I love their ice cream. I honestly truly do. I have been to this spot over 30 times in the past couple of years. The servings are great for the price and I definitely prefer it over Baskin Robbins and Cold Stone. The reason for the 3 stars....is because customer service can be slow and because they appear to be somewhat discriminatory at times. I only say this because I have taken many friends here of different races and colors on many different occasions and I do notice that treatment is different according to who I bring. More unfortunate is that I've also have had friends and friends of friends say the same thing. If it was not for this fact, I would have given it 5 stars. And one more weird, but funny story. Took my niece here once a few years back and she ended up sick and throwing up everywhere...literally the whole entire booth and surrounding area. Not one employee offered to help me clean the mess. I asked if they had any disinfectant sprays or sanitizing water and they did not. That sort of blew my mind. I've worked in similar industry before and it was a must to have at least one or the other...anyways, I got it cleaned and that was that, and continued to come when in town because like I said...the ice cream is really very good. read more

Went here on Saturday night for a "date" with my SO. Just wanted to get some ice cream and enjoy some time away from the house. I ordered a banana split.... and they forgot the bananas?!?! How do you forget the key ingredient?! They quickly apologized and cut up some bananas... but he used he bare hands to put the fruit onto the ice cream... is that even allowed in the food industry? This is prime ice cream. The spot in Modesto for ice cream. There are so many different options, as well as seasonal flavors. The food is actually pretty good too, but could use some work. This isn't what it is known for however, so they are forgiven. I have to recommend that everyone go here with a big group and order the La Palooza, it's something like 10 pounds of ice cream with all different flavors that is an experience everyone should enjoy. read more

Worst restaurant experience!!! Where do I start. It took forever, really foreeeever for someone to care to notice us to take our drink and food order. Glad we were not dehydrated because our water/tea/sodas took quite awhile to arrive. Meanwhile new customers came in were helped right away and even getting their food BEFORE our drinks arrived, including a coworker-boom....proof. So eventually the kid gets his sandwich. Ok, my other food partner gets his sandwich. Hmmmmm, me and my other food partner are wondering if they forgot about us....when the chick comes back we ask about our food and let her know one of the sandwiches are totally wrong. She said, "oh well he took 2bites so he ate it already" I was about to say a lil something but my friend said ya I did eat a bite or two but I was hungry. This is about 1hour from when we walked into the place. My soup arrived, it was just awful-more later. My friends sandwich arrived, she mentioned to the chick that she and our friend ordered soup too she said, "i will check"...omg! Me, honestly it was the first item I got, I was starving so I ate most of it. Wish I did not because lets just say my stomach was not happy at all. My friend also had gastric issues. DO NOT eat here if you see a tiny blonde waitress and 3 high school dudes all wearing glasses. My party and several other parties waited an hour and received horrible service. It took them 30 minutes to take our order. And even then I had to flail my arm in the air to get their attention. We waited half an hour after ordering 1 sandwich and 1 salad all the while hearing other tables complain about the wait. The place was barely half full. Ice cream made right inside their location. Tried many flavors all were exceptional. Ordered the cake batter which I soon found out was extremely dense and rich. So filling I couldn't finish it. I can go through two scoops of baskin robins ice cream no problem. Anyways the cake batter is a keeper even when it melted it was the consistency of actual cake batter. Mom got the raspberry cheesecake she raved about that. Hers was creamy and rich with the subtle flavors. My daughter deviated from myself and siblings and opted for peppermint. Flavor was perfect. According to some longtime residents, this place has been bringing good eats and treats since 1979. Coming in I definitely felt the kid-friendly vibe and that's good because I'm a kid at heart. I met my friend here for dinner only because I had noticed it when I used to workout at the nearby Planet Fitness (fitting right?). I looked over the menu quickly and was drawn exactly to what I wanted, Double Decker Grilled Cheese Sandwich (full order). It's a delectable buttery gooey sandwich with apple slices and a pickle spear on the side. The sandwich literally melted in my mouth while bringing a flood of great childhood memories. I should've been done after that but I decided to up the ante with one of their signature sundaes. They have an array of pre-imagined creams but I zero'd in on their Junior Mint Mountain Sundae because had I ordered a regular I would have to go to the Emergency Room! The Mint Mountain consists of peppermint ice cream, chocolate syrup, whipped cream, almonds & a cherry! I'm a fresh and minty guy by nature so this sundae and I were meant for each other. We stopped here because of a Groupon. I was surprised it was open on Sunday and even more surprised that it filled up by 1p! My mom and I shared a Pink Lemonade Freeze but you couldn't taste anything but ice cream. Once seated, we have had to wait for menus, to have our order taken, to get our drinks refilled, etc. I will say, the place is almost always packed, and the servers are usually young teenagers, so they're probably lacking experience on how to be as efficient as possible. That being said, what the service lacks in efficiency, they make up for with friendliness. Great personalities, and very smiley :) The FOOD at ICC is great!! I literally have yet to find a better French Dip sandwich in Modesto! Shocking for a place named after ice cream, but it's true. The ice cream? Fugettabout it!! It's awesome!!! I love the Butterfingers & Cream flavor and also the Swiss Orange Chip...OMG you can't get that just everywhere... The food is amazing! I decided to write the review right now because I'm really craving some of the delicious ice cream. The flavors are SO good. No skimping on the candy on the flavors with pieces! Hurray! Corey, Bonnie, Sherah, and James are the fabulous owners, and it's not altogether hard to get to know them! The staff is super friendly, if forgetful every so often. There is not one entree menu item that I've tasted that wasn't delicious! I recommend letting Bonnie recommend something! Super disappointed in the changes at the Ice Cream Co. I realize that they've gone non-profit and are now a work training environment, but to reduce the quality of their business model so much is disappointing. We miss the great sandwiches, soups and burgers! You used to employee great kids from the local area, but Sunday it felt like there was one person in charge of work- training four others and no one cared or was happy to be there. Here are some changes that would help... Signage that directs you to order at the counter. We sat a table forever and were never acknowledged and had no idea that a server would not be coming. Concise signage that lets people know what is going on here. Remove Grill from the name all together. Go back to using real serve-ware, not just paper. You already have them and how do you train anyone to work in a restaurant if they don't have dishwashing experience? Bring back your soup and sandwiches! I understand a reduced menu, but ice cream only is a MAJOR cut and it only trains your trainees to work in an ice cream shop environment, (pretty limited). Also, please put bubblegum in your bubblegum ice cream. What a disappointment. read more

My family and I come here all the time....today's visit will be our last. Extremely disappointed with today's visit. The waitress with the French braid and little nose ring was rude and talked down to one of the other employees for doing something wrong. All she had to do was talk to him in the back or pull him to the side and let him know he didn't do something right.
