Terrible return policy! I went to return spoiled organic celery obviously purchased at Hyvee because of the packaging. Because of colored labeling, I was not able to see its condition before purchasing it two days earlier. I did not have the receipt so the clerk stated it was not exchangable even though I am at their store at least twice a week and spend hundreds of dollars there on an annual basis. First time at a Hy-Vee I don't live in Mid-West, but I am staying in Olathe for almost two months for work. That being said, I needed supplies and groceries to support me for that extended period of time. My hotel is very near Target, and yeah I've been there once, but I can shop at a Target in Georgia all-day-every-day. Now comes the part why I chose Hy-Vee over the grocery stores in the area: IndyCar. I am a huge IndyCar fan, and the fact that Hy-Vee supports IndyCar is very important to me, to the point where I purposely wanted to see if Hy-Vee did anything beyond just sponsor the RLL cars. Wow was I surprised when I arrived, and there was a giant IndyCar painted on the front windows! Now, we've all seen "race cars" used as marketing tools, but this was a very accurate representation of the current IndyCar, so it wasn't a fluke. This makes Andy a very happy boy. All of that is great if the store sucks, right? Well, this store doesn't suck. Far from it. The stores are laid out a bit differently from what I am accustomed to, but it's still organized like most other grocery stores, but this place has the hot-food bars, which made a big difference for me. The presentation and cleanliness really stood out to me, so whomever is pushing "quality" at this store should be commended. The prices are on-point with most every other food store, and that is to be expected. All of the employees I interacted with were smiling, which goes a LONG way for a new customer. I can say that the overall feel of this location is one that I wish I had North of Atlanta. I wish I had a way to cook meals beyond the usual hotel fare, or else I would be buying actual groceries to tide me over while I'm in Olathe. HyVee is our go-to in Omaha, and it's really nice to have such a nice HyVee so close to where we stay in KC. Part of the home-away-from-home vibe we have going there. Upon stepping foot into this particular HyVee, my socks were knocked off! To me, this HyVee is Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, Safeway/Vons, and Ralphs rolled into one. The lighting is fantastic, I felt relaxed and happy. The aisles are wide with all sorts of merchandise fully stocked. Everything was spic and span, I almost felt I can eat off the floor! A section of the store was dedicated to just organics and "healthy" options, including kombucha drinks. Another area of nuts and sorts sold by the pound, you scoop it yourself. Personally, all they need to sell here is clothes and then it'd really be a one stop shop! Ample parking for easy in and easy out. If only there were a HyVee out west... Went in yesterday during lunch to grab a salad at $5.99/lb. The salad bar didn't seem well attended to it and the items were chopped very poorly in my opinion. I use to go to the Price Chopper in Shawnee off K-7 & Shawnee Mission Parkway & their salad bar was nice. Anyways, the red onions were chopped in many different sizes (thin, thick & stuck to the root still). I'm not exactly sure how they set up the bar but you would think most veggies would be by each other. I was looking for cauliflower but only saw broccoli which if you go past the cheese & meat you'll find the cauliflower. Maybe someone put it in the wrong spot. Everything else seemed fine. I saw they had chili for $4.99/lb. I might need to go there for my chili fix but I'll see. The store is nice & the associates seem nice. Nothing bad to say about it. read more

WOW... I do not understand how they can do that to a can of gravy. We ordered 3 biscuits and gravy with hash browns, it looks like the missed the park of covering the potatoes too, but the real kicker was sausage flavor or actual sausage in the gravy. It was just flour and skim milk. I understand they have make things to take in consideration of diet restrictions, but wow that was 30.00 down the drain. It is often the little things that make me a loyal customer. I don't generally frequent HyVee for gas. I like to be consistent in my gas buying and HyVee Gas Stations just are not widespread enough. Today I stopped because I have a bunch of gas rewards. I generally save them because I can use them at Casey's and it makes for less costly trips to Iowa while I can fuel up cheaper at Sam's here. When I pulled in I noticed specific pumps marked for disabled people. I was curious about what made these pumps different. I noticed that they have call buttons that are at the level where someone in a wheelchair or motor scooter could access them easily. Someone could even pull up and press the button from their car. Most stations a disabled person would have to find the call button on a nearby post that is often out of reach or reach for the call button on the pump. This makes HyVee Gas my go to station now. That extra care, even though I don't need it, shows what a great company they are and that they care about their customers. Those are the companies I want to spend my money at. They also have fuel savers on many of the items in the convenience store. read more

Tried the online delivery service for the first time today & had a great experience, with a few noted exceptions: 1) site was a bit confusing when trying to select sale items directly from the PDF ad 2) didn't realize that there was going to be dry ice in my frozen food (thought it was regular ice cubes and tried to pick up with my hand) 3) would have liked to amend the order & add a few other items to it after was submitted. All in all, a great experience! I have a cold and didn't want to bear the weather to go to the store, yet needed something to eat! Tips: For obvious reasons, ordering wine or alcohol isn't an option for delivery, but was nice to have fresh produce, butcher service & wrapping and paper bag delivery to my door. This is a newer HyVee. It is huge with great everything. If there is anytime I have no idea what to eat, I head here. The kitchen food is plentiful and you are bound to find something you love. Leftover, can be found on the shelves for after hours (24 hrs). They have a good size of every section. I never feel cramped. Also, the multiple size selection of carts is a true blessing. If only every store would so this. Staff always seems to be helpful and friendly. I believe this store listens to the customer and tries to please. I had made a couple trips and my favorite soup was not there. There was two pots of chicken noodle. I made a call to ask a different day later and no again. 1. Ever since Sam Walton died, Wal Mart's prices have continued to inch up year by year, but ... Hy-Vee's prices are STILL significantly higher than Wal Mart. I will buy Hy-Vee's bakery items, for example, because ... even though they are more expensive than Wal Mart, they are BETTER too, but when we are talking the same items in both stores, it is just really hard to say (for example) that Hy-Vee's box of Minute Rice is "better" than the same rice from Wal Mart. 2. But my big beef with this particular Hy-Vee is its parking lot. It's curiously shaped, difficult to navigate, and they have so many reserved spots for (shopping carts, employee of the month, pregnant women, veteran heroes, and others) that it's really, really, REALLY difficult to find a spot a lot of times. So, IMAGINE MY JOY when I saw the other day that Hy-Vee took up 6 or 8 or 10 MORE spots for Tesla charging stations! Great...! For the 2 Tesla honors within 10 miles of here, that'll come in handy! It's to the point now where I will drive right by Hy-Vee in just about any direction and go to ... 1. Hen House (even more expensive, but WAY better parking!) 2. Target 3. Price Chopper or 4. I had a terrible experience here a few months ago. I was limping through my errands with two sprained ankles and crutches in my cart, and not one employee stopped to ask if I was finding everything I needed or to ask if I needed help. A stranger ended up offering to help me out to my car, which was a welcome relief. I had planned to not come back to this location until my local mom's group scheduled a cooking party here through their DISH program - Dinner Is Served with Hy-Vee. I feel like this location has fully redeemed itself with four amazing workers who helped make our night a success. I brought home 11 freezer meals for $150. Four friends and I used Hy-Vee's Club Kitchen, and had the help of four excellent staff members - who easily put in 5+ hours of work at no additional cost to us, prepping, cooking, and cleaning up. Plus, our organizer got $.39 in Hy-Vee Fuel Saver points. I think you can get a lot of stuff cheaper at other stores, but for the convenience and quality, I will definitely be back. read more

Poor customer service! I needed to do Western Union there because I don't have access to an app. Howard tone of voice was not friendly. He pointed to the Western Union sign and said "you need to do it on an app because they are trying to get away from doing the old fashion way." He sighed like it too much work for him. I told him I can go somewhere else but then he said he'll go ahead and do it, and then he added "I'm not going to keep doing this." It was the most uncomfortable 5-10 minutes of waiting for him to finish. SMH There are many ways to deliver a message of Western Union getting away from the 'old fashion' service. I have no idea why anyone shops here. First of all, the prices are the highest of any local supermarket except Hen House. If you've been to Hen House, you will know it is about 50-100 times nicer in terms of product quality and selection, so what the heck? Deli: Hy-Vee has pre-sliced deli meat and cheese of only one random brand. Why would I pay for a thick slice of cheese that has been sitting out for days so that the corners are dried out?Their prepared food such as fried chicken is disgusting. My husband and I have been subjected to Hy-Vee catering at work so many times and it is not worth a penny. It is awkward to be at a company picnic and trying to figure out where to slip your burger when no one is looking and it just doesn't even have to happen. Seafood: Forget about it, not Fuggedahboutit, but literally just forget about it. Got some shrimp that probably knocked my neighbors down the street off their couch with the smell when I opened it. $13 a pound for rancid crap. Bakery: Everything I have tried has just been subpar. Cookies are gross. Produce: Honestly offensive that they are charging money for this. I was trying to quickly pick up a piece of garlic, and every single one was sprouted, meaning it was months old. Absolutely unreal. Went to the shallots, and they looked like they had been run over. Two people next to me were looking through all the garlic and couldn't believe it either. Prices: I realize some people are too stuck up to shop at Walmart, but it's not really cool to spend double on the same items. Cookies and crackers such as Nabisco that are $2 at Walmart cost $4.50 at Hy-Vee. If you are that stuck up, go to Hen House because they actually sell fresh food. Fuel Saver: Do people really think they are saving money with this? I love to hear people squealing about going to fill up their cars with 10 cents off per gallon. So, if you get 15 gallons of gas, you will save $1.50. When everything Hy-Vee sells is old, overpriced, or gross, you can keep your $1.50. read more

This HyVee has really impressed me from the very beginning. I used to go to Wally world for everything, but HyVee has replaced Walmart and has literally put them to shame. HyVee has some of the freshest produce and lots of variety. Where I really like HyVee is in their meats section. Some of the best cuts in Kansas City. T-bones, kc and ny strips, filet mignon and plenty of other cuts. I also like their selection of fresh fish and shrimp and they never seem to be out of stock for anything. They have a couple of redboxes in there too and they have an awesome, amazing buffet. All of the food there is good and you can really go to town with the grand buffet. A very nice sit and eat section and this HyVee is open 24 hours. The staff is friendly and HyVee prides themselves in customer service. One of the things that I really like about how they treat their employees is that they never allow a worker to go out and bring the carts in by themselves. There are always two employees and one keeps watch. I think that is very smart and more stores should do that to keep their employees safe. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is that Price Chopper has better produce and a lot more variety. If they can match Price Choppers produce then I will definitely come back and post 5 stars. read more

After a busy Saturday I thought it would be nice to get fried chicken and sides from the Hyvee deli. It was terrible! The chicken was very dry, the cole slaw was watered down and bland and the potatoes were thick with congealed gravy. Such a disappointment. Easy to get in and out of for gas. If you have the Hyvee gas card it can save you a ton of money. The reason I don't give it 5 stars and this may be stupid but it is creepy. When you fill up the gas pump scrolls across the pay screen "Thank You --insert your name here---, please come again." This creeps me out in a Big Brother way other they are great. read more

I like this Hyvee because it's bigger an newer than another one closer to me. This location as a great deli, meat and prepared food selection. The rest of the store is a pretty typical grocery store. This location does have a nice size health food, allergy free section. It has a decent variety compared to some others. Plus you can talk with the employee who runs it to ask questions about products and even request they carry certain ones. Hyvee doesn't require a "shopper" card to get the best prices. However they do have featured items where you can earn gas points for gas discounts. A few locations have pumps in the same lot. But there are also specific gas stations you can go to and redeem your savings. I'm a fan of Hyvee. Reasonable prices, good sales, and friendly employees. read more

Terrible service and an impossible rewards system! I tried to cash in my 26 cent per gallon reward on my card when i went into the gas station and paid for $20 up front in cash. I went out to the pump and selected my fuel grade and nothing changed on the pump. We went back inside and asked why it hadn't been taken off we were told "you have to pump your gas first." We did and upon finishing saw that we still had not received our discount. We went back inside, this time the manager comes over and looks into our card and tells us that we can't use them because our card is not "fully activated". If i can receive points on my card why can't i use them!? I won't go back! This isn't the first time I've had problems with this gas station. The discount card is useless for anything other than discounts inside the grocery store. read more

We have a Price Chopper that is literally right up the street and there isn't a huge difference but I just like the layout better. Plus I feel management is usually very friendly and willing to go the extra mile. What I don't like with the grocery stores here. (Being a native of Colorado and living here less than 2 years) The stores are not really accommodating as far as corporate policies I'm assuming go. king Sooners owned by Kroger let you set up non profit booths out front of the stores to raise money as all the grocery stores did. They also would take special orders from consumers and order it for you. They do neither here. I feel like the stores here are a little greedy. Sams Club won't let a pop up Children's consignment rent an empty space for 2 weeks because of a no compete clause???? What is going on? When I presented the booth set up I was denied right away. "Corporate policy" is it also corporate policy to not do special orders? So I have to go to Price Chopper because they carry the items I need? Cmon Hy Vee! Step it up! read more

If you need a place for a quick, casual meal...do not forget about Hy Vee. This particular grocery store offers a very nice, clean dining room for its many offerings of ready made food. Plenty of space to sit and enjoy various types of food, served on real plates, and silverware...not the disposable kind. Fountain beverages and condiment bar also there for your use. The various food counters range from pizza, Chinese meals, pre made deli or salad bar, chicken, meat loaf and homestyle offerings as well as made to order hot sandwiches. The basic burger here is a fresh made patty that is very good, has the bar burger taste without the bar atmosphere. Another favorite for me is the grilled ham and cheese. made with thick sliced ham and several types of cheese, buttered and grilled...served with a large pile of fries..perfect for a rainy day. All this for an extremely reasonable price. Breakfast bar offered on the weekends looks like it has a lot to offer, but have yet to sample it. A perfect place to stop and eat on your way in to do your grocery shopping, so you don't buy a lot of incidentals, Filling you up before you shop can save you money. I have been shopping at this location for 10 years. Yesterday, I had the worst experience ever at the meat department. I believe I was discriminated against for being female. I was waiting at the meat counter to be helped and noticed there two men helping customers while the other one was doing other things. The employee who was doing other things looked up at me (no eye contact), but continued to do other things. While I was waiting, a male customer walked up to the meat counter and that staff member, stopped what he was doing, and walked up to the man and began assisting him. The customer told him he was just looking. The employee just turned to walk back to what he had been doing previously, completely ignoring me. At that time, I waved and said "over here" to get the employee's attention and he did walk over to me. He walked up to the counter and did not make any eye contact with me at all. In fact, looked down an aisle, instead of at me. It was the rudest thing I have ever seen. Never in my life have I been treated so poorly. I cannot put into words his actions. I went ahead asked him a question about an item on sale and was told they were out of it, but were not giving rain checks, because they weren't sure they were actually out of it. Whatever that means. He was so rude. So disappointing that Hyvee would hire an employee who would treat a customer so rude. read more

Had the special country fried steak. First one was very over cooked. I asked for one not so over done and was told i would need to wait (ok). When i returned i was given the most over done steak in the pan. I asked for a less cooked steak and was told " they are all the same.
