Waited over 30 minutes for two orders of shrimp and grits only to find that they had left the tails on the shrimp. Digging hot shrimp out of cheese grits with my fingers to pull the tails off is not my idea of a good time. read more

Love this breakfast spot! I come every time I'm in Stone Mountain. The food is great and service is always on point. I love the family and friends vibe. read more

Great place for Southern breakfast! The past reviews were helpful in trying this gem that recently opened in my neighborhood. I can eat so the hearty portions really left me satisfied. I ordered the fish and grits, my first time in combination, but I have learned is a staple. My company went more basic with scrambled eggs and cheesy grits. It was all stick to your ribs DELICIOUS. The decor is open and simple cafeteria style and the service is with a smile. I was there during a week day but I imagine with food this good, there must be a bit of a wait on the weekend. This yelp foodie highly recommends you check it out. read more

This cafe was a delight! I grew up in this area but rarely get a chance to visit. I got the opportunity this week. I remember this suite. It used to be an Asian restaurant. A lot has changed. The dining room is spacious yet welcoming. You seat yourself so we did. Immediately, we were greeted with the warmest server. She was smiling from ear to ear. She didn't know us but already bit felt like family. I didn't want anything heavy so I got an egg white biscuit with a side of hashbrowns. The place was semi-packed. They have taken the stance of a brunch diner that closes at 3pm. Clearly they have created quite the fan base. Every person that walked in happily greeted the staff as if they were old friends. My plate came and it was beautiful. Honestly, this was the best biscuit I've had in some time. It was fresh and not from a freezer. It was as light and as fluffy as a cloud in the sky! How did they do it? The egg whites were cooked to perfection and the hashbrowns were grand. They had an oldies playlist laced with all the favorites: The OJays, the Jackson 5 even some Cher! I am so glad we had a chance to try out this hidden gem located right outside of Stone Mountain park. read more

I didn't get a picture of the food because I was so hungry that I ate and forgot to take a picture. But the customer service was excellent here! I wish they had outside seating but did not. The food was pretty good. I would definitely go back here to eat again. All positives the only thing I didn't like was that it was a lot of people there however that just means that they have good food! read more

For a new restaurant opening in the worst covid time I found this restaurant and the staff delightful. They were very accommodating and so friendly. I went their first breakfast, enjoying fish and grits. Very good. Tasted like home cooking. I definitely recommend this place. Let's keep them open for a good food option during these rough days. read more

Great food and customer service. Affordable, free parking and great location. I definitely recommend Huskers for brunch & breakfast!

I love to eat breakfast here because the food is always good. Every time I call. The fish and grits are the bomb.

This place is a hidden gem!! Food was delicious, service was great!! All at a great price! We'll be back! read more

Okay so this place was amazing! It doesn't look like that much, but we were all pleasantly surprised with the taste of our meals! Our table ordered an omelette with bacon, fish & grits, salmon & grits, chicken & waffles, and the pancake breakfast. The only negative out of all 5 meals was that the chicken with the waffle was dry. Wonderfully seasoned, but tough and dry which was unfortunate because I could imagine it would have been amazing as well. There was a nice amount of food for the prices to be so low. The chicken breast is small in comparison to the waffle, but I didn't have issues with that because I don't like huge pieces of chicken breast anyway. Overall, Huskers has great tasting food at highly affordable prices and I will 100% be coming back! read more

Not that great but there sweet tea was good. The food was ok nothing to Write home about. Do not think I will go back read more

I personally think it's just ok. It's a bit overpriced for the amount of food you receive.

They have good food and quick service for a local joint. I placed a to-go order for the chicken biscuit, the buttermilk breakfast w/ a pecan waffle, a ham and cheese omelet and a side of bacon. You can't go wrong with (buttermilk breakfast) grits, eggs and bacon. My favorite item was the chicken biscuit. It was delicious! The biscuit was fluffy and the chicken held its crunch. The pecan waffle was okay. I'll have to try it again when I dine-in. I'll definitively make a visit when I'm too lazy to cook my own breakfast. read more

This is going to be a 2 part review for food and service. This was my first time visiting Huskers Cafe. I've always seen a lot of people come in and out, as well as a full restaurant, so from that I wanted to try them out. Location: this is the only location Huskers have (I believe) and it is not too far from me, so that's a plus. There's plenty of parking, so that's good as well. Atmosphere: From the outside the restaurant looks much bigger than it really is, but it's still a decent size. If you have a big party of 6+ then it may be a small issue. I'm sure they would put tables together, but the restaurant is a little "cozy" inside. Here comes the food and service... Service: when we walked in, someone from the open kitchen greeted us right away! A gentleman who was gleaning the tables directed us to an open seat. We were then greeted by a nice waitress who gave us some suggestions on the menu. Our dunk order came out fast, but it took her 15 minutes to come back and take our food order. She took someone else's food order who came in after us before she made it back to us. Our food came with 15-20 minutes after the order was taken. Our server was really sweet, but she didn't check on us. My husband had to get up and ask for butter from the kitchen, then had to get up again to request more water. Now, here's my review of my husband's and my food... Food: So I would say the food was ok. I've definitely had much better, but it was decent. I ordered the Buttermilk Breakfast and he ordered the Chicken and Waffles. So my food was good...just good. The temp of my food was lukewarm, not hot. I didn't feel Like sending it back bc I would have had to wait so long. My husband's waffle tasted like the waffles you make at a hotel breakfast bar. Nothing special at all. It was not the greatest waffle! The chicken breast he received was really small. I thought it was a thigh. It was the smallest Brest I've ever seen! The grits were not good...mine was clumpy and tasted like instant grits. I didn't eat them. Overall..mediocre. Not sure if I will return. Maybe we tried the wrong menu items. Not sure if I will be back to try the others. read more

I have tried this place a couple of times, it's hit or miss sometimes my food good sometimes it's not just being honest, the service is ok and the ambiance gives old outdated and bland definitely needs a upgrade read more

Food is decent, waiters could be much better. I went here a second time, which was an accident on my bf's part because we couldn't remember from the name if we had visited this place or not. We got there and had to seat ourselves, again! We sat and two minutes later we walked out. I'm all about ambiance, and great service with friendly attitudes because I'm a friendly person but this place doesn't give that read more

Not sure how we've missed this place for the past couple of years. It's in the plaza with Hobby Lobby next to the NCG movie theater. We went on a Saturday morning around 10am and surprisingly there was no wait. We did get one of the last open tables though. And tables and chairs are about all you will find in the sparse interior. The service was great and the staff very friendly. The waitress even offered to let me try the different type of grits (yellow & cream). The wait time for our order was probably a little longer than your typical breakfast place like Waffle House or IHOP but not bad. We had the chicken and waffle/$7.95 and two egg breakfast/$3.65 that comes with grits and Texas toast which we subbed for a biscuit, pork and turkey sausages. The food was good especially the grits; which I guess is to be expected with a name like Huskers. And warm syrup is always a nice touch. The biscuit and fried chicken were probably my least favorite. But definitely worth a return visit to try other menu items. read more

Came here on a whim and so glad we did! The food was delicious, we both ordered biscuits with a side of hash browns. The biscuits were soft, buttery, and just so fresh. I have no idea how the food is. We arrived gave our name for a party of six and waited. Mean while they seat couples at tables for 4 and 6. When tables for 2 open they sit empty. But that's not what made us leave. While we waited a group of 6 college kids walked in and the hostess sat them at the first table for 6 right in front of us. Even they where shocked looking at our group. So we left. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. They need to hire a hostess who knows how to manage table read more

Elevated basic breakfast. We got a sampling of everything Bc we're a family of 6. Definitely go for their specialty, the grits, but you can't lose with eggs, pancakes, biscuits or waffles either! Service was delightful & to top it all off, the ladies cooking were singing! read more

Went here after a Stone Mountain hike. The place was actually a little hard to find but I did find it after all so no biggie. When you first enter there is a sign that says seat yourself so we did. I ordered shrimp and cheese grits. The girl asked me if I wanted to add any toppings. I got confused because shouldn't it come already with toppings like other restaurants have it? Anyway I ordered jalapeño mushrooms and tomatoes. Husband ordered 2 eggs breakfast and a biscuit with gravy. We both thought the food was good. Because I've had better, it's hard to give it anything above average. Side note: I figured this place out. It really should be a create your own grits bowl. That's what it really is since every menu item comes with grits anyway. They should market it that way to make it unique. Otherwise it's just any other breakfast spot. read more

I just wanted to publicly acknowledge and thank Huskers' kitchen staff for still taking my to-go order 10 minutes before closing! Girl was rude answering the phone to find the location. I didn't even want to go after that interaction but husband said give them the benefit of the doubt, so we went. Place isn't in the best shape in appearance, has a hole in the wall feel. Kitchen area looked a mess but whatever. It wasn't crowded AT ALL & they had us waiting 24 min to even place an order while another waitress was talking to the table in front of us about some nails, I told my husband we were leaving. I know she MAY have been assigned to that table only but we were sitting there forever. Service was bad idk about the food because we never placed our order. Took our butt right across the street to Metro Diner and was served appropriately. I will not be back here. read more

I came here with friends after a Stone Mountain hike. We were looking for a good brunch spot and finally settled on this place. There is ample parking as the establishment shares a veg large parking lot with other businesses in the plaza. The place is very easy to find. Upon entering, you have a clear view of the space. You can choose a table to sit at and a server will greet you. They have pretty good customer service with a very nice, warm southern hospitality feel. I loved it! Our server was very helpful and knowledgeable about the menu, answering all our questions. After much debate, we all ended up getting the shrimp and grits and honestly, it was SO GOOD! I'm getting hungry thinking about them now! It was super delicious and we all actually finished all of our dishes, leaving some bread. Not me, though. I ate EVERYTHING! read more

Found this after hiking Stone Mountain. Great spot!! The menu is simple and well laid out. It's an awesome surprise to see yellow grits on the menu. I was especially hungry so I ordered salmon and grits with a waffle on the side. The salmon was perfectly prepared and the grits were flavorful, making a yummy combo! The waffle was tasty too. WHEN I TELL YOUUUUUU. IT WAS SO SO SO SO DELICIOUS. This place is a true gem. Will be back over and over again. Parking is easy and food comes out VERY QUICKLY. My wife was shopping nearby and noticed Huskers. She thought of it one morning when we were up early taking care of things around the house and said she wanted to try it. We stopped by and ordered breakfast to go. It was great. In particular, for my wife, their grits are the best she's had from any restaurant. I echo that sentiment. We have never before had a breakfast restarant that we both like as much as Huskers. It has become easily our favorite. read more
