snack bar. They have pretty good pizza (cheese and pepperoni only) and nachos, chili dogs. They have a local favorite to warm you up too-saimin! They also serve nachos and popcorn. You can hang out at the tables surrounding the snack bar (picnic table-style seating) or you can hang out around the ring where there are stadium-style bleachers. read more

This is the only ice rink in Hawaii. Personally I haven't been here in years! So a bunch of my friends got together and thought it would be fun to check it out for old times sake. We decided to check it out on a Saturday night and I was really surprised to see how many kids were here. I mean we did go night time thinking that most of them would be gone, haha we were wrong. Overall it really hasn't changed. I think its time that they renovate the bathrooms. I also remembered this place being much colder, I was actually able to skate without a jacket. Fun place when I was a kid and now I send my daughter here for lessons and she loves it too. Lessons are in 8 week blocks---reasonable prices. First class is ~$120 then you may use a sibling 10% discount. Used the 10% for a second class during the week since my other kids didn't need lessons. The second block was less than $50 for another 8 weeks. I recommend that you invest in your child's own skate shoes which you may purchase here at Ice Palace. Family friendly environment. Free skate time after lessons. Saturday classes are convenient but there are a lot more students on this day. You may stay for the entire day if you want to on Saturday without having to pay for entrance. Other non-lesson days you may enter at a discounted price. read more

My gf and I recently celebrated our first anniversary and decided that we wanted to do ALL THE THINGS. But, apparently, ziplining costs a small fortune and break out rooms are better with more than two people and she gets sea sick and I don't hike or thrive in direct sunlight. So on to Ice Palace we went, an adventure as neither of us were confident we remembered how to ice skate. Turns out I remembered. But let's rewind. I thought going to Ice Palace in the daytime on a weekday was a splendid and brilliant idea because there would be no one there, and therefore when we fell down no one would come whizzing by and slice our fingers off. This is a very real fear. However, when we arrived at the parking lot there sat big yellow evidence that my plan was a terrible, horrible plan. School buses. Large school buses that could fits lots and lots of elementary aged children. And despite hoping they were all in taco bell, I knew where they were. They were in the palace of ice. But the ticket lady assured us the children would be leaving in 30 minutes, which meant we went inside and stood by a wall for thirty minutes and watched a sizable herd of small children limbo. And we did not stray from that wall until every last child has exited the building. Not that I don't like children, I have three. And I very much like my children. So there. The place itself looked a whole lot like it did back when I was a super cool teenager hanging out with my besties, checking out the speed skating boys and requesting "Another Night" from the DJ and wishing so-and-so would hold my hand and skate around the colored circles in the dark. Even the menu was familiar. It took me a moment to get the hang of it, but to my delight I could still ice skate like a pro. Like a pro who gets wobbly if they pick up too much speed and stops by slamming into the wall. The gf, however, opted to hang out in the walker area, going in small ovals all by herself despite the fact that she is usually an agile, coordinated badass. So I went in big wobbly ovals in the adult area, and she went in small assisted ovals in the kiddie area and when I passed by we would wave and it was very very romantic. Then my feet began to feel like they were being stabbed with swords from all angles and that meant our visit was done. We may have waited 30 minutes for kids to leave, then 15 minutes for the ice to be cleaned, then only skated for 20 minutes before leaving but never mind that. We had fun. read more

Dropped of our kids to skate and they were not old they only had a hour to skate before they would have to leave for an hour then pay AGAIN to re enter. So paid for all of them to get in and by the time they got settled and their skates they had 45 minutes to skate. We had no idea they close for an hour and we need to pay again. Total waste of money and very inconsiderate that non of the workers told us. read more

If you don't have your own skates, don't bother. It's simply not enjoyable with the house blades.

Okay okay, I think you all saw this coming. Who isn't going to write a review on this place?! Growing up it was my childhood go to! Now that I got kids of my own I would hope the same for them. Nothing has changed! Not ONE tad bit! You would think with this world of technology that we now have it would be different, but nope. Everything is still as I remembered ~ arcade, skating rink, bleachers, concession area for hot chocolate, ice cream, etc... now when I went here recently it was for my daughters party. They had a screw up where they canceled on literally the hours counting down to her party. My daughters actual REAL birthday was on the day that ice palace had canceled due to ice not safe enough to skate on. So it was bummer to cancel on my 7yo. She had some classmates that could make it and I had a few other guests that could make it. Ice palace did a great job at accommodating a new party date on the following weekend. However, it was still a disappointment that a few of our guests couldn't make it to this date esp. her friends. The ice had to smoothed our very often leaving us with less skating time. Nonetheless, still a great experience and still warms my heart as it did when I was a child. I will have to come back and enjoy myself more. Customer service is great, however they lacked in communicating the readiness of the ice. read more

While being the only ice rink in Hawaii is a plus, it's really not worth the almost $10/person if you aren't a proficient skater. I guess I did it wrong since I came out with a blister and overall soreness on my feet. Better skaters whiz by and make it even harder for me to get my balance and figure it out. Those who are better at skating are quite rude - one spun and shot ice right at my brother and didn't apologize! As for cleanliness, this place should get zero stars. The mold/corrosion on the ceilings and walls is disgusting and don't even get me started on the bathrooms. They look as if it hasn't been cleaned in a few years and the soap dispensers are always out. read more
