    City-Market-like produce displays
    Susan M.

I love this store since its recent remodel! You get the feeling of an open air city market when you first walk in and see all the fresh produce displays. And the lighting makes everything look wonderful, and works magic on the produce. Other than the sticker shock, it's a pleasure to shop because it's so bright and clean and open, and there are several upscale/gourmet sections, and organic items. I left off one star because it was hard to find help later in the evening on a weeknight, AND the prices went way up...probably to help pay for the remodel! Just one example...I LOVE Hint's fruit flavored still water, but at $1.99/bottle, this is the most expensive I've seen anywhere. If you need a quick gift or just want a nice surprise for someone special, the flowers and gift section right inside the front door has been greatly expanded. They even had gorgeous fresh peonies in several colors, including coral! But again, the prices might "wow" you as much as the gifts!

Where's the beans! For $15 I would expect more beans! The cheese shred is thicker than the beans & sour cream layer! Not worth the money.

Not worth the money!! What happened to the seven-layer dip? They spread the beans like it's butter on bread. The cheese shred is thicker than the bean and sour cream layer combined.

A year ago I would have given this store 3 stars but the new and improved HyVee in Lenexa offers something totally different. It's just beautiful, inviting, and overall provides a unique and pleasant shopping and dining experience. With a wide variety of prepared foods, a gourmet selection in the bakery, a gorgeous dining area, and a built in Starbucks, buying groceries is just one of the options when walking into this store. They're still under a bit of construction it seems, but overall it's complete, and it's worth a trip.

This is my local neighborhood, Hy-Vee! For sure, the complete grocery in the area. It was an older grocery, but they have done a great job with the renovation, where you would never even know the age of the building. Very clean inside with a friendly staff. They have a cafe area for eating, pharmacy, bakery, butcher, floral, and all the common areas a grocer should have. You can't go wrong with Hy-Vee establishments!

The store was nice, and clean. we were greeted by someone who was giving out samples. The sample wasn't bad as we walked to the store it wasn't that crowded. I had a few things on sale they also have some free Pham. Jamie was our cashier who checked the cell and she seem to be a little impatient. I was with a older person checking out and she needs to understand that when you're dealing with customers or the public. You have to have patience.

I wish it was around when I was living in the area. I would definitely be a regular customer! I visited on a quiet Tuesday afternoon, and the store was organized, neat, and easy to navigate, which was a lovely start. I had two main items on my mission: grabbing the Back to Nature Peanut Butter Creme Crackers (a snack I became obsessed with after a trip to New York!) and picking up a specific protein powder for my mom, which was on a great Buy One, Get One 50% Off deal. However, the real highlight was the service, thanks to Dahlia, a head cashier employee who stopped to help us. Dahlia was incredibly kind and went above and beyond. She walked us through the free rewards program, explaining not only how to find coupons but also detailing a huge deal: if you buy $100 or more in health & beauty products (including that protein powder!) within a three-month span, you will be able to get 30% off your next purchase. She explained that the purchases history for this deal resets after the three months are up. She even took the time to offer personalized recommendations, sharing her own experience with thinning and oily hair and suggesting specific shampoo and conditioner products for me to try. After Dahlia helped me with the rewards sign-up, I checked out with a different cashier. This cashier was also super nice; she knew I was setting up the account and proactively made sure I either entered my phone number or had my rewards barcode scanned before I paid, guaranteeing I got my points for that trip. The service didn't end there! I had a $3 off coupon for the protein powder that wouldn't go through due to the store's poor cell service/Wi-Fi connection. Dahlia, without hesitation, simply gave me $3 back in cash to honor the coupon deal--that is truly above and beyond customer service. I highly recommend this location! The product selection is great, and the atmosphere is pleasant, but the staff--especially Dahlia--is what makes this store shine.

I have been trying to figure out which grocery store had those fruit shaped cakes. I walked into World Fresh Market. The front of the produce reminded me of City Market. Beyond the produce, not a regular store. This grocery store has the prettiest cakes I've ever seen. There's flan larger than a regular cake. There's bags of iced cookies. Breads of all types. Oh, they also have tacos plus a Mexican restaurant attached. The bakery winds around to the middle of the store. Those fruit shaped cakes? Right there. So cute and looking yummy. I can't say enough about the bakery. I bought little fruit shaped watermelon fruit cakes. I also bought pistachio filled croissants. This is absolutely my favorite store. I'll be back cause I'm in this area often. But seriously, stop by the bakery and get a mousse cake if you want to be the favorite at a potluck.

I ordered a falafel…read morebowl, and thought I'd get the same great service where they let me select what I want in my bowl. Unfortunately that's not what happened and I was too hungry to say anything. I had the falafel bowl. The dude just piled up whatever was in the bins & threw them in the bowl with some kind of awkward semi organized manner, while *completely* ignoring the hummus and the garlic sauce. I swore he put the hummus in first, but at the end I asked him if there was Hummus in my falafel bowl- and the answer was no. As in NO HUMMUS IN A FALAFEL BOWL. I also wanted garlic sauce and he refused to put it into MY food only on the side like some kind of lame afterthought for the flavor impaired. My buddy got the shawarma wrap, which looked more like a taquito. They put french fries in the shawarma wrap, along with a little bit of shawarma- and not much else. The advertise price was $9.99 but when we got to the register the price became $11.99. when we brought it to their attention that his shawarma wrap was not actually what they charged us - which they called a "viral ribeye shawarma" they try to tell us the extra $2 was for the nine french fries they added to the package. I GET that were in Kansas, and there's not too many folks that even know what a falafel or shawarma is- but these guys who spoke the language of these regions so they certainly do, or I guess I should say- they used to know what it was. I am quite disappointed by what they've become, I hope they understand this- but I probably won't find myself willing to give it another shot for a while.

The store is immaculately clean and even though the parking lot looked fuller, it didn't seem busy inside. Most of the shoppers were elderly people. The carts are nice and ergonomic it seems. There was a woman collecting carts from the outside and continually bringing them inside. It seemed darker in this store compared to Walmart and HyVee but everything was very neat and the produce section looked very fresh and neatly displayed. The beef section was more limited and I feel like the butcher would continually bring out a new product as people purchased some. That was what I was there to primarily buy. The rest of animal protein was displayed like other stores. The aisles were wide and neatly organized. They don't have as much selection as Walmart (food) or HyVee but it's a nice neighborhood store. I only saw the butcher, deli worker, shop cart attendant and a woman working the self serve area though. The parking lot is kind of a negative because it's shared with many other businesses in a strip mall so it's hectic.

Every Wednesday they run a special for 5.55 rolls. Back a couple of years ago, the cashier there told me the lady who makes their sushi has been doing so for years - even turning down opportunities to start her own restaurant. She's super friendly and very accommodating to requests. The sushi rice is perfectly cooked and the flavor is always on point for me. Extremely consistent as well and I believe on par with other sushi restaurants. For a little over 5 bucks, I'm always satisfied.

I wound up here hunting for Keto friendly meal bars. The price for the good ones is $3 higher than our grocery near home, which...you know...hard to swallow so to speak. So, failing in my hunting, I wandered over to the salad bar, and decided to make a lunch and take it back with me to the office. After finding enough fresh yummy goodies to fill a plastic box, I was expecting a tasty but pricy weigh-in at the counter. (They weigh the salad, not the shopper, in case you were worried). "Do you have a Hen House Card?" "Sure do, although It's probably from years ago... well ok, that worked..." "The salad bar is still on sale, so here you go." Boom. I got out of there for $6 for a similar salad I put together at JCCC for $9 the other day. With the money saved, I could get those keto bars! Except no. I'll really get them next time we do our shopping for home. But still! What a deal! I'm happy. I'm full. I have change in my pocket. There were next to no carbs in my salad choices, so I bet I can eat an entire cookie cake when I get home! Except not, but I can dream a little. Maybe if the cookie cake is $3 off and they forgot to put in the sugar...and the flour...and anything that's good and tasty.... What was I talking about? Like the salad bar! Good and tasty and affordable!
