So, since relocating to Newburgh from Manhattan, I've kind of floundered trying to find a massage therapist that could work me over like my former pro in the city. I've been to a few different providers here in Newburgh, and while all were absolutely "good" they didn't nail it. I drove by Amore on the way to a plumbing job (being a licensed Master Plumber is the main reason I require massages) and called them up to book. I had my first appointment with Jason and....I was blown away. He knew exactly how to work my muscles and joints over without the pain associated with deep tissue massage. If I could rate this a zero, I would. My best friend and I visited this spa a few weeks ago and we both received the 100 minute jelly mask facial with foot, hand and scalp treatment. I also got a 90 minute de-stress massage with warm stones and CBD lavender oil and my friend asked for a 90 minute deep tissue massage. We were told the deep tissue massage would be $15 more - no problem! I did my massage first and the gentleman who performed the service was clearly new and not experienced. There were so many things wrong with the massage, but here are a few. There was a rolling chair in the room which he kept rolling around and banging into the table. The face holder was broken and my face was against metal the whole massage. The masseuse recognized this and asked me a few times if I was ok. The hot stones were way too hot. I had red marks all over my back even the next day. He didn't introduce himself! He would say things like "move this", meaning my arm. It was clear he had not been trained. I did not want a deep tissue, I wanted a very relaxing massage with oils and stones. I ended up getting a deep tissue combined with very hot stones and oil. My friend ended up getting the exact same massage. She wanted deep tissue and ended up getting exactly what I got - oils and stones. She paid more for exactly what I got. The facials were terrible. The description said jelly with additional service of scalp, hand and foot massage. That's not what we got at all. Before she even applied the jelly thing to my face she used a zapping machine all over my face. This was not in the description of the facial and I would have never been ok with this. My skin is far too sensitive for this. She used this over my eye brows which are micro bladed - needless to say, I need to get those redone. She then applied the jelly mask all over my face - eyes included! She didn't even warn me this was going over my eye. So you can't open your eyes for 20 minutes! I asked her to remove this immediately from my eye. My skin was very irritated for days after. I originally thought she cut my right eye but that mark is still there and it turns out it is a burn from the zapping machine. My girlfriend has her own, even worse, experience with both the massage and facial but I will let her write her own review. I will say during her massage; the stones were so hot she asked him to stop using them all together. The guy doing the massage didn't feel well. He said it several times during both our massages. He told the lady at the front desk he was going to nap in between our services. The lady should've immediately canceled his massage with my friend once she heard he was sick. This place does not have cash on hand. We paid with cash and were told we couldn't get our change back but that it could be applied to tip. She couldn't even break a $20 so we were forced to give a massive tip for terrible services of greater than 20% because there was no way to get change to us. The facialist was very behind schedule. We were supposed to be out by 4 but didn't get out until 5. We were told this was because she need to set up between facials. My friend paid for a sitter and ended up costing her more because we were so late. It's understandable if she needed this time, but it is their job to set up our appointments around the time they need. Instead; I waited 30 mins for the facialist to see me after my friends facial. At that point, my friend was 30 mins into her massage. She had to wait for me at the end. Again, we get it. But it wasn't what we were told. I reached out to the owner, showed her pictures of both my face and my friends. She immediately called me and apologized. She was very nice on the phone. She offered us both a free 75 minute facial or massage, whichever we prefer. Under the circumstances, we said no. When we asked the person performing the facial which brand of products was being used, she did not know. When I mentioned this to the owner, the owner also did not know. She said they were knew and she couldn't remember the name. Unacceptable. Why would I go back when the owner doesn't even know the name of her products? We both paid over $400 that day between the services and the excessive, forced tip. I asked the owner for $100 back. That's it!!!! She said no. I then sent her pictures of our face to show her our experience and I never heard back. This was 3 weeks ago. $100 is all we were asking. Not a full refund, which I think we were entitled to. $100. This is less than what I have to pay fix my eyebrows. Bad business. I have gotten over 100 facials and massages and this was by far the worst. I had Jason as my massage therapist and he was excellent (to say the least). Not only that but my now, fiancé popped the question there and coordinated the surprise with the staff there. They gave us privacy and made sure that the entire moment was perfect with great lighting, food, light music and just wonderful! I think one of the first rules in massage school is probably not to insult the person who is not only naked in front of you, but whom you're touching... I've worked with many healers across the world and this was one of the most uncomfortable experiences of my life. Not to mention the massage itself was painful (and not in a like oh, that's releasing tension painful.. I've even worked with indigenous bonesetters so I know what good pain feels like). The Hudson Valley needs better healers who can hold a space of HEALING for their clients. Will not return. Will not recommend. But the lady at the front desk was sweet. 2 stars. read more

The Ladies here really know what customer service is all about! They welcome you with a beverage and ask if you have any needs before the service. I received a massage from Maria and it was awesome! You can tell she takes her career seriously. Maria had just the right amount of pressure when I was asked. After my massage I was greeted with water & smiles from both Maria & Kristine the owner. I went to Amore during a bachelorette weekend and cannot speak highly enough of Kristine and her team at Amore. We had a group of 8 women to plan for, and she was amazing from start to finish, taking the time out to walk me through everything, answer all questions and make sure we were set. The day of, we were treated so well, which included of course numerous amazing services. The space itself is cozy, clean and so relaxing. Definitely pay them a visit if you're in the area. read more

I would feel that appropriate apology would have rectify myself to take my review down or change it however. The response that was given on here was far from the truth. Your employee was short with me and interrupting me. I spoke calmly with her never raised my voice she made it clear I was wasting her time. Perhaps I would have purchased a package if she took the time to be understanding also the fact that if I left a voice mail never came up. Clearly to come on here and to fabricate a false narrative to what happen shows you actually don't care what customers perceive you as. Never did I ask to speak to a manager or for free things all I asked was to be treated with respect which clearly in this time you believe that you are to good to retain customers or treat new ones with respect. I did in my previous review claimed that I understood knocking on the door was not allowed however while running a business you should know that if you cannot open the door to let customers come in you need someone to service them via phone. Went to buy a gift certificate nobody answered the phone after 3 calls knocked on the door lady seemed very annoyed I did. I do realize there is a sign saying no knocking but they should have someone to answer the phone. Told me I could not buy a gift certificate due to covid and if I wanted I could book an appointment and pay primarily because of refunds they needed to make on gift certificates last year. To me this does not make sense a gift certificate should be used as an alternative form of currency. If they wanted to solve the problem they should just void expiration dates on their certificates to keep the customers satisfied It's a real shame because I planned on purchasing their deluxe package but evidently they do not want my money. I would recommend any treatment at Amore! Kristine's facials are so relaxing, and pampering. You can tell she really loves what she does! She is so friendly and accommodating to whatever your needs are! Her spa is so cosy, and beautiful. It is very comfortable there and the staff treats you like gold! You can tell the the staff really wants you to have an amazing experience! They aren't rushing you through your treatments. Very client oriented. Jason's massage I melted as soon as he put his hands on me, and that was only the warm up. I've always been a little hesitant for a man to massage me, this was the first time, and trust me...
