I have had occasion over the past 10 years or so to use Husteads Auto Body for car repairs. Last week, once again, I had need to avail myself of their service as a driver passing my parked car broke off the mirror on the driver's side of my car. Their customer service is over the top. They are more than helpful. I felt seen, heard, and cared for beyond just having a car repaired. It was personal customer service, and that has always been the case. With all the covid adjustments one might think it would be more complicated and of course adjustments were made ... but not for one moment did I feel my business was work to them. This is the third time I am using this fabulous auto shop. Their estimate was so fair and complete that it was unbelievable. left back bumper was totally smashed and the light was broken plus possible other damages underneath the bumper. Was referred to this shop after my car was left in a mangled mess from what I can only assume was a DRUNK driver in the parking lot. I thought for sure after the work was done, I would just sell her off. "No way was she gonna look like she did before" WOW O WOW!!! Husteads is my go to spot for bodywork on my cars. The work ethic these guys have are one of the best I've seen. I've had multiple cars here with no issues with the repair. One time I was going to pick up my car and they called saying that the car was ready but they didn't like the finish so they did it over again and had it to me the following day. Husteads had my vehicle for a month and not only was it not totally repaired they created additional damages around the driver glass moulding and etches on the passenger glass window. I believe that Junior show the owner some of the existing damages but the never acknowledged me or my concerns well I was standing next to the car taking pictures. Which is really bad for any type of business. This auto is new to me and i know if there are dings, scratches, dents and there were not. Would not recommend then at all. JR is great and doing the best with the deal he's being handed. I'm sure between me, the incompetence of Triple A and the service that the body that he works for is enough to make anyone lose their cool but he kept his. I appreciate that. read more

My front fender got crumpled a couple of weeks ago and I called Husteads since I"d used them for body work about 30 years ago. I was able to get an appointment with Junior right away and he did a quick and thorough estimate, pointed out two things that might possible increase it depending on what he found when he took the fender off (they didn't, but I was glad to be prepared in case they did). I brought the car in on the Tuesday before Labor Day and they said it would be ready the following Wednesday, because of the holiday. Imagine my happiness when Junior called at 10 am on Friday and said the car was ready. Saved me major money on car rental plus meant I had the car for the weekend. My front bumper grill had broken off after hitting something on the freeway and I came in for an estimate. They priced me at first for $400, but when I asked about cheaper options, they told me to go to Levans auto parts to pickup the piece and just pay installation! It's about 15 minutes away, and the woman who works at the auto parts was super helpful and got me a new grill for under $80 in less than 30 minutes. I received excellent service from my first phone call with Kyle and then Melinda who was personable, knowledgeable, and communicative. My catalytic converter was stolen from my Prius and they helped me through the whole process of getting my car into the shop and getting me a rental car for the day. When I picked up my car, it was cleaned and washed inside and out which was awesome. Had a good experience with this location on a previous repair. The second time not so good. More like horrible. My car was hit on July 8th it took about 3 weeks for me to get an appointment. Just when I decided Hustead's was taking too long they text me to let me know I can bring the car in. Once they had my car it took a while to get the parts in. More waiting. Finally I get a message (about a month later) that my car was ready for pick up. Made an appointment and everything just went downhill. The paint on my car was very wavy. You could literally tell it was hit on the right side. The right side looks nothing like it did prior to the incident. I notified the shop and someone came out to look at the car. He agreed the area looked wavy and offered to fix the car. Adding insult to injury the employee says we cleaned your headlights for free. Dude really. I'm more concerned about why the paint on my car looks like it was painted by amateur painters. I was given an estimate of three days to fix the paint. Three days turned into two weeks. No call or anything letting me know my car was behind schedule. Finally got my car back Tuesday and the paint still looks the same. Wavy. I'm positive Hustead's didn't do anything to my car. Probably just held the car and pushed it out the door. Not happy with the rush job. On the morning of pickup my car was sitting outside. Called someone to come out. I was told I didn't have to sign anything. I found it odd that no one came out to show me any paperwork that they redid the horrible paint job. It was like here's your keys leave. Pretty much left with a horrible paint job after having no car for almost two months. I wound be bringing my car here again. I'm assuming it's a real hot and miss with this location. I'll just have to find another place that can properly paint my vehicle. read more

This review is for Alex Zevallos of Husteads Towing. My car was not drive-able on Hwy 24 by the Telegraph Exit. I had called few other tow companies but all had gone to VM. Alex answered and was able to give me a fixed price for the tow and provided an estimate of his expected arrival time. Alex came to my rescue, took my car to a mechanic shop and there were no surprises or any additional charges. After a frustrating failed car incident on the freeway, Alex and Husteads Towing made it a pretty seamless experience for me. And here's the bonus experience: I got a ride to his office to make the credit card payment and get the receipt. Wow, I was surprised. Jr actually called me within a day of me writing my initial review, and apologized for the fact that I had gotten a parking ticket because of the tape they forgot to take off. He offered to reimburse the amount of the parking ticket. This tells me two things: 1) They actually read the Yelp reviews of their business 2) They are really FAIR. Initially I didn't tell them about the parking ticket because I did not expect/know that they would reimburse me for it. He did the work and did not even charge me this time because the headlamps had moisture intrusion which will also impair clarity! I took my car to Hustead's new location on 7th Street in Berkeley for some minor repairs (mostly small and medium-sized scratches). I was paying out-of-pocket so I was sensitive to the cost. They worked on my car for three days and they exceeded my expectations. They even removed a thick layer for grime that had built up on my headlights and didn't charge me for it. I got the car back in 4 days even though they said it could be five days. The work was excellent! In fact, they decided to do more work on the car (not out of my pocket) so the color was perfect (silver always needs to be blended). They offered lifetime guarantee on all the work they did. Since I took the car in early afternoon and got a car rental, I was back to the car rental place in 3 days (actually M-Th) since they charge per 24 hours... even better since I don't have rental insurance. Super painless and great service! I was involved in a minor fender bender and my insurance company referred me to Hustead's to get my car fixed. I worked with Said (pronounced sigh-eed) and he was wonderful. I made an appointment and I brought my car in on a Friday. Said checked the car (I had a minor dent on the front bumper), explained the process of fixing it, gave me a cost estimate and gave me a timeline to get the car fixed. All in a matter of 25 minutes. He dealt entirely with the insurance (was quick to get it approved) and all I had to do was bring the car in on a Monday and he would have it ready by Wednesday. Woot. Quick service. I also want to mention it seemed like everyone was really nice in the front office. They made sure that no customer stood there waiting. Said called me after they took off the front bumper to confirm that there was no additional damage behind it and also to reconfirm the timeline of when the car would be ready. When I got my car back, it was so shiny and super clean, inside and out. Hustead's even smoothed out the minor scratches I had on the bottom of my front bumper for free. It was really nice and I felt like I was driving a new car! They also offer a lifetime guarantee on the workmanship of the parts that they fixed. If you need a car rental, they also work with the local Enterprise, to have someone come pick you up with a rental car. The only thing is that I wished they would be open a little later in the day. Hustead's closes at 5pm, which may be hard for those that are coming back from work to pick up their cars. But they do open at 7:30am, so if you are an early riser, this might work for you.
