Joel, in particular, was extremely dependable and trustworthy - attributes that are rare to come by in the auto repair industry. Amazing service. I was referred by a top rated mechanic and when I called I got an appointment for the very next day. I wasn't sure how easy or hard my issue would be to fix (front side bumper panel was popped out and cracked underneath from catching on something). I was worried that it was going to be expensive to fix even though it seemed relatively minor (you never know with these things). I was prepared to spend several days getting estimates from different auto body shops. I was blown away when Sean offered to fix it for FREE. He welded/bolted it back into place in 30 minutes and didn't even charge me for labor. If I ever have damage again I will go back because I trust them to give me an honest estimate and not try to overcharge! read more

I recently had my Nissan 350Z repaired from when someone backed into and dented (mangled) my rear quarterpanel. I don't usually write reviews but this may help other people find a good body shop so I'm doing it today. I care mostly about two things: 1) My time, and 2) Quality of the work. Price is important also, but in this case, insurance took care of it (but by the way, they were probably less expensive than the body shop that the insurance company sent me to originally). 1) TIME: I'm gonna have to take it to the shop. That's a given. What I didn't want was incorrect estimates of when i could get my car back, having to go back to re-do things, etc. My time is money, and in fact, saving a buck or two on the repair pales in comparison to me going back and forth. I read other reviews re other shops that made the customer go back and forth several times (would drive me nuts), so I selected Hustead's instead. I was not disappointed. They were done the day they said (actually one day before), so I could go in, sign the sheet, and pick up my car. In and out in 15 minutes or less. Loved it. 2) QUALITY: I didn't think too much about these things generally, but it turns out the Nissan rear quarterpanel has a lot of curves in it (part of what makes it stylish, i guess). It takes artsmanship to bring it back to original shape, and match the curves on the other side. They use the latest methods and technologies, and were able to explain in full detail (more than i even knew about) what they did and why it is better. I started getting compliments the day I got the car home. Looked better than before. So if you are looking for a body shop that does what they say they will do, when they say they will do it (better than expectations on both counts), strongly suggest you consider Hustead's. read more

Hi Sam and crew If you need great service and professional body work done Husteads Auto Body is we're you need to go. My Subaru WRX was parked in my apartment complex and my neighbor accidentally hit the rear end passenger side of my car with a Uhaul causing damage to the tail light and bumper. Also pushing my car forward causing the damage to the front bumper too. I took a chance and went to my local body shop right by my apartment and I was impressed! I first met Sam who right away took all the information I had and look at the damage to give me a estimate first thing in the morning since when I got there they we're closing up. Sam stayed as long is it took to get the all the info he needed. The following day Sam called gave me the estimate and ordered the parts. I dropped my car off when they got the parts on Friday night. They started fist thing Monday and was done by Wednesday. They were fast and the work was amazing. They go above and beyond on there work and customer service. My son had a accident near Berkeley this summer and he had to leave for NY for summer. Even though I live in San Luis Obispo that is 230 miles away from Berkeley, I had to take care of the accident. My insurance co. recommended this body shop that is reliable and very nice people. While repairing my car, they found the problem from the accident in 2013. The process was complicated, because we live far away. In short, they fixed my car looks brand new....Even my picky architect husband was impressed. Don't go to Husteads unless you want to wait forever for your car to be repaired. When I took my car in after an accident, it took three weeks to complete the initial car repair and they damaged my upholstery when they did it. I'll give them credit for offering to repair the upholstery damage right away, but then it took them another three weeks to fix it. They also left my car dirty after both repairs. They really need to improve their process and pay better attention to detail. read more

A review before the work has even started - you can read the other reviews about their work TL:DR - Phenomenal Customer Service. I had damaged my passenger side doors due to a concrete pylon. I took the car to a 'select service' State Farm shop that quoted over $7,000. As my 2009 Matrix was valued at only $5,000, they wanted to declare it a loss, pay me what it was worth and scrap it. The car drives fine, there's no (noticeable) frame damage, I just slid along a pylon at 5 miles an hour and scratched and crumpled the doors. I was told by State Farm that even if I found a shop that could do the work for under the five grand, they wouldn't pay it as their select service has quoted it higher. I could buy my car back as salvage after they cashed it out but then I'd have to pay for all the repairs myself. I wasn't even sure they'd keep it insured. Needless to say, I was a bit of a wreck. Paying them monthly for over 20 years (and having only one other 'at fault' accident in that time - a minor rear ending), I came to expect that they'd do what was necessary to keep me in a car and not make me go out and buy another one - which would be very hard to do as I'm currently self employed. Remembering Hustead's under another name I couldn't find the old shop online so I drove to their location and it was the same shop, different name. Sean, after listening to my story and minor freak out about the whole affair, took a copy of the quote Mikes Auto Body gave me, said that he'd call State Farm himself, get their claims adjuster over to the shop, work with the adjuster and one way or another get my car fixed without having to claim it as totaled. He then also reserved a rental car for me and basically gave me hope at not losing my car or spending thousands of dollars I don't have to repair it out of pocket. During the conversation, I mentioned that part of my mood was due to the fact that I hadn't had lunch yet. The owner, Jonathan, heard this and within 30 seconds, he had fetched me a Clif bar and a bottle of water. I'm now home, doing work and awaiting the news but no matter what, I'm still smiling as I haven't been treated in such a friendly, professional manner in quite some time - especially during a major crisis in my life. Amazing! Amazing! Amazing! I recently was involved in a fender bender earlier this week and after reporting a claim with my insurance they suggested I take my car to Hustead's Auto Body & Tow. Being hesitate taking my car anywhere to be repaired, I pulled up and immediately was greeted with smiling faces. Sean walked over to my car, took a look at my bumper and said "do you have a few minutes?" I said " of course." He took my car in the back and with in 15 minutes my bumper looked brand new! I was shocked at how fast, easy and painless this whole process was. On top of that, they didn't charge me thing!!!! Wha?! Crazy. Soooooo this place would get over 5 stars for customer service if Yelp allowed. Between Sean and John, they've dealt with my car a little more than any of us has wanted (I'm talking A LOT) and have provided EXCEPTIONAL customer service every step of the way! Whether it is going above and beyond to fix something, making sure something is done correctly (even if it was from a place they sent your vehicle out to aka-- they didn't even do it themselves), and giving referrals to REPUTABLE places-- this is not one of those shops you have to worry about fixing one thing and breaking another to get you to come back. They do their best to provide you the best. They are also very informative and accommodating. I'm sure I've been on their nerves with all of my calls and questions but they've never once made me feel that way; if they sense any hesitation they are quick to take time out of their day and say "why don't you bring the car by?" Anyway, rare for me to write reviews but if your looking for a company you can trust, this is it. Their work speaks for itself. They've made my car brand new a few times already ;). After calling ahead, we dropped in, and Sean and his team were incredibly helpful in getting us on the schedule, fixed and on our way in a timely, professional manner.
