Well, for some reason, the people in our community recommended this guy, and not sure why after reading these reviews. I tried calling the guy two times asking about potential work in my home., never got a call back. So while I can't really rate his work, I will say this is a very non-responsive company, and don't waste your time. On a sidenote, another neighbor of mine used him recently before I had a chance to even look up his ratings and reviews , and said he was awful. Zero stars if I could. This vendor ignored our clear instructions and installed the water spigot where he wanted instead of where we requested. To make matters worse, he installed what appears to be a used sump pump and charged us for a new one. That is unacceptable and dishonest. Wanted to like this guy, but he came in to fix my sump pump as part of the AHS service, and when his fix did not work at all, I called him the next day and for days after that. My hot water heater stopped working and they sent a plumber named David out to fix it. It was difficult to get a hold of them and when David got there he didn't even troubleshoot anything. He just went ahead and changed out elements. Next day I once again have hot water and called this company none stop, and no one would answer the phone. There supposed to be 24hr and at this point I have no hot water for 8 days. I never dealt with a company with such poor communication with their customers. I wouldn't recommend using this company for anything. My issue still isn't resolved and had to reach out to another company to get my issue fixed. read more

If I could give a lower review I would I was assigned Steinberg thru AHS warranty service for a leaking hot water heater I spoke with David once and since i was trravelling and out of town I gave him a list of contacts, including the person staying at the house, to make arrangements he said he would call the contacts i gave him to make arrangements . Dave did a couple of jobs for me a two years ago and he was great. I called him a few times this year to do some work for me, and he doesn't even return my calls. American Homeshield assigned this plumbing company to my plumbing needs. Everything started out great. He called on a Friday evening after regular business hours to assign himself to the job on Monday morning. I spoke to him and asked him to call me when he was done to update me on the findings of the leak and if he was able to fix the issue. After he did the job, there was no response from him. I called the next day and left a voicemail, no reply. I gave him a second call a day or two later, but he did not return the phone call. I had my husband call, which then Dave finally gave him the update. I am not one to play the phone game. He is very professional but needs to be more responsive to customer's phone calls, especially when he just did the job at their home. read more

Steinberg installed a new water heater for me but the unit was severely dented. Less than a year later, the unit started leaking. Numerous calls and texts were placed to the company to come out and look at the unit. They finally gave me an appointment time and date to come out but never showed up without any calls. After this, numerous calls and texts went unanswered. Very disappointed in their follow up and lack of servicing their work. I would not use this company again. Very poor customer service and setting an appointment without showing up or even calling and then never returning calls is not what I would expect out of any company I would like to work with in the future. read more

My home warranty referred this raggedy plumber to me to just switch out my shower kits. The initial week he was supposed to come, he was a NO CALL AND NO SHOW. I had to CALL HIM to see if he was keeping our appointment only to find out he had "another job that ran over". How about COMMON COURTESY of letting me know!!! So he shows up the following week to switch out my shower kits but I had the wrong parts. He told me what parts to get...so I returned everything for the correct parts. He was supposed to come back and install them this week. When I called to see if he's still coming 8 MINUTES BEFORE HIS APPOINTMENT (because he confirms NOTHING)...he told me to CALL MY HOME WARRANTY & never called back. Here's how HE IS NOT A GENUIS...we built a good rapport and I liked Dave (initially). I called the home warranty to find out the install was not covered but I still have all of these parts...he could've had the job at retail price. BUT HE BLEW IT and I hired another contractor! I was referred to this plumber by American Home Shield (AHS) and the plumber never reached out to us. After leaving multiple messages we did reach Steinberg service and made an appointment. Dave the plumber showed up and was very personable, gave me a diagnosis of what he thought it could have been a leaking pipe from a rusted old elbow on the main water line in my basement. Said I'd need to call the water company to shut the water off so he could repair...... Dave misdiagnosed the leak and called American Home Shield, lied to them and said the leak was caused by the homeowner damaging the pipe. We're talking about a leaking pipe that is rusted and discolored in an area of the basement that is never ever touched. AHS denied the repair. Spoke to Dave who promised that AHS misunderstood him and he would call them back. After caused me headache calling customer service, they got him on the line and he confirmed with them that the leak was caused by the homeowner. THIS IS THE MOST DISHONEST EXPERIENCE I'VE EVER HAD WITH A SERVICE PROVIDER, EVER.......SHAME ON YOU. Almost caused me to quit American Home Shield after fighting with customer service. Thank goodness the RETENTION DEPARTMENT sent us as another plumber who diagnosed the problem quickly as wear and tear rust and fixed the leak immediately before there was a major blow out from the water line into our basement. What a complete waste of time and money. It's unfortunate that the majority of 1-star reviews about Steinberg Plumbing are filed under "not currently recommended" because those experiences are exactly what I've encountered with Steinberg Plumbing. We had an issue with our pipes in our bathroom sink and contacted our home warranty company who then dispatched Steinberg Plumbing to us to take a look. During the service call, the one man show that is Steinberg Plumbing explained the issue(s) to us and what needed to be done. A day after the service call, we receive a call from our home warranty company that said that the Steinberg Plumbing found our pipe issues to NOT be from wear and tear but something deliberate. That's interesting because his statement to the warranty company was essentially the complete opposite of the information he had provided to us. Following the warranty company call, my husband reached out to Steinberg Plumbing not once but several times along with voice messages but we have yet to hear back from him. Mind you, this man originally scheduled a follow up appointment with us to do the work for Monday, Feb 1st (which is today and he is still a no show). We wanted to figure out the costs and everything else and make a decision as to whether or not we wanted to move forward with Steinberg Plumbing to complete the work anyway, with or without warranty but alas it seems that Dave Steinberg isn't interested in any work. So if your home warranty company tries to send this guy out to you, just know that he's probably gonna walk away with your $100 thanks for the warranty deductible and you'll still be left with a broken sink or whatever other plumbing issues you may have. read more

My hot water stopped producing hot water, I called my home warranty company, American Home Shield, and paid my service deductible. I was immediately notified that Steinberg Plumbing was selected as my contractor and should expect a call the following day to schedule an appointment. I waited until about noon and had not received a call. First red flag. I called and received Dave who answered with a simple "Hello", no introduction to the business line. Second red flag. I was able to schedule an appointment for Tuesday between 11am and noon. I received a confirmation email from AHS for the appointment for after placing my service request Thursday night. Dave assured me he would see me Thursday and we would "get that water fixed". Like many others I had to adjust my work schedule to be home during the confirmed time. 12:30 rolls around and Stenberg Plumbing does not show or call. I call Steinberg and leave a voice mail. Third red flag. I was somewhat surprised when Dave immediately called me back and confirmed he was still coming just running behind. So much for the courtesy call. Fast forward to 4:45pm and still no show / no call. I call and leave another voicemail. Nothing. I now call AHS who tells me they were able to contact contractor and Dave would be calling me momentarily to "give me a reason". As you can imagine - no phone call 1.5 hours later. I read a previous review in which the reviewer stated "it's life" when you have to take time off of work and a contractor doesn't show. Not my life. I'm assuming that reviewer was a family member - hardly any other excuse for it. I called AHS back again and requested a new contractor. They advise me I need to wait until noon tomorrow to see if Dave or Steinberg Plumbing responds. Based upon my experience thus far I doubt that will happen. read more

Let me start off by saying I have never written a Yelp review in my life. However, I was so confused after reading these reviews and comparing them to my experience with Dave that I felt compelled to do so. Our water heater stopped working almost two weeks ago. We contacted our home warranty company to send someone out to take a look. I had been warned about the first company they sent us after reading awful reviews. It was clear upon meeting them that they were trying to rip us off, so I sent in a request for a second opinion. After they referred us to Dave, I again read reviews and was a little nervous. I feel like it's important to know that when you request a service through the warranty program, it's YOUR responsibility to initially reach out to the company assigned to you. I was pleasantly surprised when we called and left a message for him and he returned our call within a couple of hours. He was able to come to our house last Friday afternoon and ordered a new water heater for us over the weekend. The water heater was delivered to the the pickup location this morning (Wednesday) and he immediately called us when he was notified of the delivery to come over and install it before the pending snow storm hits. Dave was super nice and was in and out within a couple hours ...and we now finally have hot water again! He was also nice enough to waive the disposal fee for the old water heater. Again, our experience with him was way different than the negative reviews I've read. With that being said, most of the time when people write negative reviews we don't know the whole story. Some people just like to complain. Also, if you hire someone to come fix something in your house don't be surprised if you have to leave and/or miss work in order for them to do so...that's life. Dave Steinberg is the best plumber you could get. He has the temperament to deal with plumbing issues and is as professional and courteous as they come. I had a plumbing disaster at my house when a second story water heater completely failed this past weekend, sending water crashing through the ceiling on onto the family room floor. I'm not sure what happened with Dave but we had an appointment for him to investigate a leak in our house. We waited for him to show and my husband called but no answer. We finally heard back and he had car problems and would be an hour late. Understandable although not sure why he didn't send us a quick text. It's hard to justify lack of communication in the 21st century. Anyway he never showed up!!! We called a few times the next couple of days to reschedule and he never called back! It's so disappointing. It's hard to find reliable and honest plumbers. We had used him many times prior with amazing experiences and even recommended him to others. David the plumber, also apparently the owner, came to my house to address a clogged tub. Water wasn't going down. David came to a property I own and poked a snake down the drain a couple times. After trying to get a hold of him for several days with no call back, finally got him and his official diagnosis was that the old pipes must have collapsed and the whole drainage system needed to be replaced. He is the professional doing this for many years, so I figured this must be pretty accurate and started planning for the expense to now replace my drainage system and possibly the old tub too. He said he would need to cut out my kitchen ceiling and replace all the pipes. Figured I would go to the property and take a look before making any decisions. Just for laughs and giggles, I put a shop vac over the drain and put my hand over the vent. Turned on the shop vac and immediately sucked up a fidget toy wrapped in hair. Magically the water started to go down again! I guess the IT guy has a future in plumbing.... I'm sure David will do the right thing once I explain the situation.... But of course not. His response was that I just got lucky and I should call my warranty company for any type of refund. Well done sir. We had a leak in the pipe under the bathroom sink into the kitchen. Dave came out and blamed the leak on a rehab that was done over 2 months prior to the issue. Also the rehab never opened the floor or changed out any of the pipes in the sink. Of course while he was at my house he said he would be back in two days to start the work. He then called the warranty company and placed the blame on work that was done over two months prior that never touched any of the pipes. read more

Like Wendy below, I believe I have found my go-to plumber. David Steinberg also came to my house on a warranty call - I was having issues with (what I thought were) groaning pipes and lackluster water pressure. He arrived on time, and I explained all of the issues to him with all the detail I had been able to gather. He proceeded to take the time to explain to me how well water, well pumps, well tanks, pressure gauges, etc. all work together. He talked me through every step and ensured me that everything was working as designed, but that we would probably do better with a larger well tank, on which he could install a better pressure gauge, which would solve my water pressure issue. He gave me a very reasonable quote for this work, and we will probably have him do it in the next month or so. As for the 'groaning pipes', it turned out to be an issue with my showerhead! He took his time diagnosing this issue by basically taking apart my showerhead and testing different scenarios to figure out what was causing the sound. I'm thankful that my plumbing issues aren't more serious, and also thankful that he took the time to work through everything and educate me in the process. (It's exactly what I was looking for from the first plumber that visited my house, and didn't get.) Thank you David, I look forward to working with you in the future! read more

I used this plumber before and was very satisfied with the work. I then recommended him to my brother in law who used him and was also satisfied until he set up an appointment with him, took a day off from work to be home and he didn't show up. He then called and was told that an emergency came up and that he promised he would be there the next morning at 9:00am. My BIL took another day off....would you believe the guy didn't show again! It wasn't my problem so I called him for an installation last week. He was great on the phone and told me the parts he recommended I order. He told me to call him when the parts came in and he would definitely be over to do it as we are having people over for the holidays. I have been calling and leaving messages for three days now!!!! Still waiting for him to answer the phone or get back to me. I will keep you all posted if he calls me back and is true to his word that he would get it done before Christmas. If this is the last you see, he never called back and cannot be trusted to show up. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THEM!!!!! They will NOT correct your issues, especially when dealing with them through American Home Shield. I have had a water heater LEAKING for over a month now, David was out at our home and when he arrived and assessed the issue as needing to be replaced, even going as far as saying it's great cause the plumbing supply is right up the street so anything he needs he can go there! I talked to Dave even saying I'm changing all the water lines in the basement to PEX to make his job easier and said that would be great! He led my wife and I into believing he was an honest, caring plumber... After a week of not knowing what's going on with the confirmation of the warranty company, I decided to call and was told Steinberg plumbing says there is nothing wrong with it. WHAT?!!!! The tank is leaking, its 18 years old, it doesn't hold the hot water for long at all, the leads going in the tank are caving in, its rotted around the base due to leakage and David says there's nothing wrong with it?! I have been in the plumbing business for 20 years and can not IMAGINE doing this to a customer. This guy is VERY unprofessional in every way possible!!! This is why some companies fail and ones like the one I work for are very big. If your in need of a water heater or ANY other emergency service, look elsewhere!
