I met up with a few friends for a late afternoon lunch. It has been a couple of years since we were here and were happy to learn that their menu, service and decor are still as good as our last visit. Our waiter Caesar was attentive and friendly. Our food choices were delicious and the ambiance was relaxed. A great choice for Spanish cuisine.

I stopped in to have dinner last night at this place, and I was pleasantly surprised by everything that I experienced from the staff, to the atmosphere, to the actual plates of artwork that came out! My wine selection was even something that I hadn't tried before. I just fell in love with. The staff had made some recommendations for a citrus wine off of a very nice selection of white wines they had, they have three large menus to choose from when it comes to their food selections, there alcohol menu, and then they have a specials menu. I ordered one of the specials, the shrimp and fettuccine noodle with veggies - outstanding!! Huge portions and so flavorful! And I ended my night with a coconut dessert that was just sinful! All three recommendations came from the staff and they were all five star winner selections. The restaurant is moderately priced as well and had all three of my selections (wine, main entree & dessert) for around $60. Highly recommend

Ibiza recently started offering brunch, so we stopped by to check out their new menu! There was a nice variety of both American and Latin dishes to choose from. Everything was delicious! Great mimosas, eggs, steak dishes, and authentic Colombian and Costa Rican choices as well. We were even impressed by their chocolate mousse and coconut passionfruit ice cream for dessert. The restaurant was bright and inviting, with friendly staff too. What a great spot in Hamden! We'll have to come back and try their tapas sometime.

I came here for lunch yesterday, the Friday of Hamden's Restaurant Week. Never been but thought, for $20 and three courses how could I go wrong. I couldn't!!! This place is amazing! First off, it's not a "sampler plate" they give you, these are full blown entree sized portions! I sat outside and was the only one there. The music wafted from the dining room and created a great atmosphere. I had the burrata, the ahi tuna, and the blueberry panna cotta. Don't know if salt and pepper is on the tables inside, but it wasn't on the patio, and for good reason. You don't need it!! Everything was perfectly seasoned! I was so impressed that I brought my husband for lunch today! Yep, two days in a row! Today, I ordered a passion fruit sangria which was light and flavorful with fresh oranges and apples. For the first course, my husband had the burrata, as I told him it was stupid good, and I got the mussels in salsa brava, then we both got the marinated pork loin. The mashed sweet potatoes were so light and fluffy and the port reduction with the figs cut into the richness of the pork. He took his rice pudding home so we split my passion fruit mousse. It was superb! Since we each just finished 1/2 of our entrees, we also ordered the marinated anchovies, the chorizo español, Arroz con pollo, and almond cake to go, for dinner, and figured we split a "combo platter" tonight. Well, we ate the anchovies-which were not salty at all, but beautifully marinaded-and the rest of the pork for dinner, so will leave the other items for lunch tomorrow. The leisurely pace of the meal was just what we wanted. A good hour for lunch, with just the right amount of time in between courses. This isn't fast food, it's to be relished and enjoyed. A true dining experience. Please support this establishment. They offer a fixed price lunch menu each day, and I wish I didn't know that as I think this is my new "go to" place. Happy hour has them discounting the tapas to just $8.50 each. A bargain if you bring a group and order one of each to split. They do a wonderful job! Kudos!!

Fantastic meal all around. Nice small place. Seated at the bar and totally enjoyed the atmosphere, the setting, the food and drinks. My Cosmopolitan was perfect. My salmon dish was very tasty and my companion said the scallops were very fresh. Next time we said we will try the tapas.

My daughter and I came to Ibiza for Mother's Day lunch ... it was pouring rain outside and we ran inside to get out of the rain. The restaurant was completely empty except for one couple sitting in the back. The hostess greeted us and asked" Do you have a reservation? " we did not .. she then said let me check if we are able to take you .. Seriously ? There was no one in your establishment!! We waited a moment and LEFT.

We used to go to Ibiza regularly when I worked nearby a few years ago. I was thrilled to find that everything is just as wonderful as I remembered - and the restaurant is twice as good!! We started off with the shrimp soup. It was like a chowder and very tasty! The burrata was super creamy and served atop roasted vegetables. We really enjoyed the artichokes served over arugula with vegetables. Shrimp puree with large shrimp and chips was a wonderful surprise. Our server was great. I can't wait to go back to Ibiza!!

I came here on a Wednesday night during dinner hours and it was pretty empty. We got a seat right away without a reservation. The server was attentive and filled our waters right away when we needed ig. Food 3/5: We ordered the Paella Vallencia, Ceviche, Gambas al Ajillo, and a Pear dessert. When we ordered the Paella, the server confirmed for us for two servings. We didn't know two servings means a huge order which could feed 4. It was good, had good flavors and the meat wasn't over cooked. The Ceviche was ok, needed a little more salt and more lime. The Shrimp didn't really look appetizing because bathing in garlic butter sauce, the shrimp was also over cooked. Overall, the food was decent.

2 stars because I have no intention of going back. The food itself was ok at best , not bad, but not worth the money and after trying all their "most popular" (waitress's words) there is nothing to go back for. Everything is small, very small. I know it's tapas but if you go to a Crave or even an Ola you get much larger portions. Also, the food just lacked flavor- where was the salt? I ordered a salt baked sea bass and there is no way any salt was used in the preparation of that dish. All very muted flavors and soggy sea bass skin. Paella for $30 was again super small, barely any meat. Not sure how anyone can charge $30 for that dish. We also got 4 other tapas- again all just lacking any sort of flavor, on stale toast, etc except for the chorizo croquettes. They were good but 3 tiny balls for $10 bucks is just not my thing. I wish I took more pictures but we were starving and inhaled everything very quickly despite the lack of flavor. Put it this way- we stopped at Taco Bell on the way home because my boyfriend was still hungry. Waitresses were really nice- can't complain about that at all. Again food wasn't terrible but paying a lot of money I want flavor!

In a display of restaurant solidarity , they recommended that we try Vinas Wine & Tapas. As it turned out, we have a NEW favorite in New Haven! We arrived a bit early and were cheerfully greeted by Mike G, our server. The atmosphere was welcoming and relatively quiet, since their musical offering does not start as early as our 5:00-7:00 PM time slot on a Tuesday. We had asked for the waiter Christian because he had been mentioned in several of the Yelp reviews, but Mike proved that the service compliments should go to everyone. First, the tapas: We enjoyed all five of the tapas we chose. The "Calamares" were lightly battered and crispy. The Vinas salad was fresh, with tomatoes, cheese, corn, and croutons. The pork belly was delicious and more meaty than expected . The oyster mushrooms were presented with onion crisps. The baked birria empanada was stuffed with brisket style beef. Each of these "courses" was a unique delight to the palate, and for me and my partner, it was completely satisfying. In keeping with the spirit of a "wine bar," Vinas offered a flight of 4 wines in 3 ounce glasses, and after hearing about our food choices and wine preferences, Mike chose the wines for us, giving us a chance to taste some less familiar offerings. We had the Felino Malbec 2024 (Argentina), which became our favorite for its full-bodied and deep flavor. Our second wine was a unique Don Abel (private label) from Wallingford CT, made by one of the relatives of the owner, specially for Vinas. This one reminded us of the local wines one might receive in a B&B in the Loire Valley in France. The final two wines were both from Chile: Reserva Carmenere 2023 and Cabernet Sauvignon Marques de Casa Concha 2022. Both were excellent wines. It was great fun to have Mike choose the wines for us, and we really enjoyed the variety that the flight offerings gave to us. Of course, we had to try a dessert, and Mike recommended the Toffee Cake. We had heard that the owner claimed that some people cried with joy after eating it. Although we restrained ourselves, we had to agree that this was an extraordinary conclusion to a fabulous meal. Overall, this was a great experience for us, and we heartily recommend Vinas Wine Bar and Tapas for a relaxing and welcoming dinner. Some reviews I had read suggested that the portions were too small for the price. I have to disagree. My partner and I love food, and this was plenty. And the price was reasonable. Including tip and tax, we spent about $75 each.

The ceviche was excellent, everything was cooked throughout by the citrus. The portion size is small for $19 and it could have used a side of bread or tortillas to soak up the delicious citrus based broth. The skewers were also excellent. They were cooked perfectly, super tender, juicy and flavorful. They cooked them with a seasoning and had a delicious chimi on top.

My friend and I started with a glass of wine, and the service in the beginning was good. However things quickly went downhill. This library proves you can't judge a book by its cover. We ordered the calamari appetizer. When it arrived, I opened my silverware from the napkin and discovered that my fork was filthy-- a giant glob of white, crusty food, the size of a dime, was still stuck between the prongs. I waited for my waitress to check in (she didn't deliver the food) but she never came. We tried to get the attention of another waitress and were ignored. After 10 minutes, with my calamari growing cold, I eventually walked to the bar to get a replacement. The bartended exclaimed, "Gross!" -- my sentiments exactly-- when I showed him the fork. By the time I actually sat down to eat, the calamari was cold. It was also super tough and chewy. There were hardly any peppers. We didn't eat much of it. I love French food, and I ordered the duck for dinner. I ordered it medium. When it arrived, it was cooked well done- perhaps in an oven rather than seared. I say this because the skin was not crispy and the fat had not rendered, so the skin/fat remained thick, chewy and inedible. Usually the crispy skin is the best part of duck, so I was disappointed. I had to cut off the skin and thick layer of fat to make it edible. It tasted quite gamey and there was no pink center. It came sliced into thirds, so they knew it was overcooked when they served it to me. I only ate a small portion. The rest of my dish (which came out looking stunning by the way) was also a big disappointment. Although it looked beautiful at first glance, I discovered the delicata squash still had the rough, inedible skin attached. The cherry sauce was heavy-handed and drowned my brussel sprouts, sweet potato purée and carrots to the point that all I could taste was the sauce (a thick, sugary glaze). I did my best to eat around it, because my waitress didn't check on us until much later. In fact we were basically done by the time I saw her again. I had given up at that point and left most of my food behind. There was also an issue with where we were seated. We had a small table in front of a window, but completely blocking a much larger table in a narrow corner. There was a family there when we arrived, and each time they got up to use the bathroom, I had someone's body pressed against my chair to squeeze by. A woman's behind actually grazed the back of my head at one point. When the family left, I could feel them brushing my coat off the back of my chair, resulting in them stepping on it. I can't blame them- it was a tight spot and a very awkward place for a table. I was annoyed that the waitstaff (I'm assuming) took the other chairs at my table, making a 4 seat table into a 2 seater, so I had no choice in where to sit. I didn't understand why they did this, because there was a lovely fireplace nearby and I had my back to it all night. Clearly, they weren't thinking about the dining experience from the customer's point of view. Maybe I could have switched tables but finding my waitress was like trying to find Waldo all evening, so it wasn't worth the hassle. Safe to say I won't be back. If you decide to try it out, be sure to get there early as parking is a pain to find at peak dinner hours.
