Had a deck off my 2nd story master bedroom that was literally falling down. Poor original construction plus what they refer to as 'deferred maintenance', (me being too damn lazy), meant that the rails were rotted, the whole thing was wobbly, and I was really afraid it was going to fall down. I had contacted some other local contractors for bids, and had gotten estimates as high as 20K to replace it. Some others didn't even bother to call me back. We were on a tight budget for this project, so I think they knew it wasn't going to be a money machine kind of deal. Nick and Jason showed up after a quick call to their office, and really were the only contractor who listened to my concerns and really tried to understand what I needed and my budget constraints. I didn't want anything too fancy, but was not willing to sacrifice quality or safety to save a few clams. They took their time to review the current structure, took notes, and even offered to do a "neighbor's annoying damned barking dog relocation" The quote was simple and within budget. the plan was to save the parts of the structure that were good, replace what was necessary, and make the deck look great and mainly be safe for my family. As you'd expect there were a couple of things that came up during the project, but Nick and Jason were very good at communicating the changes, and kept the cost increases to a minimum. They were great around my wife and son, clean, respectful and very entertaining. We thoroughly enjoyed having them here, they were like those friends that guys always have, with entertaining stories and quick smiles. They called in a favor with a friend to get the deck painted for a lot less than expected, again to keep things in line with what I asked. Overall, I highly recommend them. I did not get a chance to see any detail work so can't comment on anything like that, but they'll be the first guys we call when we need something done. read more

I called to get a quote on installing a gas fireplace. We made an appointment for a couple of days later. Nick and Jason showed up right on time. They were professional looking, professional sounding and very friendly. After taking all the measurements and discussing what I needed, they told me I would have a quote in a few days - and I did. I got several other quotes and theirs was very competitive. I really liked their attitude and the great reviews on Yelp, so I hired them. The electrician came the day before to move some electrical lines and audio cables. He did an excellent job. They came the next day and did the framing. There was a small snafu with the plumber, he got hung up on another job, so rather than start his work late in the afternoon, we arranged to finish on another day. They showed up in force on that day and finished the job. I still need rock work done around the fireplace and once the cabinetry is finished, I will have them do the work. Jason and Nick are very customer-centric, making sure we were happy with the work. In a nutshell - very professional, very courteous and great work. Highly recommended. read more

Jason showed up to our house and was very friendly and seemed eager to help us remodel our kitchen in a way that we wanted but still affordable. Our budget wasn't enormous, but it wasn't a small project by any means either (i.e. it was worth money to his business). When he left the house after the initial visit, he promised he would be in touch within a few days after collecting some information. After a few days of no contact, I called him twice to no answer. I then emailed him the next day. The next day after that, he emailed back to let us know he hadn't had a chance to do anything yet and will be checking things out "this weekend." I never heard from this company again. ...After 4 weeks from our initial visit with Jason with no contact at all, we let him know to forget about the work. All I can say is that I'm grateful to Jason for having shown us how undependable his company was for us *before* we began our construction project with him rather than after. read more

This company is awesome. After the big rain storm we had, my fence at my rental property was leaning over and it needed help. First I tried calling a fence repair place and they all told me they can't get to it till the end of the month. Jason returned my call very quick was able to get out to my property and get me a quote the very same day. Than he emailed me a quote with a description and price. I can't say enough how pleased I am with the work Jason and Nick did in creating addition office space within my companies distribution center. The City of Corona made this rather simple build incredibly difficult to deal with, but the guys did everything by the book and had to put up with at least 7 different city inspectors along with the outrageous antics of the cities building department. They were very helpful and accommodating with the rolling changes made during construction. The final results were better than expected and if I need anything else in the future with this building, or my personal residence, they will be the first I call because they proved to me they are a customer first operation. read more

We're so excited to work with them at first. They came and said all the right things. Even told us they would send us a quote the next day. A week later and nothing so my husband called and he said he will have it by the next day. Still nothing. It's been two weeks and after several attempts, they dropped off the face of the earth. All we wanted done was some concrete, a fence, and a gate. I don't see that hard to quote. Guess we will take the $30,000 we saved for our projects elsewhere. read more

I wrote a glowing review for this company a few years back, and it's no longer posted here. Back then, they poured 2 cement slabs for us. Well, HW just did a tear out and install of a shower for us. This review? Still GLOWING! We are regular, budget-tight homeowners. You know, the kind that most contractors won't bother to even return your call because the job is too small? Jason and Nick are nitpicky, and don't care if it's a $2,000 job or a $200,000 job - it will be done RIGHT, they will show up on-time, and they clean up. There were a few "surprises" that neither of us knew about when the job began. They analyzed the situations, talked to us about the best ways to solve the problems, and didn't hesitate to fix them CORRECTLY. No price gouging, no glossing over the issues. They deserve 10 STARS! Call whomever you want, but ONLY HIRE HW. Yes, Virginia, there IS an excellent contractor out there - it's called HW General Contracting - these guys are the BEST! read more
