I love this plant store so much. They used to sell high-quality plants that were well taken care of. Too bad it's out of business.

Lynn and Maurice have transformed me from a regular, to a bad** plant mom for years; thanks to the Rosehouse!! I purchased plenty of air plants, aloe vera plants, etc., Angelica, the store's resident one-eyed cat is super cute. I fell in love with her instantly. I bought a really nice plant with a glass container as my first one. This was years ago; I wasn't experienced in keeping plants and ended up failing my first one. The staff, mainly Lynn, ended up attempting to revive my plant and kept care for about 2 weeks. I returned and she ended up giving me a new one. She taught me so much about plant food, sun exposure; I learned so much about plant care ever since. The Rosehouse has been featured on numerous websites, articles and they even have their very own Podcast: Up The Plants! Lynn shares what inspired her love of plants and Maurice talks about how one plant in particular ruined his dating life. Unfortunately, I only see about 3 active episodes, but this one can be useful to get in touch with your inner plant. Plus, it's witty and humorous. I love their summary of their podcast, nonetheless: "All Plant Everything. Why we love them? Where do they come from?, How do we take of them? We talk global traditional uses for medicine, spirituality, current trends and environmental implications. Come nerd out with us." The Rosehouse has mainly street parking and close to the Mutiny Information Café! I always made the tradition of visiting those 2 favorite shops of mine. The Rosehouse began delivering plants straight to your door, because of the temporary ban in store shopping. I really enjoyed walking inside Rosehouse, because of their classy vines, beautiful plant pots and unique species of plants: White Variegation Leaves, Snake Plants, Air Plants etc., just my favorite place to grow my collection! Am I all for cute, independent shops? Absolutely! Here is the good and the bad. Good...cute shop, fun botanical prints and of course, THE PLANTS! Love 'em! The bad...walked in, 2 people working the shop, we said HI and both literally ignored my friend and I. Like looked at us, no smiles welcoming us in, turned around and continued their conversation. It's an eclectic shop. You should 'kill them with kindness'. The nicer you are, the more sales right? Prices...wow. Literally bought a larger size of this particular plant at IKEA for $20 that they were selling for $65. How does that work out?? Now you are probably thinking, add in the cute pot. Nope. No cute pot. Just the typical plastic pot. I get commercial companies pay less for their inventory due to larger sales than small businesses, but this seemed excessive. What I am saying guys is this. Definitely a cute shop, no denying that. Employees attitudes could be better and needless to say, prices are HIGH. I drove quite a ways to check this place out that I was following on Instagram only to walk out empty handed. read more

WHAT IS THIS WONDERLAND? Stumbled upon Rose House completely be accident and am so happy I did. I used to live in this part of town (Wash Park/Baker) and would frequent Ironwood for all the beautiful plant things and home things. I was so bummed they closed, but luckily they've been replaced with this little piece of magic that is Rose House. I spotted Rose House from across the street by their pretty floral mural and window full of plants. Upon walking in, this place feels a lot like Ironwood--i.e. plants galore. I'd say they're much more focused on plants, botanicals, and prints rather than some of the taxidermy and oddities that their predecessor had, although they do have some great crystals and macrame available if that's what you're into. They also have a wooden shelf with all of the teas and herbs you'd ever want! Definitely coming back here for gifts. I was here for probably five or ten minutes and was never greeted by the folks working at the shop--not a huge deal, although their wares (plants and botanicals) are the sort of thing where some explanations would be nice. There's something really special about this place. When I've stopped in Rosehouse during my little amble from Mutiny to Decade (my little treat yo-self tour I take every month or so), I've had something heavy on my mind, and Angie (who I suspect is actually a witch who chooses to live as a cat) has run to me with a meow for pets and some intense eye contact. We have our moment and the world suddenly feels much calmer. Then, I find a plant that speaks to me. I've been growing our little potted garden below a semi-shaded sky-light, and I've been picking up special additions here when I can afford it. Seriously coveting the huge, lusciously dripping palms and gigantic trailing vines, but alas...freelance life... The babies that I've gotten here have been given ultimate care, so it's like sprinkling a little magic onto all my plants when I settle them in. I've spoken with two lovely people on my visits, but being as awkward as I am around people, I've never gotten their names. But thank you for curating such a special place! read more

What a great store! If you love plants and all things botanical, then this is the place! The plant selection is amazing and the price point is spot on. They have the sweetest display wall of different dried teas and tinctures that you can make and measure yourself, as well as funky and cool accessories for you plants and home esthetic! Rosehouse is known for it's quirks -- one of which is the house cat. The store displays a sign in the window that states that if someone has severe allergies, or a service dog, the cat can be placed in back. The sign also makes it clear that the cat is capable of reacting poorly to people and animals that she doesn't want in her space. My service dog and I have made the mistake of missing the sign before. Last summer, I came in and the cat jumped out and clawed at my service dog. My dog was standing about two feet away, and did not provoke the cat at all. I didn't even see the cat to begin with. Last week, I felt like treating myself to some new plants. In an attempt to shop safely -- I decided to wait by the front door with my service dog so that I could convey to the staff that I needed the cat to be placed in back. The music was loud, and instead of coming to speak to me the employees yelled at me from across the store. When I asked them to put the cat in back, they yelled "keep your dog close to you". I thought this was rude and fairly obvious because my dog was wearing her service vest. I explained that the cat had attacked my service dog before, and they rolled their eyes before putting the cat away. I asked nicely for them to put the cat away three more times, each time stating that I have a service dog before they complied. They said, "she lives here" in protest -- as if that doesn't make it an accessibility issue. All the employees proceeded to stare as I walked around the store. I was the only customer there, and not a single one of them greeted me. I did not feel welcome at all, and left quickly. People rely on service dogs to help them manage their health and well-being. Service animals are medical equipment, and it is unacceptable to prioritize this cat's lifestyle in a public store that disabled people are entitled access to. If the cat can't be trusted leave service dogs alone, it shouldn't be in the store impeding the disabled community's access. It's especially frustrating that I was treated like a nuisance for asking them for a reasonable accommodation they offered to provide in the sign. The least the staff could do is be kind about it. It's also worth noting the sign itself is ridiculously ableist and unaccessible. Blind people shop for plants too. How are they (and their guide dogs) supposed to navigate the store safely? I know from experience that the cat is capable of attacking without being provoked, and it's unreasonable to make it the customers' responsibility to not get attacked. It truly saddens me to share this, but I believe it's important. They should be held accountable. read more

My favorite store in Denver! I get all my plants from here and they're always beautiful and healthy. They have a wide selection, and rare varieties that I can't find anywhere else! The staff is SO sweet, they're always welcoming and helpful. They've even helped me with plants I already have at home! Besides plants, they have a wide selection of tea, herbs, postcards, and some art prints! They also make seasonal tinctures and remedies that are BEAUTIFUL and all hand picked and made. Sad at how bad my experiences have been here. I live in the neighborhood and try and shop local. I wanted to support this small business. However, every time I've been in, without exception, I have been ignored or spoken to rudely. I came in to get some cat safe plants to which I was told "my cats have never gotten sick from pathos",,, too bad I had expressed I was not comfortable with keeping them in my house. Rosehouse has a great selection of beautiful, magical, and well-cared-for plants, for sure. Maybe the best thing about Rosehouse, though, is the energy of the place. I never feel unwelcome. I never feel like a have to be a certain "type" of person to shop here. The product they carry is responsible, local, small, and of very high quality. Not sure of exactly what you might need? Talk to Lynn. She's always there to help me figure out just what plant, seedlings, tea, or treatments I need in my life. Lynn's the owner and serial has a heart of gold. I was at Rose House at the end of February for a conference during some down time. I almost missed it walking by but am so glad I didn't. The energy in the store is truly fantastic, as is the space and they were burning palo santo. There are an immense amount of things to look at and explore from plants, vegan chocolate, bags, frankincense crystals to burn, cards, and pins. It was hard to decide on only a few things to get. I decided on two sticks of sage, two of the vegan chocolates, and a card. Would definitely love to go back! read more
