I have not been to this store in many years because I have groceries delivered through Walmart. But I forgot to order two items so I stopped in to pick them up. The store is immaculately clean and even though the parking lot looked fuller, it didn't seem busy inside. Most of the shoppers were elderly people. The carts are nice and ergonomic it seems. There was a woman collecting carts from the outside and continually bringing them inside. It seemed darker in this store compared to Walmart and HyVee but everything was very neat and the produce section looked very fresh and neatly displayed. The beef section was more limited and I feel like the butcher would continually bring out a new product as people purchased some. That was what I was there to primarily buy. The rest of animal protein was displayed like other stores. The aisles were wide and neatly organized. They don't have as much selection as Walmart (food) or HyVee but it's a nice neighborhood store. I only saw the butcher, deli worker, shop cart attendant and a woman working the self serve area though. The parking lot is kind of a negative because it's shared with many other businesses in a strip mall so it's hectic. read more

Wife had a prescription sent there late in the day, but pharmacy was supposed to be open until 7, however they closed it at 6 due to staffing shortage. OK, things happen, but the sign still said open until 7 so I asked a blonde hair, short, boomerish, lady that seemed to be management...she gave me attitude like I was supposed to know they didn't keep their posted hours but didn't give any information--a younger employee curtly pointed to another small piece of paper with the hours closing at 6 and the "staff issue" info. They told me there's nothing they could do, but then found another small sign that said we could try another PC pharmacy--called them (Mur-Len) and they said they couldn't help because Shawnee already filled the script, even though they were closed. This section of the complaint was finally resolved by my wife going to CVS in Shawnee, and while insurance wouldn't cover it because of Shawnee PC's running it through insurance and closing it out. CVS still filled the script and the non-insurance price was only $13! (Could rant about insurance scams, but that's another review). Back to Price Chopper--it's a noticeable decline in service at this store in particular, haven't met a friendly employee at all there in the last few years, so try to avoid the place--Aldi and Wal-Mart Neighborhood are far better and less expensive anyway. It doesn't seem to matter, all ages, races, sexes, and whatever that work at that PC seem like they're just bothered to have to be there. read more

I'm predispositioned to dislike Price Chopper because of issues I had many years ago at a location that is now closed. This is the closest grocery store to my home, but as it is VERY busy and I already really dislike grocery stores, I seldom shop here. Prices and selection are good. I haven't really had any problems at this location that I can specifically remember; however, I just went here for the first time in about 2 years and only grabbed a couple of items that I just couldn't grab at a convenience store. read more

Ever since the beloved East Side Shawnee HyVee closed, I have been at a loss for a grocery store in my immediate area. There's Dillons, with its snarky teenagers and grumpy old lady (god bless Connie). There's the accursed West Side Shawnee HyVee, a grocery store that I will never step into. And then there's Price Chopper. I don't want to hate Price Chopper. In fact, I am rather fond of the one at I-35 and Roe. I have fond memories of the old Price Chopper in Shawnee, especially of its coke case "haunted" house and its unfinished floors. This Price Chopper, however, is bordering on unbearable. For the following reasons, 1. Everything here is overpriced. No, seriously, everything. Even the things "on sale" are 50 cents more than the average grocery store. I have no idea why everything is so expensive here, considering the neighborhood it is in. I have never and will never understand this gouging phenomenon. 2. The only meat that is ever on sale comes in family packs. WHY, GOD, WHY? 3. Produce will mysteriously disappear off of the shelf because it is "not up to standards." Really, Price Chopper? The green beans are really that bad that you can't sell them to me? 4. This store is laid out in such a confusing manner that I still have not been able to wrap my brain around it. 5. Bread Crumbs are on THE SOUP AISLE. WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY?! Other than that, it's okay, I guess. Now that my beloved HyVee is gone, I find myself most often shopping at Whole Foods. If I am going to pay 400 dollars for an apple, I'd at least like it to be organic and not bruised. read more

I received a gift card to use here. While at the check out an elderly man was taking the usual amount of time to pay with check. The cashier was acting impatient and rolling her eyes at other customers. RUDE! She continued her rude gestures when I had to pay twelve dollars over the gift card and use our rewards card. I don't know what it is, particularly about this grocery store, but I just can't bring myself to like it all that much (I can love a grocery store, is that so wrong?!). The basics of a grocery store it has down just fine. Good selection, produce selection seems to be in good shape albeit a little small, perhaps. Meat selection is good, nice quality. It checks all the boxes it needs to. Prices are perfectly in line with where they should be, some good sales, like the reward card, plenty of options for what you need... So if you are just looking to get what you need and get out and not really give two craps about anything else, this store will totally do the trick for you. If, however, you want a little something extra... eh, maybe not. The layout is a little odd and there are some strange points when you enter and leave where things sort of bottleneck. The produce section seems like it is sort of out of the way, around a corner you don't know you need to go around. The pharmacy is across from the customer service counter and if anyone is waiting at either, the people coming and going from shopping start to run out of space. The staff is fine but mostly seem like they don't care too much (but aren't annoying or anything, so they are fine). I just can't seem to figure out where things are because it seems to follow no real logical arrangement. Its a store that gets you what you need but is otherwise sort of just there. It's bigger than the old Price Chopper I used to go to but that one seemed a little more user friendly or something. We find ourselves going to HyVee more often now even though it is farther and, frankly, nothing special about that store either... just seems to be a little more user friendly than this place. read more

I come here specifically for the produce dept so I do all my shopping here. The guys are the best, I've asked about new varieties of fruit twice, is it any good, and both times they got a knife and sliced some up for me. Their fruit is always good, not hit or miss like you usually get. I was a little irritated when they started remodeling since I knew where everything was and now I don't. I have to say though that it does look really nice and the layout does makes more sense. I hope the prices stay the same. read more

When we first moved to Shawnee a year and a half ago the bakery was amazing. Beginning the first of May 2019 it has gone downhill! I just got a piece of Tippins pie and it was super old and soggy. I had to throw it away. A lot of times the bakery case is almost empty. It is so disappointing. The workers are very friendly. read more

I like this Price Chopper. It is much easier to get in and out of then most of the other grocery stores around. Also the clerks are extremely nice. Prices are great compared to the others around also. They also seem to have a better selection than Hy-Vee. I can find more items I want, too. The on-the-go Chinese food is is heads above Hy-Vee. The salad bar is also fresher. The meat & seafood selection is comparable to other stores as well. read more

This Price Chopper is a Cosentino's and not a Ball's so they can't look up your card if you have a Ball's Card. You have to get a new one. So I have two Price Chopper's cards. Otherwise, they are friendly and I had a stock person offer to go in back and see if they had something they were out of on the shelf. Luckily they did and he restocked after getting me what I wanted. He was very nice. The Set-up is a little odd. The Customer Service is right at the front where you check out and if people are lined up to get rain checks or Power Balls you have to maneuver around them to get back out side. Easy location to get in and out of and tons of parking. read more

This store was remodeled a couple years ago. Since then the whole tempo of the store has improved. The staff is friendlier, store is cleaner, and the organization smoother. During the pandemic the staff was great with all the proper 'etiquette ' . The store is the perfect size for me and has the inventory that covers my needs 99per cent of the time. (I can always find a specialty store if needed!) read more

I have been shopping here for years. This location has gone through numerous updates and a very recent remodel. The store has large, bright exterior signage. Once you walk inside, you instantly see an updated and somewhat trendy looking décor. All the departments have newer signage and the interior walls that have been updated and it looks very clean. They have a custodian/janitor than keeps the stores swept nicely. The register area now contains a self-checkout area, and this is the only place I had a complain. If you keep something near the bagging area (even as light as a reusable bag) the machine will give you an error. You can only continue after an employee assists you. Overall, I have great shopping experiences here and enjoy shopping here. read more

This is specifically in regards to the western union within Price Chopper. I called to check on the price for a money transfer. I was connected to 3 different people before being connected to a very rude woman who explained that she couldn't give me any information over the phone. I am not quite sure how a service such as western union cannot give their prices or any information to customers other than physically coming into the branch in person. Bottom line is the customer service (or lack-there-of) was unacceptable. I am assuming this woman is an employee of Price Chopper and not western union and she is a reflection of the store. Remember to be kind folks, especially if you're working in customer service! One bad apple can really spoil the bunch. read more

David did an awful job of remodeling this store. It looks like a warehouse. This place needs a total makeover. It needs to look like his hen house at 119 st.this store is not enjoyable to shop at. We have stopped going there. They also need to make sure your groceries are put in your cart like they are suppose to. They need to offer better customer service. read more

I usually just go to this location because it's the closest to home. However, I really don't like this store. The layout is difficult and I always have to ask an employee where something is located, and usually they don't know either. The checkers are always rude when I asked them about things. There is/was a sweet little old man that I enjoyed being in his line even though he was super slow. And once I had the assistant manager help me and she was awesome. Other than that the employees are not helpful or kind. After the last encounter with a rude cashier, I have vowed to go the extra mile to another location or Hyvee. read more

Called spontaneously this afternoon to see if the Deli could put together a mini-sub tray for our daughter's competition dance team's party tonight. She was supposed to bring a healthy snack option to share. They typically need 24 hours notice, but Jennifer went above and beyond saying she would make it happen in time for my husband to pick it up at 6 PM! The girls will love them! Every time I've gone here, none of the employees seem like they want to help. This goes company wide as well. Their fuel program is horrendous compared to Hy-Vee's. While the remodel looks nice, I will continue to shop elsewhere. I would not recommend shopping here. read more

I shopped here today and had the nicest cashier. She introduced herself as Amy and asked if I found everything okay. On my last visit here, I had a sweet older man as my cashier. So there's that - in my experience, this Price Chopper has the best cashiers. It's too bad though that I hardly get to experience these wonderful cashiers because the grocery store itself is so overpriced. Everything I looked at today was at least .50-.60 more than Walmart. Plus Walmart price matches to all the sale ads. I'm not a fan of Walmart by any means, but I am a fan of getting the best deal I can. I don't buy meat at Walmart though and that's how I ended up in PC today. All in all, a positive experience because now I know about this locations great cashiers.
