Ice skating in Hawaii? I know it sounds weird, right? My daughter has been asking to go since she got hooked over this past winter skating at Ward Village. The rink is pretty large and the music is not bad. This place is good for first time skaters because they have this crutch to help. The only thing though was my daughter got really cold, so make sure you bring some warm clothing. read more

Haven't been here in years yet it still looks absolutely the same. A bit outdated and could use a new uplift. Otherwise still enjoy it here for the most part. Only gripe really is that because there are no in/out privileges, you're pretty much stuck inside until your party is absolutely ready to leave. If that's the case I wish they'd at least have a "warm" room for those of us who want to defrost or thaw off as spending even an hour there numbs the body. I swear it was possibly the longest 2 1/2 hours of my life there freezing my butt off lol. However the kids enjoy it and it's reasonably priced. read more

Staff is very friendly and helpful! I came here with my friends to learn to skate and I had the wrong posture and fell back and hit my head. Ouch. I was immediately helped up by my friends and then a friendly male employe asked if I was okay and offered me an ice pack, which sounded like a good idea so I took it. He helped me get the ice pack and led me to the pro shop to write a report. He was very calm which made me feel a bit better since I was internally freaking out from hitting my head. He let me know I could go back out whenever I felt ready. I stayed in the pro shop for a few minutes to get back on my feet and one of the employees came by and told me I could stay as long as I needed to, which also comforted me and made me feel better. When I finally got back out on the ice, my friends never left my side, best friends ever honestly . The male employee who helped me when I fell helped me this time to give me a few pointers! I was extremely grateful, but I was so focused on trying his tips out that I forgot to thank him. I really wish I could've thanked him before I left because he helped make my experience a fun one instead of a scary, painful one. I just wish I knew his name so I could thank him... Since this is the closest thing to a ROLLER SKATING RINK, we decided to give it a try. For being the only skating rink on the island, it's pretty good. However, it could be a lot cleaner and could use renovation. One thing for sure is there aren't a lot of options at the snack bar, so make sure you eat before going. Really wish the DJ played more current music as well or some old school skate jams. Overall it's an average rink, but it's the only option, so it'll have to do. We had my daughters birthday party here. Though we have been here before, i was not sure about hosting a party. But it really turned out to be great. My kids and friends had a very special day. The terrible ice quality has little impact on us terrible skaters and the $9.75 skate all day fee, including skate rentals, is cheap for a fun time and change of pace. It's obviously cold inside, so wear long pants and sleeves and even bring hats & gloves if you plan on an extended visit. Snack bar sells snack-bar quality food in case you are close to starvation as re-admission is not allowed. read more

Waaaay to much young kids there without parental supervision. The facility needs an improvement and more seating areas with tables. They also need to upgrade the menu, very few items and they all plain and nasty. The shoe padding needs to be washed and sanitized. The faculty is nice and helpful. read more

This place is a mess...No doors on the bathroom stalls? Really? Dirty tables. My son has played hockey for five years on the mainland. I was excited to see the one and only facility here on Oahu and was very disappointed. However, it was nice to see a good skating atmosphere. The reviews on the hockey and staking programs get a 5 from most, so we aren't ruling the Palace out yet. read more

My family and I just moved here from the East coast and I was happy to find that there was a place for my son, who is 10, to play ice hockey at. The facility is ok, I'm happy there is ice in Hawaii. But when I started researching how to get him started I was shocked and amazed that the youth hockey program is under ISI Skating, Ice Palace's website says the youth hockey program follows ISI hockey rules. Well, there is no such thing, for a company to blatantly lie about this does not instill confidence in me about there program or my son's safety. ISI caters to figure skaters not hockey players. I understand it's the only rink in the state, but they should not be printing lies. I will give them 2 stars for having ice, but thats all. I don't like business' that lie straight to my face. Maybe people in Hawaii don't know any better about hockey. Sad, I won't put my son on the ice here. read more

I went to Ice Palace back in Dec 2007 and wanted to go ice skating with my cousins. The cool thing was during that day we almost had the whole rink to ourselves and we were having a blast but that all changed. Our experience there at Ice Palace was a disaster mainly because of the way we were handled. After seeing us take pictures they told us we can't do that, so me and my cousins were just like "Oh okay, thats fine" we continue to ice skate (It has not even been an hour yet) and all of a sudden we got stopped again, so were like "Now what?" and they told us we had to leave for no apparent reason and as we were leaving to turn in our skates I was persistent on asking them "What did we do wrong? Tell me one good reason why we were kicked out?" but they just gave me the silent treatment and wouldn't answer my question. I had the assumption it was probably because we weren't locals but one of my cousins was but that should not even matter. So to wrap everything up; rude staff, and kicked out for unjustifiable reasons, we did not do anything wrong that I could think of but we had no idea taking pictures was so wrong. Thank you Ice Palace staff for robbing us of happy memories, our precious time, and oh yeah our money! If it was not for the way we were treated I would of been nice and issued it 5 stars. read more

Expensive, crowded and ridiculous. I paid $48.00 for four people to skate. (Three of us have our own skates, but don't expect to save money that way.) It was so crowded that it took us five minutes just to push our way through the crowd just standing at the entrance to the rink. The ice was pitted and covered in powder for the first hour that we were there. I wanted to save money on lunch since it cost us $48 just to get in the place, but outside food is not allowed and once you leave you are not allowed to re-enter without paying again! So then you are forced to pay even more for their crappy expensive food! I've skated in multiple states. This place is ridiculous. I was extremely disappointed over all. read more

Great place to take the kids when you want to escape the heat. Excellent place for groups and parties. They revamped the admission process- making it mandatory for everyone to get their feet measured before they get their skates. Staff was friendly, and the kids enjoyed their skates. Wish they would provide more walkers ( always a fight for one). Food was decent concession style food. read more

I had my son and daughters birthday party yesterday at Ice Palace. I had reserved the upstairs party area about a month and half in advanced. To keep this review short and sweet, the workers who handle the phones are all on different pages. I've called multiple times from the booking of the reservation to the day before the party and received different information, completely confusing me because they contradicted each other. They do not give you ANY time to set up for your party, not even 10 min. Another issue I had with them is that the employees that were in charge of the upstairs concession stand were VERY RUDE and NOT HELPFUL, NO CUSTOMER SERVICE. I had reserved 7 tables for my party. If you reserve more than 2 tables, you need to pay $42/table. Soooo, when my guests began eating I went to the concession stand to get pitchers of water which I was informed they provided upon request. I asked the guy for 2 pitchers of water for my tables, he replied in a very rude way and said he was not able to give my party that many. I told him okay well can I get at least one per table, he hesitated and seemed like he didn't want to but he probably knew I was irritated already with him. He told me that he needs to make sure he's able to supply the other party that was upstairs which only had two tables for their party, but they had A LOT of pitchers to be able to provide water. Lastly, 3:15 came and the same guy who was giving us attitude at the concession stand told us that we needed to GET OUT from the party area so they could set up for the next party. Told us again in a very rude way and there was no party after us. He really rushed us out. All of this is just the small version of the complaints we have with Ice Palace. For those who are planning a party there, DO NOT DO IT. It is not worth it. Your better off reserving an area at the water park or frick anywhere else! NOT WORTH IT AND HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!! read more

Ok I never was a fan of ice place back in the intermediate days. I couldn't skate therefore I wasn't cool. Well picked up rollerblading as all every 90"s kids did. Never went back to ice place since then. I was invited to a birthday party there last week, so I had to go with my 6 year old daughter, ugh, I was dreading it. I remembered the days of embarrassment and falling on my butt, getting it all wet and looking stupid. The upstairs party area is really hard to navigate and small. Pizza's are ok. So my daughter wanted to skate so we used those skate helper things you know those metal old people looking walking crutches. Anyway we did that for a while and my daughter started going around by herself. I got a bit bold and started skating along side her and noticed that I wasn't wobbly or falling. Got the courage to let go of the crutch and lo and behold I could skate?! OMG and I was awesome! My daughter was impressed and asked how come I was so good at skating... honestly I have no fricken clue I skate so good, I am definitely coming back here! Ha ha! read more

I haven't been here in years, but my son was attending a party there and some things have been upgraded and rearranged. First off, parking is really hard (something I never had to worry about before because as a teen I would catch the bus) but there is an overflow lot under the viaduct. The admission price has gone up to around $9, but it is free if you aren't skating. The skates look like they are fairly new- no funky orange and red colors anymore- and look comfortable. One of the bleachers downstairs has been removed to open up the dining/table area. The remaining bleachers have been upgraded and the space under the bleachers closed up, so no more dropping things and having to go under to find it. Finally, the old arcade room has been replaced by Jamba Juice. Although there is no access, there is a window to see in the store. Everything else is pretty much the same. Kids had a great time, music was good and the pizza was really good! read more

We really enjoy our afternoons spent at Ice Palace. I am so glad our community has this available to us. My only hope is that they better regulate the one-way skating rule. When it comes to a hot summer day, I'd prefer to come here. Man, I'd stay here from open to close. This place is where you and your friends can hang out without being disappointed. Just saying, this must be the best place in the world. The price isn't that pricy and as you go in, you get instant service from getting your ice skates. There are two choices of skates you can choose from figure skates to hockey skates. The staff is very friendly since they aren't grumpy people. Okay so as I got on the ice, the floor was so smooth and it was a great feeling on the ice. I'd recommend you to go at night time since there's much more less people going there but then if you'd go in the morning time, you'll get time to play their games. I got hungry so I decided to go take a trip to the snack bar. When I got my food, I headed off to where there's the benches on the right. So I sat down and took one bite of the pizza. My mind suddenly just exploded. It tasted so good like better than any pizza I've ever tasted. Their hot coca also. It makes you feel warm and it even tastes so good as well. I'm a skinny person, but I'd just eat the whole entire menu. When I fell on the ice, the staff automatically went to me and helped me get up and asked if I was okay. Wow, they're such nice people. If you're a person who doesn't know how to skate, there's this portion the ice rink where you may use these walkers and it helps a lot when u use it for a very well amount of time. One other amazing thing why I like ice palace is when they have the lights turn off and start using other colored lights when it's out of no where to where you expect it. There's no limit to how long you can stay there, so the price of going there is so much worth it. Overall, if you want to go to a place that's cold, fun, and a great place to spend time with your friends and/or family, I would greatly recommend you go to this place. read more

This is another place I decided to check out while on Oahu since it was on the way back to Honolulu. Let me just say I hope the owner of the rink is reading this because it is the most filthiest rink I have ever been too. Its Ok but the bathrooms looked like something you would see at some beat down motel, not an ice rink. The rubber on the ground looked all nasty and is probably filled with so many germs. The food was decent, prices were reasonable which is why I gave two stars. Either then that service is ok a bunch of little kids run the place. If the person who owns it put more time and effort in renovating it I'm sure it would make way more money. The Bathrooms is what really needs to get fixed, I felt like I was going to catch a disease up in that place. read more

I am 72 yrs old, and reside in Mooresville, NC. I lived in Hawaii for 31 years, and my best times of my life is when I went to the Ice Palace. I learned to skate there, play hockey with the greatest guys in the world. I have given up that now, but my memories are forever in my mind. The game showed me what "teamwork" really was, and the people I have met, through the game. The Ice Palace was an escape from the "tropical temperatures" that was on the outside, and the coolness you felt while entering the rink. The employees were a great bunch of people to me, ( I was 40 then, in the 1990's ) and they treated me as if I was family. I will never,ever, forget the good times I have enjoyed, at the Ice Palace...I am so glad it is still thriving and in full operation. It helps the local kids to see what's available in life, and with endurance, can be very good at either figure skating or hockey. I have met some super stars of figure skating , while they stopped by the Ice Palace, on their way to competition in Asia. I met them , also in Denver, Colorado, and went over to them and mentioned that we talked at the Ice Palace, and they revealed a big smile saying " I love that place, so isolated in the Pacific ocean". I gave this place 3 out of 5 and this is so sad because I used to like coming here for special occasions. Today is my sisters birthday and just wanting to have fun we had awful customer service. I am a chaperone and I had to pay for my admission. I questioned the lady nicely of why I needed to pay 11.50 if I'm just chaperoning and sitting there and she answered back rudely it's general admission. My sister asked her a question and she was being rude to her as well. I asked if I could get something in my car and come back and she told me I would need to pay to come back in.. So after an hour of waiting for friends I asked another chaperone if she payed for herself and kids she said no just for the kids. At this point I was pissed. I went back in to general admission and asked the lady nicely of why I got charged when my friend didn't, she was rude again and called for her manager. She explained to the manager that she thought I was just another walk in. But manager was super sweet and took care of me. read more

Where to begin, this has to be the worst ice skating rink that I have ever been to, and I have been to and played at many rinks from the east coast to the west coast. Let's see, starting with the staff. The management has to be the rudest bunch of people I have ever had to deal with all they care about is putting as many people on the ice at one time that they can, you ask them about the hockey program for kids and adults, or do they have pick up hockey for kids, they give you a blank look and tell you to talk to the hockey director, who is also the rudest hockey director I have ever encountered, if you talk to him or question any thing that he does he will tell you how he played NCAA hockey, that may be fine, but he does not know how to coach kids. And they wonder why they loose most of the kids to the rollerhockey rink on the other end of the island. The rink it self is disgusting, bathroom are dirty, no doors on stalls, tiles falling of walls, no locker rooms for hockey players or even figure skaters to change. The proshop is a joke, they sell merchandise from 4 to 5 years ago at full price , and when you ask anyone a question about why they do not get new merchandise , the employees give you a blank look. The ice is terrible, when they run the zamboni they do not even lay fresh water down, they just dry cut it. But once again we are on Hawaii and people only know this place and have never skated at a real rink before, so they have no idea. All I can say is that thank god I am going back to the mainland where they actually have decent rinks and decent hockey and proshops. read more
