I had a very concerning experience at this nail salon and will not be returning…read more During my most recent visit, the technician severely over-buffed my thumbnail, which caused bleeding and bruising under the nail. This is not the first time I've been injured here--previously, I developed a fungal infection in my big toe after a pedicure, which caused my nail to separate. Because of that, I stopped getting pedicures there but continued going for my nails since I liked how they looked. This visit was different. The technician, who mentioned she previously owned a shop in the Bronx, repeatedly ignored my requests not to buff my nails. I explained multiple times that my nails are very thin, but she continued anyway, even when I pulled my hand away. She kept saying "just a little," but it was clearly too much. After the service, I could visibly see blood forming under my nail. Within three days, two of my nails had already fallen off. When another staff member noticed, they had her remove the rest of the set--but even then, she continued to buff my nails again despite me asking her to stop. She claimed she was trying to "lift the blood" from under the nail, which was extremely concerning. A male staff member eventually stepped in, confirmed that my nails had been over-buffed, and redid my full set for free. He was gentle and applied nail hardener, but by then, the damage was already done. Two weeks later, I have now lost half of my thumbnail and have been treating it. This experience was painful, stressful, and completely avoidable. I will not be returning.
