First time at Hen House. Great prices, helpful & friendly employees.
MJ T.

Visually appealing store, very helpful employees throughout the aisles helped with navigation of items. Good prices, great sale prices. LARGE organic selection in produce & other departments. Must get a loyalty card for certain sale prices. Had to have price corrected on a "manager's sale" item, but cashier easily adjusted the price. Lines were about 3-5 customers deep & additional cashier came when I asked if they could check me out at the customer service counter.

Size and selection of a big city super store with the manners and care of a small town market.

This is a beautiful supermarket with excellent service. I appreciate the covered area in front for loading one's car in inclement weather.

I've been to many different pharmacies in Kansas but this pharmacy is by far the best I've been to.

The pizza guy gave us some good intel on what to get and not get, and our pies were made perfectly and brought out hot to us. The bakery has a great selection of freshly made cookies, cakes and other fun items and they were all reasonably priced. I had a peanut butter explosion and the other ladies had some fun frosted sugar cookies. For me the cookies were too crumbly but they loved them. The reason for 3 stars was lack of customer service. I had to go to the front to get cups for soft drinks. The woman I approached didn't say 1 word to me when I told her what I needed. She just walked away to a register where she rang in my purchase. It would have been nice had she said, "follow me," or "I can help you with that." But i figured out what she was doing and paid at the register and then told her I had a problem. She said, "what?" with an irritated tone. I told her I needed the cups I had just paid for. Again, she walked away from me, apparently expecting me to follow her, and I did. Then she asked another employee to hand me the cups. The other woman did that and I thanked her. The cashier who rang up our few groceries was pleasant and the bagger actually joked with me, so at least I had that as I was leaving.

Ok as a former chef and one who likes to entertain, I frequent the grocery store, a lot. In…read moreaddition, I've also lived all over the US, specifically the Midwest and east coast. What that has shown me, specifically in Kansas and Texas is that the grocery stores can be HUGE. In fact many go well beyond and have a multifaceted food court within them. I'm not talking about a sandwich shop and premade cooked chicken, I'm talking full service and different themed restaurants. That's where my review of Hy-Vee will begin. Now people should realize with all conveniences come drawbacks. Hy-Vee is huge, probably the largest freestanding grocery store I've been to in Kansas (sorry Texas has you beat). I will say as someone that has family from Cleveland and remaining a fan I could do without all the Chiefs and Royals gear. I mean it's annoying! Red everywhere. Ok, seriously I do respect the team pride, I'm just tired of seeing that. BTW, that's not part of my review just my irritation creeping out. What I do like is sometimes their events spill out into the parking lot; events like a huge Chiefs BBQ party, which tells me Hy-Vee likes to do special things for the community. Ok now I'd like to make my observations about food. The Asian grill is actually really good! If you nab it straight off of the flattop it's better than two Chinese restaurants around it, which shall remain nameless. I never tried the city market, Italian place, coffee store or the BBQ food but the point is, the offering is there. To be fair Hy-Vee is trying to be a one-stop shop type of center, which the tradeoff ends up being quality for convenience. In other words if I compare Hy-Vee Asian to a free standing unit, there's no comparison but if I've got a lot to get and can grab some free fried rice at Hy-Vee it's right there. As for groceries they have a rather large and diverse selection other than produce. The mushroom selection is great. Want to pick up some woodear, loose shiitake, Oyster, Enoki, etc? I really appreciate the fact I can grab my own 'shrooms rather than be limited to a prepacked assortment. Next, they do have a lot of good exotic foods to pick from. Dragonfruit, Buddha fingers, watermelon radish and star fruit are a few items you'll find here but not at smaller grocery stores. The same goes for fresh meats at the butcher and fish from the monger. My overall assessment of Hy-Vee is it works well for its target group, middle class Kansas families looking for good prices on food that is pretty standard with having some "elegances" spread out enough to allow those who are adventurous to try something new. The shelves are well stocked, the environment clean and safe, and house made items such as breads, tortillas, soups, etc are very well crafted. Finally the prices are the best in town, an advantage of being in bulk. Hy-Vee is a great grocery store for the masses!

I wish it was around when I was living in the area. I would definitely be a regular customer! I visited on a quiet Tuesday afternoon, and the store was organized, neat, and easy to navigate, which was a lovely start. I had two main items on my mission: grabbing the Back to Nature Peanut Butter Creme Crackers (a snack I became obsessed with after a trip to New York!) and picking up a specific protein powder for my mom, which was on a great Buy One, Get One 50% Off deal. However, the real highlight was the service, thanks to Dahlia, a head cashier employee who stopped to help us. Dahlia was incredibly kind and went above and beyond. She walked us through the free rewards program, explaining not only how to find coupons but also detailing a huge deal: if you buy $100 or more in health & beauty products (including that protein powder!) within a three-month span, you will be able to get 30% off your next purchase. She explained that the purchases history for this deal resets after the three months are up. She even took the time to offer personalized recommendations, sharing her own experience with thinning and oily hair and suggesting specific shampoo and conditioner products for me to try. After Dahlia helped me with the rewards sign-up, I checked out with a different cashier. This cashier was also super nice; she knew I was setting up the account and proactively made sure I either entered my phone number or had my rewards barcode scanned before I paid, guaranteeing I got my points for that trip. The service didn't end there! I had a $3 off coupon for the protein powder that wouldn't go through due to the store's poor cell service/Wi-Fi connection. Dahlia, without hesitation, simply gave me $3 back in cash to honor the coupon deal--that is truly above and beyond customer service. I highly recommend this location! The product selection is great, and the atmosphere is pleasant, but the staff--especially Dahlia--is what makes this store shine.

No one has done a recent review, so I thought I ought to. I was getting online to see what time…read morethey open (I'm up early today) and saw how low the review score was for my favorite grocery store! Looks like all the reviews are pretty old. 2026 now and I've been going to this price chopper since before their update/before they built the walmart across the way. It did have a customer service issue for a while, so I can agree with the other reviews during that time frame, but these past couple of years have actually been really great for customer service. It's always been a clean store, and they always have a selection of things that the ol' wally world just doesn't carry. Keep up the good work on that customer service, and hopefully you can get your scores up! See you guys here in a few minutes when you open up.

They assured me they had it but weren't quite sure where it was and didn't offer to help me find it or to go get it for me since I was in the process of checking out. when they did finally tell me what aisle it was in both the checker and the sacker said they couldn't go get it for me that I have to go get it myself. I went to that isle holding up the checkout line while they just stood there twiddling their thumbs it wasn't there. When I return and told them that the Sacker said well, they must be out of it. After I checked out I went to customer service who referred me to the assistant manager after I just told her the whole story. I told it again to the assistant manager and she got it for me right away in a completely different aisle than they had directed me to before. It wasn't crowded so there was no reason why the sacker or even an assistant that was walking around couldn't go get it for me. It was one small item. They were all terribly rude. I will not return to that store. There are plenty of other grocery stores around town that seem to want to help you locate items in their store.
