I haven't been to Ice Palace in years!!! But we just went a few days ago for my nieces birthday and it was so nostalgic. The workers were helpful, check in for the party was smooth, and having our own reserved tables upstairs really helped. It does get a little warm upstairs as we were right next to the pizza making but we cooled down quickly once we were on the ice. Sidenote: the pizza had no business tasting that good. Started coming here when they opened many moons ago and then as a mom with my kids for their birthday parties, so was happy to see not much had changed. Located at 4510 Salt Lake Blvd, in Stadium Mall shopping center which is Diamond Head of Aloha Stadium. It has plenty of free parking. Hours vary depending on the day due to ice hockey team practices, their games and skating lessons. Sometimes rink is closed for a week to two weeks for maintenance so be sure to check website first. Saturday hours are 10:00 am - 4:00 pm then close down and reopen at 5:00ish for the evening customers. Ticket prices are reasonable at $18 for all ages and include the skates. Must bring own socks. If you are not skating and merely a chaperone for young keiki, I didn't get charged. No outside food or flasks allowed. We were there Saturday morning and staff handing out the skates were quick and efficient so it went fast. You just tell them your size shoe and they're back in a flash with the skates. Enough tables and stools to sit down to put on skates. There's also aluminum bleachers on one side for onlookers. But bleachers are cold on your okole so maybe sit on your sweater? A fun live deejay keeps the music going entire time with jokes and other information. Kids and adults enjoy a cordoned off area with "walkers" to hold onto and push yourself around a small area to get the hang of it. Venturing out to the open larger part of rink you can clutch onto rails as you walk around or practice your spins in the middle of rink. There are two staff skate patrollers to enforce rules for the safety of others and they are very good about it and kind. Things like not holding hands in large groups - only a couple are allowed - no holding phones in hands to take pictures while on ice, no carrying of children on the ice, no jumping or racing allowed. Toward end of morning session the deejay turned off majority of lights and disco ball lit up to make it fun! How the kids screamed with glee when this happened. Then they do a limbo contest and the kids line up trying their best to skate under a stick as it gets lower and lower. No prizes given just the fun of participating! Onto the concession. Very nice staff working this area. Standard food like nachos, saimin, pizza and bottled water, hot chocolate available. Not real pricey and it's good to take a break then back to the ice. I noticed many kids not wearing warm items- shorts and tshirts - but evidently all the skating around gets them hot so they don't feel the cold at all. Onlookers beware it's like 40 degrees inside so I dressed warmly. A Pro Shop is available for gloves, hats, skates and other paraphernalia. Lose one star due to employee who wasn't very nice when I bought gloves for granddaughter but didn't fit her so went back right away to exchange and she wouldn't let me. Tersely said "no returns!" It's not like we wore them all day then tried to return. Just wanted to exchange within a couple of minutes of buying for larger pair. That being said I didn't argue, just paid the $6 for another pair. Bathrooms were roomy and clean with padded floors so you could walk in with skates on. Oh and one last thing, if you leave the rink they won't let you come back in without paying. You'll have to buy another ticket. This is to prevent people from buying cheaper or other food outside then returning. They want to keep their concession open so it makes total business sense. Grandparents enjoy babysitting because kids are on ice entire time and you can just watch them with a nice cup of hot chocolate! When the deejay announces they are closing up, there's a mad dash to return skates but all you have to do is plop them down on the counter- no need sign anything or check out with staff. I had my son's 12th birthday party here and it was PERFECT! They had an informative handout to start off, then they made the reservation process SOOO easy! On the party day, we checked-in and paid smoothly, waited in the "party" line so we'd be allowed to enter first! When we got up to our party tables, they were set up, clean, labeled (so we knew which we could use), and the staff were READY for us! I placed my pizza order and the pizzas were ready as soon as the kids got their skates, so everyone go to eat hot food before going on the ice! This place is so fun for $18 skate rental and free for observers for as long as you want. Sure there's a line for the assistant contraptions to help you skate but the rink itself is a free for all. Yes, the skates are old and kinda gross but they are just like bowling shoes rentals. Great music for the generations and it's fun to dance to the musics. There are games for skaters. Nice to be able to ice skate here in Hawaii. This place is still popular, had my nieces party here. Great set up of tables towards the back end of the room. We were able to bring our own desserts and birthday cake. Food was okay, the kids wanted pizza and nacho's. They have different skate sessions for advanced skaters, also fun games in the rink to watch. The staff don't check on the party, but they were helpful, and there when we needed them. We recently visited Ice Palace and it was so much fun! It's the only ice skating rink here on Oahu so it does tend to get busy the later in the day you go. It's definitely chilly inside so dress appropriately. It's $18.99 per person to skate, including skate rentals. If you need a locker to store your personal items, it's .50¢, quarters only. Keep in mind you will need .50¢ each time you unlock/relock your locker. No food or drink (even water bottles) are allowed inside but they do have a concession stand with hot dogs, nachos, pizza, popcorn, hot chocolate and more. There is NO reentry once you enter/exit. They have good music throughout and a decent sized skating area for the novice skaters. For the beginners, there is a small area roped off in the front with "skating trainers" for the littles. read more

Everything inside ice palace looks pretty much the same as before, I thought they would've done a full revamp since it still looks outdated. I haven't been to ice palace probably since high school which was about 20 years ago. Dang, how much the prices went up! $18 a ticket! Insane. Anyways, I decided to make my daughter's birthday here. For the first and last time. Over the phone a girl had told me that I could come early to set up. I thought cool. Gives me time before my guest comes. Upon arriving I was told I can't go up until 1:30 which was my scheduled time. Now all my guest were just awkwardly standing around confused. Waiting till it was time. I had to apologize multiple times because I had planned the time. And now it's been pushed back. They had really overbooked that place. Everyone was bumping each other back to back with other parties. No space to walk or sit. I couldn't book another table. Which was $60 additional. CRAZY!!! Some of my guest decided to sit on the ground because it was just that crazy. I felt so bad. It also sucked that I couldn't bring my own drinks in. The party was hectic. Never again! read more

What happened to this place. New ownership I thought maybe things would be renovated but still kept its charm. As some one who has skated everyweekend as a teenager and have brought my own kids its lost its fun. Here is a list of things that Ice Palace doesn't do anymore or at least when I was there. - No birthday shout outs, -No DJ, -Music selection blah, - Music soft not loud enough, - Temperature in palace not cold enough and that makes the ice slippery, -Not enough trainers for beginner skaters, -Rules over the mic they always did that and why -Shoes left under benches on the locker room side bags left unattended, -Game room now a storage room, -People allowed to hangout on ice against the walls back in the day the skate guards were on it telling people to keep moving etc. Also skate guards who help people up notice small kids falling and not being helped. -Did you change the pizza? Its not as good as before. -No 4 corners, speed skating, limbo?? This place used to be cool and hype and exciting now its just plain and underwhelming. Change happens but why take something and make it worse it was nostalgic the way it was maybe if the new owners upgraded the restrooms as they still look the same since I was 14. (Im 44 now) put some cool art on the wall like before who are we catering too?? Local families been coming here forever its sad to see it go so plain. Anyways just my opinion could've made it better and still kept some of the nostalgia. For safety you should really fix that temperature its not cold enough ice puddles and it never used to do that as much as it does now the number of people falling was crazy. Review needed an update since things have changed or I remembered incorrectly... -No in & out privileges. -$16 admission with diff skate sessions/periods. -Open to 1600 or 1700 to close was the skate period for Sat 5/13/23. (Calendar with hours available on their website) I believe you'd need to pay admission for diff periods to skate. Still 5 hours of skate with skates included is not an awful deal. -on our visit today the games were shut down. -season passes not available. As usual we had a great time skating. I would love to have more visits but to pay $16 per person every visit is a bit much for us. Would be nice to offer a season pass. I'd even buy our own skates, tbh the rental skates do not smell nice at all *hurl*. Don't know bout yall, but that's def how I am... I do not like wearing others footwear at all! Came here for the first time in years and it was pretty much how I remember it, just more expensive. Same bleachers, same lockers, same bathroom, same food, same 4 corners game, same old guys trying to show off. Not complaining and actually kind of liked that it still seemed like the same Ice Palace from my younger days. I was worried about long lines to get in, but there were only a few people in front of us at around 11 am on a weekend. Lockers were 50 cents to rent but only take quarters so bring some change or bills to make change. There wasn't much wait for those walker things for beginners. Food was what you'd expect and the line moved fast even when everyone had to get off the ice. The reason I gave it 2 stars is because one of the workers on the ice stationed near the beginners area was more interested in talking to his friends than actually doing his job. He literally stood in the same spot on the ice his entire shift. I remember back in the day, when someone fell down, the workers were there immediately to check on them and help them up but not anymore. They didn't even try to enforce any of the rules. There were people who clearly didn't belong in the beginners area zig zagging through the kids, some playing tag, and even a few kids using the walker things like bumper cars with the worker doing absolutely nothing. I had to scold some of the kids myself. (One of the two workers was a lot better than the other but he was only was assigned to the beginners area for a short time.) read more

After being close for nearly 3 years, the ice rink has dusted off Its cobwebs and finally re-opened. This time with a refreshed snack bar, new bleachers, and second floor updated party area. The price of admissions is $16/skater with no in or out privileges. No charge for non skaters. Skate times are broken out into two different sessions. A morning- afternoon and evening sessions. They raised the price $1 since last year, so it's $18 admission now which is still a great deal. We arrived at 10a and stayed til closing at 2:30p, they open again at 4p I believe for the evening. We had pizza (good) & popcorn (too salty), nachos with chili, cheese & salsa (pretty standard and ok) & churros. They closed the ice twice to Zamboni it while we were there and they also played a limbo game. Kids had a great time. Ice palace is finally open again!! Was really excited to check this out. The 16$ per visit is quite costly though but when there's only one option on island you have no choice. Ice quality was alright but due to the amount of skaters it got chopped up pretty quick and wasn't super level. I called early and they said to try to line up an hour early. I did so and was able to get in within the first 15 minutes. The skates are also pretty painful and will cause blisters so wear thick socks that cover a few inches above your ankles. My boyfriend's skates had some issues (weren't sharpened) and causing slippages but they let him trade and acknowledged he was right about the quality of the blade being dull. They have seating for parties and places for people to eat and even areas around the rink to pause and sit. There were so many kids and teens when we went but that makes sense since there was no school today. Generally those who don't skate well will hold the rails and then you have the super advanced ones that will weave in and out super quickly so you have to be careful to not run into both types. They had staff on ice helping people get up that fell. Hopefully the prices will go down or they will allow for multi-visit or discounted passes. read more

It's been 3 years since Ice Palace shut down due to Covid, I am so glad that they open up in time for the kids to enjoy during Winter Break. The new hours broken down the visiting hours into 3 parts per day: 9 am to 1 pm, 2 pm to 6 pm ; and 7 pm to 10 pm. Each window is really sufficient time for you to skate and enjoy with friends. I am so glad Ice Palace opened back up! We came here during spring break with our kiddos and they had so much fun. The wait looks long but once they open, it goes fast. It is $16 for each skater, chaperones are free. Check their website for skate times as it differs throughout the week. We did the 10a-2p session and it was more than enough time. My kids started in the beginners section and was able to "graduate" to the larger section when they feel comfortable enough to skate without a walker. Ice Palace has finally reopened! Gosh this place brings back memories from my teenie bopper days...lol. We were super excited for this reopening and brought the kids to enjoy it. There are sessions to choose from 9am-1pm, 2pm-6pm, and 7pm-10pm. We came in just before 1pm to do the 2nd session of the day and boy that line was sooooooooo long! It was all the way to Stadium station! I suggest getting there way over an hour before the start of the session you want... Admission is $16 per skater, chaperones are free. No outside cups, bottles or water bottles allowed. If you bring them ins they will have you leave it with them at the ticket office/store. I had to give up my son's water bottle. It was really crowded and busy but the kids had such a fun time, we stayed the whole 4 hours. We bought a whole pizza and soda for snacks and they also have lockers to keep your personal belongings. Bring coins/quarters if you want to use the lockers. They have a section for beginners on the ice and for people using the skate trainers (walkers). But be warned, there may be a line to wait for these trainers when it gets busy. The ice was so crowded today... My daughter got invited to her guy friend's birthday party here. Pretty amazing place. I did not participate in ice skating but my daughter did and told me all about it. They have these metal pushers that actually help assist you if you don't know how to ice skate. At the entrance, there's a young lady with a speaker and glass in front. You had to tell them you're attending a birthday party otherwise they charge a fee to get in to rent skates and the time you're allowed there. Not sure how much the fees were being I was there just to walk my daughter inside to meet her friend's mom. Let me tell you, I was wearing jeans and a shirt and I was freezing inside lol. The AC is on and of course the ice on the skating rink makes it cold. If you're like me, bring a jacket inside. I felt better walking back outside. Haha. Parking was full and I ended up parking towards the entrance of this shopping center. Good thing I didn't leave. I had stayed around and ate lunch there while waiting for my daughter. The price of entry is fine but the 3.75 for weak hot chocolate is ridiculous as well as slice of pizza for almost $5 and is tiny. The music for the mid day session was awful. So we've been here nearly half a dozen timed and recently held my son's birthday party here. The management is great! Since they made a minor adjustments for us. Although the party area seemed a little small for all the ongoing parties the staff seemed to have everything handled pretty smoothly and everyone in our party enjoyed themselves. The only thing I would recommend is that they would have separate times for the birthday parties so its not overcrowded and it would probably be a little more enjoyable for the little ones. We've just visited a few days ago again and was able to beat the craziness of crowds. Staff as always is nice and they do a great job of reminding skaters of the rules and cautions. read more

Here's a place you can have some real fun...Ice Palace! Inspired by the winter Olympics and missing my hometown of Chicago during the winter inspired me to take a trip to Ice Palace to see if I still could remember how to skate... Luckily on Saturdays they have public skating from 11a -11p. The cost for adult general admission is $11.50, and that includes the skate rental. What a deal! We came around 2p and the place was packed with mostly middle school kids at birthday parties, but the ice rink is so big, there's room for everyone! My boyfriend and I laced up our hockey skates and went for it. Man! It brought back so many good memories of roller rink parties growing up. The atmosphere is nice and COLD, which is a nice reprieve from the hot Hawaii temperatures. They also blast fun, upbeat music to skate to. I loved every moment of going round and round, getting my heartbeat up, and grooving to the music. Talk about good old-fashioned fun! At one point, they cleared everyone from the ice for a limbo contest, which I knew better than to participate in, lol. It was entertaining to watch the kids go under the limbo stick and try to win. After cleaning the ice, we were unleashed once more for as many laps as we could handle before calling it quits. I loved it so much, I'm considering going back several times just to change up my workouts. It was a great workout, and a fun, different one, at that. The locker rentals are cheap at $.50, and they have plenty of snacks at the booth to keep you fulfilled during your stay. Overall, a highly recommended experience. read more

IMO, I feel like it's strange to have a long-standing ice skating rink in Hawaii. After all, Hawaii is a place for outdoor, fun in the sun activities! Who would've thought Hawaii people like ice skating?!?! You will be surprised to see many preteens, some younger children, and some daring adults out on the icy rink gliding and falling on their butts. For $11.50 per skater, it's a decent price to get out of the heat for a few hours. I've brought my daughter to skate with a friend and only paid for the kids because only skaters need to pay. I was able to read a book on the bleachers and chill! The facility is quite outdated and seems like it's never been through a renovation. At the same time, the oldness of the place is quite comforting or maybe nostalgic. The snack bar provide straight forward snack bar items- pizza, nachos, HOT CHOCOLATE, saimin, to name a few. Recently, I celebrated my daughters' 9th birthday here. It was quick and easy. Two hours to be exact. Low frills. We were able to bring in a cake and other food items that were not pizza. You can bring ur own food!(love it, not many places do) just not pizza. The place was nicely set up when we arrived, we did have our own balloons, cake, table cloths , buffalo wings & pupu. The pizzas were good for the kids, we had the soda pitchers& waters were refillable. What I would have done different. We reserved 1230-230....We should have gotten here at 10-11, so the kids could skate more, then at 1230 have the food ready. Bc we got there at 1230-food came at 130-and they didn't have much time to skate, as the ring closes for ballerinas at 245pm. They let us move to a table downstairs, so we could let the kids eat desserts while we watched the beautiful skaters skate. It was awesome bc we kinda had the place to ourselves in the rink, and upstairs we were the only party so it was all us. All in all we will def do this again. read more

So now I take my kids here to skate and can get my work done on my laptop in a nice air-conditioned place for free. ADMISSION: $10.75 per skater, any age. Non skaters can go in for FREE. FOOD: pizza, nachos, churros, and popcorn. Same as back in the 80s. SKATES: rentals come with admission cost. Not the greatest quality, and the skates are stinky but it's FREE. UPSTAIRS PARTY DECK: this is new since the 80s. My daughter's cheer team decided to meet up for a group outing at Ice Palace and whoa, I can't believe I haven't been here in over ten years! It's more modern than when I was a kid, but the bones of the place are still the same. Admission is $11.50 for skaters, and free if you're just a chaperone not skating. We came here on a Sunday so it was jam packed with birthday parties and skaters of all ages. We grabbed our skates and found a seat to change into our shoes. When we got on the ice it was really wet and not the easiest to skate on if you're a beginner. Our 8-year old daughter who had learned to skate during a trip to Canada last year wasn't able to get her footing since it was so slick and ended up in the beginners area with a walker. She still loved it though and we spent three hours skating in a circle. Welcome to parenting kids! We took a few breaks while my husband tended to his giant ankle blisters and gorged on a completely unhealthy diet of snack bar food made of cheese nachos, popcorn and hot cocoa. I really wanted to throw up by the end of our snack attack, but I'm sure I'll do it all again on my next visit. Basically my daughter is now addicted to Ice Palace and I want to take figure skating lessons. Parking at Stadium Mall is super crazy on the weekend so be sure to get there early or you'll have to circle the parking lot for ages. read more

A great place to spend the summer. We celebrate our children's birthday parties here because they really enjoy skating on the ice. Parties are held in an upstairs area, you are allowed to bring outside food and cake but any kind of outside drinks are NOT ALLOWED. It's often crowded, I was more afraid of people slamming into me then falling on the ice, I didn't fall but came close to getting hit by others trying to learn how to skate. We booked the place for two hours and thirty minutes which I though was not enough time but after skating for thirty minutes I got tired and sat down for the remainder of the visit. I was really sore the next day, I didn't think salting would take a lot out of you. I did get cut from the friction of the skates rubbing against my ankle, so wear high socks when you visit to avoid friction cuts on your ankles, the inside of the skates are tough and will run against your ankles when you skate so plan accordingly for you and your child. This is a hidden gem of Honolulu if I've ever seen one very nice well-maintained ice skating ring near the airport probably built as part of an army recreation project 1150 with skate rental for a two and a half hour session really seems like a bargain I recommend you eat before you go there or after the snack bar has really limited choices but the skates were in good condition the ring was in good to condition the staff were friendly and the patrons were friendly when we went.
