The price of the haircut was $35 at the time of booking. I unfortunately needed to reschedule and the process for that was semi-easy. Once I arrived at my appointment Miss Rose greeted me warmly, making me feel like family. The shop is cozy, with products for purchase in the middle aisle, hair for styling along the entry wall, with hooded blow dryers and wash bowls toward the back. My appointment was scheduled for 4p and I arrived around 3:50p and my appointment started at 4:10ish. Not too bad a wait. My stylist was Mist. She was professional and informative. I wanted to retain my length but trim off what was dead/split. Mist understood and showed me how much she thought was appropriate before starting. She blew my hair out straighter to assist with accurately pin pointing of what needed to be trimmed and worked efficiently but carefully as she completed my service. My total at the end of my service was $45 minus the $25 deposit. I guess the necessary blow dry was an additional $10. I'm very self conscious and being that she is one of the only esthetician's in poughkeepsie that offers these services, I made an appointment via her service provider vagaro. I was so excited and then come the day of my appointment Ari, calls me to inform me the appointment is canceled due to me not confirming the appointment or filling out some Covid forms. I am vaccinated and was willing to confirm it and come in at a different time. I really wanted this service done and was willing to pay whatever the price. I tried to call back, as I was in a meeting during her call, but she didn't respond. I called twice. I left a message saying I can fill out the forms, wnd I never received an email from Vagaro about confirming the appointment. About an hour later I got a call saying that she got a phone call from "this number", clearly not realizing she had called a potential client. Some sort of emergency in the building was going on it became difficult to hear so we texted, during which I repeated my message to her. She then said the appointment was given away to someone else. I was upset, I was really looking forward to this, and instead of trying to find a time for me to come in before my appointment she didn't even make the effort to try. I informed her I would be writing about this situation and on my Instagram blog, to which she then said she would be using my texts. While this is an invasion of privacy given the content of the texts, I consented because the texts show exactly what I said. Ari then called me and explained her position to me. However, I cannot find any email from vagaro saying that I needed to confirm the appointment, and while I told Ari about this, she clearly believed her system was right and I was lying. She explained to me that her business is her baby, which I understand completely. I am all for a woman owned business, but I do not support unprofessionalism and will not tolerate this. I credit her for calling to explain her situation to me, but again felt she could have tried to find an appointment for me given this was a clear misunderstanding due to her systems part.

As she began to cut my hair i noticed she was going to far in the back but took a deep breath because the back grows fast and i could handle that. as she made her way to the front the began to chop my hair off. she took at least 4-5 inches off of my hair. i began to cry and her response to that was " i wont say im sorry because i know it wont help" as she finished this butcher job she began to style it in a way that simply wouldnt work because it was so badly cut. as i walked to the front they still made me pay and began to chastise me stating that it was a good hair cut. i did not want to embarrass the stylist so while crying hysterically, i paid and left. when i got in my car i called and asked for my money back. they fought with me stating that they didn't think it was a bad hair cut while laughing in the background. i would NEVER expect anyone to go to this salon as they do not care about basic customer service and could care less about your feelings.
