Milkshake Monday sign on Hwy 99
    Anjanette S.

$25 for the Monday milkshake special, two hamburgers, a small soda, & small fries. Not bad for lunch & it's made fresh. It's a Gridley icon. The seating outside is picnic tables that have seen better days in the back & concrete old school tables in the front with umbrellas for shade. (think classic old time Taco Bell). Right off Hwy 99, Easy in and out access.

    Menu

This is a good place to get burgers. It took quite a while to get our order but worth the wait. I wouldn't recommend ordering the chili cheese fries or poppers. They aren't worth the price. The chili cheese fries were drowned in chili which would have been good, if the chili wasn't so bad. Poppers were good but not worth the price.

Old school except the "shake" is flavored soft ice cream. It's better than fast food but marginally. The customer service is lackluster.

This place is a Gridley staple. Always a great place to grab a burger. The sides of fries are huge. Many milkshakes to choose from.

There was no salt or pepper on the meat making it bland. The caramelized onions were flavorless. The only flavor was the marbled rye bread with thousand island dressing. Hot chocolate and iced tea were the drinks. They had to go across the street to get the hot chocolate at their coffee house. Overall, this is a good place to eat. It has a nice patio out back too. The host told us they didn't have any roses but came out with a little bouquet! For the dinner part, we were expecting a little more. The complimentary cornbread wasn't great in our opinions, but I'm sure others may like it. It's clearly homemade and comes with 3 different butters to put on top. We ordered the Salmon and Smashburger and they were both definitely over priced for what it tasted like. The salmon didn't have a lot of seasoning so it sort of tasted like something we'd give our cat. The sweet potato's on that dish were also not the best. The smashburger, in my opinion, would've tasted better if I got it from In N Out across the street. The entire burger just tasted like meat..no seasoning and there was maybe a drop of their aioli on the burger so all in all it just wasn't the best. I would've had a better experience at In N Out. We also ordered the Wagyu meatballs and never received them. We thought it was taking a minute to cook but all we got instead was the check..he didn't even ask us if we wanted dessert. We had wanted to check out their dessert menu and possibly get their strawberry shortcake but I guess that wasn't in the cards for us. We also ordered a cocktail and mocktail. My wife's mocktail (Kava Mule) was great! My cocktail (Horchata Mai Tai) was genuinely the strongest drink I've ever had. The flavor was nice if you could get past the amount of Bacardi they poured in there. Every drink I took felt like I was taking a shot. So with all that being said, unfortunately we won't be returning to Rancher's Daughter. Between the bland and expensive food, the forgotten about meatballs, the check rushed to our table, and the drinks..it's just the not the place for us.

We really had high hopes but were let down. We shared the complimentary corn bread, the arancini, and the hummus crudite. I had the turkey Thanksgiving dinner plate and my husband had the tri tip Thanksgiving plate. The starters were okay - cornbread was a very light texture and the butters that came with it weren't that good. The arancini was fine, just nothing too special but didn't come out very hot. The hummus didn't taste like much and came with a ton of bell peppers, Kalamata olives, artichoke hearts, and some pita. The turkey dinner was not good. The mashed potatoes and the turkey were okay. The root vegetable medley was not good and the stuffing was terrible, it was so mushy and weird. The gravy on the mashed potatoes already had a film over it like it had been sitting out for a while and was not hot at all. I also got an espresso martini that was not good. My husband got the horchata Mai tai - he liked it. My husband said the tri tip was okay but overall the plate was disappointing. They also mentioned on the phone that they would give us a complimentary dessert for my husband's birthday but never brought anything out. Trying to give them the benefit of the doubt that it was a busy night and might give them another chance with their regular menu entrees but I don't have high hopes.

After being sat, we received water and bread fairly quickly, but service went downhill from there. It took another 5-10 minutes for our server to check in, and when she did, we asked for a little more time. She returned about 5 minutes later and took our order, which included an appetizer and salads. From that point on, the wait times became excessive. Our appetizer didn't arrive for at least 30 minutes, and the salads took even longer. By the time we finally received them, we had already been there for about an hour. To make matters worse, a table seated after us received their food well before we did, finished their meals, and even ordered dessert while we were still waiting. At that point, we decided to just have our food boxed up to go. When we got home, the food itself was also disappointing. My lasagna was dry--which shouldn't be the case--and my boyfriend's dish was overly salty. Overall, the service and food quality did not meet expectations, especially for a special occasion. Unfortunately, we won't be returning.

Unfortunately, when I arrived they hadn't received my order, and after waiting about 15 minutes I decided to leave. Tired and hungry, I drove back through town looking for somewhere else to eat. I didn't want fast food I was hoping for something that felt a little more like a home-cooked meal. That's when I pulled into Bigfoot Eats around 9:30 PM, knowing they closed at 10. I figured I'd just order a simple appetizer sampler so I wouldn't be a hassle so close to closing time. A little while later the staff came to my table to let me know the chef hadn't seen my order and the fryers had already been turned off. At that point I felt like I had struck out twice in one night. But what happened next completely changed my evening. The waitresses insisted that I pick anything else on the menu and told me they would take care of my meal free of charge. I didn't want to be that customer holding them up when they were trying to close, but they genuinely insisted that they wanted to make sure I got dinner that night. They brought out a great meal, loaded me up with food, and I even had leftovers to take home. What started as a frustrating night turned into a really positive experience because of the kindness and hospitality of the staff. I left as a very happy and grateful customer. Bigfoot Eats truly turned my night around, and I will absolutely be returning.

I really hate to write this review because there is so much good and done right at this restaurant…read more Their recipes are great, just poorly executed by incompetent cooks. After a disastrous Friday night out to try and enjoy their "Prime Rib Dinner", which failed in every respect from food to service...I made the mistake of getting food delivered from them on a Friday night. I think they need to fire that head chef. After a local woman raved about their crispy chicken salad on FB I made a plan to order one delivered tonight and paired it with the potato skins. Now I'm not sure which night it was, but I had ordered the appetite sampler and side salad (I think last week). That was one of the best side salads I've ever had and made a mental note to get a salad from there next time. The sampler was OK. I do remember the chicken strips being good and loved the fresh potato skins. Unfortunately, the pickles and other items were not so great soggy and over salted. Fast forward to tonight their six piece potato skin appetizer came with four huge potato skins. Unfortunately, they'd been double fried too crispy and slightly burnt. Tonight's order had very little cheese, probably sat in their window too long before the driver even picked it. So the flavor just wasn't there. What was most disappointing was the salad. Gone was the crunchy green lettuce and mixed spring greens. It was replaced with a moderate amount of wilted Romaine (?) lettuce topped with flavorless over fried small chunks of fried chicken. They should've been served as complete chicken strips sliced. Instead, I got hard flavorless chunks. The tomatoes, hard boiled egg (1), blue cheese crumbles were OK. The bacon was unremarkable. An $18 entrée salad should not fit into a medium sized to go container. They should've stacked all of the cold greens, tomatoes, eggs etc., in the one and put the warmer items into a small container to be combined at home. This is a pretty basic salad, but they managed to mess it up. I also asked for extra sour cream and ranch which was ignored. I think I will stick to breakfast items and only during the week early in the day when I can count on items being prepared fresh to order. I know you can do better Bigfoot with a skilled expediter and better quality control & consistency.
