Fresh fish but inconsistent execution Atmosphere: This restaurant is very nicely decorated with a traditional wood motif/palette and everything looked clean. Although there were only a couple of pairs of diners when service began, we were served by two different sushi chefs which was a bit odd, especially as he prepared everything on the side and had to bring it to us even though chef Hiroki was right in front of us. The space felt a bit tight as everyone was seated next to each other around the counter, and we would have appreciated more separations between parties. Food: It was nice that there were a variety of dishes served both before and after the sushi, beginning with a nice shirako tofu that tasted creamy and was enriched by the deep bonito broth, The surf clam had a good chew to it, and both the yellowtail and black cod were prepared well and provided a nice contrast with delicate flavours so you could taste the fish and the texture. In terms of the sushi courses, it definitely seemed that our pieces were a bit smaller and not as consistently formed as chef Hiroki, especially for the uni, toro, and geoduck pieces and it was quite noticeable especially as chef Hiroki prepared everything in front of us for the pair dining next to us. The rice was seasoned well and you could taste each grain, and the fish was all very fresh. The nori for the temaki also had a nice crispiness. Finishing the dinner off with a soba and matcha ice cream was also a nice touch, and you got a good variety of both fish and techniques used (from smoked fish appetizers, to tofu and ice cream. Service: The staff were very friendly and professional, letting us know what we were eating as they served each dish/course. Our chef spoke English quite well, but we could tell chef Hiroki has more limited English capabilities as the diners next to us had more difficulty communicating with him. Clean flavours highlighted the quality of the seafood, if only service was more consistent across the chefs

I want to gatekeep this place so bad. $135 for great omakase in this economy? Steal. I have sampled the different omakase spots that have opened up in recent years in Markham and Scarborough. Never felt like reviewing any of them because they weren't anything to write home about. And while I am sad Asian Legend is gone, I am very happy this is here now. Their uni, otoro and akami all passed the taste test. Personally, I am a big fan of white fish at omakase and find it's often overlooked for the heavy hitters (otoro, uni, etc). But I was happy that the ones here were delicious especially the shima aji which is one of my favourites. Appetizers were good too. I always love tilefish and when they deep fry the scales into the pretty pattern. What I also liked is that their add-ons were an interesting selection. The interior is a typical high end omakase place. But not stuffy and it's a more casual atmosphere. Staff were nice and prompt.

This location was in the same place as Sushi Gin. They had a soft opening on Feb 18 as per Manager (I have the worst memory and forgot his name but he was phenomenal). You'll have to make a reservation in order to get a spot on the weekend or else they won't have a spot for you. It's just like an original omakase seating around the chef area with good music. The fish here was really good and very fresh. I was happy with every bite. I ordered the extra Budo Ebi which was a nice taste and big Ebi similar to amaebi, cost was $26 per piece. I think next time I would skip just this one and try something else. I also added in the wagyu suki-shabu with sesame tofu which was really delicious. Our sushi chef was Hiroki who was just so kind and gentle with each introduction of the sushi pieces. I felt like I was in Japan with each presentation. Also Olivia was here too who worked in Sushi Gin. She recognized me and she hooked me up again with another sake cork as she did before! The manager also gave me another extra one! They really treated us well here and will definitely be back again. PS: There are some tweaks to the menu DAILY depending on what's in season, but pricing is typically $135 / $175 per person.

We had an amazing birthday omakase experience at Ibushi! The price for the omakase is quite reasonable at $135 per person. The offerings were also quite unique, as it was my first time having abalone nigiri. We also opted for a course add on of the wagyu uni nigiri. Service was attentive and prompt (staff opening doors for us, refilling drinks, etc). Ambiance was relaxing and chill.

This place is amazing for omakase at only $135! Quality was top notch and everything was fresh. All dishes were explained in detail before service. Presentation was beautiful too. Love the bright vibe of the restaurant and it was very clean and tidy too. Service was very friendly and attentive. Servers can speak English, Cantonese, and Mandarin.

We came back after 2 weeks. Glad to see that most of the fishes are different from last time and they now have add-on on the menu. I like the goldeneye snapper's crispy skin, the karasumi on top of the baby shrimp and my favourite shime saba. The cheese tofu is still the best. We ordered matcha umeshu on the rock to go with the ice cream. It goes well with the dessert, but we cannot taste the truffle flavour , not sure if it's because of the matcha Their beverage menu has a good selection for both alcoholic and non-alcoholic customers. The sparkling jasmine tea is a surprise. Thanks Yutaka's introduction on this brand., would love to try the Copenhagen green tea next time. Grand opening is on Feb 15, hope you can grab a chance to try before that

When you get the regular Wagyu menu you get American or Australian Wagyu. You can specify Australian which we think is better. Seemed like our server agrees as well Selection is still solid. The foie gras is an interesting touch. The chicken wings still great. Discovered that the fried buns which is more of a dessert was listed in appetizers. They were good.

All of their meats were fresh, well tempered (not stale/straight out of the freezer). Condiment bar was self serve and had a wide selection to customize your sauce. Their veggies were also very fresh & the appetizers such as wings & the squid ink dumpling were AMAZING. Soft drinks are also included in the Premium AYCE price at $45/pp after tax. All of their waitstaff we interacted with were kind, patient, attentive, and helpful. Their seating layout is also notable-- each individual table was enclosed, it gave a more cozy/private feel rather than loud & overstimulating despite dining during peak hour. If I could critique even just one thing, it'd be the dessert options, almond pudding and ice jelly were a bit disappointing to end the meal with cuz they weren't great in our opinion, but not problematic enough for me to dock a star. Next time I'm craving hotpot, Daimaru will absolutely be at the top of my choice list moving forward!

Back again and incredible again…read more Small tip. You don't need to order on only one phone. As long as you scan the bar code, you can order from any phone. Enter either you own info if paying separately or the same info if one person pays all of it. Lots of new dishes as well as old favourites: Chochin: Tried it. Not a fan. Tastes exactly the way I thought it would. Which is internal organ like but in an unpleasant creamy way. Duck liver raspberry toast: Nice but could be bigger. The raspberry brought an expected nice sweetness to the nice liver taste. A little more raspberry would be nice. Tuskune and egg yolk dip: It's ok but not that big a deal. Cheese momo: Fantastic. The swiss cheese is an excellent pairing to the chicken. Skin-Kawa - Delciious. Crispy. Must have, Hiza (knee cartidlidge): nice and crunchy Beef short rubs boneless: Was enticed due to the tendon part. It was nice but not incredible. Beef tenderloin + Chimichurri: Wife's favourite. We always order several of these. P-toro: Another must repeat. Great pork belly taste. Cherry tomato bacon maki: New and delightful. Bacon wrapped cherry tomatoes provide a delightful burst of tomatoey sweetness wrapped with the unctuousness of bacon. Lamb rib chop: Excellent and tasty. Once again everything was cooked perfectly and the amazing binchotan smoke made everything delicious. Fun fact, they put charcoal in the free water carafes as well.

Sumoki Yakitori offers tasty Japanese-style skewers and small plates. The grilled items are cooked just right--smoky, juicy, and full of flavour. There's a good variety to choose from; chicken, beef and vegetables. We ordered "Age Mochi", "Chicken Oyster", "Momo", "Negima", "Tsukune + Egg Yolk Dip", "Cheese Momo", Hiza (Knee Cartilage)", Beef Tongue", "Beef Tenderloin + Chimichurri", "Garlic Sprout Maki", "Mentaiko Carbonara Udon", "Yaki-Onigiri (2 pcs)", and "Breast w/ Wasabi". Every skewer was fresh and tasty. My favourite was Beef Tenderloin with Chimichurri. We paired our meal with beautiful drinks that hit the spot: "Yamayuzu Matcha" and "Fairy Yuzu". To finish on a sweet note, we ordered "Grilled Mochi (Sweet)" and "Dango", which we enjoyed.

There are only about 4 to 5 spots in the front, and while there are some smaller plaza parking lots nearby and another parking lot across the street, most of the spots are marked for whatever store they're in front of, so park at your own risk. Upon entering, there aren't that many tables either. There isn't a lot of room for bigger groups but they can merge some of the tables together. The biggest issue for us was definitely how long and uneven the wait for the food was. We ordered at 12:15 PM and got our salads about 10 minutes later, but after that, the food came out pretty sporadically. The first actual dish didn't come until 12:44 PM, which was the tempura from the two-person set. Parts of the other meals and the rest of the two-person set slowly came out between 12:46 and 12:49 PM. The 30-piece sashimi and sushi set didn't arrive until 1:04 PM, almost 50 minutes after we ordered, and the actual salmon teriyaki which was just a small salad, salmon teriyaki and steamed rice from the bento was the last thing to come out at 1:09 PM, about 54 minutes after ordering. By that point, we had already finished the entire two-person set and another person had finished their udon and sushi combo. It's just not ideal when you're eating with a group and some people haven't even gotten the main part of their meal while everyone else is already finished. It also didn't seem like it was only our table. The table in front of us had a pasta order that seemed to have been missed. We heard the server say it was about to be ready, and then heard someone from the kitchen respond with something along the lines of, "There's another order for it?" So I do think the timing and communication between the kitchen and servers is something they need to improve on. We were served our salads first, but didn't get our miso soups until we asked for them. They were planning to serve them with the meals, but since we had already been waiting so long, we ended up just asking if we could have them first. For food, I got the two-person lunch set for $52, which came with a large veggie udon, 9 pieces of sashimi, 6 pieces of sushi, an additional 6 pieces of a classic roll, and tempura. We chose the spicy scallop maki for our roll. The sushi and sashimi were good, and the tempura was good as well. The veggie udon was a little disappointing though. It had one bok choy, a few pieces of mushroom, and then was mostly just strands of onion. The spicy scallop maki was also just okay since I couldn't really taste much scallop. Price-wise, I do think it's a little on the higher side for what you get. The quality was good overall, but for the price I would've liked a little more, especially considering the wait. Between how difficult parking is and how long and unevenly the food came out, I'm not really in any hurry to return. I think the wait bothered me more because we were eating as a group, and by the time two people finally got their food, the rest of us were completely finished. If they can improve the timing of getting everyone's meals out somewhat together, it would make the experience a lot better. 5% off with cash.
