Weekends are buffet only and it seems they don't have enough staff or only allow servers to also host their own tables. The buffet: Are these scrambled eggs made from real eggs went unanswered. They tasted ok and definitely not from powder. There is a hidden waffle station behind the buffet, zero signage stating this. 1 staff from the kitchen does the waffles, 2 machines. We visited for a family Christmas Day Brunch Buffet. Though the variety wasn't vast, everything was delicious and well prepared. Homemade mashed potatoes. Delicious cornbread dressing. Excellent cinnamon carrots. Made to order omelets and waffles. Excellent salmon and curry chicken. Crisp delicious green beans. Nice charcuterie area. Carved ham, turkey and beef tenderloin. Just really good food. It wasn't crowded so i wondered if we stumbled on a hidden gem. Dress is business casual and the view was spectacular. We did have to pay to park in Stone Mountain but it was similar to valet parking fees elsewhere. We will return. read more

I was extremely disappointed with my experience at the Waterside Restaurant. I ordered a steak cooked to a medium temperature, but when it arrived, the exterior was burnt and the inside was cooked medium-well to well-done. I informed the waiter that it was overcooked, and he politely said he would take it back and have it prepared properly. After about 20 minutes, the manager came out with another steak--this time cooked medium-rare. She insisted that I hadn't wanted it medium, but medium-rare, and even stated that she didn't know how to prepare it at a medium temperature. When I cut into the steak, I immediately realized it wasn't any better. In fact, it was the worst steak I've ever eaten. The inside was nearly raw, while the outside was still burnt, clearly indicating it had been cooked on high heat, burning the exterior while leaving the interior undercooked. I took one bite, had to spit it out, and couldn't eat any more of it. What made the experience even worse was the service that followed. The waiter cleared the rest of the table's dishes but repeatedly left the untouched steak in front of me. I eventually asked for it to be removed and explained again that I couldn't eat it. A short time later, he brought me a bill totaling over $80--without once asking what was wrong with the meal. When I told him again that the steak was inedible, he said he couldn't do anything about it and that I still had to pay. He didn't call the manager over and offered no solution. I chose not to argue because I was dining with a group of professionals, but I was incredibly upset that I was charged for a meal I could not eat. I am sharing this so others are aware: please think twice before dining at the Waterside Restaurant when staying at this property. Went for a friends wedding on New Year's Eve. 12/31/25, nice looking resort and ambiance. Rooms were nice and comfy and updated. The lake near it was amazing. And overall stone mountain park is a great place. Now for the bad, However staff, leadership and specifically the kitchen needs a total facelift/ training. Food took forever to come out was beyond late. No apologies provided nor updates provided. Food cooked completely wrong, orders given wrong. Cold fries. I could go on. For the price and amount spent. It was a huge disappointment. Spoke to the kitchen manager and his Nonchalant attitude and demeanor spoke volumes. A busy day such as New Year's Eve and this resort was not prepared. And my friend booked this place months in advance. They should've been better prepared and have staff that knows how to work in busy time. And actually communicate with their customers betters We also witnessed many other families at the resort and people disappointed and complaining. Dispite the disappointment I would recommend seeing if you can get something catered if you should choose to have your wedding here. And if you are just staying maybe take a drive out to eat at the nearby restaurants. As the price and quality didn't meet expectation. I would like to personally shout out "Gloria" who seemed to be the only waitress working (a much older women) who really did try her best and seemed to be alone working most of the time we were there, but it was not her fault how the food came out and how it was cooked .(such as cold temperatures and well done burgers being red/rare) And a housekeeper "Donald" who was very respectful and helped out if we had questions. read more

$22.95 for a breakfast buffet that the Holiday Inn gives you for free! There was nothing special, quite literally the same things you get on a complimentary breakfast at any other hotel. And to top it off they didn't have everything restocking and it was only 8:00 am and not very busy. We had to go ask someone for refills, then get hit with a 20% Gratuity charge. When we asked for that to be taking off, our server was quite rude saying it couldn't be taking off. (We were only a party of 4). The food on the menu is partially warmed up leftovers from the buffet. The scrambled eggs are watered down flavorless mush, the omelettes are tiny and also watered down mush. I see a lot of reviews critiquing the buffets. What do you expect..it's a buffet just like a Shoney's or Golden Corral so don't expect 5-star dinning at the buffet. I ate there last night and the menu is limited but the burger was great. Today I had breakfast made to order as the buffet is not open for breakfast. It was beyond great. Everyone from kind, personable and tended to the guests needs without delay. The food on both occasions was hot and timely. If you want a soy latte or a vegan menu please go elsewhere and stop with the pampered requests. We came to get a good meal. They have a limited menu with sandwiches only. No menu on their website and the photos on yelp and their website are inaccurate. Even the salt came in individual packets and was so humidified the salt wouldn't come out. Very very bad experience. The burger was over priced and very average. The fries were just bad. My mom and I went to the Waterside Restaurant for the Lunch Buffet. I did not know what to expect but thought the atmosphere was lovely as it overlooked the river. Unfortunately, the food was not as pleasant as the view. My first comment about the buffet was that it had limited options. There were two meats and two sides for the hot food, a salad bar, pizza, and maybe two cold dishes. For me, the variety was not that great and it would be hard for a person who is vegan or vegetarian since there are limited options. I tried nearly everything and the only "good dishes" were the potatoes and seafood pasta. The dessert was also deceiving because it looked good but did not taste good. As a person who loves dessert, I could not even force myself to finish. Needless to say, if you want a great atmosphere with poor taste in food this is the restaurant for you. read more

Not a bad restaurant. Clean, beautiful. The day that I went, there was not a buffet. Instead, they provided a menu. Appetizers are smaller portions made to look big but are very tasty. I highly recommend the spinach and artichoke cheese dip, VERY YUMMY. Servers are very nice and helpful. I am vegetarian so I ordered Mac and cheese and fries and was very disappointed. The Mac and cheese was the cheap kraft brand and although the fries were crispy and cooked well, they were not seasoned at all. If you have money to spend, their pizza, steak and other meat dishes looked pretty tasty so I recommend giving this place a try! read more

We had the breakfast buffet on our last morning in Atlanta. The service was good, fr a buffet, and the employees kept the food stocked and things tidy. t wasn't a bad deal either, $17 for adults and $10 for kids. We definitely ate our $17 worth! They had a omelet station and were happy to accommodate requests. They were also making fresh waffles and had strawberries and whipped cream set out to accompany. I would give four stars but as with many buffets the quality of the food (aside from the aforementioned waffles and omelets) was lacking. The bacon, grits and gravy were disappointing. You are definitely going for quantity over quality here. Not that the food was BAD, it was just mediocre. Our Easter celebration was great. We had a reservation and was seated within 5 minutes. The variety of choices were good. There was an omelet station, salad station with 2-3 pastas. We had about 4 meat choice for sure (prime rib, ham, chicken, crab claws). Also, creamy grits, biscuits, and bacon was offered as well. And, of course a desert bar with chocolate cake, apple pie, pecan pie, vanilla ice cream and many other treats. We enjoyed the atmosphere and was served very well. It was a great experience with good food. It was a little pricey when compared to other Easter Brunch's. Well today on Mother's Day, he meal was not as good. Tons of food here and I'm surprised it's not as busy as it could be. They have made to order waffles and omelets. Very conference hotel decor. Some areas of the restaurant of good views of the lakes. It's nice and quiet. Many of the staff have been there for years. They have everything you could want for breakfast. NIce change of pace especially if you plan on hanging out at the park for the day. Only drawback is that you must pay to go into the park, but if you get the year round sticker you can come in free for the year. read more

Where do I start? We arrived today shortly after 1:00pm famished since we hadn't eaten anything since leaving Myrtle Beach early this morning. We decided to just stay here for lunch as the hotel staff recommended Waterside and we wanted to head out quickly to hike the area. The hostess at the restaurant assured us that there would not be a long wait for our food. I ordered a Cobb salad and my husband ordered a Reuben sandwich with fries. Should be a simple order? I asked the waitress what my choices of dressing would be and she said she would have to ask. Really?? Am I the first person to ever order a salad from this place lol? This should have been a sign, lol. She brought our drinks right away and we sat there for over a half hour with nothing. People who came in after us were served and we asked where our food was, only to be told that it would be up soon. Another 10 minutes passed with no food. Then she brought out a cheese pizza to a group that was seated about 10 minutes prior. However, the rest of their order did not come out so they just sat there waiting. A couple of minutes later, a gentleman at a nearby table piped up that he had been waiting for his little girl's cheese pizza for over an hour. When the waitress realized that she had delivered the pizza to the wrong table, she retrieved it from the wrong party and placed it in front of the little girl. Now mind you, the people at the wrong table had started to slice into it, although no one had eaten any of it. I could not believe my eyes! They would actually think it was ok to take food off of one table and move it to another???? My husband and I were in shock! I don't work for the health dept but certainly this violates every code!!! We were utterly disgusted, as was the father of the little girl who got the "used" pizza. Now, 50 minutes later we still had no food or sign of it coming anytime soon. We asked about it and the waitress said she didn't know when we would get it. We requested that they just cancel the order and went elsewhere, after wasting almost an hour waiting for our food. This place wasn't even busy. I'd say there were 5 tables of people. What would they do on a busy day? I could have made it myself in about 10 minutes. Long-time Stone Mountain Park Plus Members...this review is of the Waterside restaurant only, not the Marriott Evergreen, or the Park. I'm done! I will never eat in the Waterside again. I know that seems harsh, but after experiencing the decline in quality and taste (it was never really a value), I can promise I would rather eat at the Waffle House, Outback, even Quik-Trip just outside of the park or bring our own. That's our new plan, anyway. Gave it a shot one more time for Thanksgiving...bad decision. It's such a shame, as the staff is great, but this restaurant is not reflective of this hotel, and we've stayed here for 10, extended weekends over just this past year. Ate here one night while camping at the campgrounds around the corner. We arrived early for the dinner buffet (they have buffets for both breakfast and lunch). The price was $26 and included a soft drink (soda, teas, juices) or coffee. Hard drinks were add ons. The buffet was arranged by Salads/vegetables, hot entrees, chef area, and desserts. I'm a sucker for a plain tomato/cucumber "soaked in oil/vinegar" salad which they had along with a standard salad you could create on your own. The chef's area was set up for a seafood lasagna pasta and ratatouille. The hot entrees had 3-4 different plates from a chili encrusted salmon with a banana lime salsa, roasted potatoes, ribeye steaks and some more I didn't notice once I saw the ribeye steaks. Desserts included apple cobbler, cheesecakes, carrot cake, pecan tarts, and chocolate gelato. The flavors of everything were stuck between good and great. Went back for more salad, and ribeye steak. Actually too much more. My wife did the same for the salmon. It was good that we had a mile walk back to the campsite afterwards. The waitress was very attentive and stopped for a while and talked with us about our travels that week and her travel to Florida last year. Go again: sure when we're in the area. read more

WHAT A DISASTER. If I could have given it a negative star I would've. My family and I have been coming here for Christmas dinner for over 20 years and is a tradition with us on Christmas day for dinner. This year was no exception. Over the many years we have been coming we have seen a continue decline in the food presentation and verity. When we first started coming they served cherry jubilee and banana foster flambe'ed, selection of smoked fish and the garnishes, green salads, gelled salads, potato salads, cheese and meat spreads, turkey, ham, fish, crab, shrimp, prime rib and beef medallions . The side vegetables were traditional for the season and the dessert table always had peach cobbler with ice cream and the price was reasonable for what was offered. Well forget all the above. First of all the Executive Chef needs to be fired. In the years past the carving table is where they serve the traditional meats, ham, prime rib and early on turkey. This year the only thing at the carving table was ham the rest of the area was empty. They had moved the prime rib from the carving table and somewhat hid it in the corner somewhat inconspicuous. Very simple they weren't serving prime rib instead roast beef but they had the horseradish sauce and au jus. In my opinion they were disguising the roast beef for prime rib. They had a half dozen or so pieces of salmon on a shelve in the carving area and if you weren't looking for it you would have missed it. I'm not sure if they had a heat lamp on it or not but it was dried out and room temp. For the poultry they had baked chicken breast that was well over cooked and uneatable. We ate at 12 PM noon. You would think the food would be at its best at that time of day but it wasn't. To add one more insult they charged $50.00 a person that I could have gone to a Golden Corral or a restaurant serving Christmas dinner for half the price, the food would have been hot and there would've been a larger variety of choices. Does the Marriott Corporate Board and its officers know what this location did to their guest, I doubt it. Shame on them but shame on me if it happens to me again. read more

I have been going to Waterside restaurant every Friday night for the last two months. I must say last night 11/6/2015 was the worst. The prime rib and crab leg buffet for $38.00 was horrible. The crab legs were cold and not enough. I had to wait more than once for crab legs. I spoke with a manager by the name of Mr. Libinot. Although I agreed to 25% off my tab of 4 adults and one child. (Mr. Libinot should have offered free tab, because the service was so horrible on this night. ) One of which decided he didn't want to eat anything. I got home and realized. I still felt cheated i still paid a total of $61.00 which is unacceptable. The meal should have been free since it was so horrible and not enjoyable by anyone in my party. Needless to say I will not be going back! I will have to find me another place to enjoy a crab feast. read more

My husband and I literally threw $100 out the window this pass Friday, the food was horrible! I don't think I have ever been Soo disappointed in a meal! The fish was cold, the Mac and cheese tasted like a piece of paper, the crab legs were simply put in water and turned on, and who put s banana peppers in collard greens, you tasted the peppers too over powering! The desserts looked fab, but were Awful! I'm Not bragging, I have had fine dining and spend less that $100 and more and walked away wanting to return again! That's how $50 a person should feel!! When I read the reviews at this restaurant I couldn't believe it could be so bad at a nice place like this I went down to look at the buffet for breakfast and for dinner. And looked really really good so I decided to try and maybe my expectations were so low that's why it was so good? I don't know but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Great salad bar for dinner I had red snapper broccoli squash and macaroni and cheese. There were huge assortment of really good desserts. I didn't have any. Breakfast was also very good lots and lots of fruit bread assortments with eggs bacon sausage grits etc. I don't know why these people gave this place such a bad rating and don't want to come back I would give it a try!
