Our coach went motion by motion, to show us the technique for throwing an axe. She stepped back and watched the first few throws and then offered a little more guidance. I had zero experience, never even touched an ax before this so it took me a while to get the hang of it. It was a little discouraging at first but overall, we had friendly competition on our scoreboard and the time went by too fast. Pleasantly surprised to see a full bar with great options. 5 stars for the service and activity! 3 stars for food. Kelly was a great ax throwing teacher, showing us different techniques including trick throws. And damn she's good at throwing! We had a great time hurling the blade down the lane as if we were preparing for the apocalypse. I will definitely be coming back here again. Food was just okay. Went to this place for my sibling's birthday tonight! We had great fun and everything was good, but SUPER HORRIBLE attitude from the tall, skinny lady working. She never came by to check on us and got mad at us for "breaking the wood even more" when she didn't care to even change us out of our row or anything! LIKE GIRL!! The wood was already all broken up before we started throwing!! ALSO! Don't get me started on when she tried to take a pic of our family and had the meanest mug on her face ever like it was something so difficult for her to do. Sometimes people gotta stick to what they're good at and leave this type of profession for people who love people too. The place is located in kakaako area. Very easy to find the shop. We booked an alley online and also pre signed a waiver. Doing everything online made the checkin process quicker. During check in, if drinking, you will receive a band. They have a bar and also some pupus! Our attendant was very helpful and informative. Also to mention very good with demonstrating the different ways of axe throwing. If you want to come and try axe throwing, definitely go with friends and challenge yourself. It was fun! John is the GOAT! This place was the perfect spot for a little company fun. John was a one man show and he did an amazing job taking care of everything from the front desk, to the bar, to the kitchen, to the instruction. Oh my Goodness!!! One of my favorite date nights we've had in so long!! On a whim, we made reservations a week out for a 4:20pm time slot. Each reservation is for an hour and a half. For two people, I think that's a perfect amount of time, maybe even for up to 4 people. Anymore, and I think reserving a double time slot would be better. Well, we were running late due to a bit of traffic, so we called to let them know. They were pretty empty at the time, so they pushed our reservation time back 10 minutes so we'd still have a full hour and a half. And, it makes everything go by faster of your party fills out the waivers online beforehand. When we got there, they checked for that and gave is wristbands foe drinks where they keep track of how many you consume. After 2 drinks, you get cut off from throwing the axes if your order a third, but you can still drink. When they show you which lane you'll be using, a coach goes over a few different throws and the rules with you, and makes sure you get a hang of it before they leave you alone with the axe! Our coach was Kyle, and he was super great! After we got awarded and got a hang of it, it turned out to be soooo much fun!! About a half hour before our time was up, Kyle came back to show us how to do some "trick shots", some even with 2 axes! Been here two times without reservations and had fun both times. The first time I went with a coworker to celebrate my birthday. Yesterday I brought my 14-year-old son for some quality time before school starts. The coach on my first visit (forgot his name) gave a brief demo and left us to do our thing. That evening an organization booked a few lanes so we had maybe an hour to play but it was enough. The coach also very kindly charged us for 30 minute trial or something (my coworker paid). We had chips and salsa, they were ok. My coworker's driver's permit expired so she wasn't allowed to drink alcohol. Our coach last night was Xoe. She and the other staff working were all very nice. She gave a very thorough demo and safety briefing and had us throw a few times until our axes stuck. And then around an hour later or so she showed us trick shots! That was fun. She didn't push us to order drinks or food and I appreciate that. 1.5 hours is more than enough for both of us. We played first to 50 and AXES. My right arm is a little sore today! It was Student (and I think educator/staff/faculty) night last night so we got 50% off! Every Wednesday for August 2023. Parking at Keauhou Place was $2 with validation. Otherwise it's $9! read more

I took my fiancé here for his birthday celebration. We came on a weekday in the afternoon so we literally had the entire place to ourselves for a while. It was great because the server also acted as our coach and mixologist for drinks. He was great at demonstrating different ways to throw the axe and showing us how to do trick shots. There's also options for different ways to play the axe throwing games and keeping score, which makes for a great way to spend time! We ordered the kalua pork nachos and bbq flatbread, but the food was just alright for us. The drinks were good though. Parking is located in the structure with validation. The 1st hour is free, or you could look around the area for street parking if you get lucky. I'm not sure what happens after two; however, I've seen a few posts that share they give you another band and may limit your intake. On a busy night, getting bar service might be a little tricky since the Coaches who show you how to throw the axe also manage the front door, the food, and the bar. That might knock a star down for some, so to each their own. Of course, Kyle is the star of the show in every Yelp; which is true to what every good post says about him. Second time visiting these guys, and a first at the new location. The instruction was great, the workers so friendly, the only negative was that it wasn't apparent upon booking that their bar was not ready and it wasn't BYO like the previous location. Axe throwing is a hobby I never new I needed in my life. Full body workout without even knowing you did it. Local or visiting, it's a great way to spend an evening or rainy day. I'm utterly hopeless at it, and still smiled the whole time. We'll definitely go back, it's not a huge issue, we'd just purchased beverages in prep and felt like naughty school kids getting them confiscated (but returned!). After awhile, they show you how to do "trick shots", slightly more difficult throws that actually make you want to stay longer to figure out lol. Literally LOVEEEEEE IT HERE!!!!!! If you want to feel like a Viking for an hour or so come on down and get your arms swangin'! It's actually harder than it looks. I made the reservations online because the Yelp reviews said to and I'm just that type of person lol. But I thought it was located in the same area as the Moku restaurant but not quiet. It's a block more inside and in a different building. So park inside down to earth and walk all the way past the sweat room area and you'll see it on your right. I think we where a couple mins late just because we had to pull over and read the reviews about parking. The sign for this place is incredibly small. When we entered there was literally no one. When you place your reservation online with a card, they don't charge that card just yet. So you can change your card payment once you're done...just in case you'd like to pay with a different card! They said they do that just in case you don't show up then they would charge you. Also I let them know it's my bday tomorrow so they have a bday discount (thank you!!) in the end, they validate and we only paid $1 :) super happy about that! The parking meter only accepts card. When she gave us our lane, she taught us how to throw and then picked the level we're going to throw at. It was scary at first, not going to lie, I screamed every time it hit the board!!!! My bf is really good so he got the hang of it really quickly. I think it's more of the technique than strength... maybe a little strength. Then after we got the hang of it we played their game. This was such a fun experience! We had coach Alex. He was super informative and helpful! He told us how to throw the axe and watched us throw and told us what line we should stand on. the most helpful information was if your axe was bouncing back move up a line. We are both fairly athletic but after an hour and half of axe throwing it did help us to move up a line! You scan a little QR code and it tells you several rules to the games. Alex will even come over and teach you some "trick shots" if he's not to busy that is. We went at 4pm on a Sunday and it got pretty busy around 5. Parking there is tight. There are about 6 ish spots in front of the axe throwing shop. I'm always skeptical of parking in that area! It takes me forever to find it. It's not metered in front of the shop, so that's a plus! But I always just park at Whole Foods or the ward village! It's free and I know I'll have parking there in a well lit place. Tip: if you sign up for their offers, you'll get $5.00 off your visit. Once you check in and get your wristband, you'll be assigned a guide. Your guide will go over safety, different throws and check in on you during your session. I'd have to say that axe throwing is a lot harder that it looks! We had a lot of fun and played several of the games! Although I made a shared lane reservation , we had the lane to ourselves as it wasn't too busy. Tried throwing axes for the first time tonight after a friend made a reservation for us. Upon arriving, you sign an electronic waiver, get a wrist band, then go to your designated lane. We had a group of six and stayed there for about an hour and a half. Tonight there were two staff members who came around to help us with our throwing technique- throwing an axe with two hands, throwing an axe with one hand, throwing an axe underhand, and throwing double axes both together and apart. Pros: -there are different games you can play- they gave an instruction book -there is a complimentary photo booth with props -snacks like chips and drinks are sold here -staff here were really amazing, knowledgeable and friendly -there were two restroom stalls that were clean Cons: -it gets really hot and stuffy here. There is no air conditioning, just a few fans, so all of us were sweating -lanes are close to each other. We were next to a large group so the tables/space was pretty tight. I wish there was a bit more space between lanes for privacy -it can get pretty loud in here when busy which makes it hard to hear instructions from the staff when you are at the lanes.
