Ice skating in Hawaii while it's 82 degrees outside?! Yes! A skating rink where you can bundle up in winter gear is such a treat on a hot Hawaiian day. This place is so fun for $18 skate rental and free for observers for as long as you want. Sure there's a line for the assistant contraptions to help you skate but the rink itself is a free for all. Yes, the skates are old and kinda gross but they are just like bowling shoes rentals. Great music for the generations and it's fun to dance to the musics. There are games for skaters. Also fun to watch Zamboni clean ice. No outside food. No water bottles. Purchase of food and drink had to be through the concession stands. Bring $050 for a locker to store your food.

Nice to be able to ice skate here in Hawaii. This place is still popular, had my nieces party here. Great set up of tables towards the back end of the room. We were able to bring our own desserts and birthday cake. Food was okay, the kids wanted pizza and nacho's. They have different skate sessions for advanced skaters, also fun games in the rink to watch. The staff don't check on the party, but they were helpful, and there when we needed them. We closed this place down and they didn't chase us out. Love that they displayed the birthday girl's name for everyone to see!

We recently visited Ice Palace and it was so much fun! It's the only ice skating rink here on Oahu so it does tend to get busy the later in the day you go. It's definitely chilly inside so dress appropriately. It's $18.99 per person to skate, including skate rentals. If you need a locker to store your personal items, it's .50¢, quarters only. Keep in mind you will need .50¢ each time you unlock/relock your locker. No food or drink (even water bottles) are allowed inside but they do have a concession stand with hot dogs, nachos, pizza, popcorn, hot chocolate and more. There is NO reentry once you enter/exit. They have good music throughout and a decent sized skating area for the novice skaters. For the beginners, there is a small area roped off in the front with "skating trainers" for the littles.

Review needed an update since things have changed or I remembered incorrectly... -No in & out privileges. -$16 admission with diff skate sessions/periods. -Open to 1600 or 1700 to close was the skate period for Sat 5/13/23. (Calendar with hours available on their website) I believe you'd need to pay admission for diff periods to skate. Still 5 hours of skate with skates included is not an awful deal. -on our visit today the games were shut down. -season passes not available. As usual we had a great time skating. I would love to have more visits but to pay $16 per person every visit is a bit much for us. Would be nice to offer a season pass. I'd even buy our own skates, tbh the rental skates do not smell nice at all *hurl*. Don't know bout yall, but that's def how I am... I do not like wearing others footwear at all! Even with all that said, we will still be back.

Ice palace is finally open again!! Was really excited to check this out. The 16$ per visit is quite costly though but when there's only one option on island you have no choice. Ice quality was alright but due to the amount of skaters it got chopped up pretty quick and wasn't super level. I called early and they said to try to line up an hour early. I did so and was able to get in within the first 15 minutes. The skates are also pretty painful and will cause blisters so wear thick socks that cover a few inches above your ankles. My boyfriend's skates had some issues (weren't sharpened) and causing slippages but they let him trade and acknowledged he was right about the quality of the blade being dull. They have seating for parties and places for people to eat and even areas around the rink to pause and sit. There were so many kids and teens when we went but that makes sense since there was no school today. Generally those who don't skate well will hold the rails and then you have the super advanced ones that will weave in and out super quickly so you have to be careful to not run into both types. They had staff on ice helping people get up that fell. Hopefully the prices will go down or they will allow for multi-visit or discounted passes.

Ask the Community - Ice Palace

Do they have lockers? What is the cost?

Yes they have lockers. I don't know the exact cost but I was told to bring quarters.

Is Ice Palace cash only, or do they accept debit/ credit cards?

Not cash only. They accept debit and credit cards too

    When will they reopen?

They are opening December 20th 2022

    Is it open?

They are preparing to open according to their instagram. They posted on December 15, 2022.

It's like November now... when are they planning to reopen?

Are they still temporarily closed due to covid?

    Yes

What is the range of sizes available for skates here? Spec. how small for toddlers?

My 3 year old had Y8. Not sure what that meant but she's petit. They have one of those wooden foot measuring device so they can get you the right skate.

What is the current rate as of August 2018? Is there a rate for youth vs. adult? Are chaperones who aren't skating, free? Is Jamba Juice allowed into the Ice Palace?

The prices for adults and youth is the same. It's $11.50...and chaperones that aren't skating is free. And I'm not sure about outside food...

Are Sunday's usually busy with the public skating?

I went on Sunday and it wasn't crowded at all!

Is the arcade still there? More specifically, is Point blank still there?

Yes. Small game room located by the snack bar.

They have some kind of a special - I can't remember exactly what it was - maybe $10 for 2 hours? And then renting skates are $5, or you can bring your own. They have both roller skates and rollerblades. The staff was very patient with me when I asked for skates, then switched to blades, then back to skates (and they do spray sanitizer on it between feet). It's been a minute since I've rollerbladed (I don't think I've ever skated before) so yes, I was one of those adults using the skate helpers (lol). They don't allow phones in the rink (which makes sense) but I was able to sneak a few photos. For a Sunday afternoon, it surprisingly wasn't too crowded. It's definitely a fun place to bring kids to.

This place would be great for family parties, birthday parties, baby showers, recreational activities, and even private functions. Today's visit was because of the MAKAHIKI festival which my sons Cornwall and Hula Halal had performed for today. Aside of the activities for the MAKAHIKI festival, the performance was awesome. Being that they did a lot on their own by themselves for the first time they did well. HOWEVER, to hold an event & to utilize these facilities, you must have MILITARY CONNECTIONS. OF COURSE, Public access is available to civilians, but with LIMITED ACCESS to the beachfront & shores ONLY. Civilians are NOT ALLOWED to use or rent the facilities. I asked the CITY & COUNTY and they said this place IS NOT on their list & as far as for the STATE, they said they have no rental information on these facilities. So... that means... it's through MILITARY OFFICIALS ONLY! To be honest, I'm SURE military will say it's because this is "PEARL HARBOR", where their military is located, they have to take precautions to whom has access to the area. WHICH FOR ME, KINDA SUCKS because this place WAS once where my kupunas (older aunts & uncles) used swim & look for oyesters for food & pearls for jewelry/decorations, WAAY before the HARBOR was built for the military and now... a grandniece of theirs, a KANAKA, has LIMITED access to the area. As a civilian... we're FORBIDDEN from using "THEIR FACILITY". Doesn't really seem fair, doesn't it?! But that's the so called RULES. let's hope in due time there is a way to allow civilians the use of this area WITHOUT military connections. Anywho, if you have a chance to rent this spot, GO FOR IT!!!! And be sure to TAKE CARE OF THE PLACE TOO! Just because military has the say over this area, doesn't mean we should destroy or ruin the property itself. It is still OUR AINA! And Regardless if your ARE KANAKA OR NOT, just treat this place as if it was YOUR OWN HOME. And if you MISTREAT it and say that's how you'd treat your own home, then I can only imagine how embarrassed your parents must feel to have raised such a sloppy individual. POOR THING, YOU... SAD... SAD... SAD... BEING. Okie dokes... artichokes! Have a good one and thanks for reading.
