It was midnight and the only thing that is open around the area is Hwang. Usually, we go to Furasota on the same street because it is much cheaper AYCE Korean BBQ. Their AYCE is kinda pricey. Roughly $16.99 per person. Furasota is $9.99 per person. Their side dishes are very selective. You get more than other places. Their meat quality was average. Still pretty expensive....with that price, we usually get the soup and pancake at O Dae Son. The waitress rarely comes to our table. Good thing they left the water jug for us. The reason why this place deserves a 5 because you eat until you cannot eat anymore, with a variety of meats. For a young bull like me, it resembles heaven on earth. The types of meat you can choose from is beef brisket, marinated beef, which was phenomenal due to the seasoning, beef ribs, chicken, and more. The price to indulge in such madness is only $21! Can you think of a another place that allows such antics? The meal also comes with side rice, salad, and other dishes which I did not try but that's just me, so you do not have to limit yourself. And might I add, there is also no charge for more rice! There's are some places that only allow one bowl or rice or charge for a surplus but this place isn't stingy. They let you go until the wheels fall off. Furthermore, the service was uplifting and our waitress was a doll. A sweet little lady who consistently checked on our behalf. The food was fine but the customer service was just terrible. The lady who was serving us the food was like "more?" with a shocked like attitude. Who the fuck says such thing. The worst part was when we asked for the check. I didn't knew that they don't accept American Express so my friend had to pay. Our total was $73. My friend had $63 in his card so there was $10 due that I gave them my debit to pay it. Then they say my card didn't have enough either. Then me and my friend open our accounts to find out that I was charged $67 and my friend charged $63 and $54. About $200 fucking bucks. After suffering with them for 15 minutes until they voided everything wrong and right before we leave she said "NO TIPS?, YOU GUYS TOOK ALOT OF FOOD". AYCE Korean Bbq is liiiife. This place was a gem to find. It's a small mom and pop restaurant which are more than often the best way to go. It is nestled in Korean Town in a little Korean plaza. The place is not so esthetically pleasing but the food definitely is! The price for all you can eat is $21.99 for dinner. You can choose different types of meats like beef brisket, beef short ribs, chicken, marinated pork and all that jazz compared to other places where you can only choose one that was definitely awesome! The $21.99 comes with rice, salad and all the appetizers as well! No added fee for extra rice! All the meats were marinated really well and the meat seemed a good quality as well. My favorite was the short ribs, they were hefty portions! I do not have anything bad to say about this place. The lady who helped us was super sweet and attentive. I went with my friends to go try the spicy pork belly, octopus, and bean sprout dish. It was big enough to share with 3-4 people, and it was DELICIOUS. It was a perfect dish that you can eat with BEER and/or SOJU. The service was also fast and our waitress was very friendly. The waitress told us that Hwang's is under NEW MANAGEMENT. August was their first month since the change of ownership. I absolutely loved my experience. If you want to try something new instead of just Korean BBQ, definitely try the spicy pork belly, octopus, and bean sprout dish. You WON'T be disappointed. Hwang is a good late night dinner spot if you are craving for KBBQ. We came here late one night when most places were closed. $16.99 for AYCE KBBQ, not a bad deal given the decent quality of the meat. The side dishes were not fresh though. This place gets only 1 star and I didn't even eat there. That's the issue, I drove across town because this place is advertised to close at 1am. I got there at midnight, the open sign was still on, the doors were wide open, but the worker told us the place was closed. She told us the food was put away and cleaning had been done, but there were clearly 3 family's still eating. Point is, don't say you close at 1am when you put your food away at midnight. My friends and I all went to eat dinner. Food was okay but not amazing. Staff was okay but never asked if we wanted anything to drink except for the water that was already on the table. Just went last night with husband and 1 yr old son, and when I went to pay, I also gave her a $5 tip, and the korean lady got all mad because she said we made a mess that we should leave more tip. Come on, lady, all kids make a mess, and i even cleaned the mess the baby made on the table, it was only the floor left. The food was good, can't lie. But this was my first and last time coming here. And she even when to look outside for the previous customers because i guess they didnt leave a tip or not enough, and there were almost going inside their car, and she told them that they made a mess, so one of the guy went back in just to give her more money. Which I think, he shouldnt've done that. They were 5 college age guys. Come on! Who does that? This is a real little "Gem!" Got there at 4 pm on a Friday and two of the private rooms were already taken. Including my family of four, we were joined with another family of four. Four AYCE (All You Can Eat) for $17.99/person. We ordered the Kalbi Tong and another rice dish off of the Lunch Menu and we were all good to go. Like in some previous reviews, the brisket was a little chewy, but they WERE THICK! After cutting them with the usual scissors, we all went to town on them and the taste was on par with other more expensive restaurants. Tongue was terrific (rhymes...hahah), but the intestines were a little chewy -- as expected from fresh intestines that have not been brined or pre-treated in any way. All in all, THE FOOD WAS TERRIFIC!! More importantly, our waitress was SO SWEET AND ACCOMMODATING (like I had a new Omini [Korean for Mommy]). With 4 extra bowls of rice, 2 sodas, a beer and a soju, we left a huge tip for a tag of around $110. WOW!!!! read more
