I wanted to leave an honest review to help other homeowners. We hired Doug at Husbands 2 Go LLC for a straightforward renovation project and unfortunately had a very poor experience. We paid $300 upfront plus $1,000 after the first day. We honored both of these initial payments without hesitation. Demolition was supposed to be completed on day one of a three-day project, but wasn't done until the end of the second day. We weren't concerned about the extra time the job was taking, as we understand sometimes things take longer than initially expected. The issue came when he demanded another $1,000. We calmly explained that we weren't comfortable making further payments without seeing more progress, given that we had already paid $1,300 of the $3,300 total with only demo to show for it. It was a reasonable conversation to have and nowhere in the contract was a payment schedule like this defined. Instead of engaging with our concern, he became hostile, declared he was done with the job, and left. On his way out he dumped the demolition debris in our driveway. Photo attached. Beyond the payment dispute, earlier in the project he attempted to cut corners by leaving portions of the built-in shelves intact, claiming they would be "covered by the wall" despite removal being part of the written scope. When my wife raised concerns, he was defensive, rude, and condescending. He also disputed other items clearly included in the written quote and was hinting at extra costs from the beginning. For example, he suggested paint was not included despite assuring us upfront that the $3,300 quote was all-inclusive and that he "doesn't nickel and dime". The ROC advises homeowners to never pay ahead of the work, and that is precisely what we were asking for. What struck us most was how quick he was to destroy the working relationship the moment we raised a straightforward concern about payment. We weren't refusing to pay; we simply wanted work to reflect what we'd already paid before paying more. A contractor willing to have that conversation would have had no issue. Instead he stormed off and we were forced to send a formal demand letter to try and get him back to finish the job, to which he dragged his feet claiming to be too busy to come back. To make matters worse, we received a preliminary lien notice despite no additional payment being owed and the job being left unfinished. We had to hire a new contractor to complete the job weeks later, over the holidays. As first-time homeowners, we hope sharing this experience helps others avoid a similar situation. read more

This has nothing to do with their work....I actually never hired them. This review is based solely on the estimate that I got from them. I got 3 estimates from 3 different companies for the same services. The estimate from Husbands2Go covered labor ONLY and not materials. Apparently, I was responsible for shopping and obtaining materials. If they obtained materials, there was a charge of $150/hour "shopping charge" plus, I was informed they add 20% upcharge above the cost of the materials and the shopping. Husbands2Go's estimate was about 20% above industry average, but considering their "estimate" does not include materials, where as the other estimates were 20% lower and DID include materials, the estimate was actually higher than 20% above industry average. I has also asked for a small fountain to be built, for which I had all the materials. The basin, which was to be against an existing wall, measured 6' w x 16" h x 16" d; it wasn't big or complicated. I was given a labor charge of $2,000. All of their labor costs, upcharges and shopping charges are prohibitive for me. I read the reviews. Many talked about their cost being "reasonable" but some of those reviews were from a year ago. Maybe the times have changed their tune. read more

I originally called him to fix/replace my broken shower pan. The quote I received to replace my shower was beyond the scope of what I was looking to spend to have a working shower at this time. Doug was kind enough to refer me to a company that was able to simply repair and refinish my shower. The repair saved me thousands of dollars. I really appreciate that he was willing to refer me to another company knowing he wasn't going to get the business for the shower replacement. That was really cool of him. When the shower refinishing/repair company came out to fix my broken shower, they discovered that I had a broken shower head pipe behind the wall. So, I called Doug to come out and give me an estimate to fix it. He was at my house within 30 minutes of the time I called him. Since the pipe was behind the wall, he also needed to cut and fix some of the drywall to get to the pipe. His quote was fair and reasonable, so I scheduled him to come out and fix it. The day he came out, I asked him to also look at some piping under my bathroom sink. He noticed that the plumbing was screwed on too tight, so he loosened them up for me at no additional charge while he was there. He fixed the pipe and drywall. He worked efficiently and was finished within a couple of hours. I am very pleased to say that now I have a very nice working shower in my master bathroom. All of this is thanks to Doug for his referral and shower head pipe repair. Next time I need a handyman, I will DEFINITELY call Doug at Husbands 2 Go! He's got a great eye for design and is extremely talented when it comes to precision cuts on floor moulding, wood work, tile work and painting. Had Doug over to take care of a handful of repairs I had been meaning to take care of over the last several months however hadn't found the motivation to do so. Doug came over when he said he would and have me a fair General quote for items needed fixing and even gave me a few better suggestions for my garage. I had some damage to the drywall, door trim, and baseboard in my bathroom due to a very displeased Labrador I was dog sitting and shut in the bathroom while I ran to the store. Lesson learned.
