    "brand-new" unwrapped custom order sectional delivered to my home with worn finish, tears in dust covers, dents, mismatched stain finishes

    Worst customer service experience, on a custom order, no less. Please read before making a purchase from HW Home. I ordered an expensive custom sectional sofa from HW Home in March. After much waiting and a delay, it arrived at the end of June--but looked terrible at delivery. The lack of attention to detail for a custom order was shocking--the wood finish was mismatched, two pieces had the correct dark stain, but one had a very light, wrong stain. It also arrived with torn dust covers, dents in the wood, and areas of worn finish. The HW Home delivery men explained that as a floor sample, it would have small areas of wear--and then were rightly horrified when they learned it was NOT a floor sample, but a custom order. They apologized for its appearance, and took it back. Then began a month-long run-around with HW Home. The most egregious offense (there were numerous) was that after many conversations/emails over 2.5 weeks, the store manager told me a full refund could be given. The statement was made without qualifiers and I took her at her word. Two days later, she apologized and recanted, saying she needed to clear it by Ron Werner, one of the two owners. He apparently did not back up her offer of a refund, and I was told he would continue the discussion. There was no update or contact for a few days, so I went to the store in person, hoping to meet with the owner (not there), and contacted the store manager again. Five days later, still no update, so I called yet again and learned that Ron Werner claimed to have called me over the weekend, but chose not to leave a message (mailbox was not full). In addition, I learned he left the country earlier that day and would be gone for 2 weeks. Unbelievably rude. He had both my personal cell phone number and email address, and 5 days within which he could have gotten in touch, and he did not. I think it's even more distasteful that a Colorado-based company treats their customer in their own home state this way. I deliberately chose to make my purchase with a local company. I'm extremely disappointed. I worked very hard to reach a point in my life where I can comfortably afford to purchase high-end furniture; however, with these purchases, I expect quality service. I was looking forward to the furnishing of my new home with a unique piece from HW Home. Instead, I've had to inform my new home visitors of my terrible experience with them in explanation as to why I (still) cannot seat them more comfortably.

As such I took Thursday, April 2 off from work to make sure that I was available to receive my order in person once I was notified of the actual day of delivery which they never did. That Thursday I contacted Denver City Furniture to find out the status of the delivery of the mattress to my new location where I was moving. They contacted the shipper, presumably FedEx and they were notified that the mattress had been dropped off on Wednesday, April 1. This means that I took a day of PTO for no reason and my mattress was sitting outside possibly available for porch pirates and I was none the wiser. In attempting to get compensated for the monetary equivalent to my loss of a PTO day, I was given a $100 credit to the store which basically covers one goddamn pillow. Despite my frequent pleas for compensation that at the very least matched the monetary equivalent to my lost day of personal time off, I was stonewalled. This is a slap in the face and the message being sent is that my time my frustration and their lack of ability to effectively communicate logistics is only worth less than half of a day pay for me that I am now out. Suffice to say Ashley furniture, and Denver city furniture will not be getting any additional business from me. To be fair, Mark, the sales guy was a peach. Unfortunately though they'll never get my business again and I will be reporting Ashley furniture to the Better Business Bureau because they suck balls. Of course I contacted Ashley corporate and they were zero help and told me I needed to contact city furniture for any help with this. So in predictable form, one entity is pointing fingers at another entity, saying they need to take care of it. Meaning it's a vortex of lousy service.

All real wood aswell being that cheap right now is amazing! There was also a vanity we had gotten the same day, it looks like a normal wooden table/desk but the middle panel of the table opens up into a mirror with makeup storage and ect. All real wood and made in the 1800s! For 150$ same price as the dresser. Both are very pretty and amazing. I'm really happy with my purchases here! As well the owners sons were very helpful with loading our items into our car. In general this is a amazing store, it has a lot of amazing furniture that has history with it. I'd recommend coming to look for good quality furniture at good price and to come for the hospitality and the cool

I was wrong, and I regret this decision. After three months (BluDot's issue not Mod Livin's), the planter finally arrived--but not black as pictured in the listing photos. The planter is grey. I reached out to Craig who, in the past, has offered the possibility of returns, but suddenly changed his philosophy with his online client base and has basically told me I'm stuck with this item. I was genuinely surprised and dismayed, as the 1) listing is unreliable, 2) online customers do not have the advantage of seeing an item in person, and 3) I would have been able return this item with Wayfair. Silly me for thinking on principle here, as this same courtesy has not been extended by the owner. I now have to pursue a chargeback for this item that has tied up my funds for three months and was an avoidable disappointment. After three years and several purchases with Mod Livin, this will be my last.
