For someone who's spent most of the past nine years renovating our fixer-upper, the choice to work with Sean at One Call Home Services was one of the easiest we've made. We have a unique 3,000 sqft ranch home that was built in phases starting in the 1960's, and we knew having a central AC system installed would be anything but simple. THE OTHER GUYS: We entertained 4 other HVAC contractors before meeting with Sean. As someone who works in construction, I was disappointed to find that the other contractors were quick to complain about the challenges our home presented, and that their estimates reflected an unwillingness to think outside the box. When we proposed installing a high-velocity mini duct system to maximize our limited space, the other contractors were either inexperienced or unwilling to consider the project, instead producing estimates that were outrageously expensive (i.e. multiple full-size systems), not possible without major interior renovations/obstructions, or a combination of the two. ONE CALL HOME SERVICES: When Sean first came to our home for our initial estimate, we were immediately blown away by how far he stood above the competition. These guys were great. I would recommend them highly. I had just gotten back from Minnesota and walked in on a heatwave. We tried our air conditioning and it was not working. Sean was on vacation and his son Daniel came over to see if it just needed a charge to get me going. After troubleshooting it turned out the compressor had shorted. Daniel ran to the shop and got us two window air conditioners until we could sort out what repair we were going to take. Excellent attention to their customers and great follow-up. One Call just completed a sizable project for me on time, on budget with a level of professionalism that is a breath of fresh air. We live in an older home (built in 1804) that can sometimes be a challenge for any home project. The AC compressor and air handler were standard older models that were replaced with updated, more efficient models. The challenge was the boiler for the hot water baseboard heating, 2 zones. Sean suggested a new to market Bradford White combi unit that would provide the hot water for heating as well as the hot water for daily use. One appliance is better than two so we made the decision to get rid of the water heater and opted for the combi unit. The installation was well thought out, smartly situated to provide more floor space in the basement and the work was pristine after the work was completed. Sean was great!! He responded quickly and gave me honest feedback. I won't drop names but a big orange truck came to my house and with in five minutes told me there were no options other then to replace my unit. It was an extremely HOT day and after having the worst day at work I came home to no air and this news. My co-worker had used Sean in the past and recommended I call his Company for a second opinion. LET ME TELL YOU!! I am so greatful I did just that because not only did he get my AC working but he also said if I wanted to replace my unit he would subtract the cost of this service call. We are really grateful to have found Sean. My elderly mother's hot water heater was leaking, and she had over an inch of water in the pan when she noticed it. Sean asked us questions to help us diagnose whether she needed a new water heater or just a new relief valve, and when my mother was unable to reach the relief valve to check it, he squeezed in a callout at the end of the day, which provided both my mother and me (I live in another state) peace of mind. He also suggested that she get a smaller water heater than she currently has to help her save money on the job. We're waiting on the quote, so I can't speak (yet) to the actual service or price, but we are pleased with the service we have received so far. When I asked him to wear a mask due to my mother's age, he responded right away that he'd wear booties, a mask, and also sanitize.
